She is upgrading or updating Windows 8.1?

Hello

I came to know that it is now a windows 8.1 update. Initially, I tried to install windows 8.1 as upgrade. but after the upgrade and reboot I got a black screen. Then I started Windows 8 and I am currently using Windows 8. Can I update to 8.1 without a problem?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Lili,

It is upgraded to Windows 8.1.

I would try and visit this Microsoft Web site: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/upgrade-assistant-download-online-faq

Here you can download the upgrade wizard tool, which can help you to sort out the upgrade to Windows 8. 1.

I hope this helps you.

Kind regards

Frank

    Hello, I'm Michael.

I'm a guy who lives in Hong Kong, I bought a laptop that comes with Chinese traditional x 64 Windows 7 Home Preium. I want to use this laptop as a computer professional. Because I don't want to use Chinese as my default language in my computer, so I'm going to upgrade my computer I have subscribed the TechNet, so I downloaded an iso file from the Microsoft TechNet Web site. I downloaded an English x 64 to windows 7 Ultimate. I hope it would work, but an error message is skipped during the upgrade. It is said: you can do an upgrade using an installation disc that's different from the language installed on your computer. Go online to see how to install Windows 7 and keep your files and settings.
I tried to press the hyperlink (go online) and it does not at all. I have to ask this question to the Microsoft Answers and see if if anyone can give come me advice because I do not want to click on the custom button because there are some files saved in my computer. So I need answers as soon as possible because I could die without a PC! Thanks for all those who read this and you time.

No direct path to the evolution of the Chinese language to English. But you can upgrade your version of Home Premium to Windows 7 Ultimate (upgrade Express). Ultimate has support for English and a number of other languages.

  • WIndows failed 10 update WIndows 7

A friend had just started a new month for its Internet service, his plan includes 1 G download per month. It has Windows 7 and started the update of Windows 10. She went visit and 3 h later, she returned to find that only 14 per cent had been downloaded with all of his monthly 1 G exhausted. She has downloaded a Windows 10 Cie and want to install on the same PC that could not download Windows 10. She thinks she might have to do a clean install, which would eliminate the Windows 7. She would like to keep Windows 7 in case the update fails again. Is there an autour work without having to do a clean install? In addition, the product key. After a clean install how to insert the product key for Windows 10?

I suggested to make a mirror image of his windows 7 before a clean install. It is if no other options are available. But I thought I read on a forum that there was a way to keep the product and then key download WIndows 10. The new windows would find the key and keep the old version of Windows (7 in this case) automatically. Which is what Windows 10 is designed to do. If possible I would be grateful someone to share this knowledge with me.

As far as I could understand.

If the copy of windows 10 has already been downloaded, use the upgrade Inplace upgrade method. As the PC is Windows 7, extract ISO first:

    http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2267-Windows-10-upgrade-installation.html#STEP7

Follow step 7, and then move to 9,

This would allow you to go back to windows 7 within 30 days, and asks for a key also.

If you make a system image, nothing is better than that. It can be used to restore windows 7 when you want. Returning sometimes does not.

You can always do a clean install and use the Windows product key 7 also.

  • Satellite P10-304 - update Windows 7 problem

I have a Satellite P10 304 to 2003 which has Windows XP, but I need to update for obvious reasons. I bought a copy of Windows 7 (32 bit) and installed without any installation problem, however I can't update Windows.

I reinstalled, deleted the hard drive and reinstalled again. Tried the stop and start the Windows Update utility.
    Downloaded the stand-alone Windows Update.

Updated the BIOS to V2.0 and downloaded the Toshiba Service Station application (who says no update is necessary).
    All this without success.

My hopes were raised when I saw that the Station Service for Windows 7 32 bit software was available for the P10 304 but I am now at a loss.

Anyone know if this laptop can be upgraded to Windows 7 and how to get updates of work?

    Help is welcome.

I'm sure that installation of Windows 7 update problems are not specific to Toshiba problems even if you use the Toshiba laptop.

From my point of few, you should check the Microsoft support pages to find the solution.

    Thank ' s!

    Hello!
Thanks for posting in the HP support forum!

8.1 Microsoft Windows (although very good and big update ) is still in BETA (testing) phase and is not officially supported.

Windows has features upgrade analysis and that it has detected that HP ProtectTools are not (yet) compatible with the new operating system (new update) - still in test.

Note that this OS is still in beta and may contain bugs. In addition, he brings a few changes that any other 3rd party suppliers must take into account and it will take a while until the program is compatible.

I recommend - if you want to test the new operating system, install fresh on another computer to test (processing Edition), not a production machine. Otherwise, for your laptops of business - use only the final versions of the software (such as Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8).

Let me know if I can help you further!

  • Pavilion P6-2330: Impossible to upgrade successfully from Windows 8 to 8.1

The courses is visible and sensitive, in part, but nothing is operational.

The screen flashes could be a monitor driver problem that I also checked and nothing was. I simply can not properly finalize the upgrade! This is the first time in my life with Windows (since it first came out) that I can't magage to install an upgrade.

    Whatam I have lack?

    Thank you

Software deals with mysterious way: I finally managed to get the Windows operational 8.1 upgrade. the process was complex, multi-tasking and boring and goes more or less like this:

    1. first of all, make sure that your Windows 8.0 has all the updates that are available. Then, go to the command prompt and run the SFC \SCANNOW utility. You can find corrupted files and secure them.

    2. then install the upgrade for Windows. It will certainly install and appear to the system, but it will not respond and will present a flashing screen. Do not despair!

    3. restart the PC and hold the F11 key, until you get a blue screen with a list of languages. Choose one (probably English) and go to the page with the REFRESH and RESET the buttons of your software. Hit refresh. If it doesn't, try the RESET button. In my case, it offered to re - install - surprise, surprise - 8.1 of Windows, and it worked!

    4. After installing Windows 8.1 running an UPDATE OF FILES of WINDOWS before doing any other thing on your PC.

It took me more than 2 1/2 weeks and several reinstl = all 8.0 Windows until I understood.

Thank you for your kind assistance, Mr. Nuccii!

    Have a great week!

  • Update Windows 7 windows constantly "check updates".

Windows Update won't step since the 'check updates'. I let it run all night and in the morning it was still there check the updates. I have Windows 7 Home Premium. The only installed updates came after I installed Windows 7 in 11/10. I used MS Security Essentials, but could not be updated also, so I uninstalled. I am updating windows, but can 't seem to achieve. Any ideas?

Not one of these updates, you reference are in my list of installed updates. The latest updates in the list come from 14/11/10. At this point, I am trying to get the update of windows to use until I have reinstall MSE or buy another anti-virus program. I think maybe that NOD 32.

Suggest that you try to reset the Windows Update components. Go here - How to reset the Windows Update components
Download and Save the Fixit from this page.

The Fixit times execution completed, restart unless she asks you.
Check if the system can be updated now.

  • Error code 80070005 when trying to update Windows using Windows 7 Home Premium

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium, upgrade from Vista on a Sony Vaio VGN-FW350D. The upgrade was promotional as part of the purchase of the laptop in the Canada.

I had no other pressing issues which have not been resolved. IHAVE run the built-in Windows based Registry Cleaner (like a cleaner 'free') and the dreagmenter of disk as part of the troubleshooting process.

I have tried everything I can find on the setting of the following problem:

When trying to update Windows (ie. Download updates of security or Microsoft security patches, etc.), the following is displayed: "Windows could not search for new updates - an error occurred when searching for new updates for your...» Code 80070005. It gives you the 'Try Again' button, but who does not work either.

Also, after running in a Fixit 'Microsoft' by default and aggressive modes, change my registration to God knows what state by applying other methods proposed CIHI, now when I try an update of Windows, the "last check for updates '"and updates have been installed"the both indicate '' never. '' BTW, I have the restore points before you make these changes, so no worries there.

I would like to point out that, as far as I know, this problem has persisted since January 1, 2011, when I downloaded and installed Microsoft Security Essentials, which would not update or another. Before installing MS Security Essentials, I ran Avast, I have re-installed after removing Ms Sec Ess.

In short, Windows update does not work, giving Code 80070005. Can anyone help solve this problem with me? Thank you...

    Ralph

    Hello

Error code 80070005 means generally that you're not quite allowed to install updates.

If the problem persists, follow the steps mentioned below and the Coachman.

    Step 1:

All first please confirm that you have logged on to an account with administrative privileges.

To connect to the administrator account

    a. Click Start, right click on computer, then click on manage.

    b. expand local users and groups, and then click the users folder.

    c. right-click on the connection of the administrator, and then click Properties, and then remove that checking the account is disabled.

Now, restart the computer and log on to the administrator account and try to update again.

    Step 2:

You could disable your anti-virue and malware/spyware protection temporarily to see if they are contradictory with the update.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/turn-Windows-Firewall-on-or-off

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats.  In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Step 3:

Uninstall Security avast software, install the update day, then reinstall Avast.
