Sensor cleaning question

Hi all!

Zoom by itself will not change the size of a sensor dust spot, but the place will become short, and so small, that the opening is reduced.

Depending on what device you have you can or can not have self sensor cleaning. It occurs whenever you stop or restart the device. You can also force this one operating step with the red arrow in the screen shot below.

If you have a Rocket Blower (never use canned air), you can try manual ccleaning - blue arrow.

You remove the lens, press manual cleaning and the mirror goes up and the shutter opens. Give a few whiffs of the blower and see if you can dislodge the dust spot.

You can Google vidoes on how to clean the sensor.

How can we clean up the FRA NO cleaning is not the FRA through rman?

    Just use:

  • question about cleaning the sensor of the A57

    Dear community of Sony,

I have several questions about the cleaning of the sensor of the A57.

Recently, I noticed several dark specs appearing on images when shooting at low opening (F20, F22), especially when there are high for them (like the sky in a landscape photo) contrast. To my knowledge, I've categorized as possible of dust on the sensor. I have read the section of the manual about cleaning the sensor and followed the procedure. However, the problem remained. I have previous experience with cleaning of the more resistant the probe of a Sony NEX dust particles, so I applied it to the A57. I used the specialized sensor cleaning tools combining two parts kit - wet and dry. Noted little dust on translucent mirror as well, so I cleaned up afterwards. Later, I considered this mirror could have some specialized coatings.

So my first question is: should I have done some permanent damage the mirror or the sensors? Currently, the camera works OK, although some features of dust still remain. It seems that I had pushed some of them to the edges of the sensor.

I'm not so happy with the tool that I used. I'm thinking about this one for a more thorough cleaning:

    http://www.digitaltoyshop.co.UK/Eyelead_sensor_cleaning_kit_SCK-1_Sony_Alpha_A57_t2836_6789

It is marketed as a tool for A57. Should I use it?

    Thank you in advance?

    Best regards Angel Marinov

PS: I'm really happy with my Sony A57 and the NEX. They made me a fan of Sony. So, I want to use this topic to also say thank you to the developers of Sony.

    Hello Angel!

Read the following steps carefully and let us know if you have any other questions.

  • Should I clean the sensor before mounting the new lens?

Hello guys! Sorry for stupid question, but I'm not sure I know the correct answer. One of the devices that I use is Canon 5 d classic, and there a lot of dust on the sensor and the viewfinder (not unusual for 5di). I just got a new goal, and I wonder if there is a possibility for the dust on the sensor/viewfinder to get inside the lens while filming? Or I have to clean the viewfinder/sensor before mounting? Or just forget to dust as will evertually get inside the lens of dust? Thank you! I appreciate your answers!

    Good advice so far...

    1. you don't have to worry about the use of your lens on the camera. The goal is pretty well sealed against dust, so all the dust that's in the mirror in the camera box is unlikely to migrate into the lens (it is more likely to migrate on the sensor, but even what is low risk). There is no such thing as completely dust free a lens, anyway. A few grains of dust inside a lens have virtually no effect on the images.

    2. you probably should take advantage of your membership CPS to have the camera, cleaned and checked.

But you can also learn how to clean yourself. Some call it the classic 5 d a magnet 'dust '... Just, I think he's got a big sensor dust get on and does not have a self-cleaning feature because is on later models. It's going to get dusty again, you can bet. So at least you might want to get a blower bulb ("Rocket Blower" is a brand) and learn to use it.

You probably already know, seen in the viewfinder of the dust is usually harmless. It is usually on the mirror or on the focus screen and will not be displayed in the images taken with the camera (unless she manages to migrate on the sensor itself, which is hidden and protected behind the shutter with the exception of the brief moment when an image is rendered).

If the dust seen in the viewfinder appears sharp and in short, it is on the focus screen. If it is fuzzy and blurry, it's on the mirror. Unless you know how and have the right tools for the job, it is not a good idea to give the focus screen and nothing more aggressive than a breath of air from a blower bulb mirror. These can be cleaned more thoroughly, but both are very easily damaged: the screen is optical plastic and can be ruined by using the right type of gasoline on it. The mirror is before coating aluminium vaporized, so is very easily damaged. Aside from an occasional breath of air from a blower bulb, I recommend to leave the mirror screen and concentrate only until you have done a professional cleaning.

A more serious problem to monitor does not light seals. There are seals foam around the edge of the focus screen, which builds the mirror upward against when it is triggered, to keep stray light out of the box mirror during exposure. Over time, these seals foam begins to degrade and may throw particles or even coat of glue holding them in place on the mirror screen and focus. In general, clean up the damage, remove the old and install new foam gaskets are a little tricky, so I recommend that you have any replacement of the foam seal done by a professional. (Also, there are foam seals similar elsewhere inside the camera that are likely to need replacement too, if the joints in the mirror box go wrong. A pro will know what is needed and have the skills to work deeper inside the camera.)

Time does not always have to send a camera in for a simple cleaning of the sensor, so it's something that you can learn to do it yourself. There are two sites that discuss good detail: www.cleaningdigitalcameras.com and www.copperhillimages.com. The first is maintained by independent, professional camera repairmen who also are providers of the repair industry and sell most of the specialized tools and supplies needed for the cleaning of the sensor. The second part of the merchant site one of special cleaning procedures ("Copper Hill Method"). Both sites have good information. Read them carefully before performing any cleaning yourself.

If you decide to learn how to clean the sensor yourself, some things you need to know...

Never use a q-tip common (i.e., "Q-Tip") inside a camera. They throw cotton fibers that can enter and jam of delicate mechanisms.

Check the manufacturer's website you plan any liquid sensor cleaning aid is formulated and approved for your particular camera.

No matter what digital camera that has never had the sensor cleaned almost always need a "wet" cleaning first. This is because there is almost always oils on the sensor (actually in most of the cameras the surface to be cleaned is a filter which covers and protects the sensor). These oils are excess thrown out of the shutter mechanism. Any method of "dry cleaning" that touches the sensor will coat oils and make things worse. If a "wet cleaning" is always advocated, first time around.

It is important to have some the aircraft batteries fully charged before cleaning and work quickly, so that to be able to hold the mirror up and the door is open doesn't work low allowing the shutter to close and the mirror to fall on a tool used for cleaning. Professional cleaners often use a continuous supply instead of a battery, to be sure.

It is convenient to have a magnifying glass Magnifier and light any for easy cleaning. When you view the sensor at the front, don't forget that the image is upside down and reversed. Thus, for example, if you have seen a job in the corner upper lefhand of your images, when you view the sensor directly you will find straw incriminated in the lower right corner.

You usually have a variety of tools to do a multi-step cleaning...

"Fan bulb cleaning' to blow the free particle outside ("Rocket Blower").

"Wet cleaning" with approved optical and fluid swabs from cleaning to remove oils and the particles more strongly respected ('Copper Hill method kit', 'Pecs Pads", 'Pécs swabs', 'Eclipse' solution) of sensor cleaning.

'Adhesive cleaning' using a slightly sticky surface take off slightly adhered particles ('Dust Aid').

'Cleaning antistatic brush' stubborn Claire, remaining slightly adhered particles and to reduce static electricity that attracts dust ("Arctic Butterfly").

"Deleting individual speck" with a reusable precision tool ("Speck Grabber").

"Final Polish" always is a last step to remove the haze left by gasoline ("by LensPen sensor pen"). It also helps to discourage the dust sticks to the surface again.

I've included a few brand names of the products in parentheses as examples. There may be other equally effective products.

Most of the time I find myself with several or even all of these when I do a cleaning of the sensor.

    See you soon!

  • Access the function of cleaning the computer sensor - Canon T3/1100D

    Hello

I wonder if it is possible to access the sensor (in the menu) of computer cleaning option. I have a T3/1100D and the buttons on the rear panel (including menu) doesn't work anymore. Once I theater the camera to take pictures, this isn't a big deal. However, I do not know if I completely lost the function of sensor cleaning... Appreciate any help on this.

    Best,

    Cassiano.

Maybe you can switch the camera on video shooting mode if it works.

That could raise the mirror. Then, assuming that the camera allows you to remove the lens without any security override flipping the mirror down, you will have a clear view of the sensor.

Take a rocket blower and do your best to blow off the dust on the sensor. Which works better than self cleaning anyway. Go ahead and blow the mirror too when lower you it if it has no fuzzies appears in the viewfinder as you address the issue.

    Good luck!

  • Cleaning of the CPS coupons

Hi guys. It has been that Canon has sent coupons for lens/sensor cleaning to members of the CPS, when you renew your membership. When the last time I renewed my subscription and improved Platinum membership, I have no cleaning coupons. Anyone know what is happening with the coupons? I call support Canon CPS, but I just wanted to see if some of you guys know about it. Thank you!

They did away with coupons and just keep track of you on their computers. That seems to work OK. The last time I was at Jamesburg, I filed two cameras and two glasses. They looked me up and told me that I had five future cleanings. (If I had known that they raised the question to five (for Gold members), I tried to find something to contribute, because my membership year would turn more than a month later.)

  • Canon product sensor reviews

So, I just bought a T6i.  After getting it home and play with him, I thought that I would like to surf the net to find sites like this and just check for stuff and I came across this product Advisory on the sensor.

I read about it on the Canon Website and found that my serial number is one that can be carried out.  I checked the battery compartment for the black mark as indicated in the notice, and it is difficult to tell whether he is indeed marked or not.  I save my camera with Canon.  I don't really want to send somewhere to get checked as I just bought it and going on vacation and want to be with me.

    Questions-

Has anyone here sent their camera in for inspection?

How long did take - door to door?

Canon pays for shipping in both directions?

How will I know if I have the bad sensor myself (if there is a test)?

    Thank you

    John

You can find more info on theissueto this web page.

First of all, look at the serial number of your camera. If the first two digits of the number are "01" or "02", then it is possible that your camera has the problem. If this is not the case, there should be no problem. If yours has a serial number inside these ranges, search for the "black dot", indicating that it's been fixed inside the battery compartment (as shown in the above web page).

If you don't see the black spot... or simply want to confirm that it is correct...

    1. turn the camera on, remove the lens and put the camera in the sensor cleaning mode (in menus). This raises the mirror of the road and opens the shutter, so you can see the sensor. You need to visually inspect a light and a magnifying glass magnification. Be sure not to touch anything there or get dust/dirt inside the camera while making this inspection. When finished, turn off the camera you wish to cancel the cleaning mode.

    2. Alternatively, or to double check, take just a few photos with the camera tests. Turn off voltage auto focus and defocus the goal. Set the aperture of the lens to f22 (you will need to use the mode to manual exposure or Av for that... other modes will force you to use other openings of the lens) and then one or more shots of something really simple, like a clear blue sky or a simple white wall. Inspect the test closely shots on your computer, looking for black spots.

You should not need to send the camera, unless you find a problem.

  • "err 06.

I have an EOS 40 d (oldie but goodie).

Sometimes camera will not turn on (power off switch to it), even with a freshly charged battery.

When you turn it on, the camera shows 06 ERR in cleaning sensor unit, and I can't use the camera at all.

I could find the "hard reset" instructions on the internet (power off, remove the batteries, turn the monitor for 5 minutes, then insert the batteries). This disabled the error code, but he came back a few weeks later. I disabled since the automatic sensor cleaning on the menu of the unit; I don't know if this will prevent the error in the future.

It is an old camera of 9 year old (about 80 K exhibitions, if I remember correctly).

Has anyone else had service to resolve this problem? I tried to request service through the website of Canon, but it does not list the centers of service for my zip code (maybe they do not service the 40 d more). The cost estimates for this repair?

I am interested in oponions to the community: it is better it maintenance for a few hundred dollars, against about $900 for a new body of 70 d?

Sensors have improved so much in recent years that if I had to put money into anything... it would go to a new camera body rather than repair the old body.

Call Canon and ask questions about their loyalty program.  You will find that your old camera is worth a nice discount to a most recent cmaera.  Loyalty program cameras are changing all the time and it can be given to nine model rather than a new model (you can ask).

A 70 d (for example) offers 20 megapixels (against your current 10 mp) includes a series of ISO 100-12 800 (compared to your current course of 1600).   There is a upgrade... the shooting speed, system development, the performance of the sensor, the touch screen, the ability to shoot and have continuous autofocus during video, etc..

I do not pretend that you should get a 70 d... I suggest that you have more options to consider (the 70 d being one of them).  The 6 d is also in this price range, but it's a full-frame sensor (with much better high sensitivity and low noise only).

  • Satellite P300-161: alarm low and criticism not fire

    Hello.

I just bought a Satellite P300-161 with Vista and every time alarm if there is only a pop-up notification at the low or critical level, you but no sound alarm. I checked the settings under "advanced power management" and "battery" and both have the value default to 'ON' for low and critical battery alarm.

I also made sure there is a noise linked to these events under 'Hardware and sound', 'System sounds' and "low battery alarm" and a criticism.

The default sounds are really sweet so I registered and chosen my sensors clean up but still no luck.

I did a search on google and apparently several people had the same problem. In addition to suggest to both look like the above parameters, some have said that it is a general problem with Vista that will be fixed with service pack 1. I already service Pack1 so that does not solve it.

The other thing that I found via google is that apparently Vista doesn't offer it through the message system, but makes it available for 3rd party software. It seems ridiculous that Toshiba withdrew its usefulness because of power management especially in Vista.

I wouldn't mind an alarm from the BIOS, but looking at the settings, I couldn't find all the options. I can only note a pop up and if I play music or something, I have completely run out and the computer into hibernation which is really annoying.

I would be grateful if anyone has any suggetions on how to solve the problem.

    Alfonso.

Open the Volume mixer and make sure that Windows sound option is not set to mute.
