Size of the partition on the AX150

I have two PE 2950 s connected to an AX150 with 4 TB installed by a consultant in hiding.

Servers have PowerPath running and can see the AX150 as/dev/sdb and/dev/sdc with available 4TB.

If I run fdisk - l, I see on each of the PowerPath devices:

Disk/dev/sdb: 4307,8 GB, 4307852197888 bytes

255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 523733 cylinders

Units - cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

Device boot start end blocks Id system

/ dev/sdb1 0 510 4096543 + 83 Linux

who says that/dev/sdb1 is only 2 GB.

However, the entire 4 TB was created as a single partition.  If I come home

# parted/dev/sdb

Using / dev/sdb

p (parted)

Disk geometry for/dev/sdb: 0.000 - Mo 4108288.000

Label type: msdos

Filesystem Type indicators minor start end

1 0,031 4000.561 primary ext3

(separated)

So what should we do to make the 4 to appear so that I can mount this?

  • How to change the size of the protection GPT Partition

I have a MacBook Pro (mid-2012) with 250 GB SSD. Next to OSX, I used BootCamp to install Windows 8 and then improved to 8.1 Windows and Windows 10. Everything worked well to 8.1 Windows but when I upgraded to Windows 10, she could not make backups of image. Support Microsoft informs me that it is because the size of protective Partition is too small and must be increased at least 300 MB to 200 MB to reach its current size. Here's my current disk configuration:

    View of MAC:

    #: NAME SIZE TYPE IDENTIFIER

    0: GUID_partition_scheme * GB 251,0 disk0

    1: disk0s1 EFI EFI 209.7 MB

    2: Apple_HFS Macintosh HD 100.0 GB disk0s2

    3: disk0s3 Apple_Boot Recovery 650.0 MB HD

    4: Microsoft database BOOTCAMP 150,0 GB disk0s4

    Windows display:

    1 - protection GPT partition Partition - 200 MB

Partition 2 - d: Partition first, HFS - 100 GB (this is where OS x is installed)

Partition 3 - primary partition - 620 MB (no idea what it is and how it got underway)

    4 - C: partition BootCamp - NTFS - 139,83 GB

The OSX partition has plenty of space available (61GB). My knowledge of Mac OS x is very limited. I don't want to do something that could make the system unbootable or require reinstallation of the operating system and its applications. How to resize this partition to provide a space for the GPT partition resizing?

Thank you for looking into this.

It seems that what Microsoft calls GPT partition protection is the EFI partition in OSX. Wonder why its size limits the ability of Windows 10 to backup image.

  • Increases the size of the "HDD Recovery" folder on the partition "D".

I am the owner of laptop Toshiba Satellite, recently, I noticed that my D: drive (unused) is saturated and after careful analysis I realized that the "HDDRecovery" file size is > 200 GB.

I don't want to remove the file or remove image files inside that I need the functionality of recovery, but I have not a clue how to handle the recovery process to decrease the volume.

Do you have an idea how this issue?

    Wojtek

    Hello

It seems strange to me that the size of the HDD recovery folder would increase up to 200 GB continuously. Probably for laptop computer stores files backup automatically in this folder, but I m not very well why

However, I recommend you to create a recovery media (recovery disk) using the Toshiba
Recovery media creator (this software pre-installed on the Toshiba laptop).

The use of disk recovery (or USB key recovery) would fix the laptop back to the factory and even if settings you should remove the folder in HARD drive recovery or the entire partition, this partition, and these files would be created again.

Hope that this information could be useful for you.

  • Satellite L300 - How can I change the size of the partition in Vista?

The hard drive on my L300D is roughly evenly distributed between Vista/C: and D:/data. Does anyone know if there is something in Vista that will allow me to change the sizes of the partitions?

    Thank you very much.

    Hello!

The partition size can be easily changed in Vista. Therefore, you can use the Vista disk management utility. On the Toshiba site I found this document:

I think that should answer your question. Isn t it then? ;)

  • How to change the size of the partition?

    Hi all

I just bought a 300 d-202 Satellite and announced with 160 GB of hard drive space. Imagine my surprise, then as the gutting of the PC and taking all the stuff from the free trial out of it to know that half of the hard drive are reserved for the Toshiba Recovery program in a partition called E. I understand that it may be useful to have the ability to save all of your 'hard' disc, but I, personally, feel blurred by the fact that I actually have only a 80 GB HDD. In particular, given the fact that 16 GB is taken up by my music and Vista takes a huge 15 / 16 gb more or almost.

So here's the question. How can I reduce the size of this partition (E) up to 20 GB or more and going to void my warranty?

    Thanks for any help.

The partition E (recovery of HARD drive partition) was created to provide an additional HARD drive recovery feature. After the recovery DVD has been created, you would be able to restore unity with the help of HARD drive recovery and DVD recovery.
So if you don t want to use HARD drive recovery option you could remove it from the HARD drive (delete the partition)

What operating system do you use on your laptop?
If you use Vista, this document could be useful for you:

This should normally does not affect the recovery of HARD drive but make sure to burn the disc of recovery if you didn t it yet.

If you have the recovery disk, you are on the safe side.

  • Satellite A300 1J1 - Recovery Mode "Expert" to change the size of the partition

I'm trying to reconfigure the size of the partition of windows with the recovery partitions as I don't like the idea of having the poit drive 50-50.

I would like therefore to reduce it so that only the data of recovery will be adapted on the D drive and my main partition will be much greater. IE C: = 240 GB + and the recovery drive (d) will be only 5 GB (large enough for recovering data only.)

I posted this thread here a few days ago.

This and the search of these forums has gotten me to the point where I think I need to use the DVD of recovery in "EXPERT" mode This should allow me to set the partitions manually rather than automatically right in the Middle!

I noticed that the screen asking me what to install has a SETTINGS option that is always grayed out.

Does anyone know how to open the SETTINGS screen, or if there is another way to create the partitions manually?

    Thanks for any response.

    Hello

I have already replied to the other thread (see the link in your message)

The point is that you cannot resize partitions using the Vista Toshiba Recovery DVD.

Mentioned Expert mode is not available in the Vista recovery DVDs.
The expert mode is part of the Win XP Recovery CD.

However, the fact is that the Vista recovery DVDs sets the laptop to factory settings and also the size of the partition.

The sizes of the partitions can be modified in the Vista Disk Manager!

  • Windows 7 smaller size of the boot camp partition

    Hello world

IM pretty new to mac and here next week, I want to buy the mbp 13 "retina 128 GB of storage. im a student of college and also the study, I might also want to play games and found that mac offer boot camp for w7. with my 128 GB of storage, which would be the smallest size of my partition w7, including some games total about 20 GB? 50 GB w7 partition would be enough?

    Thank you very much

    Hi Ashcroft:

This is a technical note on installing Windows 7 on Bootcamp. Install Windows 7 and previous versions on your Mac with Boot Camp - Apple Support

My personal opinion is that 128 GB is perhaps not large enough even without installing Windows 7.

The new Macbook Pro is not really scalable. Memory is soldered in and the PCIe SSDS are very expensive. Also if you open the back of your computer to upgrade the SSD, you could void your warranty.

If you read some posts there are a few from today on people who want to spend 500 GB SSD as they meed more space.

So I consider getting more than 128 GB.

    Just my opinion.

  • How to set the size of the partition you want on the Satellite C850-12D with W7 Pro?

    Hi all
I recently got a new laptop, Satellite Pro C850-12D with seven Pro: disk (500 GB) is first broken down like this:
    -a hidden little, 1.46 GB
-the folder C: one, Go 449,47 (visible by the user)
    -a hidden, 14.83 Gb

I would reduce the C: 100 GB partition in order to create a new one for the DATA.

So, I begin the process by using seven disk management tools, but the disposable size after reduction seems limited to a maximum of GB 226,685: C is greater than or equal to 233 570 GB.

I tried defragmenting C but its minimum size is 233 570 GB

Is there a method to overcome this limit and achivce my goal of 100 GB?

    Hello

I highly recommend creating a recovery disk before you change partitions on the HARD drive!
The Toshiba recovery media creator helps you create this disk and this are necessary in case something would be wrong with your HARD drive.

Back to the question of the partition:
You will need to use a 3rd third party tool like * Gparted * in order to change the size of the partition.

Well, the Qosmio Player is installed separately on a second partition.
I use a program 3rd party like Partition Magic 8 to create and manage partitions on the HARD disk.

You can try this software to increase the size of the partitions, but I don't know if the Qosmio Player will still work after the change of size m.

  • Change the size of the Partition of drive on rMBP OS El Capitan

    Hello

I have a rMBP with the latest OS and I have a 500 GB SSD. Currently I have 350 on my Mac and 150 GB on bootcamp. I have thought about this passage to 400 GB Mac and 100GB BC but avoided to do this because I've heard that I have to erase/reformat drive etc..

I noticed however that there is a Mac disk utility program and there was an option to increase the size and the way it is worded, suggests that I select the size I wanted and press APPLY. This seems far too easy!

I have attached a picture of the screen.

It of just a matter of changing the size and apply it or am I too optimistic?

    Thank you

It of just a matter of changing the size and apply it or am I too optimistic?

    You're being too optimistic.

Unfortunately, to resize the Bootcamp partition, you must use the Bootcamp Assistant, delete this partition and recreate it for the size you want. In addition, you don't want to add another partition (split your OS X partition) while you have a Bootcamp partition. The plan of partition somehow gets messed up and you may not be able to start again under Bootcamp.

To do what you want to do (OS X 400 score, 100 Bootcamp partition) you must:

    • Run the wizard Bootcamp and delete your current Bootcamp partition. That will give this free space in your OS X partition.
    • Run Bootcamp Assistant again and the size of this 100 GB partition and reinstall Windows. This will re-create your size of the Bootcamp partition and install Windows.
  • Pavilion G6: Size of the Recovery partition.

    Hello

I recently partitioned the main C: drive in two, provide a separate drive from the system and data.

Since I did it, I continually won warnings that I am running out of disk space on D:, the recovery partition - note, I didn't touch this partition at all!

The laptop is a G6 Pavilion, nuber product C1Y87EA #ABU.

The recovery disk is 20.1 GB with 32 MB free; I'm sure that's exactly what it has been for the past 2 years.

Can someone confirm the size of the recovery disk in case there is a problem with it.

'No space' warnings flash now upward at a rate of several times per hour.

If the size of the partition is OK, I can verify it? And someone has ideas how the stop messages!

    Any help, greatly appreciated.

  • Increase the size of the Partition

I am trying to increase the size of the partition of my C drive.

About 12 months ago someone partitioned my C drive, but the C drive is full and needs to be increased in size. I deleted drive D and it is shown as being unallocated.

I'm in Diskpart in command prompt, try to expand the size of drive C by typing expand size 22000 but will not accept numbers that I entered. Drive C is 15 GB and unallocated is 22.11 GB

Does anyone have an idea of what I might do wrong or have I missed something fundamental?

By using the diskpart utility requirements

    1. The volume should be the NTFS file system. If it is FAT or FAT32, you must convert it to NTFS.

    2. With respect to basic disks, unallocated space must be behind the need to extend partition.

    3. The extension supports simply volumes of data. It prohibits a system partition or starting of extended. This is the reason why the diskpart failed to extend the volume on my 2003 Server system partition.

    4. The partition where the system pagefile is stored isn't available to expand unless the file is moved to a partition that you do not want to extend.

Other: in regard to Windows 2000/xp, you cannot extend the volume simple dynamic disk that was created on a basic disk. The limitation has been cancelled in Windows Server 2003.

As mentioned above, there are so many limitations in the line utility diskpart command, you cannot extend a volume easily. So I recommend you to use a free partition manager - Partition Wizard.

    corruption of the file system?

In theory the maximum NTFS volume size is 4294967295 clusters, unlese you use disks GPT (which cannot use Windows XP 32-bit) you will hit the limitations of MBR (partition table) of 2 terabytes, until you hit the maximum NTFS volume size.  The MBR partition table to attack 4294967295 sectors effectively with disks being arranged in 512-byte sectors MBR disks are limited to a maximum size of 2 TB.

Why the hell would you want to use a non standard 2K cluster size?  I think that it is simply and just a bad idea and that you should allow the operating system to format the drive to use size by default NTFS clusters.
