Since Win 8.1 update by Satellite C855 2HW turns off

Greetings,

Well, June 2013 I bought my C855 2HW Satellite with 8 Windows as an operating system.
The laptop worked smoothly until December 2013, I got Windows updates 8.1.

Since then, every day (sometimes several times a day) the laptop turns off, the Windows automatic recovery feature is launched and the message "Windows could not be started as it should, a recovery of the system is necessary.".

I have this problem now for four weeks and every time I have to install software, because the system is set to an earlier recovery point.

I hope someone can help me get rid of this problem.
My sincere thanks in advance.

Stefan

Hello

It would be interesting to know how you installed / upgraded to Win 8.1 System.
Have you followed the instructions step by step from Toshiba for updating the 8.1 to win correctly?

I mean this statement:
http://www.Toshiba.EU/innovation/generic/windows8_1-upgrade-stepbystep/

I did it with my Toshiba laptop and I must say: no problems so far

In addition, do not forget to install/update drivers Win 8.1 provided by Toshiba
On the driver Toshiba UE (8.1 Win update) page, you will find the Setup instructions for pilots Win 8.1. It shows you the drivers and tools that need to be deleted, updated or installed again.

I'm sure that the laptop would be fine where the 8.1 Win update to operate properly.

To my knowledge there are no many options where the Hibernate mode can be configured.
You can set up sleep auto/upgrade the system hibernate mode in Power Options.

This feature automatically stops the system in sleep or Hibernate mode when there is no input or material of access for a specified period.

    HI Fanny,.

Any graphic activity will tend to make your laptop run more hot and therefore sufficient cooling.

Make sure that your airway through the CPU radiator is not clogged with dust and debris (a lot of discussions in this forum about this) and also ensure that there is sufficient air under your laptop knife get in the fan air vents.

    Hello

you are somewhat familiar with computers? If not, I suggest you bring your machine to a local service partner (http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?subs=tais)
If Yes, then firstly make a few hardwaretests. You can make them with tools like "Memtest86" for memory or "Prime95" for CPU and RAM.
This software is on a windows live cd for computer-maintenance as the UBCD4Win (Ultimate Boot CD for Windows) which contains a lot of useful tools and diagnostic programs.
    Here´s a link:
    www.UBCD4Win.com

    Other means can be:
Clean the CPU fan, try to remove the RAM (maybe), maybe the power adapter is defective or maybe the battery.
It s a little more difficult to find these things, but often it s really good to use this live-cd-system and check the system.

So, try it (or not :)) and give some information about what happened, maybe to give more detailed information about the behavior of the machine.)

    Welcome them

  • My Satellite L555-L11 turns off suddenly very

    Hello
My satellite L555 L11 turns off very suddenly. It seems that it s because of the heat, as when it arrives, I put my hand under the laptop and feel a too high temperature.
    my laptop is 5 years
    What should I do?
    thx for you answer

I think your laptop is quite full of dust and I can imagine that cooling rack is blocked so that your laptop is unable to catch his breath.

Believe me, that cleaning can help. Best thing you can do is professional cleaning. In this case the laptop must be disassembled. Otherwise, you can buy compressed air and try to clean it.

  • Satellite P840 screen turns off

The screen of my laptop turns off without warning when I browse the internet or interact with any program. When he arrives, the power button is still on and I could still hear the sounds of the programs that I used or the buttons on the front lock screen has produced.

Sometimes I get a BSOD. Also, before that happens often, I notice that my laptop freezes before he died. The only course of action open to me is to force my laptop shut down. However, I am worried if this would happen in a critical situation like an update.

Initially, I would say that it would be interesting to know what Satellite P do you have exactly and what operating system you use.
Problem described is quite strange, and it is not easy to understand what happens exactly and why.

Since when did you notice this?

I put t know what to do, but in my opinion you should backup all your data, reinstall the OS using HARD drive recovery option and after doing this, you will clean preinstalled OS and this shouldn't happen again. Of course, this is a more radical but certainly more effective method.

  • Front logo satellite X 200 turned off!

Hi... my bright logo of edge before Satellite X 200 just turned off and I looked everywhere, but I have no idea how to do to reactivate. Pls can you help me... Thank you

    Hello

How old is the machine? And since when the logo light up?

I think something with your hardware is not OK because this logo lights up at any time, and if it doesn't then you should find the nearest [Authorized Service Partner | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=EU&ID=ASP_SUPPORT] and bring your machine.

They will solve your problem. :)

  • Satellite A75 impromptu turning-off (Help!)

    Hello!
Well, I own a Toshiba Satellite A75-S2112 old of almost 4 months.
I bought in the States and moved to Germany, to go to College. So the thing is, my laptop started to turn self about 1 half a month... at this time, was not on a regular basis and well, I decided to ignore it, because it seems to have stopped once I turned off and leave my computer laptop "rest."

But since 2 days ago, the problem is really big. It will be just off; just like that. I thought it might be a horse of Troy, a virus or something, but it is even off the power during Windows startup - just by displaying the "Microsoft Windows XP" logo.

So, what guys do you think it could be? And can it be resolved? It will be as a replacement for laptop, or it'll just be fixed? If Yes, what should I do and where should I apply / send it in Germany?

I'm really worried, because I'm in a foreign country, and I don't know how to get it fixed here. And my laptop is essential during my course of study :(

I have the same time, I'll try to save all my info.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

    Best regards

    Alfonso

    Hi Pierre,.

After reading the description of your problem, my first thought is that your laptop is overheating. A thermal trigger will work if it detects that the CPU is not too hot. This will cause the cell to lose power instantly, i.e. no controlled stop.

I would recommend to clear any dust and accumulated debris from the heatsink to the CPU. Given that your unit is still under warranty, I will try to use a vacuum to suck up dust out through the suction fan grids. There are a lot of threads about this problem on this forum.

If this not solves your problem, do not try to disassemble the radiator yourself, as this would negate your warranty.

You can find your nearest Toshiba approved repairman since Toshiba Germany website:

    http://www.Toshiba.de/index.asp

Finally, make sure that your laptop is always placed so that sufficient air can get into the ventilation system. Indeed, don't put it on your lap or on a soft surface (carpet or upholstery).

    Good luck

  • Satellite M40x-250 turns off without warning

    HII everyone,

Hope you guys can help me. I have an old Toshiba Notebook (Satellite M40x-250).

I don't know how old exactly, but I think around 4 or 5 years. Ive never had any problem with it, but now its weird action. Recently, I was typing something and suddenly it just turned itself off.

I waited about five minutes before I restarted and it worked perfectly again.
Same thing just happened half an hour ago.

Now his works once again, with no loss of information.
My laptop is just getting old, or would be - this other problem that could be solved?

    Thank you!

    Hello

In my eyes it s typical overheating problem
As you say it s a laptop plus age (4 to 5 years) and I suppose that the cooling fans have not been cleaned since the first day
I think that there is a lot of dust and debris that prevents the cooling modules to work with maximum efficiency, this can lead to a higher temperature and shut downs.

The laptop turns off automatically to prevent the equipment from damage
Clean the fan using a jet of compressed air! In from time to time, and it helps!

  • Satellite A100 - monitor turns off after reboot

I try to put the connector again still.

Toshiba Satellite A100 (model PSAA8) chipset Intel

    Hey mate,

If you have the same problem on an external monitor I think that it s related to the motherboard or something else. He should t be a problem of the internal screen I think

It's really hard to say something about it, but you can try to update the display driver and BIOS. The two you can find on the Toshiba site.
    Check it!

In addition, it would be interesting to know what operating system you are using. Operating system preinstalled Toshiba?

  • Satellite A300-1GC - turn off when I play games

    Hello

I try to explain my problem (I'll try because English isn't my motherlanguage wull so hards to ensure that you understand me Hi!).
Usually I use my Satellite A300-1GC also for two or three days (I watch divx on tv and other small applications, but nothing special) and never happened to me that yesterday was happing!

I installed a game (Jekyll & Hyde) and I played it with the pc cable hook up to electricity. After a while (I think only an hour) the computer turns off! After that was not possibel to turn it on nothing! No light was on the same battery icon nothing complitely dead! After about 10 minutes instead of the icons light was on and so I was able to restart the computer. Windows XP doesn't give me any error on the "blackout" reports the system. I restarted the game and play with him for about two hours without any problem! If you have something (hihihihi) understud my question is:

Whay you do that I can do so that this accident will not happen more? Is there some test or newspaper or something similar I can read to see if there is any hardware/software problems? May need a BIOS update? I mean, is there anyone who have the same laptop and have similar experience and sort it out with an update?
On short time I'm planing to install windows 7 (two DVDs I received from Toshiba) but first I must address this problem.

I thank the of in advance for help
    Helen

PS: Once again at 11:36 the laptop shut down whenm I played :(

    Hi Helen_1,

Usually, if the laptop shuts down during a game, it s caused by a higher internal temperature to protect the equipment.

I put t know how long you already have Satellite A300, but usually the laptop must be cleaned every 3 months using a jet of compressed air. You will find here in the forum how an article on this subject:
[How to clean a Toshiba laptop cooling system? | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=40]

Also make sure that this new Toshiba Web site display driver is installed.

  • Satellite A60 is turned off by itself

    Hi all
I have a Toshiba Satellite A60, and she herself is turned off. I had this problem 2 years ago and had to change the hard drive with the disk driver, but was covered by my warranty. It has been resolved for 7 months, but back. Now the same problem is more frequent, especially in the last days.
Another thing, whenever I move it to another room (you have to walk on the stairs, so maybe something is moving, or as the other room is usually really hot), I have this problem more frequently.

I don't know that it's an overheating problem! Sometimes it's really hot.

I opened it to check if the fans (there are 2 large and the other small) are working well and they seem to be.
When we keep the keyboard not attached, it works perfectly for hours, however, as soon as I attach, it get overheated and shut down.

I'm running out of ideas and to consider difficulty will cost you a huge amount of money, and to be honest, I'm not sure that it be resolved.

In cars, there is a kind of thermometer, which could be the temperature. I was wondering it's the same in the laptop, if it is also in cars, according to the room temperature, and if it is what creates this problem.

Everything has any suspicion what should I do?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Since the opening of you´ve I guess that you didn t took a glance to the fat of cooling on the CPU. In your case, I would do the following:

Looking for someone who is very familiar with laptops or laptop technician. Ask him to replace the fat of cooling on your CPU and graphics card.
The problem should be solved by replacing this cooling fats and clean the fans of dust and debris.

The machine should be run after all the action without any problem.
