Sites Web open automatically to the address bar.
When I choose a site to go to the drop down address bar menu, it does not automatically go to this site as it used to. I have to click on the little arrow to 'go to this address' or press ENTER.
As far as I'm aware, FF hasn't updated recently, and it just started doing this yesterday.
There are some extensions that have been known to cause this problem. Maybe an extension has been updated just before this problem for you.

whenever I have open a new tab, or open one of my favorites in an existing tab or new, after a second or two, the address bar is completely cleared, and even if I clicked on a new text box or you press the space bar to scroll, I believe that it would start typing in the address bar. It started just past today after I restarted my computer.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.
- Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
- Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe

When I open a new tab I see Google search smooth with large beautiful Firefox logo on the top center of research, and makes me automatically type in this research. Is there a way to automatically enter address bar when a new tab is opened? Just moved to Firefox and it's quite annoying.
Thanks to all the advice.
-KarlLooks like you have set browser.newtab.url to Subject: House which opens the default home page in each new tab. The simplest thing to do is to reset this preference so that instead of the new tab page:
- Type of topic: config in the address bar and press ENTER.
- To ignore the warning, press the big button "I'll be careful, I promise!
- In the search box, paste browser.newtab.url
- In the search results, click browser.newtab.url , and then choose reset.
Otherwise,.
- Custom installation tab.
- Open the modules (Ctrl + Shift + A Manager; Mac: Command + shift + A), then the Extensions category.
- Next to the new custom label, click on the Options button.
- The value of any page you want to open in each new tab (topic: newtab is the value default; about: home is the default home page) and make sure that "Focus in the URL bar" is not checked.

How can I change the order of the sites when you type in the address bar?
I used to type 'go' in the address bar if I want to go to google, so it automatically ends and I just click ENTER after 'go', but lately, one other site took place so when I click on enter I come to the wrong site. I didn't want this site more than google. How can I decide that there will be automatic? It's really annoying!
If AutoFill (browser.urlbar.autoFill = true) is enabled, then you can not get a drop-down list, but Firefox will AutoComplete entry automatically.

I don't know if I caused by pressing some sort of combination of shortcut keys, but I seriously doubt it. And now it happens every time, so I can go to websites via links or Google search.
Try Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there.
A way of solving problems, which disables most of the modules.
(If you use it, switch to the default theme).- You can open the Firefox 4, 5, 6, 7 SafeMode pressing the SHIFT key when you use the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
- Or use the Help menu option, click restart with the disabled... modules while Firefox is running.
Do not choose anything at the moment, just use 'continue in safe mode.
To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the shortcut of Firefox (without the Shift key) to open it again.
If it's good in Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one.

I can't remove a url from the address bar.
After completely clearing on my history, cache and cookies, a single Web site remains when I down the address bar. If I mouse over it and press DELETE, it will disappear until I re - click the arrow of the menu drop down and it shows up again. It does not appear when I put the address bar to display only the bookmarks in the menu options, but it is there when I put to only show that history. Also, if I click on the url, I am unable to bookmark this particular site by clicking on the star either using the bookmarks menu (not sure if this is related). Thanks for any help.

I just upgraded to FF4, and now the tab bar is just up the top of FF. In my previous version (3.6.something), it was above the web page area, below the address bar.
I can move it to the bottom? I find this disconcerting whether if far away pages that I consult.
Thank you

Select a Web site in the address bar doesn't automatically loads the page.
I've updated today (14/02/2012) v 10.0.1. Previously, when I used the 'arrow' in the address bar to select a Web site, the browser would automatically go to this site. This is no longer the case.
This problem may be caused by the AVG Safe Search extension
Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance/themes).
- Makes no changes on the start safe mode window.

Before I reset my Firefox I could any words in the address bar and Firefox would redirect me to the Web site. For example, typing ' reservoir dogs, imdb "would redirect to the film's IMDB page, and type a random sequence of characters would take me to (for example) a website of a company that uses these characters as an abbreviation of his name.
I never put this option anywhere, it was just like that for quite a long time. Now, this possibility came to me and I can't seem to fix it.
I use Mozilla Firefox 21 laters.

I don't know if they are technically pop-up windows (for example, if you perform a search on kayak.com, it will automatically open a new window of priceline.com with the search results), but that happens with Blocker on or off. Other examples are a little info to a financial site window or .edu, which opens a session is about to expire, or answer a FAQ (with the exception of the priceline example, these windows have an address bar or view a URL). In any case, once these windows are closed, if I try to open a new window, it will automatically load the content of this "pop-up". Whenever he does, I'm unable to type in the address bar or open a new tab in this window.
How can I fix it? What I want is to open a new window which is empty, not load the previous contents.
No, I just realized that I was holding Command-Shift-N rather than command-N

When you open a new tab and type the URL of a Web site and or the other, press ctrl + DELETE or even pick up in your history drop-down that appears as you type the web address. the address is placed in the address bar, but nothing happens. You must manually, press the small arrow at the end of the field address bar.

Can replace a Web site in the address bar in upper left, why not?
For Firefox, my default search is https://www.google.com. Which works very well. but now (in the last day or), in the address bar to upper left, if I try to insert another Web site instead of google (google 'cut' and insert by typing "espn" (for example), it can not connect. I can connect by typing in the google box, but I don't want to do that. What has changed to prohibit this? I tried to uninstall and reinstall Firefox and also tried the miracle solution.
Hi jwsloway, I do not know why this problem would have been before, unless you have changed to use a plugin of research who have searched http Google to one using the https Google Protocol, or you can stay connected to your Google account (Google redirect), or you are using an add-on that force HTTPS on popular sites when they are available.

WOT has disappeared. Donwloading / new installation appears to work but still WOT not in the list of modules. The icons of the web in the address bar are grayed out and "this website does not provide identity information" replaces the normal site identity information. Everything seems to be as usual.
I used the option rebuild in firefox to start safe mode again and as expected my addons went and now I installed WOT and adblock, others to follow. Thank you.
My copy of firefox is on this machine for a long time, while it was probably time to restart from scratch.

Very recently, my Firefox has changed. I used to be able to start typing, say, 'www.google.com' in my location toolbar window. This would provide a drop-down list of recent sites, and I just click the line "www.google.com". Firefox would immediately take me to this Web site with a single click.
But now if I click on the line 'www.google.com', it simply puts "www.google.com" in the location toolbar window, do not send me to google. I have to press the arrow to the right of the address bar to go to the page of google.
Thus, something changed last week - maybe a setting has updated? I looked at the options page and can't seem to find something that applies.
Hello
Please check if this happens in Safe Mode.
