security in the ADEP changes

Maybe someone can give me the right advice. Looks like with ADEP safety on a turnkey installation is more than before enhaned.

When you skipdurcing the configuration of the Manager of the question as what is the host name, and leave the standard 'localhost', it gets funny if you try to reach the server after the IP address changes or the name of der FQN.

Simple, you probably need to change the referer allow but either way I don't have to work. To get access via remote control on my server, I deleted the white list, the proposed change of the parameters by adding the new IP address and 0 http and https port has not helped. Also, after restarting of services document I couldn't reach http / / myhost:8080 / /AdminUI or http://myip:8080 / workspace. only 'localhost', I used the installation gives me access.

Has anyone good advice how to fix this?

Thank you

Dieter

  • After the upgrade to 6, security server does not change the listening Port

Came across a weird situation where after upgrading a server security 6.1.0 - 2509221, it does not change the listening SSL port during the upgrade, it was not on the standard SSL port.

It was initially configured to listen on 444 before the upgrade, after the upgrade, I tried to go back to 443 and a netstat-ban shows that it is listening on port 444.

I double checked the config.properties file and there is no entry for serverPort, and configuration shows 443 in the admin View handler.

-Re-apply the configuration via the web page does no change, always tuned to 444.

-Don't restart the service of security server no change, still plays on 444.

-Restart of the server, no change, still plays on 444.

-Statically placed serverPort = 443 in the config.properties, always tuned to 444.

All ports are verified open, 443, 444 and so I think I could have hit a bug. Someone else has security servers that listen on non-standard ports SSL?

A complete reinstallation of the Security server is provided, changing the port to listen 443, shouldn't have to do that well.

You checked config.properties, but did you check in locked.properties for the port setting see if it's been moved there before and during the upgrade? Locked.Properties replaces all the configuration settings.

  • ProDesk 600 G1 BIOS configuration of the TPM secure through the BIOS Configuration utility

We have a range of devices, computers HP desktop and laptops in our environment.  Devices are all running Windows 7 64 bit and should have Bitlocker enabled, but we found that some were not encrypted.  So I am trying to set up a remote BIOS and Bitlocker config activate software that we can get out via SCCM and then embed in a task sequence image for new machines.

I use the Bios HP Configuration utility to check a BIOS password is set and then activate the TPM chip.  I took a BIOS config output of each of our models and created a settings file that has all of the TPM associated parameters of all models.

At the moment I run Setup BIOS utility manually for testing.  On all models I tried that works very well, except for the 600 ProDesk G1 SFF.

When I run the utility on the ProDesk 600 G1 MFS, it says that I have managed to update the settings, and when I check the BIOS, the TPM secure has been unhidden and the TPM Management was given to the operating system (two settings I change), but the TPM itself remains hidden.

It's the release of the BIOS configuration utility (it uses the 2.60.13.1 version, which uses plaintext passwords.  I also tried with the 3.0.13.1 later version that uses password files - same result)

    C:\ > BiosConfigUtility64.exe /cspwd: "password" set: "TPM_Config.REPSET"
    < BIOSCONFIG Version = "2.60.13.1" Computername = 'HP600G1' Date = "24/07/2014" Time = "13:01:37 ' UTC '1' = >"
    < SETTING changeStatus = "pass" name = "Embedded Security Device" reason = "' returnCode '0' = >"
    < OLDVALUE > <! [CDATA [hidden device]] > < / OLDVALUE >
    < NEWVALUE > <! [CDATA [device]] > < / NEWVALUE >
    < / SETTING >
< SETTING changeStatus = "pass" name = "Enable security on the next boot" reason = "' returnCode '0' = >"
    < OLDVALUE > <! [CDATA [disable]] > < / OLDVALUE >
    < NEWVALUE > <! [CDATA [enable]] > < / NEWVALUE >
    < / SETTING >
    < SETTING changeStatus = "pass" name = "The BONES of on-board safety management" reason = "' returnCode '0' = >"
    < OLDVALUE > <! [CDATA [disable]] > < / OLDVALUE >
    < NEWVALUE > <! [CDATA [enable]] > < / NEWVALUE >
    < / SETTING >
< SUCCESS msg = "Successfully set BIOS config." / >
    < information msg = 'BCU return the value' real '0' = translated = '0' / >
    < / BIOSCONFIG >
    C:\ >

And after a reboot (where it should activate the TPM), BIOS shows as disabled built-in safety device (see attachment for the image).

I have tried everything I can think of to get this to activate, including:

    • Different versions of the BIOS configuration utility

    • Remove the password from the BIOS and the application in the same order as the parameters

    • Different passwords

    • Reboot and allowing the machine to start completely to Windows before checking if the setting took effect

I also tried to add the utility and the commands for an SCCM package and it works directly and as part of a sequence of tasks to see if that makes a difference, but nothing I've done has activated the TPM module.

I know that the TPM module works, as you can turn it on manually and then Bitlocker can be applied to the machine, but with thousands of devices in our environment, I need to get this job without the need for manual intervention.

Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?  Or has someone at - he managed to activate the TPM on the SFF of 600 ProDesk G1 using the BIOS Setup utility?  Any ideas / suggestions would be very appreciated!

P.S. This thread was moved from the company PC - Compaq, Elite, Pro for HP PC Client management. -Hp moderator of the Forum

This problem has now been resolved by HP.

They provided a replacement motherboard for the test machine I was using that solved this problem. I don't know what kind of motherboard failure could prevent the activation via the script TMP chip but not prevent activation through the BIOS menu, but as a replacement solved the problem, then it must be a hardware failure.

  • How can a member of the family without an account standard security for the family... I have windows 7

I use to have security for the family, but it has just stopped working.  I need for a family member who does not have a standard account.  I downloaded Essentials.

    Hi jaguar1234,

The latest version of the parental control now uses the standard user accounts (logon Windows) as a child in the safety of the family. If you need to know about adding a user to the Windows login with standard privileges, please see this link.

Once you have finished creating a standard user account and that you want to manage under parental control, then follow these steps:

    1. run the parental control on a Windows account with administrator privileges. If this is your first time running the parental control, you need to sign in using your Microsoft Account.

    2. after login, select the standard Windows account that you want to monitor as a child by checking the box to the right of the name of the account, and then click Next after.

3 on the right, you will see members parental control with a list of drop down option. Click the menu drop-down, and then select Add standard account name.

    4. click on record. Wait until the installation is done.

    5. Once done, you should see the name of the account under Windows monitored accounts. To manage the account and setup of filters and restrictions, to connect on https://familysafety.microsoft.com, look for the child account name, and then click change settings.

If you are having trouble configuring your parental control, do not hesitate to reply to this post.

    Thank you.

  • How security are the links posted in the answers to the questions?

Earlier, I asked why the SP3 update to my SP2, explains a backup should be performed.  I was also asked why it was not conducted earlier. I'm still on SP2.  I don't want to lose the programs and software on my computer.  A backup really protect software as Front page?  With my answers provided the links and explanations, of course, I have not clicked.  People put these links in there for my benefit, but I still understand you're not not to click.  What I have to do is to try them on a computer that can take a bullet.

While you're wise to be cautious about possible bad things that can happen to a PC, you must realize that the mere fact of being online (for example, only the reading e-mail) will ALWAYS have its risks.

The irony is that because Windows has a large number of security vulnerabilities, the chances that your PC has been compromised (as well as your personal identity and financial information) is VERY high because you do not have a connected system! A system of Windows XP SP2 is VERY precarious. In fact, a number of people would like to recommend that you perform a clean install because of this.
For links, you can reduce the risk of passing the mouse over the link to verify that it does not change. In other words, if you receive an email from 'phishing' of what you THINK is your credit/bank card company (let's say it's Chase) and the link LOOKS good, the mouse over it and see if decides to link to a strange name that is not familiar.
But if a MS MVP as PA porter provides a link, I don't know that it will be safe.
Here are mousing over the examples:
This one REALLY goes to Google (you can predict that it will be by positioning the mouse on it and checking):
    It does not WORK:
(Note that it will STRIVE to go to google.cxw3q9, which does not exist!)
You're foolish to not be backing up your system! A reliable backup of the system WHOLE (by creating a clone or image of the ENTIRE disk) is the only way to protect your system, including ALL the programs installed on it! I prefer the image of the hard drive. Acronis True Image works fine. There are other programs, too, such as Paragon and Macrium Reflect, that to do this.
  • Malware infection? WinPatrol nortice of the program change - regedit.exe %1 - involved virus Registry Editor?

I use Winpatrol as one of my security features. Lately he has been asking me if the following program changes are acceptable:

    (2) "Winpatrol has detected a change to one of your file type associations. SCR
The program currently associated with this type of file is:

    Notebook
    MIcrosoft Corporation
    Notepad.exe %1
A change was made to use the following program for this file type:
    The registry editor
    Name
    Name of the company

Recently, my computer has been infected by a variety of viruses and spyware despite my ZoneAlarm and Malwarebyes loaded. I ran several other antivirus and anti-spyware programs and, possibly, these programs don't reported no malware or spyware was present.

I wonder if the above changes are made by a virus who missed the antivirus programs I have used.

I would appreciate any comments, advice or information on the changes above the Microsoft community since Microsoft software is involved in the changes requested. I really appreciated any help that can be given and thank you in advance for it.

Many anti-malware programs make changes to this file association as a way to protect yourself.

Types of files. SCR and. REG were often abused and used to encourage users to run what has proved to be malicious.   Programs change your default Notepad program to protect you.

You will notice that most browsers will run is more .reg files.  Instead they will display the text of the script if it is legitimate.  For a long time Outlook has not allowed to download. SCR files.

WilPatrol will warn you of this change and allow you to change it if you want, but what ever malware program performs this change will continue to try to change it to Notepad.

I usually recommend either using the Filetypes Lockdown feature in WinPatrol or just say WinPatrol does not monitor. SCR and. REG and let your other security program all supported.
