Should I learn flash?

I am in the first year of my degree and don't really have to spend a lot of time studying because I did earlier. We learn the basics of HTML, CSS, Javascript, Flash, Photoshop etc but it is not specific enough to get a decent job.

I want to focus my attention (and money) on one main thing of learning and control it but don't know who to go to. I like using the flash and like all its capabilities but also know how important it might be to perhaps master photoshop and watch type digital art stuff.
Or maybe learn CSS or something like that.

I want to go maybe Web design, but am also interested in many other things. I mean, even if I go Web design, should I learn flash or should I focus my attention on photoshop and HTML?

I'm not really an arty type, I don't want to just be a programmer that I at least want to do some design.

I want to see how easy things are to learn, how fun it would be, it would be useful in a few years and also demand.

Thoughts?

Bravo!

Flash is not to go and getting only more popular every day.

SEO and tracking has come a long way as well. You can expect all the disadvantages of Flash go in the coming years.

And as for all the world have Flash, I think that 99% of people have in some way, form or fashion.

I see a lot of is a website XHTML/CSS with Flash widgets placed strategically for the interactive trim and flashy.

I would certainly learn CSS, so you can cut out a Photoshop doc. It's pretty much ground zero of Web dev.

If you can cut a Photoshop doc in standards compliant XHTML/CSS, then you can find a job and work your way to the top. Although most of the cutting gets outsourced in India and in China, it is know is essential if you want to be a Web Developer.

After that, you can either branch to backend (PHP, MySQL) or development (JavaScript) frontend.

Flash also has a backend (AS3, PHP, MySQL) and the frontend (Flash).

You can also consider Flex, it's about Flash without a timeline, very useful for rapid prototyping and develop interfaces and widgets.

  • Should I learn flash now or wait for the update?

    Hello

Thanks for looking at my question. I just the edge of Adobe and since it seems that adobe is moving more html5 to Flash I need to learn flash. My question is what do you think I should start to learn now or wait until the update is happening? My concern is that I don't want to waste time if the program is supposed to be a lot of changes or the user interface would see significant changes. I'm still new to development and have other things that I could learn in the meantime but still see it as a compelling for my skill set in the future.  I have a pretty good understanding of the edge and I think some will be translated into flash, but I'm not sure.

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Yes, start with Flash now. Everything you learn now will transfer to animate.

But I don't see Scout in the application list. Should I install Flash Pro first? I want just to start using free application of Scout and not to buy or even try other soft!

  • What all should I learn how to achieve these effects?

    Hello

I would like to know what all I would need to learn and what extra plugins, I would need to buy to get these effects (research mainly to text effects and video transitions in)

    I have After effects Cs4.

    http://youtu.be/tIPLTiKAQTo

The reason why I ask this is especially because I'm going to do just this kind of effects and nothing more. So I neednt losing time learning things I'll probably never use.

    Thank you.

You're going to learn more about AE...

Unless there is a specific reason to reduce the size of the plot of the original sequence still working at maximum resolution. IOW, no is resize your 550 d film unless you can come up with a very good reason to do so.

Now lets talk about output for the web. This part can be confusing:

I have all my images for the web in 720 p or what I like to call web HD output. It's a lot wholesale this year and this is the norm for YouTube HD right now and this is my first video server. I made these films with Apple Compressor or Adobe Media Encoder. This means that the original image size is reduced from 1080 to 720 and if the original was interlaced (1080i), I remove interlacing. In some cases, and with some After Effects projects the best solution is to embed the original composition in a mock-up of the 720 p, but I stick with the original 1080 frame size. In some cases, that I stick to the original frame rate, in others I converted. In projects that may require another color correction or additional treatment I always return a 10bits or master of compression without loss of After Effects using the tail to make. If the project is only intended for the web, then, most of the time, I don't make in After Effects at all. I use Adobe Media Encoder. You can import the Premiere Pro or After Effects directly into the SOUL and go directly to the formats highly compressed with a tool that is designed to make this work. In the rare case that a project requires full system resources to render efficiently or that a project is going to require extra special care compress in an MPEG stream, I'll make to the 10bits lossless codec in AE and then compress with a 3rd party compressor as Squeeze.

The only way to know what workflow to use is to understand how works the AE render engine, how compression works, how different codecs effect the quality and usability of the sequence and what will happen to the project in the future. Unfortunately, there no one size fits all solution to the problem.

Now let's talk about the preset animations. Here's what I would call the basics of EI. A preset is something that everyone using AE should know how to use and create. The procedure is very simple. To use it, you select the layer of film and choose apply Animation preset from the menu. Change you press UU with the selected layer to reveal all the expressions and or the preset generates keyframes and you change. To create, you apply effects or animation to a single layer then press UU to reveal all of the properties that have been changed or animation, select all properties in the timeline panel and choose Save preset.

    There you go.

  • HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript - which should you learn first?

Super newbie here. For a while worked in Dreamweaver like start from the beginning. Which of the three is the basis, start by learning Java, HTML or CSS3. Know that each is specialized in various areas, but as a point of departure which should be the first to learn? Thank you...

When you're comfortable with HTML, start immediately on CSS.  JavaScript can come later.

  • Should I installed Flash and Silverlight? They do the same thing?

    Hey Microsoft,

I just wanted to ask if I could just have silverlight installed on the computer, because it's a right flash player? I have Adobe Flash Player, so I'd really like to than a flash drive? Or I would not of silverlight and adobe? Thank you.

original title: I just have installed silverlight?

    Hello

You can have both Adobe Flash player and Silverlight in the computer and there won't be any problems.

I suggest you to install silverlight.

  • Who should I learn first? Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign?

I am a student in advertising to start a class of art direction/portfolio that have no experience of graphics but they recommend we familiarize ourselves with them. I have all the basic principles of Lynda tutorials but I'm not sure as to what software I have to learn first. Thank you.

There is no set itinerary for learning software titles. Depends on the project.

Photoshop is a pixel-based image editor. Illustrator is a basic vector editor. There is overlap between them.

If you make the layout work, you could treat InDesign as the 'hub' or the main application for the layout.

Then use you Illustrator or Photoshop to prepare images for InDesign. Use InDesign for the text of the presentation.

If you do web work then all 3 are able to start to finish workflow.

  • What should I learn how to make a sensitive site?

    Hiya

Have not registered here for a few years.

15 years ago or about, I learned HTML4 (from book of Castro) and manually coded a Web site. I managed to create a CSS page.   Whoopee!
Then I got DW4 and later a update. and that's SWELL.  And there is my level.  I'm not sharp, that I am?

These days, I maintain a site for friends, and they want to upgrade.  Half an hour on Google tells me the term 'sensitive '.  Looks like there's gotta be good w/CSS and HTML5.

First question, is an update of DW, or any other WYSIWYG program that will convert an existing more responsive site, or build a more or less the way DW does the HTML4 those?

Second question, if there is not, what is the list of things I need to learn to reboot myself?  And any suggestion for where and how?  Remember what's my level?

    Thank you

    Denno

Responsive Web Design (RWD) has some limitations.  Honestly, some just Web designers cannot do because they are not ready to give up the old school tables and/or to compromise on their design ideas.  But if approach you the question with an open mind and not try to build what anyone too fancy or restrictive, RWD can be very rewarding.

Consider your mobile users first.  They interact with their devices differently from desktop users.  For example, mobile users have less content and more large, tactile, menu buttons and forms.  There are volumes written about it on the web.  Spend time in the learning of theory, but also the code before you plunge your first project RWD.

  • How to make a flash paper?

Hey, what I'm trying to do is make a kind flash newspaper when a button is clicked on the journal opens and on the log there are several button browse different pages. I understand how to reach the newspaper opens when a button is clicked, but im confused about this script to use to edit pages, etc.

I think I should use Action Script 2 but im nto sure enitrley

    Thanks for the help.

There are many ways, you might get close to this design, and understand some basic concepts of Flash can happen to you.  You could do each page as a new block of content along the timeline, or you could do everyone a movieclip that you control the visibility of the, each page can be a separate Flash file or the pages could be created dynamically using data resources, etc...

Regarding the codification is going, you can use any version of Actionscript to achieve, but if you are not at all familiar with Flash, you would do better to try to learn what is current... AS3...

You should start learning Flash so that you can get what you want.  Visit Lynda.com and try some of the tutorials or sign up for a course at a nearby school.

  • What is the best learn first, Dreamweaver or Flash?

I just got the CS5 Web Premium.  I have to learn several programs.  Who should I learn first, Dreamweaver or Flash?  I would ask this forum because I want to start well thought.

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

They are not closely related, so return a coin.   The two both learning couldn't hurt either.

As far as Dreamweaver goes, it is a tool, which is more useful for people who have a good knowledge of the languages involved in the design of web sites, and is not really to learn to web design if it is your intention.  Design of learning web sites requires learning html, css, javascript, php, etc. and those who really need not learn a simple text editor and the drive to continue.

  • HP Mini 311 - should I flashed my BIOS?

I have a HP Mini 311-1037NR (the product number is VBM262UA #ABA).   My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium.

The question more simply: should I FLASHED my BIOS?

I just started using my HP MINI again after a year of rest.  I did all Windows 7 updates that can be done.  I was even dedicated to device drivers and updated all those requiring updates.

Thanks to Provost User DavidPK, I identified a stack as error being the external battery.  I ordered the following and (Amazon says) it should arrive at my home on or before February 11.  Then, I'll be able to use it without a power cord (yay!).  Looking forward to that.  THANKS, DavidPK!

Now, I'm trying to decide now if I should update or FLASH the BIOS?  It can be risky, I understand.  So, I wonder if it is a gesture that would be the rishk?  I certainly don't want to update something on my machine just to say that I've updated.

    Thoughts?

    Hello

Good to hear the battery is on the right track

What about updating the bios, my personal opinion is that this should be done only if the update fixes a problem you already have, or adds features that you need.  Otherwise, if everything works well, I'd recommend flashing with a new version of the bios.

    Best regards

  • Make a prototype for my class of multimedia learning and back to Captivate. This idea is possible? Or should I use another program?

    Hello!

As mentioned, I'm a bit new to Captivate. I am familiar with its basic functions - I've done a few projects already - but I like to use my homework to help guide my learning through this program.

For my class of multimedia learning, I do a prototype for a team project that is to teach students about specific plants: how the sunlight they need space, of water, as soon as they are completely mature, etc. Using the principle of guided discovery of Mayer (for learning MM), we want to make a game for students, and this is where my work (I'm the girl who is very quick to learn a technique and has already some experience of Captivate to his credit).

We want to do a simulation where a character receives a plant at random his MOM. She should take care of this plant based out of the student / knowledge of the player (students will have studied it that the need for plants and made a request now that knowledge in this game). He will ask questions like, "what is this plant?" based on the image. Then, "when we it put? (in the House, on the edge of the window, in the garden, etc.). "When we should he water? (Daily, weekly, never, etc..). And so on.

I never worked with variables with Captivate and thought this would be a good opportunity to learn. I thought that I could store the responses of the student as a variable and then at the end of the game, count the numbers, and if they have reached a certain threshold, the program will say: "Congratulations!" Your plant survived! "Or... "Oh no!" Your parched plant. You don't water it enough. "Or" Oh no! " Your plant dry too much sun! »

Another thing to keep in mind is that the plant itself will be random, and the player should hopefully get a new plant whenever they play.

    So I was wondering...

    (1) variable will help me with this project? Or am I understand the term "variables" incorrectly as it applies to Captivate? It is possible that they work differently to how I imagine - once again, I've never worked with them before.

    (2) does it be a nightmare to create in Captivate or should I learn how to use another program? (I wouldn't mind another program of learning that I can add to my repertoire of skills)

    (3) any tips for this to work? Of course, I ask you to tell me how to do this project completely.

    (4) you say that an immediate return instead of feedback delay would be perhaps better here? If that were the case, I wouldn't need to use variables at all and instead just add a slide if they got the answer 'false '.

You're talking about how many plants for the random plant? The only way I can imagine is to use a random number generated by JS, and an advanced conditional action which shows the plant based on this number. The random number, or the name of the plant itself could then be used in conditional actions more to ask appropriate questions.

You can create a sequence of questions for each plant and use conditional navigation to send the student to the right sequence. In this case you can use the slides default question, which will be marked and at the end assess you the total score and provide feedback based on this score. This is possible when you enable branch of knowledge, so that only the questions that have been visited by the student will take into account for the quiz score.

It is an idea for an answer to your first question. As I have explained, you don't need really variable (perhaps a random number), but advanced authoring knowledge or share actions.

As a new attempt, the simplest is to restart the course. Maybe I could understand an alternative approach, but not right now.

  • My Adobe id and the password are not accepted when I try to download the update of Flash Player.  What should I do?

I downloaded the Flash Player update and went through all the necessary steps to do so.  When I get to the step that requires my ID and password it rejects my entries and I can't go any further.  I used the same Adobe ID and password that I use for my Adobe account.  I even used my Mac Apple ID and password, but the Adobe log in reject it too.  What should I do?

What userid & password should I install Flash Player?

  • What should I do to avoid 'flash loading' then the incorporation of video to PDF?

I can integrate video h.264 to PDF via acrobat pro or inDesign.

However, there is always a moment of waiting, flashes color background Acrobat

until the film is finally loaded and played back.

I have seen tutorials where this does not occur,

but no predictable difference in what I do.

Any ideas how to avoid this behavior that occurs however I embed the video.

Second problem: when I play the video of mebedded in the size of the presentation

so, he gets stuck in the slide. You have to hit the arrow button several times

until at some point happening in fact to a random slide below the presentation.

My computer is very powerful and I use the most recent CC InDesign and Acrobat XI.

I have read all the help and I do what Adobe said I should do.

Is it possible that Adobe cannot just treat the video to PDF on a professional level?

Tips on how to make this look right is appreciated!

    The best

    Stefan

Whenever a Rich Media Annotation is manipulated, Acrobat/Reader should load the Flash Player extension, unpack the data video/SWF and drop overall. As a 32-bit application that involves a lot of much processor juggling resources is not uncommon to wait one or two seconds. There is a similar pause when the extension is disabled. It depends on what size are the assets, if he executes several at the same time, etc., but there is no way to avoid it.
