Dell and HD 5770 display port

Maybe it's more a mug just about shot. I just bought two P2415q of dell monitors. They display only video via HDMI or a DP HDMI adapter. The only way I ever had video off the report of DP was once when I hot swapped the RFP while the HD5770 was still connected to DVI. Dell didn't write Mac drivers for this monitor only Windows. I'll probably just to return them.

Actually there is no such thing as drivers of the Mac monitor. The Mac "detects" the features of the monitor/screen/projector/TV via a signal down the cable called EDID. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_Display_Identification_Data

Assuming that the computer - in this case a Mac monitor both and have a field then the Mac will choose a setting based on the monitor.

In this case, you have a new 4K resolution Dell monitor and you try to use it with an old long abandoned video card. It is also important to know that the version of Mac OS X you are using on your Mac also has a great involvement on which will support the Mac. You don't say exactly what version of Mac OS X that you use, but your signature implies you use El Capitan 10.11.4 which of course is the most recent and current version. (Which is good news). Apple does on several versions have improve the support of 4K in their operating system, it necessarily would not help however if your video card is the problem.

Now, I think I know the Dell P2415Q as I pointed above is a 4K monitor, I also know that he uses a Displayport interface, and I also know he uses a standard for 4K called OSH (Transport of single stream) and does not use the old standard 4K of TMS (Multi Transport Stream). The main difference is that with STD is more like two monitors 2 K-by-side and therefore two signals are sent down the cable, then merged by the monitor.

This is important because while the SST is the newer and better version and according to MacVidCards AMD made video as a Radeon HD 7950 and Radeon HD 7970 cards work best with older MST than they do with SAFETY. Your video card is also a design of AMD, although another much older.

It seems that you have two problems at the moment-

  1. AMD cards apparently peuvent have problems with views of OSH, it's only according to MacVidCards I did not report it to someone else and MacVidCards peuvent be exaggerating in order to beat the company extra selling their cards Nvidia
  2. More importantly, your card is so old that it is not officially supported on 4K at all according to AMD, see http://www.amd.com/en-us/products/graphics/desktop/5000/5770

I found another article to a Mac user, which suggests they could get 4K working with a HD 5770 but only at 24 fps or 30 FPS and not at 50 or 60 frames per second. This Dell monitor may be keen to use 60 fps.

I know of other reports here in these forums that many people have been able to use the Dell P2415Q with the Mac recent Macs with better video cards integrated, or an old classic Mac like yours but using a more recent version, best video card.

So, I would say that want to consider buying a newer video card. See http://www.macvidcards.com/

  • Display Port Dell XPS 15 9530

    Hello

I have the Dell XPS 15 9530 (Q4 13). Could you tell me if I can connect monitor external throught mini DP and get a complete resolution of 3440 x 1440?

    Thank you for your help.

    Hello

Yes, you should be able to.  The graphical subsystem integrated (Intel HD 4400) and the discreet graphics card (nVidia GT 750 M) support mini-Display port 1.2 standards.

    Ports video and resolution

    • HDMI 1.4: 4096x2304@24Hz or 4096x2160@30Hz
    • Mini-DisplayPort 1.2: 3840x2160@60Hz

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Dell Nvidia Quadro 600 reference - adapter provided by Dell dongle (display port > DVI) is missing entries

A puzzle - DP > DVI adapter dongle supplied with my refurb Precision T3500 is absent from the entries on the side of DVI. [Both the bag of dongle and the dongle have labels with "DP/N 023NVR" and "CN-023NVR-48570-22M-039X-A00"]

The card is Nvidia Quadro 600 Dell w / 1 DVI port and 1 DP.

I want to go to DP to VGA *... so I need a second adapter grafted on the dongle from Dell.

Missing entries are above and below the long horizontal (spade) of entry. All my DVI > VGA adapters have 2 tiny over the shovel and 2 pins below.

The DVI port on the card fits those 4 pins.

    The dongle does not work.

Can I just use the hot pin (heat a PIN and create holes) approach... or DVI use these 4 connections?

If the latter, why NOT the adapter address these connections?

    * Yes, I keep autour monitors until they die - a strategy to continue to pay the mortgage

If you have Display Port, then you can get a Display port to VGA.

But they tend to be expensive sometimes more expensive than another monitor that is DVI or VGA vs HDMI

  • U2415 Display Port DVI adapter - no Signal

Hi - I have a new U2415 that I'm not getting a signal on when I plug it into my office with a Display Port to DVI.  This is an active adapter that I bought on Amazon.  I have the adapter plugged into the port Display Port, then the cable DVI to my PC.  When I try to "detect" to the monitor displays under Windows 7 64 bit I don't see it in there.  I have 3 other monitors connected to my PC using a videocard ATI Port Quad (ALL DVI) and I know that all ports operate as I went around.

When I plug the monitor in my book of Mack using the Display port cable accompanying the monitor works fine.  I also know the works of DVI cable very well as I tried it on another monitor.

I also tried a CDM/DVI with another card and it does not work.

I also downloaded the software Dell Display Manager but it gives an error saying: he needs a Dell monitor supported.

Any ideas on why the Display port/DVI does not work?  Can someone suggest any other ideas.  I like to keep my current quad DVI video card port as they are costly to change.

    Thank you very much

  • P2415Q - no display on DVI, HDMI. No menu. Worked perfectly for a month on the display port

Line of reason: Dell P2415Q. After a month, works perfectly on the display port, no display on screen Display Port or HDMI, no response to the menu buttons, backlight and power ON but no picture on the screen.

    Description of the problem

The monitor worked out of the box for a month using the mini display port display port cable supplied with the monitor, which was plugged into my XFX 7970 and 7950 graphics cards. It supports 4K at 60 Hz and has been exceptional for photos, videos and games. Wednesday, the monitor no longer works, no picture or menu is displayed on the monitor. I plugged my old monitor to help diagnose via DVI graphics card even. When I press the power button on the Dell P2415Q monitor, the power LED lights up and the computer detects the monitor (as shown in the menu of the windows screen resolution). He defines as a secondary display but the screen remains black, I see the light power and backlight is turned on. No power save mode popup doesn't appear on the monitor, when I press the buttons of the menu there is no response from the screen, it stays black. I repeated with an HDMI cable, the same problem occurs without intervention or image. I repeated and disabled crossfire (which allows graphics cards to run independently) and tried the second graphics card without response. I tried the HDMI cable I used on my old LG monitor, it works well. I tried to connect a laptop on HDMI to the monitor too, no response from the monitor. I've exhausted all the tests I can think, I guess I'll have to return to the screen for repair or replacement under warranty. A question to the community - and dell rep is there anything else I can try / to make this work?

  • latitude dell max resolution with e-port replicator

    I have the following scenario:

    • Laptop: Dell Latitude E6420 i7 with Intel HD Graphics 3000
    • Monitor: Dell 3007WFP 30' (up to 2560 x 1600 resolution)
    • Docking station: e-port replicator for Dell T308d
    • Adapter: Dell Display Port to DVI - D adapter cable DP/N 023NVR

    Problem: the screen 30 '' Maximum available resolution is 1280 x 800.

    Question:

Say that I can't get the monitor resolution of 2560 x 1600 with the integrated Intel HD3000 card or the e-port replicator as the laptop has no native DVI - D Dual Link, I should be able to get at least 1920 x 1080 per display port. No difficulty to get the best resolution of 1280 x 800?

Among the measures taken so far:

    1. The monitor has only a DVI - D Dual Link port so I use a DVI - D Dual link to cable DVI - D Dual Link to connect to the docking station does not work, I read somewhere that the e-port replicator is actually DVI - D Single Link inside so won't work because the monitor needs native DVI - D Dual Link.
    2. Using the same DVI - D Dual Link connection cable double DVI - D, but this time I add a DVI - D Dual link adapter port screen and connect to the port of display in the e-port replicator port, always the same question.
    3. To connect directly to the laptop using DVI - D Dual Link to HDMI Cable, always the same.
    4. Also tried manually add resolutions custom in the Intel like 1920 x 1800 Graphics Control Panel, or by using p 50 Hz frequency refresh, 30 Hz, etc. timing standard CVT or FTE or CVT - RB. When I apply these custom settings, the monitor screen goes black as if it does not support so it changes again in 1280 x 800.
    5. All the drivers are up to date.

Help will be greatly appreciated! -

You will need an active displayport to DVI. Here is the link to the purchase page.

    Hey there Mac5321,

You can connect any monitor to this port? The port on the GPU works at all? Have you tried another port VGA, HDMI or other available to connect to any monitor at all? The computer worked before?

I try to reset the BIOS to its default settings and retry the system if it will bring an image to any monitor. The fault may be in the GPU or motherboard not providing the connection appropriate for video output. Is the computer works properly, the fans spinning, initial POST beep, etc.?

  • U2412m continues to go to power saving on the Display Port!

According to the title, the monitor works fine on DVI - D, however, when you use the Display Port, it will never get photo.

I unplugged all the cables and only connected 1 monitor to my computer. When I plug the Display Port, the monitor recognizes the cable, and he goes to sleep. However, he never wakes up and there are always connected via the Port display power saving mode.

I have connected my second monitor, and Windows by virtue of the resolution of the screen, I can see the two monitors that on DVI and the other on the display port., but the display port we'll never come back to life.

My problem is similar to this: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/peripherals/f/3529/t/19534915.aspx

    And this: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/peripherals/f/3529/p/19444864/20290936.aspx

People who could not find a solution to this. What is the problem with this monitor and display port?

The screen does not appear even the POST screen or windows loading

    Hello.

I bought another DP cable to replace the one I bought on ebay. Well, this one works very well, so it was the cable. Summer reading on the 20 pin and how that creates a problem.

  • Mini Display Port has completely stopped working

So I bought a Mini Display Port to HDMI adapter and it has worked perfectly well for more than a month. That's until 3 days ago. Out of nowhere I plugged my HDMI into the adapter and the power led of the monitor turned on and after a few seconds of reading, "No Signal". I have to hold the power cord in the more odd angles to get even for the screens of mirror, and even in this case, the screen is static at 80%. I looked online and tried every single tip or solution I've seen without success. All my HDMI cords are fully functional as I tried each one with my PS4 and works perfectly, so this isn't the issue. I've never had problems like this with any other Apple computer. Probably because no other computer using mini display ONLY ports. If anyone has had this problem and found a solution please let me know, if I can try to get this working. I have a MacBook Pro 15 in. mid-2012 with the processor i7 under OS X 10.8.5

This suggests a possible problem with the cord.  I would like to make an appointment with an Apple store genius bar and I tested the unit and the power cord.

    Ciao.

  • External display via mini display port resolution

    Hello

I have an iMac 27 "late 2009 with a graphic of ATI Radeon HD 4670 256 MB and the latest Mac OS.

I just bought a Samsung U28E850R to use as a second screen UHD and connected via the port mini screen iMac to display the port of the Samsung.

The problem is that it is not possible to set a higher resolution than Full HD on the Samsung. But with regard to the iMac specification 2560 x 1440 should be possible.

Does anyone know the solution for my problem? Thank you.

    Hello there, riedma.

It seems that you are wanting to be able to choose from all available on your new display resolutions. The following Knowledge Base article offers strong information to achieve this:

OS X El Capitan: set the resolution of your screen

Screen resolution determines the size of the text and objects on your screen. By default, the resolution of your screen is set to display the text stronger and more detailed images. So it is best to use the default resolver, you can manually set the resolution to make the text and objects appear larger on your screen, or adjust it to make the text and objects appear smaller in order to have more space on your screen.

Depending on how you set the resolution, some applications may not entirely correspond to the screen. Using a scale of resolution can affect performance.

    Define the main screen resolution

    1. Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, click view, and then click display.

    2. Select chipped, then select one of the options of resolution nationally.

    Define a connected screen resolution

If you have more than one display, additional resolution options are available.

    1. After that the display is connected, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click view, and then click display.

    2. Press the Option key while you click chipped to see additional resolutions for the second screen. Then select a resolution option to scale to the second screen.

If you changed your screen resolution and now there is no picture

Connect multiple monitors to your Mac

    Kind regards.

  • Web pages and user interface display too small in Firefox 20.0.1 (but fine in IE and Chrome) - how can I fix?

On my Dell Inspiron 7720, running Windows 8 64-bit, Chrome and IE display web pages in their correct format immediately after their installation, but Firefox 20.0.1 displays too little (and the user interface of FF is too small as well).

I went on all kinds of things, it might be and know I can install an add-on to enlarge pages at least, but I really want to get FF displaying correctly of course.

I use my native resolution 1920 x 1080 - laptop and have to display Windows set up for display at 150% - % of Windows display development does not affect display FF.

Can someone tell me please how to get FF displaying correctly (without an add-on.)

    Help appreciated,
    US5

Thanks for your help cor - el.

I just installed NoSquint and it works perfectly for the web; pages. Then, I found a theme with bigger icons in "complete themes" - there are a number of them.

Guess I expected to understand why only FF was smaller, (not just solve the problem) - However, the setting is very nice-thanks!
