• Compatibility Microsoft Sidewinder Dual Strike Gaming Controller

  Can someone please tell me if there is progress regarding the compatibility with Windows 7 the Dual Strike and its associated sidewinder software. I had this works well in WindowsXP - even with installed SP3!

  I saw the previous answer to this question that is frankly - unfortunately incorrect. Although the double strike - (being a USB device) - does not install automatically (kind of) in windows 7 - is NOT recognized when the games is open. I can't do THE buttons to assign it to the actions of in the game set up the menu (Dark Void game as a good example) that is to say - it does not work.

  Also - can I install sidewinder in compatibility mode - but that's where it ends. When I try to open sidewinder central to assign keys to buttons - I get a message saying: "there was a problem which may be due to low system resources - close other programs and try again." Then, when I try and close sidewinder - I get another message saying "Windows host process (Rundll32) has stopped working."

  Now obviously a controller programmable games that - a. who don't recognize not games and b. he can't program keys - are kind of redundant isn't.

  I'm afraid to change the compatibility settings, either manually or by using the Troubleshoot utility has absolutely no effect.

  Does anyone have a solution?

  I looked at all the links above - without success - Similarly, I found a Microsoft soutions Web page that says this game contoller went well with windows 7

  (obviously written by someone who does not even tried to use it).

  The problem is that the Sidewinder game software is not compatible with windows 7 - even in mode of compatibility, and therefore, the buttons cannot be programmed.

  For those who have the same problem - I found a solution using the 3rd party software called Xpadder - available at Xpadder.com

  (or just google Xpadder and you'll find it).

  This allows all the buttons to program, works in Windows 7 and is a good replacement for the sidewinder software.

  But why I'm able to use 3rd party software?

  Is that a shame isn't - that Microsoft can't be bothered to support their own products and we had to spend hours and hours searching for 3rd party solutions.

  I think this has tought me a lesson - and I have to think very carefully before buying a product microsoft again.

• How will I know what buttons do what on my Microsoft SideWinder Joystick game controller in flight simulator

  I use sidewinder on Flight Simulator.  It seems to work, but I can't figure out what that other buttons work, can't find a manual for it.

  Did you receive a manual of the product as well as the gamepad?

  I doubt if this would be converted to USB connection since it's an old device that is compatible with XP only. For the best experience in games, I personally suggest you to upgrade the perimeter game, for example, Microsoft SideWinder Mouse.

• Does anyone know how to get a sidewinder joystick to work with 98 microsoft Flight Simulator using windows XP

  I am trying to install a Flight Simulator microsoft 98 on my windows XP with a microsoft sidewinder broom handle.  I can get the aircraft to take off and climb the keyboard, but that's all it will do.  Any suggestions?  Thanks, Jim

• Why my SideWinder Precision 2 is not recognized by my game?

  It seems to work fine as XP is concerned. It appears in the control panel and Setup seems to work very well. It works even in recent games. The problem is when I try to play Crimson Skies. He didn't see any of my joystick. I tried to install and reinstall the drivers and even using XP built in drivers but nothing. I have defined the main joystick on the Sidewinder, checked and rechecked to options of controls of the games and still nothing. The best I could do is create profiles to map the game buttons to match the keyboard commands, but the stick and the throttle are still useless.

  I know it is an old game (2000) and older joystick. But they work all Microsoft products and they work perfectly together on my old 98 machine. What's going on here and how can I solve this problem?

  Directly update does not solve my problem, but the Readme with it did.
  "Several unsupported controllers: If more than one joystick or gamepad is connected to your computer, only work in Crimson Skies."

  I didn't have a second joystick, but I once connected a Wiimote in bluetooth and windows acted like it was still connected. Disable it solved my problem.

• Microsoft SideWinder X 8 questions, the battery icon flashes

  I am owner of a mouse from Microsoft Siderwinder X 8 like it, but all of a sudden it locked then I disconnected the mouse and plugged in, now, I'm getting a battery icon flashing on the X 8 Sidewinder even when its plugged into the charger.

  No idea why this would happen or suggestions?

• need help with old microsoft sidewinder precision pro to work on windows xp

  I have windows xp family. I try to get my old precision sidewinder pro controller to work. XP does not recognize the controller even when I went to the control panel command, game controllers, sidewinder(auto detect), all I get is, your gameport or gameport drivers are not properly configured. I don't have my original disc supplied with the controller. Can you please direct me in a simple way so that it works because I'm not very good with the Tech stuff. The product I.D. # for my controller is: 85791-579-9297393-00000. The manufacturer is: x 03-57540. It's a Microsoft Precision Pro.   Microsoft has dropped support for this product. As such there is no driver available for this product.

  However, according to the Compatibility Center Windows 7, Microsoft Sidewinder joystick is compatible with Windows 7. You can see the report here.

  Therefore, using control of pilot integrated Windows if you manage to get the device works. If you have the old drivers CD, you can try changing the compatibility of the driver settings to make it work.

  Method 1:

• SideWinder x 8 does not load

  It seems that my charger sidewinder x 8 quit smoking. My sidewinder x 8 works fine. Yesterday, my swider x 8 collapsed in the middle of using it. No lights nothing it does nothing so I took out the battery and put it back flashed and went out. I tried another battery and worked fine for awhile (1 h) so huh, I took both batteries in my personal charger over night and using the original battery, we're talking about. Works very well.

  Once the mouse indicator light charge came and went out after some time (10 min), showing that the battery was dead and flickered.

  More lights came on the side and back. Lasted 10 minutes and back to blue light under Center.

  OK, I see the blue light on the center of the bottom only. I push all the work of large buttons. Choises of PGD light for a few seconds and gos on. 1, 2 and 3 works great.

  huh, I started to lean toward the charger:

  I have updated the wire 3 pins on my 8 x no difference.

  I removed the battery and replace the wire 3 pins on the x 8 noithing

  I have not reinstalled the system driver in Control Panel, no difference. Gently, I moved and didn't shoot 3-pin cable and usb input changed no difference.

  The pricing system seems to do nothing. I have never had any problems until the workload problem.

  Question, does not the wire of 3 cells more when you use the mouse with or without the battery installed?

  I have taken battery and tried with cable 3 pins only, nothing. He must work correct me if I'm wrong.

• SideWinder X 3 freezes randomly

  My sidewinder X 3 freezes up for several minutes at a time. It doesn't seem to affect all other processes. My slider just stops and the sensitivity on the fly changer does not work either. After a while the mouse started working again in itself. Plug the mouse has no effect. I have another optical USB mouse that works perfectly in the same ports as the sidewinder. The mouse is brand new and it has done this since I bought it. Im running windows 7 64 bit. Someone else has encountered the same problem? What broke?

  It sounds like your X 3 could be faulty. Try a clean reinstall of the updated drivers to update mouse (uninstall the existing driver, restart, then install the new driver.) If it doesn't work still not, and you are in your retailers time to product returns that I suggest you get the mouse replaced.
