Size of the disk Dell R730 RAID5 and C for Windows OS

I bought Dell R730 server with 1.2 x 4 HDD to.

It comes with RAID 5 fault with two logical volumes, 1.8 & 1.3 to each. When I install Windows 2008 R2 operating system, I have two partitions C 1.9 TB with D = 1.6 TB

Why this raid is defined this way? Is it possible for me to destroy the default raid and set a new raid5 like 1.4 TB x 4 HARD drive as a single raid volume?

Hello

Yes, you can delete the virtual disks in the controller and create a large virtual drive. In the system configuration, make sure it is set to UEFI boot and not the BIOS boot mode. It is necessary to boot a plu virtual disk of 2 TB.

    Hey Amir,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community Forums and thanks for your post about it.

    Want to know where you can get the other start screen themes and background for Windows 8 outside the themes and background images already present images in Windows 8 by default.

    Let me inform you that we will not be able to add additional themes and backgrounds for the splash screen in Windows 8. However, it is possible for the desktop interface. If you want to add backgrounds and additional desktop themes, you can visit these links and then download your favorite themes and background images.

  • The file system on the disk structure is corrupted and unusable. ...

    Dell Optiplex 3010
    WD5000AAKX

    Windows 7 Pro SP1 64 bit

    This is the drive that contains the operating system and was just replaced on 23 July. I restored the disk backups using Acronis True Image 2014.

    From July 25, I started to see

    The file system on the disk structure is corrupted and unusable. Please run chkdsk on the volume of OS utility.

    in the system (Source Ntfs, event ID 55) event log.

    I ran a CHKDSK /R on the disk and it reported no problem with the drive.

    Except for the scary messages in the system event log, I see no problem, but I also don't see these errors on the other disk in the machine.

    [I forgot to mention that the drive passes diagnostics pre-boot]

    What happens here?

    I see nothing in the article in PC Magazine directly addressed the problem. You were talking about the complexity and the possibilities of seriously screw things with True global Image?

    In addition, the link to the Microsoft solution irritates me to 'we're sorry, the requested page is not found.

    However, I think I found the solution, and it is quite related software.

    After scouring the logs of system events and application, I realized that the error I've been see is still bracketed by the subsystem VSS starts and stops and was almost always related to a backup operation or a virus scan.

    Some research (Google search, in fact) have allowed me to suspect that successful shadows of the disc were somewhat corrupt, so I simply deleted them (vssadmin delete shadows / for = c: / all). Since then, there has been no error reported, new instant shade have been created, and everything else works OK.

  • Get the size of the disk of the virtual computer

    Hello!

    As I learned to extend a drive partition, I note that when you run the cmdlet, the total size of the disk is necessary.

    Is it possible to give only the difference between the actual size and the size future? IF I want to extend a 40 GB drive, I have to give, at the request of the cmdlet 45 GB info if I want to expand to 5 GB. Is there a way to only put the information in a way to hide the value 45 GB or 5 GB?

    I'll post more information later. pls ask if there is any doubt. TKS

    You can run the CMD of PowerCLI commands.

  • Size of the disk is impossible to pass

    Hello.

    I just upgraded to VMWare Fusion 4, and at the same time I found with a full disk in my Windows XP VM.

    The VM disk is 25 GB in size, when I try to increase the size of the disk in preferences, it only let me increase the size of a minimum of 232 GB (and up to 2 TB)

    Not sure if this is relevant, booking within the virtual machine image (Show package) glad there are 118 files hard, most of them are 32 KB in size, with s104 to s117 that are 2 GB.

    It is an ancient VM I had with me forever... I wonder how can I increase the size to say 30 GB, without having to waste 232 GB!

    Thank you

    JY

    This looks like a Boot Camp partition imported Virtual Machine and if it's take a look at my answer Re: counterintuitive VMWare Instructions on resize virtual disk.

    Anyway, you can use a third-party utility to expand drive C: in the unpartitioned space.

  • Increase the size of the disk in the guest OS

    I have a virtual machine that is only 10 GB in size of the disk.

    What is the best way to achieve this?

    I'm under vSphere... and I have more than 1 VM I want change, running win2k and win2k3

    I have a virtual machine that is only 10 GB in size of the disk.

    I allocated more space SAN to the VM, but I need allow the guests to see the extra space.

    I guess this means you increased the size of the virtual disk in the virtual machine settings.

    After having developed the virtual disk, the new size should be reflected in Windows Disk Manager.

    What is the best way to achieve this?

    To do this the same way as you would on a physical system. Depending on what partition you want to expand, you can use the integrated Windows "diskpart" or any other tool of the 3 - rd party like extpart, gparted, Partition Magic...

  • Size of the disk for guest Win Server 2008 R2 can be reduced?

    I have a thick provisioned 100GB size I want to reduce to 60 GB. The guest operating system is Windows Server 2008 R2. Does anyone have an experience by reducing the size of the disk with this guest operating system?

    I saw comments on the use of the converter to reduce the size of the disk, but the last Converter Standalone Client does not seem to support Windows Server 2008 R2.

    I tried to convert the virtual machine to a model and then to deploy a new virtual machine for the model too, but if I do that I'm still not able to change the size of the disk.

    The guest operating system is Windows Server 2008 R2. Does anyone have an experience by reducing the size of the disk with this guest operating system?

    VM converter can do.

  • reduce the size of the disk

    I have P2V one of the servers. The original size of the disk is 180 GB - vmdk. in Windows, there are 2 partitions. supposly delete one partition I can use converter to reduce the disk?

    any other tips?

    It is C: - drive OS...

    I use the conversion tool and change the settings to change the size of the disk. You can use the conversion on the already converted machine tool. The source and destination can be the same host but new name of the guest.

  • Help with report VM (name MemoryMB NumCPU, data store, total size of the disk)

    I currently have a script (listed below) to the CR of query for each virtual computer and their allocated disks. The problem with the script is that when he meets a VM with disks on several data only stores the first data store is listed in the report. However, the total size of the disk is correct.

    Any ideas to fix this?

    $datastoreExp = @{N = "Datastore"; E = {($_ | get-datastore | select-object-1 premier).} Name}}

    $diskSizeExp = @{N = "Total disk"; E = {($_ | get-harddisk | mesure-objet-propriété CapacityKB-somme).} Sum}}

    Get - vm | Select the name MemoryMB NUmCPU, $datastoreExp, $diskSizeExp | Sort - property datastore, "Total disc | Export-Csv C:\Scripts\Reports\chargeback.csv

    I thought that was what you wanted, judging by your examples.

    In any case, no problem, the following should do the trick.

    $dsRegEx = [regex]"\[(\w+)\]"
    $report = @()
    get-vm | % {
         $vm = $_
        $vm.HardDisks | %{
              $row = "" | Select Name,MemoryMB,NUmCPU, Datastore, "Total Disk (Gb)"
              $row.Name = $vm.Name
              $row.MemoryMb = $vm.MemoryMb
              $row.NumCpu = $vm.NumCpu
              $row.Datastore = $dsRegEx.Match($_.Filename).Groups[1].Value
              $row.{Total Disk (Gb)} = "{0:N}" -f ($_.CapacityKB / 1Mb)
              $report += $row
         }
    }
    $report | sort -property Name, datastore,"Total Disk" |Export-Csv "C:\chargeback.csv" -noTypeInformation

    Since there are sometimes problems with the display of the hooks I have attached the script.

  • Error 0 x 80070571: the disk structure is corrupted and unreadable

    I recently had an error message saying "error 0 x 80070571: the disk structure is corrupted and unreadable," in reference to C:. I tried chkdsk oh so many times. No change.

    Recently, I was able to access the C: files sporadically. Occasionally, sometimes not. However, I can access my files in safe mode.

    When I start in normal mode, the system is acting funny. I will try to describe. It starts very well, go anyway for the office and everything. Sometimes, I am able to use the laptop for a few minutes until everything freezes but the cursor; nothing else responds, even not ctrl + alt + delete. Other times, I'm still not that chance. You know how pointing the cursor on an icon temporarily highlights the icon? Highlight the thing is sometimes just to block the system. Once locked, all I can do is hold down the power button.

    I tried the system restore, but it never once helped me with the cause of the system error.

    I also deleted some programs out of the startup list. Not sure if this would have an effect.
    I am running Vista Home on a HP Pavilion dv5.

    Thanks for the reply.

    I tried all three methods.

    Methods 1 and 2 have helped for a while, but not long. Method 3 found nothing.

    The only solution I can think of is to backup my personal files, then do a system format. Before you do a format, is there anything else that you could recommend?

    Hi helzf,

    You can try to run a Checkdisk on drive E to fix disk errors that can cause this problem. You can make a backup of the data on this drive and try to run checkdisk.

    Check out the link:

    Check your hard drive for errors

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/check-your-hard-disk-for-errors

    Note: When you run the disk check, there are chances of losing data if you can take a backup before starting the checkdisk.

    Hope this information is useful.
