Portege 3480CT CD Rom Drivers

I have a 3480 Portege I want to start DOS with support CD Rom in the oder to load a new operating system. I downloaded the disk support, but does not load the toscdrom driver and therefore MSCDEX fails. The CD player is 24xspeed attached via a PCMCIA card. The CD drive is Toshiba part No. 2793020 with card PCMCIA Tosihiba. Is there another driver should I use?

Have you tried to start while holding the key c with the cdrom drive connected to the machine? In this way the computer starts from the CD-ROM drive and you will be able to load the operating system.

See you soon

  • IBM travelstar external USB compatibility with Portege 3480CT

    Hello
I try to use an IBM & reg travelstar in a box external usb with my Portege 3480CT running Windows 2000 (with sp4). While the disc is recognized as plug-and-play on other computers running win2k and winXP, is not recognized on my Portege, which gives an error message suggests that the drivers are missing.

According to IBM/hitachi (which make the player), no drivers are needed and the drive should work as plug-and-play, recognized as a generic USB HDD. This happens all other computers I've tried.

Are their compatibility problems with this drive? Or are their special all the drivers necessary to recognize this configuration on the Portege?
    Thank you
    B

    Hello

AFAIK there is no driver required for external hard drives and they are recognized as plug-and-play. Your Portege is an old unit and there may be a problem with the USB ports. Have you checked the other USB devices?

It is also possible that there is not enough power, and in this case, it is recommended to connect the drive using USB hub with own power supply.

  • Cannot install W2K on Portege 3480CT

On eBay, I bought a Portege 3480CT use it as a good machine to create texts out of office. But now I can not install W2K on it.

    It has an external CD drive and does not install: w2k, Linux, W98 (original)... for my favorite W2K, it says: "could not find NTLDR" (w2k) and: "media entfernen - neustart: taste druecken;

There is no other boot device, no other disc in any location... the disc is my original one, the boot device is passed to 'boot from CD' - the system is used for W2K (there a sticker on the back, which gives me this information).

and now I'm at the point, I have no idea how to continue.

Is it possible to make it work again?
    Thanks in advance

    Hello

If a "NTLDR is missing" message that this indicates that the disk is not bootable.
Many times this is caused when the computer tries to boot from the CD-ROM or a diskette not bootable.
In this forum, many users wanted to install the W2K on this laptop.
First of all, you need a bootable disc.
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=7187&MessageID=24896

If you want to boot from the CD of Win98, you must first create a companion disk. See the page of the Toshiba driver for companion disk files.

I have a Toshiba Portege 3480CT with an external media Port Replicator. I recently loaded Windows XP but do not have the DVD player software. Can someone tell me how to find the appropriate download?

    Hello

You can use the playback software DVD evry you can find on the market. It should not be used Toshiba one (WinDVD if you think about this one).

Google a bit and you will find a large number of them. My favorite is the Power DVD Deluxe software. InterVideo WinDVD is a part of the recovery under Win XP OS image, but you can download it from the net http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/Product_Download.jsp?p=WinDVD

  • Compatible hard drives for Portege 3480CT

    Hello

I have a Portege 3480CT and I need to replace its 12 GB (IBM & reg Travelstar) drive hard internal since the former on a developed bad blocks. Now, I assumed that it would be relatively simple, but I was wrong.

In any case, I got a replacement 2.5 "HD (this time a Hitachi Travelstar, 20 GB drive), but I couldn't make it work. I ran the program from IBM/Hitachi diagnosis and while the old 12 GB HDD is detected and removed ok, the 20 GB does not even get detected (i.e., seems that nothing is on the line of the IDE).

It was suggested to me by IBM and Hitachi that there is a list of compatibility to their hard drives, and may not be supported (http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/compatibility.htm), but I could not find my disc on their list (model is HTS424020M9AT00). Basically, what I want to know is what drives * are * compatible or what my problem with the laptop is otherwise.

For more info, when I try to install Win2k, I get an ArcRead failure, probably because he thinks that the drive does not exist.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I guess that there is problem with drive HARD and false parameter who decide if the HARD drive is the master or slave.

In my opinion you should contact the Service partner to ask them which HDD is suitable for your device. You can also check on the net and picking up some information because there are a lot of different suppliers where you can buy the HARD drive. I also found information that it is possible to use the 40 GB HARD drive for your unit, but it must be built in by seller.

  • Im trying your doing a clean install of windows 7 and it says cd/dvd rom drivers are missing

Installation does not go as expected, ive installed 100's of times and now im getting cddvd rom drivers are missing and help guys

Your CD or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

    Fix for CD/DVD drive missing:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/982116

Go into the BIOS to start the computer and change the setting from IDE to AHCI. This allows Windows 7 to recognize the SATA CD or DVD ROM drive you dΘmarrez since and it should install.

This probably won't work if your CD/DVD-ROM is not a SATA drive.

Hello, I accidentally unistall my drivers cd/dvd rom. Peut help click my cd/dvd rom drivers.

You should not have to open your computer.

    Click Start, type: Device Manager

    Press enter on your keyboard

Click Find hardware changes on the toolbar

Your optical drives should be redétectés. Restart your computer and see if it shows up.

If this does not work, try the following suggestions by Rob Brown MS - MVP

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both

contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

  • Where can I find display for Portege 3480CT drivers?

My 3480 Portege CT has been charged with ME after problems with Windows XP. Now, I can't find the right drivers for the display which starts only in color 16 with an extremely small screene mode. I can't find any suitable driver for my laptop except a update of the BIOS on Toshibas home page. My laptop is old? I think its 5 years.

    Hello Conny

Win ME was never an operating system on this model. Try driver Win98 or Win2000. You may have to "force" the driver in the system.

  • PORTEGE R100 CD-ROM recovery problem

Hi, I had a few problems of recovery PORTEGE R100. My problem is that when I try to reinstall the system with the recovery of the boot disk CD, it does not recognize the CD. The CD-ROM is not a TOSHIBA product. Is there any solution for this?

    Hello

It will be interesting to know if your external CD is a USB or PCMCIA device.

You must make a Windows startup disk and add drivers for your CD-ROM BACK drive and then you should be able to recover the machine with this CD.

  • USB 3.0 issues with Portege Z830 & Renesas electronic drivers

    Hi all

I have a Toshiba Portege Z830. Until today I have use any pendrive USB 3.0 external. I bought a Kingston HyperX, but when I try to use it, the port recognizes the drive, but disappears in a few seconds...

Also when I use a port USB 2.0 back, it displays the unit, but it cannot read the contents of the USB drive.

I checked in internet forums, and I see similar cases, but not a clear solution...

    More information:

    1. the disc works if I restart windows on SafeMode (Windows 7-64 bit)
    2. the disc works on other computers (without electronic drivers Renesas).

I think it's a problem of Renesas electronic drivers, but I've updated, installed the modern version, power usb change, etc. but no solution...

This ultrabook is an expensive appliance, as well as the USB key, and of course, this should be a solution...

    Thank you for your help

    Hello

I downloaded the latest 2.1.28.0 USB 3.0 v driver available from the Toshiba UE driver page.
The fichiers.ini (64 bit driver) contains information that this USB 3.0 host controller driver is developed by Renesas Electronics Corporation.

I read a lot about the problems of USB 3.0 as part of different devices to USB 3.
The questions are not related to a specific manufacturer for laptop or device in most of the cases it s a compatibility issue between the two devices, I think that's most of the time impossible to test all USB 3.0 flash drives, HARD drive, etc. with different controllers USB 3.0 for compatibility problems always seems

I found a 3rd party page where you can find a few other drivers USB 3.0 of Renesas and NEC. But the use of these drivers is at your risk and perils do not know if they work properly.
    http://www.station-drivers.com/page/Renesas.htm

I think you might have to force windows to use the specified driver, then first choose "Browse my computer dethrone" and then "Let me pick from a list of device drivers...". ». This must be done in the Device Manager.

Would be interesting to know how it works
