several profile on firefox 37.0.2 (ubuntu 64-bit)

Hello
I've upgraded my firefox to version of the end (36 to 37.0.2) in the previous version I can run 2 profiles at the same time, but after upgrading to 37.0.2, I can not run both profiles at the same time.
When I run "firefox - P-no-remote &" during first time curve 2 in dialbox appear but when I run a profile if I am running the new command (the other profile is currently running) the dialbox is empty!
I use firefox on ubuntu 64 - bit os.

What Firefox Pei "ProfileName" (where profilename is the name of the profile)?

I'm not able to reduplicate this question. But another possible solution is a switching profile add-on as the profilist extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/profilist/?src=api

  • Why firefox makes several profiles

My name is Mike from the Support of YER section.
We have over and over again a user with the same problem.
Our employees have a roaming profile with multiple browsers, but it uses Firefox that causes a problem.

There's a datalimit on our user profiles. The problem is that Firefox uses all the space in the user profile.
This causes an error of storage space, every two days.
To solve it, I open the Firefox profile manager, multiple profiles are visible. So I delete unused profiles. But it is temporary, because in a few days, the user communicates with us with the same problem.
I also tried to move the profile of its documents with the Profile Manager to free up space, also this does not solve the problem because Firefox new profiles over and over again.

This user is the only one with this problem, and we cannot find a solution.
We thought that maybe it has something to do with the synchronization between multiple devices, but it uses the Firefox profile on his work computer.

I hope you can help me solve this problem. Maybe you can explain why Firefox creates several profiles, or maybe we can change the path of the Firefox profile, for all profiles including new ones that are created.

    Thank you!

What is the content of the file profiles.ini?

Sounds that the profile path stored in the file is not recognized.

  • Firefox 10.0 for Ubuntu 10.04 is not restore tabs

Firefox 10.0 for Ubuntu 10.04 with all of the latest updates and security patches don't restore the tabs when restarting, it used to until the last update. What is wrong?

"Warn me when closing multiple tabs" gives you a warning when you close a window (which contains several tabs) by clicking on the 'X' of a window cross button. It does not show this warning when you close Firefox by clicking on Firefox-> Quit/Exit or by simply stopping your system. It's the default behavior in versions of Firefox 4 +.

If you want the old behavior of Firefox 3 to save the tabs before closing Firefox, do the suggestions mentioned by dankyhelpedyou in his first answer in the following thread:

Check and tell if its working.

  • Why is Mozilla informs against several profiles for multiple users?

I think I want to establish a separate profile to Firefox for my children, my wife, and myself but Mozilla Web site advises against using multiple profiles, unless there is a developer. I'm now on Firefox 3.6.3. I had multiple profiles for one year on previous versions of Firefox and it seemed to do what I wanted. Is there a better way to do this? No technical reason not not to use profiles of boards?

You can use the Profile Manager to separate profiles of browsers. Everything works very well.

The warning on the article use the Profile Manager to create and delete profiles of Firefox is probably for several reasons:

    • The Profile Manager can be confusing finding a way access and use
    • It is mainly used as a troubleshooting step and the user interface so that it could go away or change to the future of Firefox version.
    • It is easy for less experienced users to do dangerous things like stuck in a new profile, or accidentally delete the default profile.

But I don't see how using Firefox profiles offer an advantage over Windows user accounts. There is no real password protection, anyone can delete / see / use other profiles, and the user interface is poor.

That being said, many people use profiles to manage different versions of Firefox without problems.

  • How to create a new profile in Firefox 3.6?

I would like to create another profile in firefox to make several stable version however I can't seem to do this in firefox 3.6
Instructions have until this be run "firefox.exe - ProfileManager" or "firefox.exe Pei" in the run window command prompt, but I see in a new browser that opens.

So, I see not where is the folder actually for my profile
C:\Users\MYNAME\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles but I don't know what I'm supposed to do from there

    This has happened

    Each time Firefox opened

The Profile Manager will open if all Firefox processes are closed.
You can check under the processes tab in the task (Ctrl + Shift + ESC) Manager

If you can't make it work then try to add the - No.-switch remote to see if this brings up the Profile Manager.
    Firefox.exe - no-remote Pei
Add a space before - No.-remote and before Pei

There is an add-on called FEBE, and it allows you to export virtually everything that Firefox offers (including modules) as installable files.

So basically, you can take the range of extensions and export them in another Firefox profile.

  • After the upgrade to Firefox 12.0 on Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS, Youtube guest for a plugin installation, but said then there is zero, so what would make Firefox work aga?

After upgrading to Firefox 12.0 on Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS, the viewing of videos, such as Youtube has stopped working. By clicking on the "Install Plugin" offered instead, gives the answer "no appropriate plugin was found." By clicking on the "read more...". Manual plugin install"link collects only the answer"we're sorry, but we are unable to find what you are looking for dedicated", of Mozilla.org.

There is a simple work around this failure to upgrade?
(Or at least some information about the question to know if a plugin for Linux is available somewhere?)

You need Flash to play videos on youtube. See the following articles:

For more information on the Firefox plugins, see this article-> use plugins for playing audio, video, games, etc.

Check and tell if its working.

  • How to synchronize two profiles in firefox, everything except localstore.rdf

Yesterday, I asked about the binding cache between two profiles in firefox:

    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/questions/925836

And I got to thinking. The only reason why I'm even a second profile is to have two 'places saved window' for purposes of multi-monitor. I want that these profiles to be EXACTLY the same except for the location in which they are open (which is registered in localstore.rdf). It occurred to me that with my current setup in the thread above, even if the caches are now linked... I still have to change twice bookmarks. Have two different stories, saved passwords, etc. A minor inconvenience at best, but it would still be nice to avoid.

As I said, I want these identical profiles, except for the locations in which they are open. I know there are extensions for synchronization of profiles, but they all seem to be 1 star performance that hinder the mess. I prefer to do it manually, as I did with the cache. Possible?

Found an answer myself, mklink. I delete the places.sqlite (the file where the bookmarks are saved) my 2nd monitor profile. I then go to CMD and create and MKLINK by running the following:

    MKLINK C:\Path\to\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\monitor2\places.sqlite C:\Path\to\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\default\places.sqlite

This creates a shortcut in my profile monitor2, redirecting to the profile folder of the monitor of my first for the file places.sqlite. TADA, the bookmarks are sync'd and the changes are saved to both directions. I developed this and created mklinks for formhistory.sqlite, cookies.sqlite and permissions.sqlite. Works perfectly and synchronizes both ways, as did places.sqlite.

  • Several profiles to run at the same time

I'm under view Planner 3.0. I've always been running one profile to run at a time. It was my assumption that was the only way to do this, run run profiles in series.

Anyone know if it is possible to have several profiles of race running at the same time and if so the warnings for that Setup.

    Thank you

    Pete

You cannot run multiple profiles running at the same time. Scheduler display harness only supports one profile of running both. If you want to run that many run profiles and virtual desktops are disjoint, you can create multiple instances of harness see Planner and run multiple profiles.
