System will not sleep.

Try to close and it turns off then turns to my password screen.  Tried a system restore and it says restore does not end. I get the old stuff, but still have the same problem.

    Hello

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

"How to activate Vista normally and by Activation of the phone '

Try to burn a CD. The system will not recognize the blank disc or let me burn... says there is no disc inserted

    Hello

Have you tried to close all programs and then insert the disc? Restart the 1st and then try it.

    If no joy:

Please make all below even if you have done some before as it is often the set of operations which solves
    the question.

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    Hope these helps.

    Hello SteveO_1968,

To run the Bootrec.exe tool, you must start Windows RE. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
    2. Press a key when you are prompted.
    3. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.
    4. Click repair your computer.
    5. Click the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
    6. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click command prompt.
    7. Type Bootrec.exe, and then press ENTER.

Note To start the computer from the Windows Vista DVD, the computer must be configured to start from the DVD drive. For more information on the configuration of the computer to start from the DVD drive, see the documentation provided with your computer or contact the computer manufacturer.

    Bootrec.exe options

The Bootrec.exe tool supports the following options. Use the option that suits your situation.

Note If rebuilding the BCD does not resolve the startup problem, you can export and delete the BCD, and then run this option again. In doing so, you ensure that the BCD is completely rebuilt. To do this, type the following commands at the command prompt Windows RE:

    • bcdedit/export C:\BCD_Backup
    • c:
    • Boot CD
    • BCD attrib s h - r
    • Ren c:\boot\bcd BCD.old
    • Bootrec /RebuildBcd

    / FixMbr

The /FixMbr option writes a MBR compatible Windows Vista on the system partition. This option does not overwrite the existing partition table. Use this option when you need to solve problems of corruption of MBR, or when you need to remove the non-standard code from the MBR.

    / FixBoot

The /FixBoot option writes a new boot sector on the system partition by using a boot sector that is compatible with Windows Vista. Use this option if one of the following conditions is met:

    • The boot sector has been replaced by a non-standard Windows Vista boot sector.
    • The boot sector is damaged.
    • An earlier Windows operating system has been installed after the installation of Windows Vista. In this scenario, the computer starts by using Windows NT Loader (NTLDR) instead of Windows Boot Manager (Bootmgr.exe).

    / ScanOs

The /ScanOs option scans all disks for installations that are compatible with Windows Vista. In addition, this option displays the entries that are currently not in the BCD store. Use this option when there are installations of Windows Vista which is not in the Boot Manager menu.

    / RebuildBcd

The /RebuildBcd option scans all disks for installations that are compatible with Windows Vista. In addition, this option allows you to select the facilities you want to add to the BCD store. Use this option when you need to completely rebuild the BCD.

My lenove h505s which is 3 months old has installed windows 8.  Everything has been fine up until about 2 weeks ago it started doing maintenance and this interview will not end.  This seems to be produced at the same time that the computer will not sleep.

The screen turns off after 10 minutes, but the computer does not turn off and should be 25 minutes.

I'm sure that the maintenance is now awake and even if you stop the interview, I don't know that because an interview is necessary, stop the sleep of PC.

  • ProBook 450 G0: 10 Windows will not sleep or Hibernate or start properly

    Hello!

    Hello!

Recently I did a clean install of windows 10 and I have a problem I forgot my past experience with this version of windows: my system is unable to go to sleep (or he can't wake mode 'sleep') or Hibernate.

Example of situation: I put the system to sleep, it shuts down (the power button blinks always - it's what he does when the laptop is in sleep mode) and when I press the power button (or click on my mouse) system does not. Either he starts as a fresh start (as no "sleep mode" has never been there) or the screen goes black, stay like that for a while and then stops (and, of course, when I open it again it is like a new beginning).
I never met such a problem on all other versions of windows. I did almost (if not all) of the suggestions and tutorials on the internet about it. The BIOS is up to date, so is my driver chipset with the rest of my drivers. Is it possible to fix this? It's the only thing that will make me return to windows 7.

    HP ProBook 450 G0 with:

    Intel Core i7-3632QM

    Graphics Intel HD 4000 / AMD Radeon HD 8600 / 8700M

    8 GB RAM

    SSD 240 GB KINGSTON SV300

PS: I found this link where I discovered that the decommissioning of the bios to an older version would work, but I can't find versions older for my laptop.

I have not upgraded to Windows 7 to 10. I did a clean install and I manually installed the drivers for the AMD and Intel video hardware.

I found how to solve this problem by making this upgrade of repair: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/wiki/insider_wintp-insider_install/how-to-perform-a-repair-upgrade-using-the-windows/35160fbe-9352-4e70-9887-f40096ec3085
Someone who has the same problem, I had perhaps try this method, as any other internet method did not work for me.

    Thanks anyway for your answer!

  • the system will not stop after the new update

FWIW, software Wacom has started to cause a problem with OSX 10.11.5. If you have installed you need to uninstall or check and see if the latest drivers Wacom released a few days ago helps. If you have any Wacom software, there are some others mentioned in the CSA programs that cause the same symptom. I don't remember which off the top of my head.

  • Satellite U400 won't turn on & when we will not sleep mode

I have a Satellite U400 and is a year and a few months.

In the last few it was in place, and it started when the computer goes to sleep and goes to the black white screen, it will not fall.
The only way to do anything is held in the power up to what it turns off and then back on. This brings me to the warning screen that I turned off my computer incorrectly. It was actions also for a few weeks and randomly started unexpectedly.

Then just today it does at all, I was pressing the power button and the key itself would be lit up and on the right side of the small lights would light up but don't turn on, I kept pressing it again and again and again and finally it turn on. Once on, I used only for a few minutes before turning off again and then do the same thing, I kept pressing the bottom until it works. Its been on now and has not extinguished again.

There not in the newspaper I had to reformat my computer because I forget my password and had put me out of the computer. About a week after that is when the problems started. I'm not all that clever computer, to be honest, I do not understand something of things, I can follow step by step to do something.

I really want to pay to have it fix I just want myself and as soon as its in great shape and never had any problems before.

Does anyone have any idea what this might be, or why it might be?

I think about reformatting again because I'm worried that didn't work right the 1st time or something.

Or if it's something that needs fixing someone have any idea on the cost of it?

    Thanks ^_^

    Hi aev270,
sounds like a serious problem for me.
Try the following: take out the battery, cd-rom, hard disk, and then try again.
If it starts without this items - you lucky!
This means that it is probably a software problem (but I think not - sorry)
you see the toshiba logo / messages from the bios? No - the you're in trouble.
This strange behavior may depend on many things: defektive components such as ram, grafics... nor (badest) motherboard...
If you have still warranty on this subject, you should go to a having servicepartner check installation.
