Since going to El Capitan, my Mac Mini makes me want to cry

Operating system: OS x El Capitan 10.11.3 (15 d 21)

Hardware: Mac mini (end of 2012), 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, Intel HD 4000 1536 MB graphics card

Experience: the worst!

Since El Capitan installation my Mac has become a nightmare. EACH click generates a spinning beachball. Adobe products are DRAGGING. I mean, come on-do-a-"sandwich" - slow to load. Connection to the Internet - WAIT.

And now, since installing the 10.11.3 patch, my mouse Logitech M570 clever is bug (even after installing the latest drivers!).

My daily work has slowed to a crawl, and I'm afraid to do on the computer every day. Back to Yosemite is out because there is no Time Machine backup.

Thank you, Apple!

It is not for lack of Apple.

Try these in order to test your system after each see if it is back to normal:

1. a. reset the PRAM and NVRAM on your Mac.

b. Macs with Intel processors: reset of the controller (SMC) system management

2. restart the computer in Safe Mode, and then restart again, normally. If this does not help, then:

HD recovery start: restart the computer and after the buzzer, press on and press and hold the

COMMAND and R keys until it appears the Utilities menu screen.

3 fix the hard disk and permissions: select startup drive in the Utilities menu utility. Fix the hard drive and the permissions as follows.

When the recovery menu appears, select disk utility and press the continue button. After loading disk utility select it

back from Macintosh HD entry of the list on the left.  Click first aid button in the toolbar. Wait for the operation

ends, then quit disk utility and back to the main menu.

4 reinstall OS X: restart from HD recovery Select reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, then click on the continue button.

Note : You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest to use Ethernet if possible because it's three times faster than wireless.

  • What Mac Mini for use with Adobe CC?

    Hello

I thought about getting a Mac Mini to use with a Wacom Cintiq Display(either 22HD or 27QHD) and I was wondering what would be best for the execution of the Adobe programs.

It seems that most of the people prefer the 2012 Mac mini with the quad core as opposed to the current gen using two hearts.

This brings me to two questions:

I see a huge difference between the quad core and dual core in the adobe programs?

8 GB RAM is enough or should I opt for 16 GB?

Otherwise, the mac mini may be a poor choice for what I would do, so any feedback is appreciated!

    Thank you!

What Adobe suggest to their CC minimum specifications in OS X, it

should not be necessary to buy a quad-core (they say that it would use all the cores).

A set of Photoshop CC system requirements suggest higher specs than one

If for some reason you happen across a 2012 end i7 2.3 or 2.6 GHz quad with

two 1 TB hard drives, they would be more easily upgraded to run an SSD and

keep a rotating disc; or install two SSDs. between that and 16 GB of RAM, these

should do a quick little computer. Rotational hard drives are the bottleneck.

But probably not necessary for Adobe photoshop CC. The graphics processor

is a limitation if you use intense graphic applications. GPU shares

standard memory with the system; From memory, there is little or no dedicated graphics.

    Although I have a Late 2012 Mac Mini i7 2.3 GHz quad-core (server) with double 1 TB

5400 RPM hard drive and RAM upgraded to 16 GB total rotation. It can

Use at least one drive upgraded to 7200 rpm or SSD drive more efficient.

The Mac Mini which is online store (check to see if there is an official refurb)

in the middle to upper technical version may be OK. The top level because of the upgrade

options in the configuration page (select to buy it, then see what options exist)

might be OK. The lower spec Mini doesn't seem to be viable for serious users.

New versions available now, because, you choose the configuration when

you order the computer: you buy an upgrade level you think you might need.

Memory is affixed, then exercise your ESP skills to look ahead, before buying.

The new Mac Mini 'top model' has better graphics than model end 2012.

An advantage for the Mini is you can choose monitors, peripherals, etc. An old

new stock Mini would have some OS X who was active as a base level.

Since none of these units have a system backup media. Is online recovery there.

My Mini comes with the Mavericks 10.9; 10.9.5 functioning properly. Partitioned,

the discs could dualboot mulitple systems and their applications more recent specifications.

(You can pay like nine awards for the end of 2012 Mini i7 quad, used clean-shaped).

I had considered to be a non - retina MacBook Pro 13 inch 2.5 GHz for once.

It was the time when they were more common in the 'special offers' Apple

refurb store page online at decent price; then buy RAM upgrade later.

In any case, this has become a long rant a few detours or details were

omitted for the sake of clear path back to the main topic. Since I was late

2012, mac Mini and it's more of the half upgraded for most all that he can do

I would probably say try a. If you can find a new one at a fair cost.

If the cost is too high, you can get a new Mac Mini to higher specification

the Apple Store. They are dual-core. Adobe applications do not seem to need

the advantage of the use of quad-core processors or. (these run virtual cores, too;)

so if you have the appropriate application, the quad core turn eight - virtual.)

The option AppleCare extended warranty covers to buy new equipment.

It would have supplied with El Capitan, if the current new stock. This fall, there may be macOS

Sierra - if you happen to get that stock again - at the end of the year. Not sure

If or when the hardware upgrade version configurations may appear.

Anyway, it's more a kind of letter. Sorry about that...!

  • Mac mini missing disk

My mac mini works well except the disk hard is not recognized in finder. It accepts a disc when I have a pop and whirs for a couple of goes away and then it spits out. The usual restart, unplug the power cord and resets for PVRAM SRC etc. is completed but still no disk drive. DVD player box open when a disc is inserted is very well. Open disk utility and first aid, supplemented by a check mark Green everything in order.

I am running OSx El Capitan, have Mac Mini mid-2010 with 2 GB of ram and 320 of storage.

  • 'New' Refurb Mac Mini froze within the 1st week - should I return?

We had our refurbished Mac Mini (8 GB, 1 TB) for less than a week, on the fifth day, he froze in the morning when my son tried to open a session (session was still active since the day before, but the Mac Mini was asleep).  The predefined cover for a long period of time, and although the mouse is moved, it did not react when you have clicked on anything whatsoever.  I had to finally press the power switch on the back, turn off the power.  There is not a lot of software installed on it yet, chrome, software the Microsoft Bluetooth mouse, keyboard of Logitech software and a few games of my son got out of the Apple App store (but did not play at the time).  I ran the diagnostic equipment, but it has not reported anything.

I'm new to Mac, so I'm wondering which, if it is a red flag, because it is a refurbished device and that I should just go back to the store and get a non renovated unit?

Download and run EtreCheck, created by one of his own assistants here in CSA. It is a diagnostic tool that is very useful for us to find problems. It will also give us additional specifications on your Mac. After his execution after the logfile here. It will never contain any personal information.

I upgraded to MacOS Sierra recently, since then, my Mac Mini must start 5 times before it actually starts.

It starts and restarts in the middle of the boot process, 4 times.

    Why?

I have experienced a similar curiosity, but often with messing around on a Linux partition. I do not have a definitive answer for you, but check on this thread (MacBook Pro will restart several times during the boot process) and maybe here further (oots http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/88213/how-to-find-cause-of-repeated-reb)

Assuming that you are in the USA (region 1), you will be asked to change the code of area on your disk before it will play. When you place a disc in region 1, you will be asked again to set the region code of the drive. You can do this five times. Wherever the road is located on the fifth change, where it will be permanently.

Since I downloaded El Capitan I get a notice of entry of device of 'Santa Barbara School District' saying that they can automatically configure my Mac!... I don't want that at all!... It appears every 30 minutes or so... El Capitan is safe?

The computer has a serial number which is included in a registration of devices belonging to an organization. If you do not belong to this organization and that you didn't acquire the device with him, then there was an error or the device (or the logic board) is stolen. If the unit was purchased used, for example on Ebay, or if the card has been replaced by an unauthorized service provider, then it is almost certainly stolen goods. Otherwise, you must take the device to an Apple Store or to an other authorized service provider to have serial number has changed. May asked you proof of ownership.
