Shuffle memory

The summary on my 2 GB Shuffle page 1.1 GB of "other".  I can't access it to see what is there.  I tried to do a reset to factory settings, but I'm not allowed because another program is using files on the Shuffle.  Can someone give an overview?  I'm more than willing to go back to a completely empty device.

Thanks for any info anyone can provide.

Gary FS

You should be able to do a restore via iTunes, and this is the appropriate action for the 'Other' question.  Eject shuffle in iTunes and disconnect.  Reconnect the shuffle and immediately try to restore in iTunes.

If you get the same error message, try restarting your computer.  Immediately after startup is complete, run iTunes, connect the shuffle and try to restore again.

  • iTunes 12.5 randomly adding to the next place; Shuffle off

First of all, I want to mention that I am a developer of software (specifically for the iOS and OS X platforms), so I'm no stranger to the resolution of the problems. However, I've looked everywhere on the internet for people with a similar problem and found nothing!

    The question

To play any song, whether it's straight out of an album in my recently added or one through research, my iTunes automatically adds songs randomly my library to the next place. So even if I decide to play the 4th song in an album, instead of playing the song 5 after that, he'll play another song randomly my library. Before ask you, shuffle is and has always been, disabled. I do not use the shuffle. It's one of the reasons as to why this is becoming quite annoying.

    Steps to reproduce

Something to note that this happens only occasionally. Sometimes my library will play things very well, and then randomly, the bug will be add to my next place and ruin everything. The bug happens usually when I play on a new album. I use AirPlay occasionally as well, but I do not have all memory of if everything changes when enabled / disable. Curiously, he can't always launch. It be peut, but not always.

As an estimate of the frequency approximate, if I'm playing music off my library for 5 hours of the day, it will happen 3 - 4 times.

    1. Open iTunes (make sure shuffle is off)
    2. Start playing a song from anywhere, be it of an album or single
    3. iTunes will eventually add songs to my next place at random

    Temporary workaround

Even once to the top following was deleted, and I try to play a new song, iTunes will be once more, to add to the next place. It's that when I clear the next room, turn shuffle on and then turn off shuffle again, it stops. Sometimes the out-turned on will not work, and I have to repeat 2 or 3 times until it finally stopped.

This question and discovered the following:

It depends on where you click to start the track. If you click directly with simple click the small arrow that appears when moving the mouse on the title you want to play first, he will play songs randomly thereafter.

If you double-click the title itself (not the small arrow), then it will play not random.

    It's not intuitive user experience.

  • I have a lot of activity of page file and page faults with 2.5 GB of RAM memory

    Hello

I tried to find the reason for the slow performance on my pc and the limiting factor seems to be the activity of page file and errors of memory page. It is Win XP sp 3 with 2.5 GB of RAM and a processor 2.8 GHz (core). The task manager has never really shown a problem, memory use was rarely higher than 30%, around 10% page file use (I have the initial value, 3.5 GB 4 GB max) and CPU rarely hits 100%, but even when the task manager has revealed no particular problem the system shuts down sometimes for several seconds on starting the program or file to open. To follow the reason down I have installed a more detailed tracking software, which shows up to 1200 files page per second being transferred to or from the virtual memory and up to 8000 page errors per second during these breaks. This could be the cause, and if I can change all the settings to make more efficient memory management?

    Thank you

My copy/paste standard when someone thinks PFs is / are part of their performance problem (but it's probably not...):

I'm guessing that you see in the Task Manager and you have chosen to display the column of Page faults?

If this is the case, given that the column of Page faults is not normally displayed if you activated, perhaps you are looking for some performance issue.

A Page fault does not mean that there is a problem.

A Page fault means generally that the application needs some data that are not in physical memory (RAM) at the time.  When the application needs some data that is not in the local memory and must recover from the paging file on the hard drive which is a way, you will see an error Page generated.

Sounds kind of bad because it has the word 'Fault' in there, but it is really normal.  If you call your task manager after a reboot (do not use any browser), all applications are likely to have at least some page faults, even if you just restarted and "did not" do anything yet.

Some applications may generate a few hundred or a few thousand Page Faults on a restart and then does not change.  The only thing in the task manager that will have zero Page faults is the system idle process, but this is a special case.

Knowing what is a Page fault, you can understand that if your system does not have enough RAM for your operations, XP will need to move out to the pagefile often to get things he needs things there can be not in RAM when he needs.  Whenever she does this, you will have a Page fault.  The less RAM you have, more your applications will have hit the swap file to get their data, but you should be able to control some of this and you may even not notice "" the faults of Page at all--they happen all the time.

So, one might think that if you turned off your pagefile and ran without a paging file, you would see zero Page faults in the Task Manager.  That sounds good, but this isn't the way things work.  XP works best when you have a system managed pagefile size (generally) the value if you probably won't work without a pagefile.

You would always see Page errors in the Task Manager is because there are hard and soft Page faults Page faults, and you would see soft Page faults.

A hard Page fault would be access to the disk paging file.  A soft Page fault would be just a shuffle or the reorganization of the things that are already in memory.  The Task Manager just them put everything in the column Page Fault and you can't make a difference.

Given that the Task Manager offers two types of page faults in a single column you will need else with more granularity (such as performance monitor), tools that allow to separate Page faults in soft Page faults and performance monitoring of hard Page faults.    If you turn off your paging file and use Perfmon to split the Page faults on different types and follow them separately and have no pagefile, you see zero hard Page faults, but still see soft Page faults as a separate counter.

I ran XP for a l-o-n-g time with only 256 MB of RAM and was quite satisfied with her for several years once I dialed things.

Most your system and applications run, Page faults accumulate so that application until the application ends and restarted, then the Page counters error starts to the new and will keep goes upward, upward, toward the top and up - it does not mean necessarily you have a problem and PFs are not likely to be the cause of your performance problems.

I do not think that you will see top-down but you can start them by restarting the application.

  • Brewing between internal memory and external memory SD card

The Sansa Clip + shuffle between songs on the internal memory and the external memory SD card; or are they seen as different to play songs stored on the internal and external SD card? I have 4 GB Clip + with a 8 GB external SD card. What total 12 GB? Or should I spend inside out manually to hear the songs loaded on the external SD card?

    Yes.

I have 4 GB Clip + with a 8 GB external SD card. What total 12 GB?

In theory, Yes. In actual practice, but it will be probably closer to 10.75 to 11FR.

Or should I spend inside out manually to hear the songs loaded on the external SD card?

N ° the player will play seamlessly two memory slots when you use the random mode.

  • E200 issue of playlist/shuffle SD R - box'ed

    Hello all-

I have a couple of E200, two V1. Both are Rockbox' ed. I want to use microsdhc cards more in them, but am puzzled something. How can I get the shuffle function to 'see' the songs at the same time the main memory & card so that it mixes through all the songs? At the present time, he'll mix one or the other, but not both.

I thought to create a playlist for everything, but since Sansa V1 recognize even a 4 GB card, I can't synchronize just something. How I put together a playlist of the player off power & make run the player? Or, if all goes well, how I just get the player to shuffle through the entire library on it?

If all goes well, it's very easy & I appear quite stupid. ;-)

Wow, it was easy & I'm stupid! ;-) I used lists song under "Files" instead of "Database". I tried & mix it all without a hitch. Thank you!

  • Function random memory game

    Hello

I did a memory game with a tutorial. My AS3 knowledge is not very good so I have the following question.

There is a function as generate Math.Random number at random and put them on stage. I made a game of memory and the cards are in the same place whenever I play the "film".

I want that they shuffle every time I restart the game. How can I write a good random function in AS3?

    Thank you.

    Joep van Dongen

I see no attempt in your code to try to shoot randomly no matter what, but an approach here, I'm going to suggest.

    Connect each map to a table as soon as each is instantiated and affect the x and there contact information of the location of each in another table (you can store the pairs objects... {(_x: x, FLF: y).}

Once they are all created and tables are full, shuffle, one of these two tables, or both if you wish, then go through a loop and assign to each instance of a new location by using the two tables.

  • Blue screen and bad RAM memory?

My MBP 2011 early all just stopped working yesterday, it worked very well without any problem of performance for the last 5 years, and then suddenly a blue screen (of death) and it has problems starting.

He will ring the Bell to start, display the bar loading and Apple, and then there will be a glitch on the big screen (horizontally) 1 inch above the Apple, after that, the fans speed up and all that I see a gray screen, not user interface.

    • MacBook
    • iMac

    2010 or later

    • MacBook Air
    • MacBook Pro
    • Mini Mac
    • Mac Pro

If you do not meet the above, but respect what follows, then you can upgrade to El Capitan.

    Upgrade to El Capitan

You can pass the Lion El Capitan or directly from Snow Leopard. El Capitan can be downloaded for FREE from the Mac App Store.

To upgrade to El Capitan, you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or installed Lion. Download El Capitan from the App Store. Sign in with your Apple ID. El Capitan is free. The file is big enough, more than 5 GB, allow it some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

Mac that can be upgraded to OS X El Capitan

1 iMac (mid-2007 or newer) - model identifier 7.1 or later

2 MacBook (late 2008 or early 2009 or newer aluminium) - model identifier 5.1 or later

    3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)- model identifier 3.1 or later version

4 MacBook Air (late 2008 or newer)- model identifier 2.1 or later

5 mac mini (early 2009 or newer)- model identifier 3.1 or later version

6 mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)- model identifier 3.1 or later version

7 Xserve (early 2009) - model identifier 3.1 or later version

To find the identifier of the model open system information in the Utilities folder. It is displayed in the Panel on the right.

    Upgrade to Lion

If your computer does not meet requirements to install the above, it can still meet the specifications to install Lion.

You can buy Lion to the Apple store. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus taxes.  It's a download. You will receive an email with a redemption code that you then use on the Mac App Store for download Lion. Save a copy of this installer to your download folder because Setup deletes itself at the end of the installation.

    Lion system requirements

1 mac with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,

    or Xeon processor

    2. 2 GB of memory

    3 OS X 10.6.6 or later (10.6.8) recommended

    4. 7 GB of available space

    5. certain features require an Apple ID; conditions apply.

  • Why must the Finder 10.12 more physical memory

    Hello

I use the preview mode icons in the Finder feature to pre-select one or more images for later use in documents. The pre-selection spans more than 30-40 records, each a few images from 80 to 120. At the beginning just after the start of system-Finder takes about MB, 45-47. Working through records about 20 this is increased to a muscular 1.78 GB. Which is not a problem at the moment because I have 20 GB of available, but I was wondering why the Finder is the hungry.  And also, this increase in the number of forever with the number of records, I'm working through?

The only way I can "free" memory to baseline is to force quit viewfinder, but there must be a more elegant method.

Anyone know this method? Thanks in advance.

    Hans

Finder, as the system and other applications, will use unused memory in the file cache. It uses more memory, but it does not use what is available and who otherwise would be wasted. If something else needs memory, cache memory is reduced. There is no need to keep 'liberation' memory. The system will take care of him for you (that's why all apps free memory are unnecessary placebos that actually reduce performance).

  • "Your system is running out of Application memory"

    Hello

Since last week I have been having a problem where my computer screen appears with a reading of the question 'your system has sold out of the memory of the application.' This happens around every 20-30 minutes to use my computer, where the issue is resolved by restarting my computer. However, this message appears when I have 1 or 2 applications open (including the permanent Finder application). At my computer without a doubt a lot of memory left and I installed only 5 additional applications: League of Legends, Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, Word and Outlook. I used OS X El Capitan for the first half of the week and macOS Sierra for the second half, but the upgrade did not solve my problem.

    I run:

MacBook Air (13 inch, mid 2013)

1.3 GHz Intel Core i5 processor

    DDR3 4 GB 1600 MHz memory

    Start drive Macintosh HD

Graphics Intel HD Graphics 5000 1536 MB

Your system is running out of RAM, not disk space. 4 GB is the absolute minimum of RAM. Try to remove all unnecessary startup items (Preferences > users and groups > you > login items) with the key less (not simply uncheck the boxes - which hide just the app but it still works).

You can also run activity monitor (Applications > utilities) to see what is using the memory.

  • Purgeable memory

I had just recently purgeable memory appear in my closet for my Macbook pro under OS Sierra 2015. What is this memory for and where it comes from?

Purgeable disk memory is disk with files stored in it. The most frequent creator of them is "snapshot backups" created during your regular backup drive is not available.

Purgeable means they will be deleted immediately if another Application requires you to file that isn't otherwise available space.
