Size of the application

Hello

This question is not the actual size, but the size of an application file.

From past experiences, I noticed that BlackBerry apps are usually around 500 KB to 1 MB in size. As a matter of design should we limit to file size. I know its always good practice to do so, but given that the PlayBook will be much more memory, it is ok for an application to spread 2 - 3 or even 5 MB range?

Thank you!

GP

Hey gpatton,

its seems perfectly fine for an application to be of this size. in fact I would not be surprised if they grow (e.g., games and graphics). to be more precise in the webcasts its been said that the apps will have a size limit of 64 MB. 3-5 MB is therefore well below that. hope that helps. Good luck!

  • Size of the application icon... Home screen will not use the right one. Help!

    I thought I could include different sizes of icons (ie. 48 x 48, 32 x 32, etc.) and the camera choose the size of the device or the theme-appropriate application icons. Of course, this isn't the case. So, how do you get the device to use the right size for the theme icon?

    For example, I have a Verizon 8330 (curve) and the theme of Verizon uses sizes 48 x 48 icons. If I use a size of 48 x 48 icon to my app, it looks great. However, if I change the theme of one of the standard BB Dimension themes, it will be small scale my icon 48 x 48, 32 x 32, which seems quite bad. Why does not he chooses the icon size 32 x 32 I understand? How can I provide both sizes and have it use the correct size according to the theme? It looks even worse when I use 32 x 32 and he then it extends to 48 x 48. Help!

    You'll have to do it by programming it your application startup.  You can use the following code to get the width and height of the icon:

    int height = net.rim.blackberry.api.homescreen.HomeScreen.getPreferredIconHeight();
    int width = net.rim.blackberry.api.homescreen.HomeScreen.getPreferredIconWidth();

    Then set the using the appropriate icon:

    net.rim.blackberry.api.homescreen.HomeScreen.updateIcon( icon );

    Best practice: design of icons and indicators for the BlackBerry 6 theme

    • Create icons that are compatible with the default icons in the size, the weight and balance.
    • Create 32-bit .png files.
    • In the toolbars and context menus, create icons with an average size of 33 by 33 pixels. These icons appear on a canvas 60-by-40 pixels and must have a negative space.
    • The application icons, create an icon file that does not exceed 68-by-68 pixels. This size includes the canvas. Keep the weight of the icons within a space of 49-by-49 pixels. Smaller items can extend beyond this size, but the icons should not exceed 55-by-55 pixels. If the icon specified in the Web exceeds this size, it could be scaled down and upset the thicknesses and the slopes.

    Select the owner, segment_type, sum (bytes) "bytes."
    from dba_segments
    Group by the owner, segment_type.

    OR

    SELECT SUM (BYTES) / 1024/1024 "MB" FROM DBA_SEGMENTS WHERE OWNER = "";

    OR

    Select dba_segments nom_segment, segment_type, bytes/1024/1024 MB

  • BlackBerry Smartphones have to find the size of the application of all applications. on my 8830

    I'm the person in a company that uses all the BB 8830 world edition phones bb. I have a user who pointed out that they lose emails and call. I had this person to fill all the normal functions to free its memory, including take the battery after you delete some media files, etc. and change some things (i.e. the theme). Now, the memory free is over 9000000B but he always loses its files and e-mails. I need to understand why he did this.

    Also, I would like to know if there is a way to let him display any size file to the app instead of having to go through each module manually.

    Hi jayp,.

    Sorry no.

    Each "Application" is in fact compised of lots of different modules.

    If you go to Options-> advanced - .the-> Modules, you can see the size of each module.

    But the question itself is actually a problem with the database on the devcie.

    Looks like you need to wipe and reactivate again.

    Hope that helps.

    You want to just increase the size of the font of a form or a report?

    If you just want to increase the font size of everything, you can add this to your Page header...

  • Check the application includes the last screws

    Hello again all you lovers forum useful!

    I need a way for an independent examiner check the LabVIEW application I built and archived in my source code control was built with all the latest versions of the VIs checked in control of source code for my project.

    Unfortunately, it seems that LabVIEW build the application with a slightly different size in KB on all the computers that we use to do, so much a MD5 checksum.  Some of the differences of meaning, as when someone uses a version of LabVIEW with another service pack installed, or even when it is built on a 64-bit vs computer a 32-bit computer (nevermind the fact that both are running the same 32-bit version of LabVIEW).  But we managed to get a setup where both computers are exactly the same on the two points above, and they always end with an application with a slightly different size.

    The goal, as mentioned above, is to make sure the archived application contains all the latest code.  We have been we resigned to simply check the size of the application as a "good enough" solution  Now, even that does not work.

    Is there a good way to perform this check I think not?

    Thank you for your time!

    -Joe

    P.S. I use LabVIEW 2011, service pack 1.

    For an exe, you can create a build log (and check it into source).  There is an option in the advanced build specification page.

    each vi Gets a line in the file like :

    C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2010\vi.lib\Analysis\baseanly.llb\Mean.vi  1/13/2011 8:01:42 PM    38

    Now you have all the info you need to check.

    Here again, this can make versions run slowly.

  • The application icon is too small on mobile

    I use Flash CS6 to publish an Android with the built-in Air SDK application.

    I first used the Air SDK 3.2, but when I ran the app on my phone Samsung Galaxy S4, I would get an immediate error "the application has stopped working".

    Based on suggestions from this forum, I used manage Air SDK using the Flash to upgrade the SDK of AIR 18.0.0.122Beta and the app went very well.

    However, now, I noticed that the icon of the application on the device is much too small.

    I went back and looked at the icon of the application which resulted in the publication Air 3.2 and it is the perfect size (but the application will not work).

    How can I get my icon of the current application to the correct size?

    SOLUTION FOUND!

    1. In your flash project, put up in the forms to publish.
    2. Under include files, add the icon of 96 x 96 and 144 x 144 icon.
    3. Close Publish dialog boxes.
    4. Manually edit the manifest file to add in the icons of 96 and 144
    5. Close the XML
    6. The descriptor XML file Goto properties - change read-only
    7. Return to Flash and file - publish
  • the application ability

    Hello

    I made an app with adobe dps application builder.

    What is the capacity of the app?

    Size of the application depends on the type of the iPad App usually Multi issue with kiosk Apps are anywhere around 4 to 5.5 MB in size.

    Built in the unique question Apps are obviosly largest size since the Folio resides inside the App and the size depends on the size of folio. When you use DPS to create Android applications, their size will always be less than 15-20 MB to respect the limit of reading Google.

    After downloading these Apps on several issues, Folios can be downloaded separately inside the app. Most editors try to maintain low Folio size and prefer to keep it less than 150-200 MB.

  • Assessment of the needs of the application

    Hello

    I'm new to the estimation of the size of the application needs. I'm looking to hosters APEX and wonder which of their service plans to choose and if a provider that uses 10g express will meet my needs. For example, I want to know if I pass a plan with 50MG of space oracle in a few months or a few years, and if I should start by a provider with edition complete 10 gr 2 rather than Express.

    I have a data capture application when the main table that will grow has 30 rows that will capture the text. There will be probably 1500 records created each week. I will need to keep 2 years of data available at all times.

    Any suggestions on how to estimate the amount of space db, I'll need in 6 months, 12 months, etc.? It is more difficult than the creation of the actual application.

    Thank you
    Matt

    Hmm,
    It seems not so hard once that break it down you.
    2 years of data = 2 * 52 weeks = 104 weeks of data
    1500 documents per week * 102 weeks = 153000 documents you will need to have given to any point in time

    Create your schema on its own tablespace and take note of its size. Then to adapt this code to your needs (add columns, change data types, etc.):

    DECLARE
      x VARCHAR2( 255 );
    BEGIN
      x := 'String that resembles you actual data';
      FOR i IN 1..153000 LOOP
        INSERT INTO T1 ( ID, COL1 ) VALUES ( i, x );
      END LOOP;
    END;

    Then, you'll have an estimate of the amount of space you need. You should, of course, account index.
    Furthermore, I believe that this code could REALLY use bind variables.
    Kind regards

    How to set the position and size of the façade using the FPRunTimePosRunCustom method in a c# application?

    I found a solution! -Set the size and position of the façade with the help of the

    File > VI properties > window running Position (in category list) > custom (in position of menu drop-down).

    then just accept the current position and size (leave the boxes checked) or set values you want directly (uncheck the boxes and fill in the numbers), or physically position and size the façade and use, the "set to current location" button and press "set size" current All that is easier for you.

    OK so it does not make use of the method VI Methods (Active X) FPRunTimePosRunCustom ([Position], [Size]) but if labview want to make him difficult to use then other means must be found.

  • Possible to customize 'Size of the Scan' fall into the HP scanning application?

    Hello community HP,.

    I use an OfficePro 8600.

    HP application scanning has a scan drop-down size that offers you a number of choices, but also a choice custom type dimensions customized to your paper/photograph.  I performed the task of digitization of photographs of family a lot of old of the life of my parents and grandparents.  It would be convenient that I could customize options in the menu size Scan drop-down on the HP scanning application to be sizes that I have to go quickly. Currently, I have to go several times in the custom element to type the dimensions directly when I come across a picture of a different size.

    Anyone know if this is possible?  I am comfortable working with the registry of Windows and system files, if necessary.  Thank you.

    Kind regards

    Sean

    Hello

    No - you can do this automatically UNLESS you can build a sensor to tell the size of the originals, BUT you can create the tamplates (called shortcuts) and save them. The next time you select a shortcut and it will scan you want, no need to enter again the options.  There are some pre-built in there, you can create more of your need.

    Kind regards.

  • Difficulty maintaining the application maximum window size.

    I close a window of the application to its maximum size, but when I restart this application it opens in a small window, I then need to maximize. How can I configure windows to reopen the (maximum) size, they were closed? Thanks for any help/tips you can offer me.

    Either to set the properties of the shortcut to open the program "Enlarged" or, extend the application windowed in question to as large as you want, and then close. A windowed application will reopen last windowed size, it's in before it closes.
