  • OSX El Capitan downloaded but does not install

HI, I'm trying to improve Yosemite 10.10.5 to El Capitan on an iMac 2010.  Apple Store shows that El Capitan is "downloaded", but it does not seem to pass to install on its own.  I have to do something to start the installation?  He showed "Uploaded" for more than 3 hours.  I recently reformatted my hard duct so there is more than 425 GB of available space.  Thanks for any help you can provide.

What are you download if erase you the drive? Without an active operating system the downloaded file has never been saved, and cannot work. You should have left well enough alone. You will need to install a version of Mac OS X to upgrade to El Capitan. If your computer comes with Lion or later version, you can do a Net recovery:

Installation of the net recovery of El Capitan

    1. Restart the computer. Immediately after the chime, press Command + Option + R until a globe appears.
    2. The Utility Menu appears in 5 to 20 minutes. Be patient.
    3. Select disk utility, then click on the continue button.
    4. When loading disk utility, select the drive (generally, the entry Out-bumpy) in the list aside.
    5. Click the Partition tab in the main window of disk utility. A panel will fall.
    6. Set the GUID partition scheme.
    7. Define the type of Format Mac OS extended (journaled).
    8. Click on the apply button, then click the fact when it is active.
    9. Quit disk utility and re-enter the Utility Menu.
    10. Select reinstall OS X and click on the continue button.

This should install it the version of Mac OS X that has been previously installed when the computer was new.

  • Windows/Microsoft Update downloads but will not install. MSE unable to update itself either when it is installed.

Microsoft Update fails to install updates and provides no information whatsoever (other that the installation has not of course).
But the only update I could not go to Microsoft Download Center (fromwhich I could install (nearly) all updates Microsoft Update do not reach), is an update to Windows Security Essentials, which is registered on Ms Update but not available from the Ms Download Center, and which is not detected by Win Security Essentials Update button (this show error code is 0 x 80240022).
There is definitely a problem with my Ms Update. I tried three different solutions on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943144 and no fixed it.
How can I solve this problem with Ms Update?

Too late now, my friend.  Running another repair facility - even if you can uninstall IE8 (which you can not according to your last post) - won't fix everything.

Your only recourse now is to a format the hard drive & then (b) make a clean Windows installation.

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

  • iOS 9.2.1 has downloaded but will not install

Last night, I downloaded the new ios 9.2.1 update on my phone in wifi. The problem is that it will not be installed. Everything that appears after I agree with the terms and conditions is 'Unable to Install Update error installing iOS 9.2.1. ' There is no error code that I can use to try to solve the problem.

I feel like I have tried everything, turn on/off, reset by pressing my phone home and lock button, to the last updated version of my itunes on my computer, and nothing has worked!

I have very limited access to the internet and borrowed a friends internet to download the updated wireless on my phone. The only problem I think is that my current iOS is old to 6.1.3 and it cannot update from an old phone. The reason why I kept my phone never day because I have terrible internet and always seemed to have these problems!

I also had enough free space on my phone when I have tried all the installation because the phone told me to clear 3.5 GB of data before I could even download the update.

Once I reset my phone (hold down the lock button and "home" button) the message below appears:

Cannot install the update updated software update requires a network connection"

Is still very vague as to what a network connection. I tried installing the iOS being connected to wifi, as well as my cellular data and no work! IM so frustrated seriously and really need to update my phone because most of my apps doesn't work anymore (because my current iOS 6.1.3 is so old!)

    Someone please help!

I don't want to restore settings because of what Ive tried, he should continue to download the new update and I simply don't have the internet connection to do!

Problem has been resolved.  The permissions on the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify\SensLogn had to be reset.  This enabled the settings of this key be restored and Windows Update works now.  I suspect that this problem occurred initially because of a crash of an Acronis image training program that was causing problems.

Am currently using Vista Home Premium - tried to @ microsoft online help but cannot go beyond Administrator error, also, will not accept the number of product (from the computer itself) - also tried the Adobe help page which was pretty much useless...

This error usually indicates a problem with the .NET Framework (one of them at least).  Because the 2.0 and 3.0 are part of the Vista operating system they cannot be uninstalled and reinstalled without any Vista at the same time.  But sometimes CFS can fix problems of frame (as can a chkdsk if a framework file is located in a corrupted sector or block).

Go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run.  It will scan and try to correct some of your system files.  If all goes well he comes complete with no corruption, it could not repair (if it has these post of corruption here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files usinghttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228.  Try to put all the corrupt files here so that we can see if they can be repaired with good copies of the installation disc (unless there are too many).

While in the command prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and enter and let it run.  They tried to set itself to run at the next reboot.   Answer Yes and restart to run the program.  It will scan and attempt to resolve any corruption or bad sectors on your hard drive and remove especially as a potential cause.

Then try again and see if you get the same error.  This time right click on the system icon and then click on run as administrator (sometimes it helps and it can't hurt).

If it persists, try the following:

    1. Open an administrator command prompt: start > all programs > Accessories > right click on command prompt and select "run as Administrator".
    2. In the command prompt, type the following command:
      true fsutil resource setautoreset C:\
This assumes that C: is the drive where Vista is installed. If it is installed on another drive as D:, please change the appropriate drive letter.
    3. Restart the system.
    4. Installation of Acrobat or Adobe Reader again.

I hope that one of these solutions works. Keep me in the loop.

    Good luck!

  • Cannot install flash. GP.xpi file download, but does not install program. Adobe is added to safe sites. Disabled NoScript. 3rd party cookies active. What can I do else?

Plugins, which shows is: getPlusPlus for Adobe 16290.
In extensions, there are: Adobe DLM 1.6.2.90

When trying to download FF plug-ins, 'allow' arises.
All I get is "install missing plugins".

    Shockwave installs.

I don't like the Adobe DLM and it is not necessary to install Flash. I prefer to use manual installation programs, for details, see http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_ManualInstaller

  • SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 4 download but does not install.

Have tried several times to install the update, but it does not update. Don't know how to force an update.

    Hi vintagejames,

    ·        How long have you been experiencing this problem?

    ·        You receive an error message?

    ·        You install the update via windows update or manually?

I suggest you try the steps mentioned below and check if it helps.

Method 1: Try disabling the security software temporarily.

Note:  Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Method 2: Try to install the stand-alone package manually. See the link for the last update:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/913089
