  • Since Firefox v34, after Zoom text on a Google search page took me, the Google search page is empty after you click 'Back' to it. What is a v34 glitch?

Since Firefox v34, search results page is empty, 1) by clicking a link in a Google search results page and loading of the linked page, 2) Zoom on the text on the page that Google took me and then without resetting the zoom text, 3) by clicking on the arrow of Firefox 'Back' to return to Google search results. If at that time I reload the page of Google results, or click back one page and will transmit then again, the full search results will be displayed then again.

This happens on my Windows 7 PC as well as my Vista laptop. Is it a glitch with text zoom and Google in Firefox version 34?

Sorry, this seems to be a problem with the cache in memory of Firefox: when you use a high Google zoom level the (the default setting) with "instant prediction results" then Firefox pips showing again after going back page (you can see the results for a fraction of a second before they white).

Assuming you like your zoom level and enjoy using the instant prediction results, then the solution is to disable the part of the Firefox cached in memory by changing a setting under the covers.

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste sess and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewers and change the value from-1 to 0 (that's a zero).

(Please change not all other parameters similar to 0-sounding or you can disable the ability of Firefox to save/restore your tabs and windows open).

Then reload the page of Google results and the test.

Fixed? (Or should I say, worked around?)

  • Firefox will not show the italics on my site, but Chrome and Safari only.

    Dear Mozilla Support,
I have a mounting site that lists a lot of the books I've edited (see http://www.desertsagebookeditor.com/trade-books-edited-waldygo.html and http://www.desertsagebookeditor.com/professional-and-academic-books-edited-waldygo.html). When I designed the site in RapidWeaver 5, I put the titles in italics. But Firefox won't show titles in italics, although Chrome and Safari. I am running OSX 10.7 on a 2009 Macbook Pro (version 33.0.3 of Firefox). You have an idea how I can fix? RapidWeaver tech guys say that there is nothing wrong with my code.
    Thank you
    Patti

This old version of the page in the Internet Archive has the correct italic style: https://web.archive.org/web/20131208083151/http :// www.desertsagebookeditor.com/trade-books-edited-waldygo.html

The new version of the style.css has the "reset style" I mentioned that disables the tag 'em to appear in italics.

    Old version: https://web.archive.org/web/20131208083151cs_/http :// www.desertsagebookeditor.com/rw_common/themes/blocksbox/style.css

New version: http://www.desertsagebookeditor.com/rw_common/themes/blocksbox/style.css (see the Reset section at the top)

I don't know why this has changed, but I think that may be what caused it.

In firefox, 28 and all versions before that when I had Windows High Contrast active firefox would also be in high contrast. This would make black Web pages and all the text would become white. Because of my disability which makes it much easier for me to see and walk through it. Since firefox 29 and the introduction of the Australia theme but it seems like a high contrast in windows is no longer supported by firefox. That's why I went down to firefox 28 in order to be able to navigate as I used to.

  • I've updated Windows 8.0 Windows 8.1, since Firefox run a bit oddly. In particular, when on the sites with lots of images like Facebook, etc.

Hello, I am writing because I have a few problems with my favorite browser after update to 8.1 Windows. Here are some details. I've updated Windows 8.0 Windows 8.1, since Firefox run a bit oddly. In particular, when on sites with lots of images like Facebook. It's as if there is some sort of effect of Flikr between the office and the images, as well as between the images and the browser (a bit like old flikering of 16-bit video games). It's not too bad, but it's a question. I tried to reset firefox and restart the computer. I have not tried a repair, and I haven't done an uninstall.

Hello, disable hardware acceleration in firefox should a restart of the application is taken into account. have you tried that too?

Please also see if there is an available update your graphics drivers ...

    Hi Goldie_,

I guess you don't watch this page when you closed Firefox last time. Also that you are not in private, correct navigation mode? Looks like it is maybe a problem with Firefox being able to save your file pref.js. You should try the steps listed in the preferences section that won't save trouble. Try and let me know how it goes.

This is a regression in FF9 +, see Bug 714115 and http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38 & t = 2393969. In any case, it works with Word 2010, but not Word 2003 or Word Viewer.

  • Why Firefox 18 behind a proxy server refuses all connections https?

I used to have Firefox 17 and everything worked ok but I just installed Firefox 18 in my environment of Windows XP sp3 and I can't connect to https through proxy of the company sites.
Company proxy requires LM/NTLM authentication, the proxy server is a machine IPCOP (squid proxy.)
After the update to Firefox 18, for all sites that uses an https connection, the answer is:
    The proxy server refuses connections

Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections.
Check the proxy settings to make sure that they are correct.
Contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is

I don't know if this is the problem, but it is something that must be correct establish a secure connection:

Open Date and time preferences system, Date & time tab. Make sure that it is set to automatically set the time.

Alternatively, make sure that your date/time is correctly set to the second.

Another thing to try is to restart your modem and router.
