Shuffle algorithm

Does anyone have an idea what's the logic behind the random algorithm? I use it to run, so I turn it on, go running and then turn off after about an hour.  Next, turn it on and it is in the middle of the song that was playing the day before.  However, songs from the previous day's list seems to turn up.

My questions are: How does the "rocket" decide what order to play the shuffle?  What user actions can affect random playback (for example skipping songs, previous reading, cycling the device and recharge battery etc.)?

Thank you

Edward

The shuffle resets if you re-enable the shuffle market.  It will also reset if you choose a new song from the list (but shouldn't if you press on ignore, backward, pause, turn it off).  So in these cases, you start the shuffle from scratch and might get pieces in the previous maze (i.e. before you change it).  Since it starts on the same song, I know that you are not updating the database, so it does not that.

I let him repeat on and get no repeated track - changing just when it reaches the end of the current list and repeat the songs in a different order.

    I have 2 questions, which could not meet.

    1. If I have the player Shuffle a song repeat at all before he went through all the songs in the library?  That is to say. If I have 1500 songs on the player, song #5 repeated at all before playing other songs of 1499 first.

    2 - the player will lose my place if rebooted or pluged?  That is to say. If I played 50 songs and restarting the player or is connected to a computer to charge, it will then leave my music again when played?

    Yep, he again the shuffle, as far as I know (but I am not absolutely certain about it - maybe someone can experiment a bit and post it here).  A possibility -I wonder if you could create a playlist of all your songs and play this.

    Of course he could, but it won't have to avoid having to repeat the playlist after plugging in the computer. The problem is any time anything on the computer reads the files on the drive, if it be A / V software or other, which triggers an update of the database to the device.

    But rather than consider a "deal-breaker" and throw the baby out with the bath water, imhotep could also use the Rockbox firmware and do not have to suffer the way Sandisk firmware is written to work. In fact, he would not see a database refresh at all; It does in the background.

    Rockbox shuffle algorithm is supposed to be better though. More random and repeating all the songs until all have wagered. I don't know this 100%, but it's gossip.

  • Shuffle no consecutive repeats

    I have a presentation test of recovery that I work on. The data begin by repeating a source like this (dynamically generated) material:

    var thePrompts:Array = [1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,3,4,4,4,4];

    Can I mix data using this function:

    function shuffle(a:Array):Array {}

    a = a.Slice (0);

    for (var i: int =. Length-1; i > = 0; i--) {}

    var p:int=Math.floor(Math.random()*(1+i));

    var t: * = a [i];

    a [i] = a [p];

    a [p] = t;

    }

    return a;

    }

    However, it's random and I could end up with consecutive as repetitions:

    3,4,3,1,1,2,4,2,4,2,1,3,4

    The most repeated comments. And of course, there could be a lot of repetition. One approach to brutal force to check everything and if she repeats shuffle, it again seems to work very well. But it seems that it could take an arbitrary number of attempts to achieve.

    Does anyone know a smart algorithm to shuffle, but avoid consecutive repetitions?

    Or the intelligent algorithms to work through with rehearsals and change them to no rehearsal?

    If they all repeated a number of times and you have all the possible random rankings without consecutive repetitions, you can use:

    var a: Array = [1,2,3,4];

    var shuffledA:Array = shuffleSpecialF (a, 13);

    function shuffleSpecialF(a:Array,n:int):Array {}

    Shuffle (a);

    var rA:Array=a.slice();

    for (var i: int = 0; i

    Shuffle (a);

    {while (RA [RA. (Length-1]==a[0])}

    Shuffle (a);

    }

    rA = rA.concat (a);

    }

    return of rA;

    }

    function shuffle(a:Array) {}

    var p:int;

    var t: *;

    var ivar:int;

    for (ivar =. Length-1; Ivar > = 0; Ivar-) {}

    p = Math.Floor ((Ivar+1) * Math.Random ());

    t = a [ivar];

    a [ivar] = a [p];

    a [p] = t;

    }

    }

  • I have an OLD generation of iPod Shuffle.

    I have an old iPod Shuffle.

    It is no longer holds a charge and so died.

    My biggest concern is that I've got tons of music on the Shuffle, and it is not saved anywhere on my computer.

    I spoke with Apple, Best Buy and a local computer expert on the opening of the iPod to at least extract music files, but no one can or will do.

    Anyone know of someone who can open the iPod, maybe install a battery and transfer music files on?

    Thank you.

    The iPod always appear in iTunes or on your computer as a USB storage device when it is connected?  Shuffle can be opened, but the battery is hard to change, because everything is very low and the battery is soldered to the logic board.  Here you can see an illustrated repair guide

    https://www.iFixit.com/device/iPod_Shuffle

    But if the iPod is still currently on your computer, you can download the files of the song.  But not with iTunes.  By design, iTunes sync is generally in one direction, from iTunes to iPod library.  However, he third methods and utilities that can transfer from iPod to computer.  If you do an Internet search on something like 'ipod music transfer', you should get a few useful links, including a CNET article on the subject.

  • iOS 10 playlist shuffle cutting end songs?

    After that a number of loading songs organized in playlists, I'm having a problem where when I mix a playlist, it cuts the ends of songs.  Observations and trials so far leads me to believe that this is only related to the brewing of playlists.  I also see that the display of the song on the lock screen not display correctly when dragging a playlist. A song ends, the next one will start, but what is showing on the screen is the previous song. For anywhere from 30 to 45 seconds. Then the next song will appear on the screen, and the progress bar is already in the 'good' place.

    • Played start of album to not finish - no problem
    • Played same album Shuffle - no problem
    • Played Playlist containing same album departure for end - no problem
    • Played the same Playlist on shuffle - cuts of songs, lock screen messed up, etc.

    Even the tests loading songs and playlist in iTunes, then a few iTunes songs and playlist construction on my phone.

    iPhone 6, IOS 10.0.2, iTunes

    You found a solution for this? Apple is working on it?

    I don't really like iOS 10.  It took me a week just to make my downloaded music can be used again.

  • iPod shuffle

    Already, I have an Ipod shuffle and have now a second.  It appears, but does not allow me to put the music on it. What I am doing wrong.

    How do you want 'place on the music?  You are using automatic synchronization, or by using the parameter manually manage music .

    Select the shuffle in iTunes by clicking on its button on the device.  Here is a screenshot of the top left corner of the window iTunes with shuffle button circled in red.

    Click this button to display the settings summary shuffle in the iTunes window.  If your shuffle is the current shuffle gen 4 (or 3), use the method Manual (songs of drag and drop on shuffle in iTunes), tick the box to manually manage music (and apply).

    To use synchronization Automatic , along the left side, in the sidebar, under settings, click on musicMusic settings on the screen the shuffle appears to the right.  Check the box to Sync music.  Set up this form as you wish and click apply.

    Can I charge my iPod Shuffle 4th Gen with a wall charger or do I need to use a computer?

    You can use a wall charger. The following, for example, shows in the section compatibility as being compatible with the iPod Shuffle 4th generation: http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MD810LL/A/apple-5w-usb-power-adapter?fnode=0a8 96cef6682809aaf80e8c3741f09ed6d7df9585e7fc21bb39381e2a99a7f56b6f149e5ab72d8416a9 bfa670e36cc43168558b8b8c033b881948c1230b7156cbe51af44f7fd2b9ab533d7cb453e844ccd1 80b8e71aa7359ff2698b40de39b3b

    The foregoing generally comes with iPhones, but if you have a charger which comes with an iPad, which can also be used with the Shuffle: http://www.apple.com/shop/product/MD836LL/A/apple-12w-usb-power-adapter?fnode=0a 896cef6682809aaf80e8c3741f09ed6d7df9585e7fc21bb39381e2a99a7f56b6f149e5ab72d8416a 9bfa670e36cc43168558b8b8c033b881948c1230b7156cbe51af44f7fd2b9ab533d7cb453e844ccd 180b8e71aa7359ff2698b40de39b3b

  • How do you turn off shuffle on iOS10

    Since the update of iOS10.02 it is not a power to shuffle on and off or more of continuous play.  Once the shuffle is turned on it does not turn off even after that you reset the phone.  Does anyone know how to turn off or how to activate the continuous game?

    You can scroll down more than the song played screen showing. Theres a button to shuffle and repeat.

  • My iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen the same song just rehearsals

    I have an Ipod 2nd generation shuffle, and he will never play the song I put on, he would usually play about 6 of the continuously, despite having lots of songs on this subject. I recently restored to factory settings and got 64 songs on it, but he will play only one of them, which she repeats,

    The shuffle uses flash storage.  Flash storage ends by wears.  Thus, the cause may be a hardware problem on your shuffle, especially since a 2nd gen shuffle is about 10 years at this point.

    One thing you can try is to reformat the shuffle outside iTunes store.  This must be done in a particular way.  Are you using a Mac or a Windows PC?

  • iTunes 12.5 randomly adding to the next place; Shuffle off

    First of all, I want to mention that I am a developer of software (specifically for the iOS and OS X platforms), so I'm no stranger to the resolution of the problems. However, I've looked everywhere on the internet for people with a similar problem and found nothing!

    The question

    To play any song, whether it's straight out of an album in my recently added or one through research, my iTunes automatically adds songs randomly my library to the next place. So even if I decide to play the 4th song in an album, instead of playing the song 5 after that, he'll play another song randomly my library. Before ask you, shuffle is and has always been, disabled. I do not use the shuffle. It's one of the reasons as to why this is becoming quite annoying.

    Steps to reproduce

    Something to note that this happens only occasionally. Sometimes my library will play things very well, and then randomly, the bug will be add to my next place and ruin everything. The bug happens usually when I play on a new album. I use AirPlay occasionally as well, but I do not have all memory of if everything changes when enabled / disable. Curiously, he can't always launch. It be peut, but not always.

    As an estimate of the frequency approximate, if I'm playing music off my library for 5 hours of the day, it will happen 3 - 4 times.

    1. Open iTunes (make sure shuffle is off)
    2. Start playing a song from anywhere, be it of an album or single
    3. iTunes will eventually add songs to my next place at random

    Temporary workaround

    Even once to the top following was deleted, and I try to play a new song, iTunes will be once more, to add to the next place. It's that when I clear the next room, turn shuffle on and then turn off shuffle again, it stops. Sometimes the out-turned on will not work, and I have to repeat 2 or 3 times until it finally stopped.

    This question and discovered the following:

    It depends on where you click to start the track. If you click directly with simple click the small arrow that appears when moving the mouse on the title you want to play first, he will play songs randomly thereafter.

    If you double-click the title itself (not the small arrow), then it will play not random.

    It's not intuitive user experience.

  • ITunes is default music shuffle

    Everytime I open itunes and select a song to play, I expect to play the next song in the list. Instead itunes fills in advance the list of the next with a list mixed elements. I have to hear the next song in the list, delete the following list of top. I did not choose shuffle then why are the songs of brewing?  I really do not use the shuffle option or the list of the next so what am I doing wrong? It's very annoying.

  • Apple music always on Shuffle

    Anyone having trouble with their Apple music always is on shuffle on their iPhone?  Since I have updated to iOS 10 on my iPhone what I listen to some remodeling.  I can't listen to anything in the order.

    Welcome to Apple Support communities, thelakeeffect25!

    I use Apple music too and I enjoy to blur things upwards from time to time. But when I want to listen to an album in sequential, random order should not be working. I'll be happy to help you with Shuffle on your iPhone upgraded to iOS 10 6s.

    Force a nearby application on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch - Force-Quit the application music on your phone if it is on.

    Re-open the application music and start playing a song. Once she went back, scan until you see the player, the shot upward to see what's next upward. If the shuffle symbol is red, tap it to turn it off. If the symbol is not red, exit music reset to play normally.

    I hope this helps!

  • That means a green light flashing on iPod Shuffle 4th Gen?

    When you listen to songs on my iPod Shuffle 4th gen, the LED flashes green (connected to the helmet, not the USB port on the computer).  I thought it was supposed to stay green. What does a flashing green light?  Thank you.

    When you play the shuffle, the light usually indicates the level of battery charge.  Green , fresh strong (I think that more than 25%).  He goes to the orangeand then Red (reduced rate).  While playing songs, he should not stay ON or flashes continuously, unless you press the control buttons.
