See Agent running Linux?

View Agent can be installed on a Linux machine?

The thought is to reload my old XP with Linux boxes and install the Agent from the view to connect to my Windows 7 VMs.

Is this possible?

Thank you.

What we call the 'view Agent' goes on the virtual desktop and the "Customer View" is on the device that accesses the virtual desktop computer.

So, for me, it looks that you want to have the view Client on your PC refurbished

In this case there are a number of options, first of all the VMware View Open Client, which is a version of the open source of the view Client that can be installed on a box of Linxux, here is the link: http://code.google.com/p/vmware-view-open-client/

Another option is to use a preconfigured as ThinStation linux boot cd, see this link: http://www.thinstation.org/

A third option is the business customer of DevonIT called VDI Blaster, it comes with full support PCoIP and management:

http://www.DevonIT.com/software/VDI-Blaster

Currently, there is no version Linux agent of sight, while Windows Desktop OS as virtual desktops.

How to configure a VM with multiple network cards to see Agent?

We can archive this requirement by configuring the subnet used view Agent.

The subnet determines which view address of Network Agent provides the server instance to connect to view for the client protocol connections. The view on VM officer has more than one NIC

    Follow the procedure below:

on a display Agent installed VM,

    * Recording of VM session.

    * RUN--> type regedit or type regedit.exe at the command prompt

    * Create a registry entry to configure the subnet.

    For example: is HKLM\Software\VMware, Inc. \VMware VDM\Node Manager\subnet = n.n.n.n/m type - REG_SZ.

In this example, n.n.n.n is the TCP/IP subnet, and m is the number of bits in the subnet mask.

I run Linux distributions on my desktop PC and from your description, the problem is almost certainly the lack of video drivers, especially in the case of the AMD video chipsets.

I'm not familiar with the Ark, but I don't know with Ubuntu, which I had problems driver AMD for several versions now, and the last, Xenial 16.04, fglrx drivers simply will NOT work because they are not supported with the new version of the kernel and will not be - as AMD is working on a new driver open source to replace fglrx.

HP forums provides no support for Linux issues, if my suggestion is to check with the forums Linux appropriate for each distribution.

In addition, as you use a video chipset AMD, you might find the info you need on the Phoronix forums: AMD/ATI Linux - Phoronix Forums

    Good luck

  • See Agent 5.2 and Teradici Audio Driver

    Hello

Anyone to see problems with the 5.2 view Agent and Teradici Audio Driver? It seems that the sound driver is not a signed driver. You include the Audio from VMware driver in the installation of the Agent from the view when you use the Audio of Teradici driver?

I see some issues, but I use Unidesk, so I can't say if the questions are seen or associated Unidesk.

    Mike

    Mike,

Looks like we are in a similar situation - Unidesk, view and the driver audio Teradici. I tried to deploy the version 1.2.0 pilots Teradici Audio with the Agent of the view (version 5.1.1 and 5.1.2 5.2.0), with any of these versions of the agent, the pilot would be not loaded on my virtual desktop PC and there is an error in the Device Manager. The detailed status message on which has been "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might be installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or maybe it's a malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52) ».

I went back to version 1.1.0 of Teradici audio driver and was able to use it with problems on my layers agent 5.1.1, 5.1.3 and 5.2.0. Of course the downside of this, I can tell you I had the problem, but never understood whence he came.

Your other question on deployment or deploy not drivers audio view Agent, I did install driver audio Teradici inside and without the audio driver see it installed. Currently I am doing all my installs the agent from view without the audio driver to see agent and just install the driver of Teradici. This is for two reasons: 1) I have seen cases where the default audio device is not always the Teradici driver (of course it's surface in places where I NEED it to be the default and 2) he works a few combintions view agent and the audio driver Teradici where install the audio Teradici causes the audio to view device is no longer so your end users end up with no noise at all. -Teradici or VMware had an article about it, I don't have casual not remember the exact version involved. So far with just the Teradici audio drivers installed, I didn't all sound related issue I reported.

  • running Linux rather than Windows as host

    Hello

I'm trying to start learning of VMware and I wonder which version of the operating system, it is best to run it as a host for VM workstation? Inside of the workstation, I'll run 2 instances of ESXi machines so I'll try to save some resources with Linux. Don't you think it's just if I install Linux instead of Windows 7? I really save you 1 GB of RAM, or not? (theoretically for 64-bit Linux, it's 384-512 MB of RAM and Windows 7, it's nearly 2 GB of RAM)

The bottom line is made the effort running Linux rather than Windows is worthing? Because it's a pain even with Linux.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

    Catalin

I think that you run your host operating system with what you are comfortable with.  My choice would be Windows 7 x 64.  ESXi running as a virtual machine in my computer would work fine, just follow a few best practices recommendations.

  • See Agent on Win 2003 R2

I'm trying to add some of my servers to see to make them easily accessible through my client to view.  I installed the agent of the view on the first server and restarted (windows 2003 r2).  When I go to create the pool and get to the point where I select the VM and I get a blank page.  If you click Show all, you see the machines and if you click on the 3 points you receive a message that says operating system not supported.  Please see the screenshot below.  Not sure where I'm wrong.  The server doesn't have a firewall running, no errors in the logs, and the view agent is running.

    Any thoughts?

    Brad

    add to pool 1.jpg

I'm not confused.  What you want to do is not supported as seen on page 15 installation guide, http://pubs.vmware.com/view-51/topic/com.vmware.ICbase/PDF/view-51-installation.pdf.    The agent is only supported when it is installed inside a server with the terminal server role server and configuration as well in a pool of TS.

With the help of Linux (Mint), when you try to download any application CC, for example Photoshop CC says:

In my opinion it is a bad habit to exclude the download of the products they paid for your customers!

Most of the Adobe applications runs only on Windows and Mac OS. You can see the system requirements by going to https://creative.adobe.com/products and choose a product. Then choose the system requirements tab. So for Photoshop, you will see:

    Tim

If you want to run a mail server in a guest who will accept inbound connections you most likely want to set up with Bridged networking.  This will actually put the prompt on the same network as your host is on.  After this, the same installation rules would apply to a physical system running a mail server:

Configure the host with a static IP address on your home network.  Verify that you can telnet to port 25 of the guest of a system on your home network.

Next, configure your box home firewall/NAT to redirect incoming connections on port TCP 25 for the static IP address that you have given your comments.  Then test that you can telnet to port 25 of a system outside your home network.

After that, you must configure the DNS records that are appropriate for your domain so that external hosts know how to communicate with your e-mail server.

  • Satellite P100-120 overheating running Linux Ubuntu 9.10

    Hello world

I use Ubuntu 9.10 running on a laptop Toshiba Satellite P100-120; I have a problem of overheating and the fan never put to cool my laptop.
Looking around, I found that several models of Toshiba Satellite have the same problem and I found that the only solution work seems to update the DSDT file by exploiting this feature on Linux kernels (kernel argument acpi = off is not a solution).

The problem is that the current Linux kernel of Ubuntu distributions can't take no more (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/395239).
Given that this problem seems to affect many models of Toshiba/people, I don't know that Toshiba has corrected it to a patch of BIOS; is there a reliable to tell me how I can find this patch?
I think that we need a BIOS patch because I tried to read the DSDT and indeed it includes bugs (if compile you it with the compiler Intel as described, you can find them).

    Commands to show bugs:
    sudo cat/proc/acpi/dsdt > dsdt.dat
    sudo iasl d dsdt.dat
    sudo iasl tcs - a.dsl

In the case that Toshiba does not provide a patch, can someone suggest me the reasons (I know that Toshiba is not officially compatible with Linux, but today the Linux community should be accompanied by resellers of computers)?

    Thanks in advance

    > In the case Toshiba does not provide a patch...
That of the problem. Toshiba doesn't support Linux, especially not for this model of laptop, so you have to search solution elsewhere.
Support Linux costs money, and why do we have if the books are not delivered with Linux.

In my opinion the best place to find solution or pickup a few tips useful and info is specialized Linux forums and communities.

  • 500 - 516nc Pavilion: Pavilion that keep me from installing and running Linux

    Hello

I recently bought the Pavilion 500-516nc with preinstsalled of Windows 8.1. I was intending to set up a dual-boot for the computer, as the seller claims that this machine is suitable for a number of operating systems.  However, I can't install and run the operating system I want.

UEFI mode, the computer is not USB, or the DVD-ROM and does not offer to start from other sources, with the exception of the Windows boot loader, even after I disabled the 'secure' boot When I go to the legacy, I can actually run the other OS live USB or DVD and I can install it. However, the legacy would not boot from the HARD disk for some reason any (perhaps because the disc capacity is too large?). And I can't find a way to make the system work, I installed through legacy mode UEFI.

I would not return the unit to the store, because it suits me almost all the other senses, but this issue is a big problem for me. What can we do about it?

    Best regards.

    No452, welcome to the forum.

I ran the systems dual boot for years using Windows and Ubuntu, Linux.  The best way to do this, it uses two hard disks.  Windows do not play nice with the other OS' are on the same hard disk.
