Setting up SSH on a 3845 router?

Hello everyone!

Just curious, how you set up SSH on a router cisco 3845? Specifically, how to generate RSA keys?

It seems to be missing the subcommand "generate" to crypto. When I type the encryption key the only sub-commands are lock and unlock. I am familiar with this and do not want to disturb too much as it is a production company.

I'm under c3845-spservicesk9 - mz.124 - 11.T2.bin so I should have the possibility, Yes? Any guidance would be appreciated. I really prefer is not to use telnet.

you have k9 image, it should support crypto commands, are you sure you were in the configuration mode?

try again.., here is a link to configure ssh in IOS.

http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/Tech/tk583/tk617/technologies_tech_note09186a00800949e2.shtml

way to do this is to open telnet sessions to the router, in one sitting, be in the activation mode and the leash the open session. On the other telnet session works with the SSH configuration application. When you are done does not save the config, leave the session and open a new session using ssh to ensure that you can connect and the connection to the router via ssh... If for any reason fails, you still have the other open telnet session to cancel the ssh change or correct them.

also to ensure that telnet sessions do not timeout so that work with configs allow you more time by entering exec-time 60<-- one="" hour="" for="" your="" vty="">

line vty 0 4

exec-timeout 60

You can also do full ssh implementation via the console port as well.

I notice that there is a card encryption on the interface (I have would have supposed of your previous comment that you access the router via VPN) and I wonder if it is possible that SSH entering your remote address is considered to be entering the card encryption VPN traffic. Could you try the external address of some other address source SSH and see if that changes things?

Or can you provide details on what is in the card encryption - and perhaps think about putting something in the map encryption that would exclude SSH to the external interface.

  • How can I set up the AEBS as a router with sky Hub as a modem?

I have sky broadband with a Hub of Sky SR102-Z router. I had the problems of slow speed, and the tour engineer told me that it is caused by the interference of a wi - fi connection. I have an Airport Extreme Base Station that I stopped using when I got sky, but I now use it as a router (the Hub of sky is quite limited) connected to the Sky as the Modem concentrator. I would be grateful for any advice on how to set up the AEBS so that it fills the air Hub. Thank you.

I would be grateful for any advice on how to set up the AEBS so that it fills the sky Hub

If you want to use as a router AirPort Extreme... it would mean that hub Heaven must be reconfigured to act as a modem mode simple bridge.

Whether or not it's possible and even if it is possible... Whether or not the sky will support this type of installation are questions for heaven. So, you will need get clarification from heaven on this topic before you can proceed with the configuration of the AirPort Extreme.

You can keep in mind that the hubs of some suppliers cannot be reconfigured to make the function of the device as a modem mode simple bridge. If which is the case with the sky... then you will need to set up the AirPort Extreme in Bridge Mode and continue to let the Sky router as the network router, same function if the wireless may not be enabled on the hub of the sky.

    Hi Devar,

When you configure a new Wifi router immediately, you can connect to the radio

you have to go on the wireless router and you also need an ethernet cable to connect the router to your pc wirelessly

normally all routers come with an installation cd. But if it does not

Open your web browser and type the ip address of the default gateway

The IP address of the Linksys routers is 192.168.1.1

from there, you can set the security features and everything and after that you have set up passwords and everything please connect your modem to the wireless router so that you can access the internet

to manage your network wirelessly with the windows wireless client, please activate your Automatic Configuration WZC wireless

follow these steps to activate the automatic Wireless Configuration

Start menu - click on RUN

type in SERVICES. Scroll down the list until you see SMC Wireless Auto Configuration

Double-click and should be in service type: automatic

and also, click Start to start the service.

    Hope that helps

  • When you set the IP address of the router, WRT160N Inaccessible

    Hello

I bought a WRT160N router yesterday and eagerly tried to connect my laptop to the internet (ADSL) modem using this router. As my ADSL modem is a router DHCP too, and I want to keep it like that, I have it plugged in ethernet cable form one of my ADSL modem/router, LAN ports in one of the LAN ports on the modem, Linksys have the Linksys operating as a bridge. However when I tried to specify an address of router static IP (192.168.1.254) in the basic parameters of configuration Linksys Panel, disabled the DHCP setting and saved, I could not connect to the router more using this new IP address - my browser tells me that the Web page doesn't seem to exist, but it cannot establish a connection with her. Then I have to reset the router in order to access configuration panels using the default address 192.168.1.1. Is there a reason why I cannot access the control panels of the router with the new IP address of the router that I've specified?

    Thanks for any help,

    Hello

the problem is resolved, be it in a different way. I tried your trick to wait 30 seconds after the registration and the recycling of the modem, but this had no effect. What helped does not change the settings for address IP Routerl and the setting from the DHCP server on the router for the disabled at the same time. If I only changed the setting to the IP address of the router and recorded, the modem has been reset automatically and starts with the new correct router address. After that I changed the setting of DHCP server to the WRTN160 to off and then I was able to get the router working, like I wanted.

I assume that when you connect the router to a computer reset (after taking out the IP address of the computer) with DHCP from the active router, the router assigns an IP address to the computer that somehow interferes with the local IP address parameter, if you define that at the same time.

In any case, all work now, and I have excellent signal everywhere in the House. I guess that congratulations go to me :-) but still thanks to eliminate one possible cause of the problem

    Kind regards

    Gerard

  • Set up a wireless network without router

When you configure a wireless network without router, how many computers can I connet to this network?  Is there a limit?

Wow, I'm sorry.  I must have had a brain freeze when I read your post.  * From http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/20446-43-wireless-networking-general

What is the maximum number of wireless clients that can be networked using the Ad-Hoc mode, i.e. without an access point?

The theoretical limit, which is the same as in Ethernet, is determined by the 48-bit MAC address field in each frame of wireless data. The practical limit is determined by the constraints that can be integrated to client drivers. As a general rule, Ad-Hoc networks with 16 to 32 stations should be possible.

Not sure it's possible with sshd.

But you can do with bash.

Place just an environment variable (in rc.local or profile):

    Export TMOUT = 900

  • Problems setting up router WRT1900ac and fiber

I feel that my question is so obscure that I won't be able to get a lot of help here, but I'll post anyway.

First of all, I live in the Philippines. My ISP is PLDT. I have FTTH - fiber to the home. My internet connection is DHCP - no login or password. I thought that perhaps they checked the serial number on the modem to see if I was an authorized user but apparently not; They told me if I wanted to buy another optical modem, I could and that I wouldn't need to do anything to save it on the network, but that they could not provide me with a list of modems that would work.

They delivered to me with a router/modem made by a company called FiberHome. "Like the big business of high-tech directly affiliated to belonging to the active state of oversight and Board of Directors of the Council of State, FiberHome Technologies is the company of the kernel located in Wuhan Optics Valley of China."

The model number is AN5506-04-FG. There are very few configurable on this. Can I change my wifi network name (they insist that the name of the network begins with PLDTHOMEFIBR, no idea why) and a few passwords here and there. For the most part, I just post status on the LAN and WAN.

Therefore, because it is so little that I can do with it that I decided that I needed a router/gateway and not simply an Extender. I bought the WRT1900ac.

Brought it home, that he repaired, it connected via ethernet cable between a LAN port on the FiberHome on the Internet on the Linksys port.  I then used the WiFi on my iPad to try on the Linksys Setup, try with Safari and Chrome.

Went to put in place and smart control of Linksys could not understand my internet connection, despite several reboots, power off and cable disconnected, etc.

So I went to the manual configuration. I put the connection to a static IP address. Following the minimal instructions in the booklet of FiberHome, I put the IP address of the router to 192.168.1.28; the subnet mask of 255.255.255.0; This gateway 192.168.1.1 (internal IP of the fiber to the home, address) DNS of Google DNS.

This would actually work - but only for a few minutes at a time. Then the network diagram would show that I was always connected to the FiberHome but no connection to Internet in addition. (Although my PC, connected to the FiberHome via a LAN cable, still had access to the internet.)

I used the live chat Linksys to ask an agent to this topic. She said that my gateway setting is correct. She had me reset the router and try again, but he could not yet know the connection to the internet on its own. She had me download the iOS app and try there, but same result. So I received a ticket number and ended the chat session.

Now, I tried to set the internet connection on the router at the bridge. But once I did, I was unable to connect to the router via WiFi. I needed to do a reset to be able to access it again.

At this point I called my ISP. They told me that if I wanted to add another router like that, they would need to reset my router/modem FiberHome bridged mode. But they are unable to do it remotely and cannot (or don't want to) give me instructions on how to do it myself.  They need to send a technician to my home. They could not tell me when. I have to wait for a call. (I got a ticket number).

This means that for now, I have a blue and black, sitting bins there, I can't do anything with.

So I'm waiting, I thought I'd post this in the hope that someone might have some ideas configuration I could try or for the general amusement of peoples.

    Thank you!

You may have a conflict between the two routers in IP subnet. In this case the WRT1900AC will change it's default subnet to 10.x.x.x instead of 192.168.1.1

You can find the new IP address of the router by looking at a customers connect ITI information IP address appears as the default gateway.
