Setting in the BIOS to T520 virtualization technology?

Have a user with a new T520, and we want to turn on the Intel virtualization technology to improve the performance of Microsoft Virtual PC running a VM XP.  The user and I were talking on the phone and she said in the list of BIOS cpu settings, there is no entry for Intel virtualization technology.  Where can we find the setting to enable VT - x on the T520 feature in the BIOS?  I can't find any online document that shows the BIOS for the T520 screens.

Thank you

Any Satellite Pro A300 has BIOS option to enable or disable the Intel virtualization technology?
It is mentioned on this page: http://www.toshiba-europe.com/easyguard2008/EN/manageability.aspx

I have A300-01:00 (regular Satellite, not Pro), but its T5850 has not VT is supported, so there is no option in the BIOS. Wonder what is the difference between Satellite and Satellite Pro BIOS and can I try to use Satellite Pro A300 BIOS for my A300-01:00. Of course, I'm afraid I can't :(

    Thank you, Andy

    Hello Andy

As far as I know the BIOS is not a universal startup program and is suitable for specific hardware architecture. Because of this Toshiba doesn t offer a BIOS for several models of laptops.

If your laptop doesn't have virtualization option then there is nothing to do. Updating the BIOS will not help any.

Have you checked all BIOS options? I mean, why ask you? Use the F2 key to enter the BIOS settings and check all the options available on the Advanced tab.

For example: my Satellite A300-1LI has Intel Virtualization Technology option.

  • PROTECTED M100 does not start on an internal CD, even though it is set in the BIOS

Well, I have a Toshiba protégé m100 here I think.

I set the boot priority in the BIOS such as CD-ROM > LAN > FDD > HDD

I restart, does not work. Starts directly in HD and loads the operating system.

I also tried pressing ESC or else bring up the start menu pop up.
I'm sailing on the 1 that looks like a single disk CD. I hit enter on that, and it always starts in HD.

The CD rom works. The current operating system is Ubuntu. I can go into Ubuntu and watch the windows XP CD...

But it won't let boot me from any cd, it doesn't even look like she is trying to find one. Does not sound or rattling noise.

(and for the record, I'll since Ubuntu XP to work, non-identifying preferably lol).

Edit: Oh yes, I had to disable the LAN network card in the bios because the boot priority would ignore the cd again in any case and find the lan connection or something... So with him off, Yes, it jumps to the LAN too now, to boot from HD.

In my opinion in the BIOS, set HDD as first boot device.

For some reason if you need to use the other device as first boot device you can choose it manually in the start menu when you use F12 at startup.

  • SSD in a HP ENVY DV7 7332ea and DIANE setting in the Bios?

    Hello

I have a HP DV7 7332ea want. I recently put a San Disk Extreme 2 120 GB SSD as drive and put the HARD drive in the Bay secondary. I installed Win 8.1 clean and everything works well. I then worked my through the various settings required in the operating system for one SSD maximize its usefulness as travel page file on the HARD drive, deleting hibernation, switching to restore in Control Panel and the last was to change registry settings to activate the DIANE and select it in the bios. However, the "F2" for this model Envy Bios has no option for IDE or DIANE. What this means and am I actually losing any ability to form my SSD if DIANE is not enabled?

Thoughts, General information or suggestions welcome

    Hello:

The contoller drive in your model can be set to RAID and that cannot be changed.

You can check that the speed control is set to RAID if you go to Device Manager and see a category of storage controllers.

Click to expand this category and you will see a controller RAID SATA Intel that are listed there.

As long as you have installed the driver Intel RST that you'll TRIM full support for your SSD in RAID mode and you should ignore all the warnings on the drive doesn't work is not in AHCI mode.

Take a look at this thread for more info...

  • set up the BIOS password

I have a p7-1240 and you want to reinstall Windows 7. "When you get into the bios, he keeps asking a ' set password 'when try to do something. Cannot change the order of boot without it.

Does anyone know this password? Several solutions have been applied to this problem... call to HP... using the CMOS switch... and pulling the battery... all these actions did not

If anyone has the password or a viable alternative, it would be greatly appreciated. Know that I am the sole owner of this machine and I never put a password on my bios.

    What the devil?

Thanks for all the help with this particular number Cheryl.

    The Solution:

Please note that the password switch is in the lower right corner of the Board of Directors very close to all of the SATA connectors and it's well hidden.  The CMOS switch is more located in the room near the battery and pretty easy to find.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03343058

I made three different operations all very similar, but something seems to do the trick.

First of all, I followed the manufacturer's instructions to clear the bios password.  Then I repeated the procedure with the machine plugged but POWERED down.  (Be careful here) Someone had mentioned the need for a residual current clear the password, and because the case was open I tried anyway. During this procedure, I managed to drop the small plastic connector and I was unable to recover after 20 minutes that my case has access by only one side.  The switch clear Bios should be left open.  That is to say, he didn't have plastic connector on any of the 3 pins.

I've run procedures one after another to clear the bios password without having to restart the machine...

I'm not sure what actually deleted the password, but I now have full access to the bios.

I hope that everyone in the same situation as this information will be useful.

Thanks again for all the help

  • Select the security setting in the Bios Menu

    Hello

    I have a 4545 s Hp's Probook

all the security in Bios setting options are disable and I don't change them

How should enable security options in the bios menu

    Hello senogteh...

Your screenshot, it seems that your system can have an administrator BIOS set password.   If the Medhi account is not an administrator of BIOS, I think these options would be grayed out.  You can refer to Chapter 9 of the

HP laptop user Guide for more information on the security settings of the BIOS.

Please note that if you are the administrator / owner of the system and forgot the BIOS administrator password and you have created a HP SpareKey, that allows you to reset the password.  If you do not have an HP SpareKey, you should contact HP support for your country / region and they will help you reset the password.

    I hope this helps!

  • Portege R200 cannot set on the BIOS boot sequence

    Hi all.

Our R200 entered mode of hibernation after that the battery power is low, then by some unfortunate twist of fate, the battery got deleted accidentally. Now it does not start correctly because every time it displays a BSOD stating Unmountable_Boot_Volume.

I could solve this problem easily by disabling the hiberfil.sys file, which is the reason for the BSOD, if only I could change the boot order. Unfortunately, enter the BIOS, I am only able to access the first page where the only editable elements are time, date, and passwords. Pressing Pageup and Pagedn does nothing. The BIOS is updated to the last appearing on this site.

Pressing F12 or F2 when the toshiba logo and icons appear does nothing no more. It's a HARD disk 1.8 "and there are no adapters available in our region. I can boot from a CD if and only if I take the HD. But then, it is useless since I can't fix it like that. It is not recognized if I it reconnect after booting. When I reboot, it does the BSOD thing again. It is becoming a frustrating cycle.

I scoured these forums for other ways to boot from the CD and apply the suggestions, like hitting 'c', nothing helps.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Latency of PE T320 Hyper-V hosts that are set by the BIOS update to the host

Twice now, I got the prompt Exchange 2010 on my W2K8 Standard Server with Hyper-V suddenly suffer a massive amount of latency and become virtually locked out of the blue.  After hours of troubleshooting, restart and research - as a last-ditch effort I noticed that the BIOS is outdated.  I update of the BIOS and then as magically everything works again.

Anywhere from 2 to 4 months to go and rinse & repeat.

I'm going out on a limb here, but I suspect that there is something about the system that gets flushed out during an update of the bios that is the cause of the problem, but I am at a loss to determine what is.  I want to avoid proactively with the server my client Exchange fail, but it goes against my better judgment to apply updates BIOS proactively.  We had the motherboard already toggled because of a bad DRAC, and the problem continues to be.

I could use help to identify what I can do to prevent this from happening in the future.  TIA

Well we have not seen the question back at all since we changed the system of "Performance per Watt" profile to 'Performance '.  I would start there first.  It is three months and none of our T320 do more.  We are sure, it's the 90 percent solution.

  • No option of virtualization in the BIOS with the Portege R500

    Hello

Thought I'd post a new thread as the old man seems to be dead...

I just want to know if someone has been able to use an extensions of virtualization Portege R500 processor, Linux, Windows or any other OS. I guess that this will become a requirement of mainstream with windows 7 now out.

If you have been able to use it, could you please put your laptop model correct (it should be on a sticker on the bottom)

This was my original post, showing that the CPU must support her:

I HAV a Portege R500 (or a model equivalent, bought the Japan), v BIOS 1.60 and everytime I try to use applications that supports virtualization extensions, I can't. I use linux as my OS, and he tells me that the virtualization extensions have been disabled by the BIOS.

However, I can't find an option for this in the BIOS! R500 manual (form available from the toshiba support area), there should be an option, just after "core multi processing", I can see:

    Virtualization technology
Sets of virtualization technologies enable or disable the Intel Virtualization
    Technology installed in the processor.
Virtualization technology Intel is the technique that allows a machine to
operated under the name of multiple virtual machines.
Virtualization technology is compatible with some models.
The disabled command does not use the Intel Virtualization
    Technology.
The use of Intel Virtualization Technology Enabled command.
    Virtualization technology allows.
    Activated
    Disables (default) virtualization technology.
    People with disabilities

    But it isn't here!

In addition, I see that virtualization is supported by the processor - the 'vmx' flag is present. The processor is model U7600, it should be supported. You can see from the Intel Web site:

    http://processorfinder.Intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLV3W

Anyone know if it is available through he windows BIOS app (although it is not documented in the manual)? Anyone know if it is possible to contact Toshiba and ask them?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

Are you sure there is NO virtualization option in the BIOS?
Have you checked all the pages?

I found your other thread on the clearing of password and you said this doesn t work, but maybe it works you need to check the VT option yet!

More as you say, the processor must support the VT to VT option in the BIOS the Intel Core 2 Duo processor ULV U7600 support VT

As far as I know there are also a few sets of cell phones where the VT option is not available in the BIOS, but if the processor takes in charge the VT VT is enabled by default as well as the VT option is not present in the BIOS.

  • How to configure the BIOS on my computer HP PAvillion of hardware virtualization

It is a 64-bit computer professional windos 7. I would like to configure the BIOS for virtualization of hardware but cannot find the options to do so. Thank you

Hello, thank you. I was able to find out how to turn on hardware virtualization for my computer.

    I have a desktop HP Pavilion HPE h9 - 1210t Phoenix PC

I found the option to enable Virtualization Technology VTx / VTd under the security settings in the Bios.

While booting, press ESC, then select F10 to go to settings... scroll down until u get to the Security tab and then scroll down to the security of the system menu item. Click on it and it's a simple enable or disable for Virtualization Technology VTx / VTd

I hope that this help anyone else confused on where to find this option on their similar model HP computer.

  • Thermal regime controlling the setting not retained in the Bios on Satellite P100-160

I can solve the thermal Mode command to 'silent' in the Bios, the laptop, then continues to initialize.

When I reached the Office I can do a restart, look in the Bios again and the thermal control handed to the 'performance '. (And Yes, I do save my changes to the bios by pressing F10 - if I immediately return in the Bios before booting the laptop, the value of 'silent' is still there - so it must be all by initializing it resets the control thermal mode for 'performance').

Any ideas anyone? This leads me into the wall, because when the thermal control of Mode setting of "silent" 'takes' it makes the laptop run much more quiet (but then it becomes noisy after a certain time and of course when I check the thermal mode setting in the bios has changed in 'performance'... grrr).

There must be something wrong with the Bios and likely Toshiba needs to release a Bios Update, or stop any process modifies the bios during normal operation of the PC

    Hello

I think that there is not much to do.
I guess that it of because of Vista. Maybe it s active automatically for the performance necessary to run the Vista or better.
Let's hope for a later Vista hotfix or the update of the BIOS that could help sort this strange behavior.
