Several versions of Mozilla Firefox on my system

Hi I run windows XP SP3 and I noticed that I have the Firefox 3.5 & 5.0 as separate instances on my system. Can I safely remove version 3.5? The reason why I ask is probably that your software would have removed/update older versions when you apply updates? Confused, please advise, thanks, Barry

Hi Barry,.

I have deliberately run several versions of Firefox, but tend to be a version only Yes standard facilities and are often updated leading only the installation of a. Probably at one point you did a custom installation.

Pay attention by removing or uninstalling Firefox, it will offer to remove personal settings, or however it is worded, do NOT use this option, because it is likely it will delete all bookmarks and settings for all versions of Firefox.

Another idea is to make these two versions share the same profile , so you see exactly the same bookmarks and history in each version. (They probably not unless you or someone else has deliberately set up a separate profile, but worth the drive before you remove the old version)

So to summarize Yes it is safe to remove the old version, just use the XPs Control Panel uninstall option, but don't forget do not remove your settings.
