  • Second hard drive Dell Inspiron 3847

Can someone direct me for information on the installation of a second hard drive for Inspiron 3847 computer for the purpose of the image upwards using the Acronis True Image Home software upward? There is room for an optical drive, which is totally alien to me, but nothing is said nowhere in the hardware in the user manual on the addition of second hard drive that seems to be a pretty normal material adding. No sense in this matter. First time forum thank you poster

Dell has not released the procedures to install an additional SATA hard drive, the Inspiron 3847 has a 3.5 Bay ", one for the second hard drive next to the main hard drive, there should be a set of rails located in the Bay, two 6-32 X 1/4, Phillips head screws are required to secure the Rails.

Procedures on pages 26 to 28 of the owners manual should give you an idea of what is required for installation.

    http://FTP.Dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_inspiron_desktop/Inspiron-3847-desktop_Owner%27s%20Manual_en-us.PDF

You will need a SATA data cable, there should be a spare connector to SATA power inside the housing.

After you have installed the drive, enter the system setup and make sure the hard drive is "on" [We] and recognized.

For Windows to recognize the second hard drive, it must be partitioned and formatted.

Go to control panel, administrative tools, computer management, storage, disk management, right click on the new drive, select format, then you can assign a drive letter.

  • CPU fan failure: Dell inspects the expedient to the customer before computers the they?

After waiting 11 days which includes I believe a week in the production of my Tower, 17/11/2015 I finally received my new Inspiron Desktop Edition Gamer (Intel). I turned on the computer and guess what I saw on the screen "CPU Fan Failure".  So now, I have to return the tower to a Dell for a tech to fix the problem with the fan.

Here's my question. Fact or not Dell inspect their product before they will deliver to their customers? Well, Dell has not delivered the product if a "CPU Fan Failure" had existed before shipment.

Unfortunately things can occur in vessels too...

Before send back you, open the case and check if the cable is correctly connected to the motherboard. The cable may have jumped out of the motherboard.

Just unplug it and plug it back to the motherboard. If it's totally off the Board, you can go to the Support page for this exact model and look for the link at the top of this page for the manual. Most service manuals show a diagram of components/connectors on motherboard and CPU fan connector must be checked.

If everything's fine, which solves the problem, so you won't have to send again.

  • Dell OptiPlex 755 SFF rear disc HARD fan Press F1 CORRECTED an error!

EDIT: Fix for F1 error is on the #2 post. Try only if you know what you are doing and don't mind not having is not a HDD stupid fan. I now only use a SSD and it needs no power noisy fan to waste.

    ORIGINAL MESSAGE:

I removed the fan hard drive dying on the Dell Optiplex 755 SFF (fan is built in a hdd cage) and modded the side of the case to include a Yate Loon 120 mm fan. I removed the hard drive in its entirety and then used cage the where the floppy drive has been to place my SSD 256 GB of free space. The system is much more pleasant that way, and now he has place for 120mm fan (already modded).

However, at startup, there is a rear fan error and it asks you to press F1 to continue. It disappears when I connect the old dying noisy fan (has more room for it). Because I don't want the hard drive cage (or his fan also) and I can not put the fan back in, I want to use the connector and the son of the old fan dead and hang it in my nice new Yate Loon, which is the ideal solution for cooling (used as a suction fan).

    The color codes are:

    Yate Loon (D12SL-12): Red = 12v, black = mass, yellow = Tach (I think)

Dell drive HARD fan (STROKE BN06015B12H): Red = 12v, black = mass, yellow? Blue? (PWM or tachometer)

What are the blue and yellow for the Dell HARD drive fan? Can I just plug the Red of Dells Yates red and black wire on black? This should give me a 12v fan work, however I wonder if the loons Yate flying over red wire could be used for the sensor.

Any help would be great. Really sad that Dell did not include a fan setting ignore in the bios.

    Thank you!

    SkOrPn

EDIT: Ok, Yate Loon do not light up when it is connected to the fan header. What is missing? The old fan of Dell is rated 12v A 0.36 and the YL is 12v 0.30 A, less than the old fan so the fan header would seem like the logical place to get needed power as it provides much. When the old fan is plugged it provides 12v, but does not provide power when Miss the blue and yellow wires?

Edit2: Ok, understood as the Yate Loon uses the Red wire as the 12v fan (somehow, I thought it was yellow). Now, I think that the yellow must be a son of tachometer for rpm. Now I'm wondering if the Dell system can monitor the number of TOWERS to connect the yellow wire without prejudice to the system without the connected blue. In fact, I wonder if the controller monitors just RPM to warn of the fan failure. If so, maybe I can connect the yellow and get rid of this error from the BIOS at startup screen.

    Hello

I've linked yellow pine of wire of the connector of the fan HARD drive on yellow pine of the CPU fan connector and no fan of F1 more at startup error -correction

I have no need for my SSD disk drive hard noisy fan.

  • Reference Dell promotional Gift Card Consolidation evasive

I'm not use horrible service or ignored as a client, but the way they treat the process of promotional gift card after a purchase is made must be the worst customer service experience I've had over the years... and I'm usually a fan of Dell.

After recent purchases, I'm done with two gifts, compensation in the amount of $100 and the other $ 25.  I wanted to buy an item for $125 on the Dell site and learned during departure that they will apply only one gift card per purchase, but I could consolidate gift cards if I called it 1-800-624-9897 Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 18:00 CT only.

On Monday, I called and waited on hold during an hour and a half before having to hang up.  Tuesday, I waited more than two hours.  Then I remembered and chose the option to leave a voice message for a return call based on the message that I would hear something "in 2 hours", but I have not received a call.  I left a second message Wednesday after an hour and did not get a call back that day there either.  I left a third message Thursday and did not receive a reminder.  Friday, I held again for a few hours and then left a message before.

Needless to say, I do not have a reminder to a message, that I left and never got through no matter how many hours I did.  I can't believe that Dell would force customers to call to consolidate gift cards if they do not have the manpower to accept these calls.  It is the customer service terrible promise calls in two hours if the customer still waiting for 6 days later.  This purchase could already achieved and delivered now!

I guess I'm just a customer so I'm not sure that Dell would care if they lost me or not, but I just wanted to give a warning to others even before to perform the process of consolidation of promotional gift card.  Even don't waste your time.

    Hi mikeyllo,

Thanks for posting your comments on the Dell Community Forum Office client for protection. Please accept my apologies for any frustration or inconvenience this matter may have caused.

I have forwarded your concerns to our promotional Marketing for review team. They can only consolidate PREPAID gift cards. You can use more than one promotional gift card, but you must call to place the order.

Please see terms and Conditions for promotional gift cards:

With the help of several cards

11 Dell will only accept a limited number of Promo card per purchase. Promo card funds cannot be merged with funds from all other cards Promo or other gift cards from Dell of any kind.

I hope this information is useful. If you still need help, please reply to my email and provide the requested information.

  • Dell and HD 5770 display port

Maybe it's more a mug just about shot. I just bought two P2415q of dell monitors. They display only video via HDMI or a DP HDMI adapter. The only way I ever had video off the report of DP was once when I hot swapped the RFP while the HD5770 was still connected to DVI. Dell didn't write Mac drivers for this monitor only Windows. I'll probably just to return them.

Actually there is no such thing as drivers of the Mac monitor. The Mac "detects" the features of the monitor/screen/projector/TV via a signal down the cable called EDID. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_Display_Identification_Data

Assuming that the computer - in this case a Mac monitor both and have a field then the Mac will choose a setting based on the monitor.

In this case, you have a new 4K resolution Dell monitor and you try to use it with an old long abandoned video card. It is also important to know that the version of Mac OS X you are using on your Mac also has a great involvement on which will support the Mac. You don't say exactly what version of Mac OS X that you use, but your signature implies you use El Capitan 10.11.4 which of course is the most recent and current version. (Which is good news). Apple does on several versions have improve the support of 4K in their operating system, it necessarily would not help however if your video card is the problem.

Now, I think I know the Dell P2415Q as I pointed above is a 4K monitor, I also know that he uses a Displayport interface, and I also know he uses a standard for 4K called OSH (Transport of single stream) and does not use the old standard 4K of TMS (Multi Transport Stream). The main difference is that with STD is more like two monitors 2 K-by-side and therefore two signals are sent down the cable, then merged by the monitor.

This is important because while the SST is the newer and better version and according to MacVidCards AMD made video as a Radeon HD 7950 and Radeon HD 7970 cards work best with older MST than they do with SAFETY. Your video card is also a design of AMD, although another much older.

It seems that you have two problems at the moment-

    1. AMD cards apparently peuvent have problems with views of OSH, it's only according to MacVidCards I did not report it to someone else and MacVidCards peuvent be exaggerating in order to beat the company extra selling their cards Nvidia
    2. More importantly, your card is so old that it is not officially supported on 4K at all according to AMD, see http://www.amd.com/en-us/products/graphics/desktop/5000/5770

I found another article to a Mac user, which suggests they could get 4K working with a HD 5770 but only at 24 fps or 30 FPS and not at 50 or 60 frames per second. This Dell monitor may be keen to use 60 fps.

I know of other reports here in these forums that many people have been able to use the Dell P2415Q with the Mac recent Macs with better video cards integrated, or an old classic Mac like yours but using a more recent version, best video card.

So, I would say that want to consider buying a newer video card. See http://www.macvidcards.com/

  • fans of zv5000z

I have a hp zv5000z I can say that one of the fans is not working.  Is it possible to test the other fan to see if it works? Is there an article step by step on how to clean the fans?

I've owned a zv5000z and I think she can still hold my personal record for the laptop that I owned the longest. about 3.5 years. I sold it to a family to give their teenage son and he wrecked it within 30 days. Another story. At the time that I bought the girl was considered a player. 64-bit AMD Athlon and a nVidia GeForce graphics card. I had Windows XP 64-bit on it and 2 gigs of RAM together.

    Here is the Manual:

    Manual

Simply follow the instructions for disassembly down to the motherboard and the withdrawal of the processor. Look at point 7 on page 3-3. Fans are integrated in a sort of large insert module like a piece of cheese in a "sandwich". See Page 5-75. Keep in mind this manual covers several models, and sometimes it is a little confusing. Its a laptop big and there is a good amount of clearance in there, but also a lot of parts and subsets and lots of screws to follow. You certainly want to remove top the processor and the heat sink and apply new thermal paste sparingly. Just on the processor core. Clean the blades on the two fans with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol and let it dry. The dust that accumulates on the fans that makes them rotate more slowly and move less air.

If both fans are working there is no substitute to keep the vents two fan up to your ear or just simply watching them to see if the blades begin to turn. If I remember the second fan does not hit unless you put the load on the processor. So do something like defragmentation of the hard disk or play a game and it should so this second fan on. I think that model also uses the old processor driver AMD Cool n Quiet and you want to ensure that is installed.

  • Tecra M11 with Fedora x 64-Hang and fan of overtaking

    Hi all

I got a lot of Toshiba laptops in the past and so far I run Fedora on it without problem.

Since a few weeks I had a new Tecra M11 and I installed Fedora x 64 on it.

Unfortunately, from time to time I have a problem: laptop freezes and after a few seconds fan invaded. In this case, I have no choice and I have to stop my laptop by pressing power button.

I've updated the BIOS with the latest version available and since the problem occurs less often, but I continue to meet with he...

    Any help?

    Hi mate

I think that Windows 7 is pre-installed on this laptop.
Have you noticed the same behavior for laptop with Windows 7?

I m asking this because it is not easy to say if it could be linked to the operating system or hardware problem... you know...

  • Two fans at the same time come on the Satellite A30?

    Hello

I ve just replaced my camera laptop mobo (2 fans) and I m sure that when I tested after all together put two fans of kicks in, but as I m sitting here write that I can t see or feed the second fan lights.

I m worrying as when I took part I noticed that one of the connectors to the original fan was half way out - I guess it happened when I paid someone to repair my laptop, there is a year (I had to do it myself now and I ve felt m tech didn't know what he was doing) however I am a little concerned that maybe the second connector unit fan slipped out and this would explain why the second fan does not come when the first made?
ID rather not disassemble it again to check if not I need to.

Oh I've had a thought they are both controlled by temperature (they are of course) but are they set to start at different temperatures?

    Adding: chezybezy

I m not an A30 owner but I guess that the two fans should start and run at the same time
There are two power cables and I guess that both fans are ordered together at the same time

  • The CPU fan does not work on Satellite A60

    Hello world

I have a little problem with my laptop.
I noticed my cpu fan does not work. only the second fan are working fine. (general fan)

my PC is a satellite A60
You have a solution to find why my fan does not work?
    THX

    Hello

I put t know what fan you mean because I saw only a single fan at the bottom of the unit. However, perhaps the second fan is hidden.
It's not easy to say why the fan doesn't work. Maybe dust clog up the fan and cooling module may not work correctly. You can try to use the vacuum cleaner to clean the fan.
If it doesn t work so I guess there must be something wrong with the material and to fix this, replace this part. But in this case I recommend to contact the after-sales Service of Toshiba partner. He has much more experience in such cases.

  • Lenovo T530 "Fan Error".

2 days ago I started getting the error message "Fan Error" after starting my computer (T530). Before it gives me the message there is a beeping noise hard. I'm going back to school soon and I hope that there is a way to fix it myself without having to buy a new fan. I'm really bad with running on the computers. I am wonderig if I have to clean the dust out of it, or shift the fan or something like that. Hope there is a way to have a quick solution. Thank you all.

You can try to clean the dust out of the vents and the fan blades. You can also try lubrication of the bearings of fan with a very light oil. That could revive the fan enough to stop "Fan Error" messages for a while. It was enough to revive the fan on my T430s a few months ago, when I'm "Fan Errors" on a trip.

However as richk says, you really should get a new fan, especially if the T530 is still under warranty. Your fan is very likely to fail again. So I would say do you now before you go back to school instead of have to do with a date school hanging over your head.

  • Case fan runs at full speed

I accidentally shorted the circuit case fan on my motherboard HP (explanation below), and now the fan runs at full speed all the time. Apart from the fact that it was a stupid thing to do, it will be a long term problem and should I try to reset the fan speed switch?

(Long version) It's hot here these days and my computer fans seemed underpowered. I put a splitter at the exit of the case on the motherboard fan and added a second fan in addition to the original fan. All it worked well except the new fan seems to run pretty slow. I wanted to get a voltage reading card fan, but I accidentally hit the two sensors on my voltmeter and the computer shuts down immediately. He has started up and worked well, except that the throttle was no longer working and the fans were running at full speed. This also explains why the second fan turned slowly before when they were both being strangled.

I guess that in the end I got my wish to have my fans running at full power, I just wanted to see if there are future problems leaving this way.

    Hello design_guy,

You should not have problems with the fan rotating at high speed, with the exception that you can reduce the life cycle of the fan.

You can install software on the computer that will allow you to adjust the speed of the fan to the computer which may help you extend the life of the fans and give you a bit of control over them.

Something like SpeedFan should do the trick.

  • Dell has declined to support

I've been a fan of Dell and Dell bought since 1988 when michael dell was in Austin.  The service was great.  Then, like most companies that become very big, they abandon service customer for more profits.  It's understandable that dell must show profits like any other company.  I bought a lot of Dell computers, I have recommended the stock in Dell property There are too many people.  That being said I received calls from Indian masquerading as Dell computers with my service number.   they want to be able to control my computer from a remote location.  I know it's a scam, so I tried to call Dell asking an American couldn't talk to Indians who are the main cause of the alarm.  Now, either their India call centers have obtained all these numbers Express tag or Dell has been hacked.  I'm trying to talk to someone and Dells the Security Department for the last four hours and a half, I have tapes of phone numbers of our conversations but are all that I can talk about the Indians, the root cause of the fraud.  Now I get calls from the Indians who claim to be agents of the IRS who are really a joke as I play with these guys just out of fun as you would think that Dell would like to know more information on this case, a multi-billion dollar company should have better security or at least be willing to talk to a loyal customer

Hello!  If you feel that your personal information has been compromised, you will find information on what to do here.  Fill out the form that will give the information to Dell's internal security team.
