Set to automatic update has affected my iTunes software

My PC recently received a big aut-update to Windows 7. When it is installed, my iTunes software has stopped working.  Double-clicking the icon has no effect (beyond see the hourglass - now the circle - appear for a short period). I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes in the right order and we tried a system restore to an earlier point without effect. can anyone help?  Thank you.

Hello Ian GK,

Go to Services and then DISABLE the Hello Service. Then, restart Windows. Hello to restart Windows Service should not be running, and you should be able to use the Windows Installer Cleanup utility and complete uninstallation.

Now, download the version of iTunes again and see if you can install it and get it working again.

It is an article of Apple dealing with issues after updating to iTunes. May be useful for the resolution of problems for you.

  • Cannot install the updates, receive error message: automatic updates has been disabled by the administrator, but I don't.

Original title: How can I, as an administrator, turn on automatic updates, whenever I try, I get an error message saying that automatic updates has been disabled by the administrator.  I didn't do it, then?

    Question stands as is.

    Hello

    1. have you made any changes to the computer before the show?

    2. What antivirus application is installed on the computer?

    3. What are the different user accounts on the computer?

This problem occurs if Windows Update has been disabled by one of the following settings:

    · Group Policy

    · System policy
    · Registry

I suggest you follow these methods and check.

Method 1: Perform the clean boot and try to install the updates.

To do this, follow the steps in this link:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

NOTE: Once you check the functionality, follow the suggestions under steps to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state.

Method 2: Try to turn on the auto update by following the steps in the link below.

How to configure automatic updates by using Group Policy or of registry settings

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/328010

Registry warning: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 322756

How to back up and restore the registry in Windows

Method 3: Turn off the antivirus application and try to download the updates and check.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 4: Perform a full scan of the computer using the following antivirus applications.

    Microsoft Safety Scanner: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

    Malicious software removal tool: http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/malware-removal.aspx

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

  • APSB15-27 will install automatically if flash is set to automatic update?  How do you determine if it's installed?

Will be APSB15-27 will install automatically if flash is set to automatic update?  How do you determine if it's installed?

    Hello

Yes, if the Flash is set to the automatic update, then the system automatically update to the latest version, 19.0.0.226.  There are several ways to determine if the system is updated:

    Windows:

    • Check the version number in the files saved to:

      • C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash
      • C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash
    • In the registry:
      • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayer > CurrentVersion

        • But if you have more than one browser, you can check the version of each type of player:

          • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayerActiveX > Version
          • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayerPepper > Version
          • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayerPluginReleaseType > Version
      • If you have the 64-bit operating system, you will want to check the Wow6432Node corresponding node as well (although the installed version should be the same for both 32-bit versions and 64-bit)

    OS X:

    • NPAPI plugin: / Library/Internet Plug-Ins/Flash Player.plugin/Contents/Info.plist > CFBundleVersion
    • PPAPI plugin: / Library/Internet Plug-Ins/PepperFlashPlayer/PepperFlashPlayer.plugin/Contents/Info.plist > CFBundleVersion

set to automatic update was held this morning and now Player opens and closes and then after 5 seconds. How can I fix it

A few things you could try...

    • Using Windows Explorer navigate to C:\Program Files (x 86) \Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader, and then double-click Eula.exe and accept the license agreement
    • You can open Adobe Reader by itself?  If so, try to disable the Protected Mode [Edit |] Preferences | (Improved) security].
    • If Reader opens in itself, try to disable the Safe_mode in the registry; Download, unzip, then run the attached registry script
    • It might even be a malware problem; See http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/reader-core-dll-error.html

    Hello

For centuries now, I got a legend when I start my saying Satelliete A30 - 714 automatic updates are not under tension.

I try and then turn them on in Windows Security Center, but he says that I can not change setting so try to do this in the Panel. I put the automatic updates and the time and nothing happens at the set time. If I then select updates directly, I'm getting on the Microsoft site and after checking what version of Windows I have (which is XP), I get the following error message:

If this does not work, try this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100.

  • Set to automatic update taking too long

I just bought a new gateway computer that has Microsoft 7 Home Premium yesterday. Last night, he had 12 automatic updates which was fine. Today, he says have 26 and was killed on 15 for 9 hours. It seems that there is a problem, but I'm not sure what to do as he says don't not to turn it off. What is going on? I've never had this problem with any of my other computers I've had.

When you do the initial update of a new facility, it often takes more than a tour through windows update to get all the fixes.

Of course, it's stuck on one.

    • Out of the update, worst case, simply turn off the unit.
    • Restart,
    • go to Windows Update,
    • find the update history.
    • Find the last update failed.
    • Double-click it to see the details. Bad to shoot the problem, there are often links to possible solutions
    • repetition of windows update scan. This limits the number of updates that you apply. Start with just one failed,
    • Once you have passed a casusing worth, take a small subset of those available to the general public
    • Let repeateing until you can do a couple of update scans and finds nothing
    • After getting updates all enforce a copy backup of the complete picture of your computer so that you have a known good point to restore that would not force all these fixes again.

  • Set to automatic update ran CHKDSK and my computer will not connect

Is there an automatic update on demand. When I turned on my computer, it ran a CHKDSK. I saw that he has deleted a file named $I381. When he started to update and got to step 3 of 3, he keeps trying to update. It restarts automatically and goes back to step 3 of 3 screen continuously. I tried closing down and turning them back, but not luck. Me should not be in a journal or anything. It just keeps trying to complete step 3 of 3.  Does anyone have an idea of what past? And how to fix it?

See if this sugesstion can help you:- http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949358>

  • automatic updates has encountered a problem and needs to close.

last week after a failed installation of avg 9 (incomplete) the computer has worked well. two days after that it gave me an error that Windows could not start due to a "hard or software change. as well as some speak of him cut for unknown reasons (which means that I hit the off button) because safe mode would not even run (I'd get a list of processes to the bottom of the list and they would arrest) we had to get the computer fixed.

She came back and I turn it on and this alert appears that the "automatic updates" contains an error and must close. When I hit send, it returns minutes later. If I hit send, is the same thing.
What happened and what this guy are doing on my computer? Was this service pack 3? I can't copy paste the journal because it is an XML file and there will be the tags of XML in it.

    This is the error code
    AppName: wuauclt.exe AppVer: 5.4.3790.5512 ModName: wuauclt.exe
    ModVer: 5.4.3790.5512 Offset: 00014154

By various people, I thought it is very bad

When there was the problem of norton (would not go beyond the home screen where you can choose users) and he is home, I do not have this new error.

If you're very lucky, what follows will focus on your problems. If not, you have to find a better 'computer man,' who knows what he did (not the Geek Squad or others), or pay for a new computer.

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. double-click on the file that you saved in #1 above to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    4. use the FixIt (aggressive mode) on this page to reset the Windows Update components: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

    5 download/install Microsoft Security Essentials (application free anti-virus & AntiSpyware) & reboot: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/default.aspx

Note: Install Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) instead of AVG, at least for now, please. MSE updates through Windows Update, so it's going to be a very good way to see if the Windows Update/automatic updates works now.

Because of the means it was a used computer / opportunity when you bought it? If so, you format the hard drive & reinstall Windows as soon as you have bought (or do you have someone do it for you before you bought it)?

  • Set to automatic update turns off its own.

I keep trying to download and install updates on my system. but I still have to go restart my updates of grubbing-up. whenever I go to the site and try to force updates, I have this problem, I also noticed today that it shows they are downloaded but not installed them. What can I do to solve this problem in order to install these downloads and keep my automatic updates works fine. Thanks in advance.

    Khadyz,
If you still experience this issue, then here are a few things to start with.

Make sure that your system is not infected with virus\malware.  This thread has lots of information about dealing with that: get rid of the malware.

Perform a clean boot , and then run the updates.

You may also want to reset Windows Update components and see if that corrects the problem.

  • What happened to my system, the automatic updates has been interrupted.

It was September 28, 2009. I was surfing the net and 24 updates automatic updates downloaded - I think - and updated my genuine Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium OS when my connection and I was disconnected. The update, then stopped to 68% or something... After that, I turned off my laptop. While I stop, the updates INSTALLED themselves so I just let it happen. Then after that I turned on my laptop again. But instead to display the log on screen, it showed a dialogue (with the same background as the log on screen) who says:

    «Configuring updates: step 1 of 3 XX % (2/3, 3/3)»
Please don't turn off your computer.

. on the third phase (3 of 3) he has just reached 92% then showed another dialogue box "Shutting Down". After that it just rebooted and the process goes on again and again. Now I can't connect to my laptop. What can I do?
I do not reformat... Help, please... the recovery is safe?

I have a MSI X 310 for computer pc laptop. with integrated Windows Vista operating system.

    Hi Joel,

Thanks for posting on the Community Forums of Microsoft Vista.

Try to start the computer in safe mode and check if installation is complete. To start in SafeMode to restart the computer and keep pressing the F8 key. Once you see the safe mode option select it and press ENTER.

Once you're in safe mode, you try to restore system to a previous date when the computer was working fine.

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    2. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.

    3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

    4. click on finish.

The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

Access the link below for more information about the system restore.
