Satellite C850-B820 shuts off when I take off my power cable

Hello

I bought laptop Satellite C850-B820 2 months there is use to this normal subject, 2-3 hours a day, I was working on it without the power connected, the status of the battery was at 50% so I plugged in to recharge, suddenly power left and returned to 1 seconds, after a while, I took the power cable and suddenly he cut re plugged again and checked the status of the battery is completely charged 100%, someone has idea what wrong with it?

Maybe the disconnection of electricity makes the battery or motherboard?

> Shows 100% recharged, but the battery has no effect, if I unplug the cord cut.

In my opinion, there are two reasons why the unit stops when you unplug the AC adapter.

(1) battery failures and State of charge of the battery will not
(2) electronic power supply motherboard is faulty. These electronic controls of the computer mobile power

I think you should check if the new battery would help to solve your problem.
But you said that the laptop is not very old, around the age of 2 months and so the warranty should still be valid.

In this case, you should not attempt to resolve yourself but should contact the service in your country in order to verify the device. He should be permanently guaranteed covered

I bought satellite c850-b820 part No. PSKCEV-04P00FAR (without BONE) 3 months ago.
I installed 8 64-bit windows and installed the drivers from the Toshiba site.
    It works perfectly.

A week ago from the problems starts since I installed the update of the Bios via Toshiba service station.
First of all the wireless limited connection (unable to connect to the internet).
A day after the ethernet also limited connection (no internet connection)

Tests to diagnose and repair failed even re installing the drivers.
After formatting the computer and re install windows and drivers but without success.

Automatic diagnosis and repair does not solve the problem but the computer restart again and again. I thought that the problem of the OS, it is why I installed windows 7x64bit with its pilots.

It works since yesterday but wireless.
Mention that I tried F12 it means wireless works but actually does not work.

    Help, please

Now, you use the Win 7 64 bit. Right?
WiFi does not work but the WLan card is recognized in Device Manager?

Have you tried to install the WLan driver right?

I guess that the WLan card isn t working because the correct driver WLan isn't installed.
I think that the laptop supports the Realtek 802.11b/g/n Wlan / Bluetooth module drop-down list.

My M60 sometimes turns off immediately after unplugging the power supply (AC power or plug the laptop CC), instead of out on the battery even though the battery is fully charged.
The battery is OK & the laptop starts regularly on the battery after pressing the on switch.
The Toshiba Power Saver seems to work OK & I have the latest version of the BIOS.
I always save my work before unplugging, but again, I do not like this behavior & would appreciate some good advice.

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=19092
Satellite M55 turns off by unplugging the power cable to unplug my laptop making rather that to the battery, my laptop will often simply turn off even though the battery is fully charged. Other time things work as it should.

I had the motherboard replaced for another reason and was quite surprised to notice the problem after a replacement (but without reinstalling OS).
The main suspect is the TPS and its pilot; A few months ago, a new version is released the Toshiba support site for M60 (although file dates are not fresh, and I think that I have installed this version earlier).

So, I removed the GST and the GST pilot. I tried several times and it didn't happen again. Not even when I reinstalled the.

During the test, I have disabled the HD write cache to avoid file corruption problems (but this slows down HD operation, particularly of hibernation).
I don't know if it works because also earlier the computer would be closed only occasionally, not all the time. But this may be a clue in case you have this problem. If you do, please test and report the result, no matter what the result is.

What to say dude. The problem is that this problem occurs ONLY occasionally and so it's not easy to find the real reason for these cases.

However, I would try to give some useful advice, but first of all, it would be useful to know how old your battery.
Fact is that batteries old and stressed loose clean performance very quickly.
My battery is about 3 years and my laptop running on battery for 10-20 seconds even if it s fully charged. The performance is simple very low!

On the other hand the problem could be related to faulty electronic power to the Board of Directors
As you can see it's not easy to tell what's exactly wrong and as already suggested in other threads (locked), you should ask a technician for a control of the laptop.
The guy could run diagnostics tests and can locate the fault.

  • MS A30 - battery charging when I plug in the power cable

    Hello

I'm having some problems with (I think) on my A30 power management utility. When I am running on battery power and I plug in the power cable, the battery continues to discharge even if the laptop 'knows' that it runs on the power grid (ie the utility says "current generator: alternating current.") "Online, discharges: 82%. Strangely, if I put the laptop in mode 'sleep', then resume, she goes back to normal (i.e. working on current alternative, the battery charges).

It is true, I think that this began after I installed "PC Pitstop optimize Scan" www.pcpitstop.com (please, not conferences - I used a couple of their public services before and they were very good, so I thought it would be too much), so I guess it's some sort of configuration problem, but I have no idea where to go from here. I went through all the options on the power management utility, but they all look sensitive. Any ideas (other than do not install software stupid, doubtful)?

    Kenny

    Hi Kenny,

I experienced this behavior on my A30 where the system says it works on current alternative, but still drains the battery and stops eventually.

In my case the problem has proved to be a loose DC Jack that sometimes cuts off contact with the socket on the back of the laptop. This momentary loss of power DC seems to provoke the power management utility switch to battery power, even though the DC power is restored. The only way out of this situation is to Hibernate / restarting the laptop.

I think that it is a problem with the power supply subsystem in the laptop that does not react properly when it encounters a momentary loss of DC. Then the Toshiba power management utility is no longer responds correctly and switches to the battery power.

My only solution to this was to anchor the DC cable to the back of my A30 so that there is now no chance of the plug DC moving in its socket. This has proved to be very effective for my A30 and I've had no recurrence of the problem.

  • Satellite A50-109 shut down when the CPU has to work hard

My laptop off when I open the www with graphic flash or when the processor has to work hard. What's wrong?

    Hello

Looks a bit like an overheating problem. What do you think??
Have you checked the temperature with a tool of freeware as an Everest for example?

To my knowledge the laptop stops automatically if the temperature rises to a critical level to prevent material damage!

I think that the cooling modules don t runs properly and therefore the temperature doesn't fall.

Usually, fans can turn with a maximum yield due to dust and debris inside the laptop.
From time to time it s advisable to clean the fans with a spray of air compression. It can be everywhere for laptop and computer purchase.

You should also be able to clear any dust and debris using a normal vacuum.
Place it on the grids of aspiration air for a few seconds. But be careful.
A strong suction can damage fans.

If you have no experience, I recommend to contact a technician and would like to ask for help

    Good luck

  • Satellite C850-B735 starts automatically when view lid open on Win7

    Hello

    Recently I bought Toshiba c850-b735 - core i7 intel.
It was installed with Windows 8.
I installed Windows 7 from zero (new installation).
In power option, I put laptop to Hibernate when power press the button and sleep when the display lid close.

When I press the power button / stop, she hibernates. After closing cover of the display and then reopening, computer start / turns on automatically, which was not to be. I want to turn the laptop on when I press the power button, not on the lip of the open screen.

I already checked in the BIOS, the Panel - Open option is disabled.

I've seen the suggestion for windows 8, not for windows 7. He will deliver this material?

    Thank you.

I tested on my two laptops. A preinstalled with Win8 and other with Win7 64 bit. The same happen on two of them and the two begin when the cover is opened.

In my opinion it has nothing to do with the material. I put t know why do you think it may be a hardware problem. Let's see if anyone has idea how to change this.

  • Satellite P300 - randomly turns off the power when connected to the external monitor

    Hello

    I have a Satellite P300, Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 2.53 GHz, 4 GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650 512 MB, running Windows 7 ultimate x 64.

Recently, I bought an AOC v22 led screen and connect my conputer via HDMI. Everything works fine, but sometimes my computer off just randomly. I might have something to do with my computer overheating, so I clean the fan, but this was not good.

I think it has something to do with the LED screen because my computer was never off his own.

    Hello

So this also happens if you n t connect laptop to external display? So, you can determine what is causing this problem.

If the computer laptop doesn t turn off without external monitor, you should try to update the BIOS and the display driver. Two updates that you can find on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

You close the lid if you have connected the external monitor?
What operating system do you use?

In addition, it would be interesting to know how you clean the laptop. That's why I use the jet of compressed air that can blow the dust from the cooling fans and you don't have to disassemble the laptop.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A210 - 1 4 crashes when the disconnection of the power supply

Since installing Windows 7 on my laptop satellite A210 - 1 4, that I noticed that when I disconnect to change plug to the battery the computer freezes and must be hard reset.

This never happened with Vista, so I think it's something to do with Windows 7.

It is not a major problem, just a minor niggle I like sometimes to try to use the battery upward so that it works well.

Is this a known problem or is there some drivers that maybe I need to install?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi calebb11,

Have you installed all the drivers for your laptop after installing Windows 7 and you have yellow exclamation marks in Device Manager?

Are you using the original Toshiba AC/DC adapter and battery or some parts of 3rd party?

You can also try to update the BIOS. This can be downloaded on the official page of Toshiba.

It is not easy to say what's wrong there.

    Hello

I would say: try to recover the computer laptop back to factory settings.
Have you created a recovery media in the past?
If this is not the case, check if you can perform HARD drive recovery.

You use the original Toshiba AC adapter that came with this laptop?

I think that this problem occurs due to the problem of the motherboard and I imagine that there could be some electronic problem power if the AC isn't affected adapter.

I think it would be the worst case, because it means that your motherboard must be replaced to solve this problem... motherbaord replacement is very expensive and, probably, it is not worth to fix...

    Please advice

    # Some other face same problem brings advice?

I reinstalled the drivers card display also the problem remains same

    Hello

Have you tried an external monitor on the laptop?
If the external monitor works fine, it seems to be a problem of internal display and must be replaced.

You use the factory settings on your laptop computer or you have installed your own version of Windows? Before turning to an authorized service provider, you need to restore factory settings to determine if it s a hardware or software problem. With the factory settings, everything should work fine and if not, I think it s a hardware problem.

  • Satellite C850 - 13 c turns off after upgrade CPU

    Hello

I have a Satellite C850 - 13 c with the b820 cpu celeron. I bought a core i5 2450 m to upgrade, but after I installed the new processor, the laptop turns off each time after 30 minutes exactly.

The problem happens also in bios mode. In the first 30 minutes, the laptop works perfectly but it just closed down without warning.

Aparently others had the same problem with this laptop model, even with a core i3 cpu upgrade.

    I've tried so far things:

-Ventilation control system - everything ok, temp is not above 40 ° c
-Updated bios updated to the latest version
-People with mobility reduced all the main functions of the cpu in the bios
    -The battery bios reset
-Tried with AC adapter only, only battery, same result.

This model just don't treat a larger cpu?
    Please help :(

So generally the CPU upgrade is not possible with this show you are yourself and any exchange of material is at your own risk only.

Problem is that Toshiba doesn't any info says on the upgrade of CPU and functionality with different processors. Thanks to a specific design, there is danger of overheating.
In your case, it is interesting that laptop off after exactly after 30 min.

Unfortunately I can't help you with this, but this case is very interesting announcement I will continue to follow the discussion. Let's see what other people will write about it.
