Select operating sys. at startup.

How to stop having to choose at startup opperating system up to?

Starting in Windows 7.

In the search programs and files, type msconfig and press enter. The window of the image I posted should appear. Select the Startup tab follow the advice I gave you in my previous post to put Windows 7 by default and set the time-out maybe 2 seconds, and select OK.

On your next startup in Windows 7 and Windows wil all you have to do is wait will start in 2 seconds.

  • XP hangs at mup.sys on startup

    MY DESKTOP FREEZES AT MUP. SYS ON STARTUP.  ANY IDEAS ON WHAT IS THE CAUSE?

    I think what AreilMT is getting in the light of the HARD drive blinks is the following:

    If you have a chkdsk scheduled to run at the next reboot (by responding affirmatively to the question, if you choose to run a chkdsk at the next restart), or if XP finds that any volume on your system that has been marked 'dirty', chkdsk will run when you restart.

    If you start in Mode without failure and chkdsk begins to run, the last thing you will see on the screen is mup.sys having been loaded... then the chkdsk will run in full.  Your system seems to be stuck.

    If the system appears to be hung on mup.sys and the HARD drive light flashes, it could be that the chkdsk command does what it is supposed to do or what you told it to do - check the volumes for consistency.  If this is the case and the HARD drive light flashes, you have to wait outside and which could take many, many hours depending on the size of your drive HARD, how many things about him and what chkdsk is to do.  Let it sit overnight if you must, but be patient.

    If this is NOT the case, then I suggest you power down, unplug everything except the keyboard and see if you can boot mode safe with only a keyboard attached.  If you have a PS/2 keyboard to use, I would use that instead of a USB keyboard.  A USB device or faulty driver can sometimes appear to hang on mup.sys to the system.

    It is also important to understand that the problem is not with mup.sys (it has already loaded) - it's what comes after mup.sys that could be the problem (if it is not running chkdsk).

    This is why there is zero logic when people see this scenario and begin to try to figure out how to replace mup.sys - that is not the problem, since it has already loaded.

    The next thing to load that sometimes causes problems is often the drivers keyboard and mouse - especially USB keyboards and mouse devices (mouse), therefore, you must unplug everything - especially USB devices.  You only need a keyboard plugged to press F8 to display the Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode and a PS/2 keyboard must be used if you can get your hands on one.

  • Hi, what are all the ongoing processes in the operating system during startup itself?

    Hello

    I want to know, what are all the ongoing processes within an operating system during startup/boot.
    Why system processes are always on.
    explain on the windows registry.

    In the order:

    Google each a wisht learn you more.

    Certain system processes are required for the various aspects of the machine - there are a lot of things to allow you to move the mpouse pointer and click on this shortcut and start the process related to it...

    You need to know about the registry of windows at this time - in view of two other queries.  It's just an honest observation.

    You may have to reinstall Vista from the original media or from the recovery partition according to the type of computer you have.

    Hope that you made the backup recommended all of your data before attempting to install Vista SP2.

    "OS error" is not so convincing, check the log events for the purpose. Perhaps you don't need this service, if you are not using MTS:

    /*
    ORACLEMTSRecoveryService allows Oracle databases to use as resource managers in Microsoft Transaction Server.
    */

    So the quick and dirty solution disable the service.

    Can someone please tell me what to do, to do a select on a table whose name is contained in a variable, as above?

    Hello

    Welcome to the forum!

    You need to dynamic SQL Instructions if the table or column names are variable.

    Get the current date is not a good example; you could get that without a query simply by saying:

    date_var := SYSDATE;

    In addition, SELECT... IN will raise an error if the query will return exactly 1 row.
    In the example below, let's get the last entry_date of a given table:
    For example:

    declare
         tablename_var     varchar(10);
         date_var      date;
         sql_txt           VARCHAR2 (1000);
    begin
         tablename_var := 'table_x;

         sql_txt := 'select  MAX (entrydate)'
              || '  from  ' || tablename_var;
         dbms_output.put_line (sql_txt || ' = sql_txt');    -- Not essential, but recommended
         EXECUTE IMMEDIATE  sql_txt  INTO date_var;

         dbms_output.put_line ('The latest entry_date is ' || date_var);
    end;

    Dynamic SQL is to create a string that contains the SQL statement. Output string is purely optional, of course, but it is a very good idea when writing and code off listening. Don't forget to comment or remove the display before moving the code into Production.

    For a year, make the column name of the variable, instead of the hard-coded entry_date.

    Thanks for any help
    Greg.

    Yes, I have the same problem as well. And have requested such assistance. Toshiba does not help this problem. I even paid technical support and they couldn't deal with it. But the only thing I've found works is that if you convert the hard disk to format GPT format, then maybe the laptop detects the hard drive via a usb connection, which you have described.

    before PROCEEDING I must warn you that if you do one of these things that YOU back UP THE information PRESENT ON OUR SSD, OKAY.

    So try and have access to a command prompt.

    You could just hit escape in your keyboard while making a start cold.

    Or even boot from a usb thumbdrive image operating system to access the repair options.

    Then try to access the command prompt.

    Type "diskpart" in command prompt. Then press

    Enter "list disk" in command prompt. Then press

    Find your hard drive from the list of hard drives. Make sure that you fit the hard drive on the list with the size of the disk ssd.

    Once you do this, note the number of the disk.

    Once you make a note of it, select this drive by following these steps:
    Enter "Select disk (for example" select disk 3 ' would be a good example, but it depends on YOUR disc for your ssd number). " Then press

    Enter the command 'convert to GPT", press

    You will see a message response to leave the command prompt you stating the conversion process succeeded in TPG.

    And if you get a message that it could not be converted, then maybe it's because you have information on him and he needs to be formatted to convert format MBR to GPT format.

    ALright. Well he he converted to GPT, and then we continue:

    (1) of type "exit".

    (2) the first step to exit the command prompt.

    (3) restart your computer.

    (4) try to install windows from usb media and ensure that your hard drive is detected in the installation menu.

    Note: If you still don't see not your hard drive then convert the hard disk MBR format in the same way that I told you to do it with the conversion to the GPT format. Then you can consider making a virtual hard drive partition on the SSD, as TPG VHD format and simply boot from your usb thumbdrive and access os repair to have access to the cmd prompt to attach the virtual hard disk options.

    type diskpart. Press ENTER.

    NOTE make sure your hard drive designated virtual name.

    type of the select vdisk file = ------------.

    Type "attach vdisk" press ENTER.

    It will spit out an answer saying that you attached with success.

    type of flight from the list, and then press enter

    find the letter of your thumbdrive os install.

    Once you find it, hold that thought in your head.

    Press exit.
    type followed by a colon ( press enter)

    as in the following line type the word "setup".

    You should get a pop-up of the start screen for the installation of your windows operating system. Yes, click on setup. Agree to the terms. Do a custom installation and NOW YOU WILL SEE your virtual hard drive partition and now you could install os windwos on it.

    Please note: it worked only with image bootable usb windows 8.1 carrier os and not for windows 7 and it may work for windows 10, but I'm not too sure that it will work because it has not worked for me.

    I hope this helps. If you still have problems with detecting the ssd or HDD virtual so I don't know what to tell you. I must warn you that if you do one of these things that YOU back UP THE information PRESENT ON OUR SSD, OKAY.

    How to use disk management to configure basic disks in Windows XP

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/309000

    Use a third-party tool to resize disk space on drive D: to C: drive. It is not wise to have so little space on the C: drive. If this is not the case, my suggestions for you are to erase these unwanted files left inside your machine. Either you use the "Disk Cleanup" from the beginning--> Accessories--> System Tools-->--> C: drive disk cleanup select to clean or just type cleanmgr.exe in the field run, select C: drive to clean. You can delete unwanted files manually, type the commands to follow in Start--> field run and remove all these files in the listed files.

Full uncompressed needs SP3 390 MB of disk space on your machine, and after installing SP3 will be create a folder in C:\WINDOWS which contains uninstall for SP3 files, in case you should uninstall SP3 and go back to SP2. That said file also needs disk space, and it is not advisable to delete this folder.

  • After the reduction of volume, I get "selected Operation will convert dynamic disks.

    Disk partitioning error

    I recently bought a laptop HP with Windows 7 Home Edition Basic, wanted to shrink the C drive to create another partition. However, after the reduction of the volume, I got this error:

    Operation you selected will convert dynamic disks. You will not be able to boot the operating system from any other volumes on the disk.

    It's because win7 only supports 4 basic primary partitions and your system already has 4.

    Don't not procceed in dynamic conversion because it will cause other problems later.

    If you do not create the partion when / if you are using the HP recovery disks that will destroy any partition that you created.

    If I were you I would like to extend C to use this free space, you created i.e. cancel what you were doing in the shrinking, and then explain the purpose of the planned partition.

    Hello

    Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

    According to the description, I understand that you are unable to select another option of Windows.

    Thanks for the screenshot.

    I would like to know some information.

    1. How long are you facing this problem?

    2. Were you able to see the option Windows 8.1 front?

    As I can see in the screen shot Windows 8.1 is not listed it may not be installed correctly before.

    You may have to reinstall Windows 8.1 again.

    Hope this information helps. Please let us know if you need any other help with Windows in the future. We will be happy to help you.

  • The VM startup slow down, delay long before the guest operating system begins startup

    Evaluation of VMWare to set up the VM for the maintenance of the software. Set up a virtual machine, install Windows 7 SP1 32-bit, everything works well. Once started, the performance is excellent.

    The symptom is that when you start the virtual machine, either starting from cold boot or suspend, there is a significant delay before the power of VMware on / start screen is displayed. Once it appears, the operating system starts starting (or the recovery of wakefulness) quickly and performance is normal after that. During the start-up period, the whole system is insensitive, host and guest operating system.

    See the extract of newspaper below to 09:54:28.619 moment where the delay occurs followed by the entry concerning 09:55:11.625 time when start continues, a delay of 43 seconds during which nothing seems to happen and the system does not respond. After that, everything is fast.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    Hello

    I know what you want to say as I've seen sometimes as well. But especially on older hardware or if there are problems with regard to particular resources. For example I saw this on an ESX host (yes I know product different) where there was a problem with the storage not enough providing IOPS / s.

    I saw also this on older versions of Linux (IIRC 7) workstation where the host had an Atom based CPU, there I updated to more RAM and a more recent version of the workstation and the problem disappeared.

    Then I also saw it on the 4/5 merger when my host operating system was out of memory and I tried to start another operating system to prompt anyway.

    I do not consider a normal behavior for the slow start and does not respond, it is an indication that the hypervisor is seeking some resources, but does not receive them fast enough.

    The reasons can be many. Indeed things like antivirus could be biting you if she tries to analyze all files (including virtual disks) at their opening.

    FWIW, I also understand the support response as would be expected if your host is a bit thin on the resources (for example, trying to start a VM 1 GB on a host Win7 with only 3.5 GB of RAM) and if the virtual machine runs OK after the initial startup delay, it's mostly just an annoyance.
