Sequence of update for vSphere 5.5

I have improved my 5.1 to 5.5 U1 vCenter first, I can spend vCloud Director of 5.1 to 5.5 and vShield Manager as the next steps. However, according to the sequence of update, it should be vCloud director, followed by vShield manager then vCenter server. Please help me to know what questions I can tackle during or after the upgrade, this way.

I found answers in the following two discussions: -.

  • Request concerning the sequence of updates for the Windows Update client in 2015

I posted a query similar to this on a Microsoft Technet forum, but I have not yet received a response to the specific question that I asked.  I'm trying so this forum.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1, but I did not intend to accept the free update of Windows 10.  I don't use automatic updates.  I use Windows Update manually and select the updates to install, even for these updates identified as Important.

Since April 2015, there was a sequence of updates for the client Windows Update on Windows 7 (Windows 8).  I have the Windows 7 of those below list:

    KB2990214 (April 2015)

    KB3050265 (June 2015)

    KB3065987 (July 2015)

    KB3075851 (August 2015)

    KB3083324 (September 2015)

    KB3083710 (October 2015)

    KB3102810 (November 2015)

    KB3112343 (December 2015)

(This list is probably less intimidating than it looks because the replaced October update Update September, which replaced the August update, which replaced the July update, which replaced the June updated.  "There are therefore basically just 4 updates.)

The big question is, given that Windows 7 is available for several years, why, all of a sudden, there was this sequence of updates for the Windows Update client?  Because these updates began to occur at the time when the offer of a free upgrade to Windows 10 was announced, I could be forgiven for thinking that all of these updates are really directed towards the relaxation of the upgrade to Windows 10 via Windows Update, and that there is little or no advantage to systems that are not upgrading.  I am mistaken in this belief?  If not, precisely those who will benefit from my system, even if it is not upgraded to Windows 10?

The updates that I currently installed, depending on the installed updates, are KB2990214 (April 2015), KB3075851 (August 2015), KB3083324 (September 2015) and KB3083710 (October 2015).

In my view, there was a lack of transparency in the descriptions of these updates in the KB articles.  And, in one or two cases, information on the importance of an update in the article and in Windows Update has been inconsistent.  It would have been much clearer if each KB article stated for NOT upgrading to Windows 10 systems, if the update to the Windows Update client is important, as an option or completely irrelevant.

    Hello, Tiberius.

    Thank you for your response.

I'm sorry for the late reply.

  • Update for vSphere 6.0 U2 with FC SAN

    Hello

starting in January, I have created a new environment with 5 a cluster and SAN FC connected host.

For now this forum Works 6.0 U1 and I want to upgrade to U2 with the Update Manager.

KB 2109712 I found more note: "If a Fibre Channel SAN network is connected to the host, unpin the fiber connections before continuing with the upgrade or migration...". »

First of all, I want to update one of the five hosts to check if all goes well.

I really need to disconnect the FC connections for a U1 U2 update?

If a San is connected to the host, detach the fibers before continuing with the upgrade or migration. Do not disable HBA cards in the BIOS.

I see this in ESXi 5.5 and 6.x ESXi Upgrade best practices documents and KBs but that is really not necessary.

I have improved many hosts from 5.x to 6.x and installed 6 patches with FC SAN storage connected and without any problems.

If we still need to put host in Maintenance mode to install updates and who also unplug all IOs with san storage.

Disconnection of SAN is recommended when you use a scripted installation or manual or boot from SAN, to ensure that accidentally any other LUN Prod didn't get selected during installation.

as long as you use the update for the upgrade Manager, you're good.

  • Question about the database update for Vsphere 4.1 to 5.1

    Hello

We are about to upgrade our environment vsphere 4.1 and 5.1. I have a question regarding the upgrade of the vcenter server. Today, we have installed SQL SERVER 2005 Express database and what I get when I run the setup I will be invited to install 2008 r2 express or use the existing database. I guess I picked the new installation 2008 r2 express database? This will keep my DB inventory and just install the new DB SSO and tables?

I read that you need to run som aswell from the installation CD SQL queries but are - that if you choose the existing database?

    hope you understand

If you are doing a new installation of 51u1/5.1, the DB that is installed is 2k8R2 express... However, on the update from versions 4.x 2 k 5 db is preserved.

  • Update for vSphere 4 to vSphere U 1 dependency error (made obsolete by host)

    Hello world

I'm trying to update a server vShere 4.0.0 to U1. I tried this using the Manager Update and when it does not work I used esxupdate on the console of the host. I get the same error on both of these methods:

    DependencyError: cross_emulex-cim - provider_400.2.0.27.1 - 164009 provides ' emulex-cim-supplier > = 400.2.0.27.1' (required by the rpm_vmware-esx-cim_4.0.0-1.9.208167@i386), but is rendered obsolete by the host

This dependecy problem is originally the whole update to fail. I have included the esxupdate.log. Suggestions anyone?

    Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem and was caused by an incompatibility HBAanywhere, I installed it to upgrade the version of the Emulex firmware, I uninstalled the RPM and everything worked perfectly.

To find the package that you want to uninstall:

    ~] # rpm - qa | grep elx

    elxvmwarecorekit-esx40 - 4.0 has 44-1

    To uninstall:

    rpm - e elxvmwarecorekit-esx40 - 4.0 has 44-1

  • Update for vSphere 4.0

Currently we have 2 ESX host running version 4.0 on vmfs3. We add 2 extra guests and more storage, I want to spend to ESXi 5.0 on vmfs5. The approach that I consider lance 5.0 on the vCenter Server ESXi hosts (after I have migrated to vCenter 5) and current virtual machines of the migration to the new hosts. How should I handle ugprading the file system on the current system to allow vmfs5? Any thoughts here?

    Thank you!

Pass first vCenter to 5.0.  Build your new ESXi hosts and set up your new storage/LUN on VMFS5 devices.

Move your virtual machines to hosts on new data warehouses.  Note that you can not pass the data store if the virtual machines hosted on the pre - 5.0 hosts stored on, i.e. VMFS5 requires ESXi5.

If you want to take advantage of all VMFS5 has to offer, you will essentially have to clean the previous storage location, then start again.  When you upgrade VMFS3 at 5, your current block size persists.  So if it is something else that 1 MB, it will remain as such.  There are other relics that stick around.

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

  • MCBUILDER. EXE running rampant, competing with updates for CPU and possibly associated with an update failed chess SP2 and the backup and restore

Running Vista Home Premium SP1 and the system has been slow and freezing. MCbuilder appear to be using 50 to 100% of CPU, and it is a process that seems no way of killing. I disabled in Services, but again, it seems to start without any particular reason and hinders attempts to install programs or updates vista hogging resources. This can be associated with a problem that has arisen since June because I am not able to perform backups or set restore points (gives the error "0 x 81000101 the creation of a shadow copy has timed out"). I tried to install SP2 in the hope that it will not solve the problem, but the failure of installation and install KB947821 doesn't seem to work either. As the restoration of the system is defective, I would be grateful for the pointers to the resolve or completely remove this mcbuilder problem.

You have COMODO or AVG Antii-virus installed on your system?  It is known problems with these two programs and MCbuilder.exe.  I don't have Microsoft Resource Builder Cache as a service in the Services (so I can't activate or deactivate it)-you which version of Vista to help (bit, SP-number version)?  I have 32 bit Vista Business SP2. I see no way to turn it off in order to close it with the Task Manager when it is - with the exception, but who could become annoying if it happens frequently and with multiple instances.  I could find nothing useful in Knowledge Base Microsoft on it hogging resources although I've seen a few threads using Bing (which is where I came up with COMODO and AVG anti-virus conflicts).

You can be infected by malware (which may be the origin of the program to activate and run "without reason"). While in Test Mode safe mode (press F8 during startup and select mode safe mode with networking repeatedly) to run anti-malware programs. To resolve this problem (if it is a problem) download, install, and run the following two programs: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php and http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html.  You can also try a free trial of Pandasoft (www.pandasoft.com).  Before you download pandasoft, uninstall all anti-virus program you currently use (because the installation and execution of two simultaneously can cause conflicts, freezes and all sorts of problems).  Once you have uninstalled your current AV program, download, install, update and scan using Pandasoft.  I think you might be amazed at how much she notes that other software missed.  Once complete, uninstall pandasoft and re - install your current AV program (unless you decide to spend that I did when I tried about 4 years ago).  You can also try the new, free Microsoft Security Essentials http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/default.aspx (with the same caveat that only program AV one ALONE can be installed and running on your system at any time). Restart after finishing all the scans and see if the problem has been resolved.

Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started (which can be a problem if it began all the way back in June - you should have posted here then when this process would probably have worked).  Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/.  Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points (but I doubt that you will have a pretty far back and forth to the system restore may not be a viable option).  If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two.  NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.

If the system restore does not work, do a startup repair, boot from the disk Installation of Windows Vista genuine (or one that you can borrow from someone) or a recovery disc.  Here is the procedure: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html.  You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD.

If this does not work, try to start in safe mode (repeatedly hit F8 key so that the start and go in safe mode with networking).  Then we will check some of your system files:

Go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run.  It will scan and try to correct some of your system files.  If all goes well it will complete with no corruption, he couldn't fix it (if there is such corrouption post here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228.  I bet there is something involving the program or associated with this program.

If this does not work, you will need to do a repair/system upgrade using the Windows Vista Installation disc authentic (you own or that you can borrow from someone).  Here is the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html as well as the upgrade from an earlier version of the Windows section of the following: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918884.  Although this will not affect your data, settings or programs, you should always back up your data before you start just be on the safe side.

I hope one of these procedures can solve your problem (probably the SFC command or controls anti-virus).  If this isn't the case, after return and we will try something else.  Return message anyway so we know how it turns out.

BTW, for update of the problems you are having with SP2, post on the Forum of Windows Update to: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/threads where the people who specialize in update issues will be happy to help you with your concerns and get SP2 running on your system (perhaps despite this particular problem).  As you say, it can even solve the problem - who knows.

    Good luck!

  • Updated for first 2015.3 CC and now Audio dropped from stuttering frame-type questions...

I've just updated for first CC 2015.3 on my system running on Windows 7, 32 GB of RAM, quad-xeons double...

Seemed like a good idea...  Now, the sound stutters and drop frames.

I have a multi-boot system, so I just loaded Adobe CC on my boot Windows 10.
Always first 2015.3 does not play correctly and stutters.
Has created a new project-sequence and placed an MP3 on the timeline without any video. Looks a sort of boat engine during playback and the visuals on the counters still indicate stuttering as well.

Anyone else having this problem after the update?
How can I get my 2015.2 or whatever I had on my system?  There is no menu drop down more on install to install an older version [other sites showed a fall to the bottom of the box where you can install the CC 2014 version but I have yet to see it]

Major project I want to do and now the first is completely useless after this upgrade.

If 100% fresh install go on Windows 10 Virgin operating system still has flaws that had my configuration of Windows 7 operating system, I'm not clear how 2015.3 playback can be rectified?

After some troubleshooting I've narrowed the issue until this CC first 2015.3 don't like my graphics card, a SoundBlaster Z and its parameters.  2015.2 worked fine, but now the sound stutters and playback is extremely agitated turn upgrade.

For this project, I am just finishing, I'll use, of all things, the HDMI sound goes to my computer screen.  The Nvidia graphics card I do not mind reading.  I'll tinker later and see if I can find a permanent solution...
