  I have a lot of shortcuts I need readily available and it is very annoying when they disappear without my wanting to do.  I spent hours looking for an answer and I can't change the setting on the maintenance of the system 'clean up unused and shortcuts files' - but some missing I have used very recently - in the last week - so no reason for them to be cleaned - I tink im going to send this back stupid computer and get an Apple!

  Sometimes Microsoft Works comes on a machine at the time of purchase.  Note that I saidsometimes...  You should check that everything came preloaded on your new machine.  It looks that your new machine came with it preloaded which explains why you can not open your files.

  As to what was on your old machine... you need the CD, then to read the license agreement for Microsoft Works (it's an OEM version) to see if you can load on your new machine. Sometimes OEM versions are machine-specific and may not be transferred.

  You must also confirm that the version that was on the old machine can be loaded on Windows 7.

  Hi, I hope I'm in the right forum! I have a laptop Aspire with Photoshop CS5 extended. The computer's hard drive crashed and so I had to get another hard drive! Obviously as the hard drive crashed, I was unable to disable CS5 extended before the crash. I have it charging on the new hard drive and in the meantime bought a desktop computer in which I loaded CS5. Updates have been working fine on the laptop. I tried to update the program on the new computer, but continue to receive error messages. I have read in any problems and think maybe computer laptop harddrive that crashed had CS5 yet on it, as I was unable to turn it off because I didn't know he was going to crash. I am only able to load CS5 on 2 computers and if it is still on the destroyed hard drive so I'm not able to turn it off and so I presume that is why I can not download the updates on my new computer. InDesign, Illustrator, bridge, and Acrobat will open it (and good work to the best of my knowledge). However, Photoshop gives me an error message and does not open:

  In the near future, I want to upgrade CS5 to CS6. But for now, I wish I could use Photoshop I have. I looked in my Plans and products on my Adobe account and the product is. But it's not a download to re-download it. And honestly, I don't remember if I was a physical download or digital download when I initially put the software on my original Mac.

  Any ideas or suggestions on how to fix this?

  PS - also, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash Catalyst, and Flash are all in my Applications folder. But I think they're just there because I did a try before you buy CS5 Adobe. Would this be the case? When I try to open applications, a box will appear asking for a serial number or an option to start using these applications on an experimental basis. I tried to put my purchase of CS5 serial number just in case it was accurate, and he says that's not a correct serial number. And my research indicates that these applications are not part of the standard package CS5. Are they only in my Applications folder because I used them once on a trial period?
