  • Cannot set a home page

I just installed Dreamweaver CS4 and I'm learning how to use the program. Unfortunately, the book I have is for CS3. According to the instructions that I have, after you create an index.html file, I should be able to right click on the file, and then select set as homepage. When I right click on the file, I don't get this option. I tried the scrapping everything and start again from the beginning, but nothing changes. I'm doing something wrong or is there another way to set the home page? Here is a screenshot of what I see when I right click on the file.

It is not in CS4. The definition of a homepage feature was on the Site map and I guess that no one used, Site map view was not in CS4. So, ignore that exercise on the definition of a home page.

Regarding browsers find your homepage on your website, all you need to do is name your homepage index.html or index.htm or index.php... in any case the server will search the index file when a request arrives for www.yourwebsite.com.

  • How to set multiple home pages without also getting the page General options?

I have two tabs with the sites I want as my home page. To set them as my homepage I have to open the tab options to access the general Panel. If I click on the button "use current Pages", it also saves the options under my home page page, that I don't want. I tried with the "open new windows in a new tab instead" checked and unchecked with the same results.

Hmm, this looks like something that should be fixed.

For now, I think you need to delete manually on: preferences in the list. Assuming that this is the third tab, click in the home page address box and press the end key to move the cursor to the right. You can use the BACKSPACE key to delete all: preferences and the last. separator. Does it work?

  • Link to the user to set default Home Page

I have a question. Is there a way to set the default homepage of the user in the portal through a link on a portal page? The reason is that I'm working on a construction site where users will want to go to specific pages by default but we don't want to teach people about the features of the portal. In our case, were eager to ensure that users do not need to go anywhere, but to what is displayed on the pages to do any task, they will have to do. Any suggestions?

    David,

a similar question has already been answered in this forum, that is to say: How to configure the user profile home page using the portal API?

The idea is to create a code that calls the procedure .set_value_as_varchar2_by_id of wwpre_api_value, because the default home page (whether for a user or group) is managed as a preference.
If the code is built as a procedure, then you can just add a link that calls the procedure (custom article or another method). It will be more convenient for the user to implement an Ajax call to avoid a re-display full page.
In this case, you must add a small piece of code in Javascript, in a model for example.

affects the search bar, search bar URL, and the home page.

  • How to set the home page as a tab, that tab is always visible?

I want to be able to have the homepage as a visible tab that when I visit other sites that I can leave these sites open while I jump to the home page, without having to leave the site when I get home. This gives greater flexibility when they surf on the web and select the tab function be used to its full potential.

One possibility would be to pin the tab with the home page via the context menu of this tab, so it appears as the first tab and make sure that you open links in a new tab.

You can use Ctrl + 1 to go to the first tab and use the context menu to close all other tabs if you want to open the tab of the home page and get rid of other tabs.
