  Go to your System Preferences/display laptop and change the scaling of default to more space.   It is an iMac of retina so don't know if you will have the same settings.

  You can close the bookmarks bar via its close X or the shortcut Ctrl + B key.

  Make sure the toolbars as the 'personal bar' are visible.

  You can accomplish a lot of things with these portrait photos. For the basic level, you can place on 2 video tracks and a cache of color (from the new icon in the Panel of projcect), or you can take it to a whole different level. A single treatment, see this ARTICLE.
