  • How to remove the trash on my computer dell laptop latitude who has windows xp?

I am an elderly person not at savvy, computer then pls forgive me for asking what may seem like a stupid question. I need to know how to clear the trash on my laptop. It's a Dell latitude Windows xp. And I thank you all in advance for any help rendered on this!

    There are several possibilities.

If the file is on a network resource or a removable device like a USB key, just delete Deletes without going through the trash.  It sounds like what is happening in your situation (which is your "DVR photo/video plug and play" device?).

Look carefully at the message when you press the delete key - he probably said, "Are you sure that you want to delete 'Filename'?" rather than "Are you sure that you want to send 'filename' in the trash?

    Another, less likely, causes:

If the file is too large, you should get a message saying that the file will not fit in the trash and delete will delete everything without moving to the trash.  I don't think that I've never seen a 'too big' file is to be deleted without the warning message.

What is "too big"?  By default, the Recycle Bin is set at 10% of the size of your disk (partition).  If you go into my computer, you will see different drives displayed.  In general, you will use 'drive Local (c) '.  If you right-click on this icon and select Properties, you will see the used space, free space and capacity.  Your trash for this default player is 10% of the 'capacity' - but with a catch: he will not exceed 3.99 GB no matter how great the drive.

You can see the actual amount of the space allocated to the trash by clicking right on it and then select Properties.  Depending on the number of drives in your computer, you can see several tabs here, including a 'Global' tab and one for each individual unit.

A more even less likely cause:

In addition to size, the Recycle Bin properties tabs also have a box that says "do not move files to the Recycle Bin.  Delete the files when they are deleted immediately.  I doubt that you have this box checked, because then the behavior you describe should occur for all files, not just some of them.

  • Equium L350D - 11 d - I should update the BIOS?

A month ago I bought a "reworked factory" L350D - 11 d and I am pleased with it. I couldn't have guessed that it was not new, and it works perfectly, I would say.

I just got a Toshiba Tempro application to download and install an update of the BIOS - it:
    [THIS HTTP://UK.COMPUTERS.TOSHIBA-EUROPE.COM/INNOVATION/DOWNLOAD_DRIVER_DETAILS.JSP?ID=63134&OSID=-1&OSBUILD=6000&OSBITSIZE=32&DRIVERLANGUAGE=42&SOUR = TEMPRO & LNG = 1]
but I am concerned about a number of things. I should add that I used laptop computers for years but I am not particularly well informed on the technical level.

    1. the faq on updates BIOS says that the laptop must be in mode 'start-up', not 'repeat mode '. I don't know what are these modes, and a few technically competent guys which I asked don't know either. Can someone enlighten me please?

2 that the technically competent guy said was update the BIOS was fraught with peril, and I could end up with an unusable machine. Is this really so? If this is the case, then I don't understand why Toshiba blithely ask customers to do. But as the update doesn't seem to be a solution, but simply provides unspecified 'increased functionality', and I've had my laptop a month and it works perfectly, is there any point to take the risk?

    3. the update was published October 9, 2008, and that I only bought my laptop at the end of January is it reasonable to assume that the resumption of the factory included a BIOS loading which included the updated? If there is, then I don't have a dilemma to worry! Is there a way to know this?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello!

First a question: you have a problem with your laptop?

If you don t have a problem with your laptop you should not update the BIOS or change anything on the system configuration and software.
Never touch a running system! ;)

Do not update BIOS if TEMPRO said. For example I only update my BIOS if I have a problem with it, but normally you should not do this.

    Good bye

  • Should I update my Bios?

I have an old DV6707us.  I bought a new computer and when it failed, I took my old laptop and replace the hard drive has failed. The original system is Windows Vista.  A couple of months he has reformatted the new hard drive and installed Win7.

My question is: there was an old BIOS upgrade, I the way back a couple of years ago, when the computer was using Win Vista: should I update the BIOS again since I installed Win 7?  He has not rejected since that time that I updated the BIOS with vista on it.

Hi imaspacewoman and welcome to the HP Forum!

I understand you're wondering if you need to update the BIOS. I suggest do you the BIOS update and am including this document to update the BIOS. Make sure you get the right Windows 7 update for 'your' computer.

  • Time to update the BIOS and firmware of remote management?

I'll put up a 'new' ThinkServer RD630 (2954A6U). It was purchased for a project that never happened, and we are now dry and reuse to replace an old Office Server. The current firmware versions are:

    • BIOS: 2.05
    • ME: 2.1.5.73
    • BMC 1.7
    • IPMI 2.0

Page 61 of the User Guide ThinkServer says, "update the BIOS on your server only if the new BIOS version specifically solves a problem you have. We don't recommend updates to the BIOS for servers that do not need. [...]"

As far as I know, we have no problems. The system starts fine and runs Windows Server 2012 well enough.

    HERE'S MY QUESTION:

Should I update the BIOS and firmware IMM (remote management) to the current version? Are there hidden problems, security issues or other concerns that it is worth?

Other indicators of initial configuration that you can share with a new admin would be much appreciated, too! Thank you.

With the help of the Lenovo Support, I was able to fix my problem where I couldn't get to the menu of the BIOS of the 630 RD (in F1) and all I saw was a cursor on the screen. I describe the procedure in detail here:

    https://forums.Lenovo.com/T5/ThinkServer-rack-mounted/BIOS-settings-blank-with-cursor-after-BIOS-UPD...

Thank you to all those who commented above and especially to those who have sent me suggestions via PMs.

  • Install Windows 7 Professional - update the BIOS?

I am running Windows Vista SP2 Home Premium 32 - bit on ThinkPad R400.

I want to switch to Win7 Pro.

Should I update the BIOS before installing Win7?

Also, I have to do something else before installing?

    Thank you very much.

You don't need to update the BIOS first, but we highly recommend it.

Are you planning on the 'upgrade' path or the ongoing "clean install" of execution?

  • Satellite 1000-Z2: driver Intel GPU does not - I should update the BIOS?

    Hello

I just downloaded and installed the latest driver for satellite 1000 Z2 graphics card which is Intel(r) 82830M chipset Driver revision: 6.14.10.3889. However, it does not work.

I wonder if I should update my BIOS first. Thank you

    Hello

It s always a good idea to update the BIOS. Thus, it would be the best you try the BIOS updated and then reinstall the graphics card driver. You can also (if it isn't already) check www.intel.com and download the drivers from there, they are sometimes more up-to-date than the drivers of toshiba. :)

Please give some comments if the installation of the graphics card took place after the BIOS update.

    See you soon

  • Satellite Pro A120: Need to update the BIOS after upgrade CPU

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120 and I need to update the bios of a change in cpu cause.
The laptop works very well, but for some reason any with the new processor fan runs always full.

A lot, I searched but found nothing.
The model number is PSAC1E-0QL04CG3 of ideas where I can find the bios?

    THX in advance,
    John

    Hello

First of all: update BIOS doesn t help you.
Why do you think that BIOS update should help reduce the activity of fan?

I guess that your new processor is faster. Right?
So it offers more performance and this leads to higher heat dissipation... so finally the CPU must be cooled and this can be done only if the cooling module would turn faster you agree with me?

By the way: the update of the BIOS is on the page of the Toshiba UE driver. Since the satellite Pro A120 is very old series, you will need to search for drivers in area Archive (Type of product-> Archive)

    Hi ML

Stupid question maybe now but why do you want to update the BIOS on this, I think, fairly new laptop model?
Have you noticed a few issues or hardware issues?

  • Update the BIOS - protected A600 problem

I'm trying to update my BIOS settings on my laptop (that I was invited to do by the service of Toshiba hardware update).

I followed all the instructions provided by the program because it extracted and ran the update. However, the computer began the reboot process, but has been 'disconnected' windows (Vista Business) for about an hour now. I don't know how to stop the process without causing serious damage to my BIOS, but this does not seem normal.

    Help, please!

    Hi wilreb...

I think that the user henharas a bad experience with the BIOS updates.
I updated the BIOS many times and never had any problems...

I assume you mean on Tempro software... this software informs you about updates on the Toshiba page. It is not a recommendation for an update, but simply an alert that new updates has been published...

If your laptop is running properly, then update the BIOS is not really necessary...
You must follow these tips; never change a running system ;)

In any case, after the update of the BIOS shouldn't take too long and if she has completed, you should see the new version in the BIOS settings...

    Check it out...

  • HP Omen: update the BIOS

HP support assistant shows that there is the following update:

    HP notebook System BIOS update
    Number SoftPaq SP74378

    should I worry?

    Thank you

    Hello

Thanks for posting in the Forum from HP Support.

    No, no need to worry.

Updated the BIOS/UEFI is not a critical task and I would say that you leave like this for now.

General recommendation I provided to users/customers is NOT to upgrade the BIOS/UEFI, unless they live any sort of BIOS/UEFI problem specific. Just for updaing and update just for the use of the latest verson is not the solution. Any type of update (no matter what and that relesed it) can solve 2 problems but can introduce more than 10 questions. In addition, upgrading the BIOS (for any provider) are risky more because the BIOS recovery is not that easy compared to updates of typical software IF something goes wrong.

Update/update IF you have any specific questions that you know have been fixed in the new version or for some serious security issues. Otherwise, keep the existing version as long as possible.

  • Is it possible to update the BIOS for the Satellite A110 (PSAB0) and Windows7?

    Hi all

I recently installed Windows 7 on Toshiba Satellite A110 (PSAB0).
The version of the system BIOS is v1.30
I want to Flash the BIOS for you last version v2.0.
This version is released in January 2009, before the introduction of Windows 7.

There are two versions of the BIOS download, one "for Vista only' and one 'OS independent.
I think I have to go to the operating system independent.
    Link: [update BIOS | http://www.toshiba.nl/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?service=EN&selCategory = 8 & selFamily = 192 & selSeries = 236 & selProduct = 661 & STAS hortMod = 478 & language = 1 = 12 & selOS & selType = 4 & yearupload = & monthupload = & dayupload = & we eDate = null & mode = allMachines & search = & action = search & macId = & country = 24 & selectedLanguage = 12 & type = 4 & page = 1 & ID = 66230 & DISO =-1 & driverLanguage = 42]

Independent of the OS has warning: + "this Bios is NOT compatible for notebook computers equipped with Windows Vista!" + "

So here's my question: this BIOS version is compatible with Windows 7?

    Thank you very much!!

    AJ.

    Hello

I think that this BIOS (v2.0) is not released for Windows 7 and that it has also not been tested with Windows 7. This BIOS has published 21.01.2009 and Windows 7 was released on July 22, 2009. However, on the other hand it s not mentioned that this BIOS is not compatible with Win 7.

But the fact is that only Windows 7 doesn't is NOT supported on this laptop.

Windows 7 drivers are not out on Sat A110, but this does not mean that you couldn't install Win 7 on this device. Of course, you can install the Win 7 system, but Toshiba does not provide any Win 7 software for this series.

    Back to BIOS update:
In your case I would try not to update the BIOS if the laptop works properly.
Why? Because the update of the BIOS is still a technique sensitive and you could damage it the motherboard if something goes wrong during the update of the BIOS.

  • Satellite M60 - cannot access the HARD disk but update the BIOS

    Hello

I want to update the bios on a Satellite M60
the problem is that I can't access either on my hard drive it still reboot

So, first I want to try to update my Bios but as I can't work with windos XP I need to do it with a Dos command.

is there any solution for this?

    Thank you very much

and why you want to update the BIOS?

Even if the BIOS is not updated, the laptop should work well and should start the Windows operating system.
This means that the problem with your laptop is unrelated to the old version of the BIOS.

Have you tried to check the HARD drive or to reinstall Win XP?

    Hello

I have a Toshiba R100 and try to update the BIOS of 1.20 to 1.60. However, I just get 'different ROM version' when I run the update.

The model number on the bottom is P2010 - this is slightly different from a R100? If Yes, where can I get a BIOS update?

    Thank you

    Hello

Well, I found the BIOS version 1.6 of 30.9.05 on the Toshiba driver page.
    This version should work properly.
I guess you tried to upgrade the BIOS with the win version. Please consult this document:
    IOS http://eu.Computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/FAQ.jsp?z=234&service=eu&from=faq_selection&CFID=B & FID = TRO0000000b07

You will find information how to upgrade the BIOS on the R100. You must use the trad-BIOS version.
