Single-user mode in comments

I installed Mac OS X Server 10.5 as a guest on the Fusion 2.0.5 and due to a problem of intellectual property, I need to change the/etc/hosts. See here:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1751241 & tstart = 0 & messageID = 9158804 . I finally got the prompt for single use (stupid decide to use the command-s to the application) and now when I boot in single-user, the cursor does not blink, and I can't enter all orders. The system will start normally and get stuck on the config on the server that is described in the thread to apple. My question is, is this a bug, the function or anomaly and how about him?

I had no problem with VMDKMounter mount a drive OS X Server 10.5 Machine virtual hard and make changes to the file system during the editing in this way under Fusion 2.0.4 however I never tried with 2.0.5 and now have more Fusion installed.  I had a later version of MacFUSE installed then what came with any version of Fusion 2.x so my thoughts are this... MacFUSE uninstall first and then uninstall/reinstall merge and note that this does not remove your Virtual Machines.  Or uninstall MacFUSE first and then install the latest stable version and then reinstall merger.

Take a look at: VMware Fusion (menu bar) > help > VMware Fusion help > install VMware Fusion > uninstall MacFUSE

Website of MacFUSE

Download MacFUSE - 2.0.3, 2.dmg

You could also try just uninstall/reinstall MacFUSE, but it takes so little time to do both I would like to just do both.  Also even if not asked I would restart the Mac after and before the merger.

  • Question about orders in single-user mode

Hi all, I am a super novice of mac system.

I searched the web and the apple community, and I have not found much information on how to use the single user mode.

All suggested link to read and learn about the single-user mode and terminal?

    What you trying to accomplish?

Single user mode is a shell capable of functioning when things on the hardware have problems.

It is not a fully functional shell, it is intended for solving problems.

  • How to disable the boot into single user mode SIP?

    Hi all

My MacBook Pro (bought in May 2011, out of warranty at this stage) is not able to start. I think that the graphics card is dead, I can boot into single user mode and run the Apple Hardware Test (no problem found). I found this acticle (https://people.cam.cornell.edu/~zc227/extras/early2011mbp_graphics.html), but I can't follow the steps to start the Mac to avoid the AMD card, such as the SIP is activated (cannot move road file extensions).

I can't boot into recovery mode, due to the inability to start the graphical mode. Any other way to disable SIP?

    Thanks in advance.

In the developers page: security configuration is stored in NVRAM, rather than in the file system itself. As a result, this configuration applies to all Mac OS X installations across the entire machine and persists through installations of OS X than Protection of the integrity of support system.

To enable or disable the Protection of the integrity of the system, you must start on recovery OS and run the csrutil(1) command from the Terminal.

    Integrity https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204899 Protection System

This command can be run without root privileges and will tell you whether or not the SIP is enabled.

to find out whether the SIP is enabled or disabled, run

    status of csrutil

    to disable SIP:

copy & paste the following and then press ENTER:

    csrutil disable

    To activate the SIP

    csrutil enable

After activation or deactivation of the Protection of the integrity of the system on a machine, a reboot is required.

  • Permission to change to single user mode / recovery

So I have a very very big problem.

In my MAC, I have only 18 MB, more free space on the disk.

But the problem now is that my MAC no longer starts, I think it's because of the little space remaining.

So now the i ' am trying to delete the files from the terminal in single-user mode.

And before I can delete some files, I must first change permissions.

I try to change the permissions with: chmod ugo + rwx *.

I'm doing this inside a folder of the game name League\ maximum\ Legends.app.

But then, I get the message: read-only file system.

Is there another way I can change the permission.

Or is there a way that I can be able to run as administrator of the single-user mode?

    Greetz Tom

Better, you start your computer from the recovery partition and deleting files in the Terminal there. The drives are already mounted in read/write mode. Be very careful.

Perhaps you are not familiar with the concept of multi version consistent reading.

No one can see that that is not validated and reading can never be blocked.

If you want a system where no one can see things kill their sessions and make a START RESTRICTING.

  • MacBook won't start or load in single user

Hello. I hope you can help

My sons MacBook primer is more. It happened a day after that that he has uploaded a large number of movies on iTunes.  Not sure if there is a connection.  It shows a gray bar after typing in his password - stop down after half of the bar is filled.

I tried everything I can find on the forums.

It does not start in safe mode

It will start in recovery mode.  Disk utility, says that everything is ok on the hard drive. However, it is also said that it is 100% full of 'other' files.

It does not start in single user mode - gives me the error:

Builduser error (): construction of a user of type 0 error x 20010008

    I have reset the NVRAM

FileVault is not enabled - at least the so-called recovery mode

    any other ideas?

You have another Mac, you can use or borrow? You could try booting the Macbook target disk mode and connect it to another Mac.

The hard drive should appear on the other Mac, and you can try to remove some of the films to get about 10 GB of free space on the disk. Then try to start it normally.

Share files between two computers with target - Apple Support disk mode

If you need to borrow one, try to see if the Macbook target disk mode - I don't see why he shouldn't, however.

I'm under Windows 7 Pro/64 bit VMWare Workstation 7.1.2 build 301548 host and guest Kubuntu 10.04 and need make it appear the prompt in single-user/recovery mode, like privileges of suite/etc have been changed so that I cannot sudo.  As a result, I can't edit /boot/grub/grub.cfg or files that are used in its construction, put on the kernel line alone or to get rid of the projection.   Press < esc >, F2, F10, space bar once zillion failed and splash of VMWare happens so fast that I can't see if it offers options, nor have I been able to find the text on this screen to search on the net.

My apologies in advance if it's there, but I've spent hours Googling and prick...

The definition of do the same thing over and over again expect a different result is insanity.

Seriously, good that start the virtual machine and click in the display when you see the BIOS of VMware screen then press and hold the SHIFT key and the Grub boot Menu should appear.

Also if you have the ISO Image, you can start directly from that, you don't need to burn it to optical to start the VM of the ISO Image.

  • Firefox crashes at startup for a single user, but not another

Crashes at startup for a single user, but not another. Both are directors.
I uninstalled and reinstalled. No change to each user.
Crashes in safe mode as well (hold down the SHIFT key)
No present addons in the other user.
    Ran Malwarebytes and cleaned
Ran CCCleaner and clean up all registry including uninstalled Firefox entries.

This is not useful if firefox crashes at startup. because you cannot start to create the new profile.

  • Explain "Single disk Mode" + added new drive?

I already read all other potentially relevant posts on this site * (at least, I think I have)

I have a NMH300 existing with a single WD 1 TB drive installed and configured for RAID Linear1.

My apologies for asking a question that may be an answer, but after a search on the forums for discussion and review all of the materials user guide I have a few basic questions.

Is it possible to operate in mode 'disk' with two drives installed? Seems like a stupid question, based on the evidence of the "single drive mode", but it was not clear to me. I would avoid Linear2 RAID b/c I don't want a single drive failure to the ruin of all data in both drives and I want the ability, so I don't want RAID1.

I think I understand that if I return to linear1 single drive mode and then all of the data are deleted. Fix?

It would really just be easier to add the 2nd drive and do run in linear2 and avoid all the hassle of a migration and re - build?

One last question. If I add the 2nd drive and configure it in linear2, the NMH is supposed to keep my existing data on the existing drive and just "add" ability. Fix? (I know that I should come back first, but just ask to make 100%, I understand the specific details)

    Thank you.

    /ctizzle

    Hi ctizzle,

So that all of these modes don't you will not confuse I recommend that you check this link. Since I have my music and videos backed up to another drive and I use my nmh primarily as a media server, I put mine up like linear2. If you decide to increase your total disk space by adding another hard drive and set up the linear nmh 2 mode as well then I suggest you take a look at this guide.

Also, choose your hard drives in the tested hardware list.

    I hope this helps!

  • 32AV933G: is it possible to access the image user mode play movies on USB

    Hello!

Recently, I bought a 32AV933G, based on the features and was very surprised by the good image quality.

My question: is it possible to access the image of the user mode when playing movies media player USB?
I can't get the preset Standard, mild, film... I can't even the Menu to adjust the settings.

I guess that's how TV has been designed. You can change this in the next Toshiba Firmware? Please, I beg you!
Also add some features before etc, Play/Pause, the remote control.
Perhaps using coloured Teletext keys. Just a suggestion.

If anyone can help with this, thank you!

    > My question: is it possible to access the image of the user mode when playing movies media player USB?

I didn t find all the details about this in the user manual.
So I guess that's not possible.
