SecEvent newspaper missing file - access denied error (5) through the event viewer

After you save and clear logs (more precisely the security log file), I stop the PC.  It is started the next time, I went to read the log through the event viewer, I encountered this error: could not open the event to the event log viewer or custom views.  Verify that the event log service is running or query is too long.  Access is denied (5). (((("I checked that has) I use the admin account b) other log files are fine) 3 the secevent.evt file is not present in the C:\Windows\System32\winevt\Logs folder 4) on the creation of this file (as a copy/past from the application log file and rename it to secevent) the file is not written in.  (5) event log service can be restarted without error. (6) can not clear the security log file, I created.  Error reads as follows: Event Viewer is unable to clear the log.  The following error occurred: access is denied

Any help is appreciated.

I ended up having torebuild machine from scratch.  Nothing else has worked. Good luck

Try to start your system from a "Live Linux" CD free.  This CD runs a version of Linux without installing anything on your hard drive.  To create the CD, you download a file ".iso" and feature "Burn Image" of your CD burner to create a bootable CD.  The advantage, that you win, is that Linux is a lot less strict with permissions, so you should be able to access your files and copy them to a USB device.  Some Linux Live CD are:
    Knoppix: <> http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html >
    Ubuntu: <> http://www.ubuntu.com/download/help/try-ubuntu-before-you-install >
Ubuntu is actually an installation disc, so be very careful to follow the 'Try Me' instructions so that don't accidentally install you it on your hard drive.

An another boot CD, you might try is "Hiren".  It is in fact a version of "First environment" of Windows XP, so you could get access to some files that you would otherwise not not when starting on this disc.

    Dear Isha,

Thanks for your follow-up. After spending considerable time on the issue, I stopped just by using the function of collective housing, which heals many error codes. It is redundant to a standard network configuration and is not worthwhile. Since Windows 10 deletes the function of group living, I'm not sure that I need to spend time on this...

I have also had also removed the bad machine key and senior partners of information in the directory of network of peers, which seems to have solved the problem.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

    Hi DDockery,

Our objectives of RT keep record of system information in a file named nor - rt.ini

We do not suggest edit our files nor - rt.ini if you are not similar with them.

Important lines in the ni - rt.ini follow the lines:
    Server.TCP.Access = "' + * '"
    RTTarget.IPAccess = "' + * '"

'+' * means that each IP address can access

If you have any more specific questions or unconfortable editing the .ini file please contact Supportm technique of NOR, create a Service request and an Applications engineer can help out you.

Your Windows XP question is more complex than what is generally answered in the Microsoft Answers forums, as it deals with Active Directory. It is better suited for the IT Pro TechNet public. Please ask your question in the ITPRO Technet Windows Server Directory Services.

  • Who should I send my error reports in the event viewer?

Answers from Microsoft sent me an email suggesting that I have send reports of error for them.  Who are they? & How to get an address to send them to?  By clicking on reply to the email disobeys.  Any idea who wants this info?

Well, there are a few things you can do.

the first thing I would do is to simply unplug the printer from the computer, reboot.   and keep the printer disconnected during your analysis and resolution.

Go back, see if there is software for the Lexmark homesite (for your printer model) who may have revisions or corrections of errors like yours.

more often than otherwise, manufacturers release updates of their software and drivers, after having the cd that are included in the boxes of the printer.  They also provide FAQs on issues they have discovered and their recommendations on how to solve the problems.

then see Lexmark and let us know.

either by the way, this can be a good reference to search for the codes of error on their Web site:

  • Errors and warnings in Event Viewer in the field of applications on a laptop running Windows 7.

I receive a number of warning and an error message in the event viewer in the field of applications on a laptop running Windows 7.  Is there a way to fix this or fix another way?

Here are some notes on the event viewer reports that can help you. When you have a lot of mistakes, you need to focus on system errors and warnings, even if it's the applications that are giving you grief. Problems with the first sorting system can do the easier application problems. Note the time that the computer is started last and deal first with those at the beginning of the boot. Correct previous errors can be solved later.

    1. normally, when an error occurs on your computer looking in Event Viewer should be your starting point to find a solution. More related system errors are recorded and get an exact copy of the relevant report is important. Unfortunately, is not easy to understand reports and most of the users computer need help with their interpretation. I have to say later interpretation.

2 Event Viewer includes four major newspapers in Windows. These are application, security and system with Applications and Service logs as a source more details... For purposes of troubleshooting system is by far the most important.

    3. to access the system log, select Start, Control Panel, administrative tools, Event Viewer, in the list on the left of the window select Windows and the system logs. Place the cursor on the system, right click and select filter current log. Check the front of the error and click OK and see you only reports errors. Click the Date and time column header to sort. You may need to click a second time to see the last report above.

    4. a tip for posting copies of error reports! Run Event Viewer and double-click the error you want to copy. Click the button copy on the general tab allows you to place a copy in the Clipboard and close Event Viewer. Now start your message and paste it into the body of the message. Make sure that it is the first dough right out of the event viewer.

    5. He cautioned against three types of reports, information, and reports errors. In most situations, it is the error reports that offer the best information but sometimes WARNING reports provide useful clues.

    6. all reports have stamps date and hour and when troubleshooting, it is important to focus on the latest reports. Reports of studies from the point when the computer is started, and then check if a similar report appeared in the previous session. If errors do not repeat investigation as to why they happen is wasted effort.

    7. in the individual reports the most important information is the event ID and Source such as these help when looking for help on the internet. The description is just as important and copy the exact text to use as search criteria greatly helps achieve better results when using Google. Not paraphrase descriptions when other people asking for help.

    8. for Vista and Windows 7 Google is the best source of information. Search for selected text in the Description part of the report (not of the particular words of phrases) that "this exact word or phrase" Gets the best results. Focus on Social Technet and Microsoft Answers reports in the last 12 months. Look elsewhere if a response is difficult to find.

  • The Event Viewer error on startup: "the scheduled task of CARPET met a failure during configuration data collection. HR = 0xC004F00E.

I use Windows XP with AMD processor clocked at 1.6 Ghz and 2 GB of RAM. This error appears in the event viewer whenever my computer starts. I don't know if it's doing any harm. can someone advise?

    Hello Steven,

Did you ever receive notifications that a virus or malware has been removed from your system recently?
My only thought is that it is the remains of an infection on your machine.
It is most likely harmless, but I don't understand why you'd be concerned.
Do you have any task scheduled to run at startup using Task Scheduler built into Windows?
I would check to see if there are tasks to run at startup:
  • Get the "Access denied" error when you try to play all video files in another folder on my external hard drive.

A couple of days, I've had accidentally one of the folders slipped on my hard drive in the folder above him and was presented with the "Access denied" error messages when I tried the two a) reglisser it out & b) open it from the record she had been driven to (which was not a folder of my making that is a jibberish titled folder containing two .vdm files it contains first)

After receiving advice of a friend, I did a restore from safe mode on the eve of the day when he moved and he did bring him back with all the files and files in the right place, but now I'm getting an access denied for each file, I try to play. Whether Real Player, Windows Media Player etc none will play.

Just to test, I slipped a .avi file in the folder to see if he was going to play and he did it can be the folder settings, I'm just hoping that all these files are now not corrupted and unplayable as I have some 180 GB of data in this folder in more than 1000 files.

    Any help is very appreciated.
    Kind regards

  • Any attempt to create results by "Access denied" error zip file

Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.  I am logged in as administrator.  UAC is not active on this machine.

Any attempt to create a zip file results in a dialog box stating "unable to complete the operation.  Access is denied. "
If I select a file or group of files/folders, do a right click and say 'Send to Zip', I get this error.  Interestingly, while the error dialog box is still open, the zip file will be displayed in the current folder.  Clicking OK in the box dialog error cancels the dialog box and deletes the zip file.
This seems to be some sort of permissions thing.  Can I create a zipfile by clicking right in the Explorer window by clicking on "new", then "compressed (zipped) folder", and it will create the file very well.  I can even give it a name.  Any attempt to copy anything in this new zip file generates an error "file not found or no read permission.  Try to delete the zip file says 'you need permission from administrators to make changes to this file.
So now, I open the properties for the zip file and go to the Security tab.  It was there that I discovered that this file has no owner are entrusted to him.  I can then change owners, add my name as the owner of the file, assign full control to myself, apply the changes, and now the zip file can be read/written/removed normally.
So whenever I need to create a zip file, I have to go through the steps of creating-> change the properties of the-> Assign owner-> Apply-> add files to the Zip file.  It's a royal pain in the keester.
My question is: what changes to do to confide as the owner by default when a zip file is created?  This seems to happen with only zip files, any other type of file gives me this problem.  What happened since I got this computer brand new with Windows 7 64 - bit on it.  I can't say that it is a "Virgin" installation, he was photographed by a group of COMPUTER companies (I work for a fairly large company).  This group is a clue what happens and apparently others in our society do not report this problem.

Solved! The problem is with the permissions on the 'TEMP' directory which is used during the process of zip. See this announcement and scroll down to "more useful answer.

    Hi Dayg,

Please check your FTP settings in Lightroom.

Are you able to connect and download using another FTP Client?

Also try the steps below: -.

    1. from the Web in Lightroom module, click export instead of loading.

    2. save the Gallery to a location that you can find easily (like your desktop).

    3. manually copy the Gallery of his location to save to your FTP server.

    1008:9,-5000 access denied error

As I am installing of Sonivox Vocalizer. It is a plugin for Logic 9.

I traced down on the threads here that it's a common problem with the vise Installer application that many use to install their software, so they do not install for the same reason. Apparently the cause of changes in security in mac OS.

How manually set privileges TEMPORARILY so that I can get this software to be installed from the installation disc?

P.S. I already do not clean install (only admin), updated, then disk utility used to repair permissions and that it was not fixed.

You may need to restore the permissions on your user account. To do this, start on your recovery partition (hold down the command and R during startup) and open Terminal from the Utilities menu. In the Terminal, type: 'resetpassword' (without the), press return, and then select the admin user. You do not have to reset your password. Click the icon of your Mac hard drive at the top. In the list box below, select the user account that has problems. At the bottom of the window, you will see a box labeled restore Home Directory permissions and ACLs. Click the button to reset there. The process takes a few minutes. When you're finished, restart.

After uninstalling Movie Maker 2.6, try the following.

Check to see if there are any corrupt system files.
    Click Start
    Open an elevated command prompt.

To do this, click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right-click Guest, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.
At the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

    SFC/scannow

This will check for any violation of the integrity and repair any damaged operating system files.

    Then restart your system.

Pease refer to (KB) knowledge base article if you find corrupted files:
