slightly different question on the Terminal Services

Under Vista with SP2 from Vista, is the service Terminal Services are disabled by default?

Hello CompWorry,

I answered your other question.
But to answer this question, by default in Windows Vista, Termainl Services startup type must be set to manual.
There are no other services that depend on the Terminal Server Services to start.

Your startup type may have been changed by a tech, but I really would not be able to determine.
By default, services Terminal Server listens on port 3389. However, it can be changed through the registry to listen on a different port.

I hope this helps.

Sincerely,

Marilyn

  • Why the fast user switching and the new Windows Search use the Terminal Services?

Recently, I was struck by a piece of really bad, malicious malware that totally trashed my operating system.  Therefore, as I rebuild my system, I am applying the appropriate safety precautions.  Among the recommendations of Microsoft is to reduce your footprint of security by disabling unnecessary services.  One of these services that I thought I didn't need was Terminal Server services, since it is a way for a person to get to my machine remotely.

It turns out that, however, other services that I want to use, such as Fast user Switching and window new search utility, depend on the Terminal Server Services.  It makes no sense to me from a safety point of view.  This seems to be a bad design decision, because security trumps utility.

If Microsoft is listening, I would like to know why you made this decision and you have changed in Windows 7?

Second, is there a way to always have the Terminal services Server running and at the same time cut access remotely through this service?

I don't know about the 'new' Windows Search, but what about the fast user switching you ask to run several sessions of Windows when you switch between users (a session for each user connected) and the only way that Windows can do is to act as a quasi Terminal Server, it needs Terminal Server services to run multiple sessions.

  • VMware View may be a good alternative for the Terminal Services?

    Hello people,

We run the Terminal Services on Windows Server 2003 Ent. in a cluster environment. We have 4 TS who handle the load. Now, we are faced with a high volume of users within the company. We have a main office (Headquarters) and 10 more ease, all linking to the seat through the DRC. We are trying to find a better solution to deal with the high volume in a better way and we have VMware View.

Do you think that is a good alternative?

Any input, advice is really enjoying it.

    Thank you.

I think that Desktop Virtualization (side Datacenter) and Terminal Server virtualization (Citrix or TS/RDP) pro and cons.

You must deliver multiple environments or move the entire desktop to datacenter? Desktop virtualization could be better.

You must provide a single application (or a few)? TS or some sort of virtualization to applications (such as ThinApp) solution could be better.

Check out what you really need and how to access these services.

Also consider licensing and where you can save costs.

  • Are there versions slightly different sizes of the standard Multiplugin for Cs5?

A few days ago has posted a request for a list of the correct filters 64 bits for 64-bit photoshop Cs5 I had mixed a few filters with the standard. Noel had wanted to send me a list of filters for the 64 and 32-bit versions, so with the help of this list, I have carefully considered each filter keeping only those who was identical. It's simple, except in the case of the standard Multiplugin in which mine was very slightly larger than that of the list.

I wonder if there may be versions slightly different dimensions of the standard Multiplugin which are all for 64-bit photoshop Cs5 and if this plugin is only actually found in 64-bit programs, so it must be OK?

    Thank you very much!

The Photoshop dot releases have updated the standard multiplugin, and those who have different sizes.

    thank you!

    Hi k,

You only need the access management API if you are explicitly using the API Policy Manager (custom application), or for certain operations during some integrations (for example with Weblogic). Then, you can just assign it 'No' on all access servers and WebGates, or to 'Yes' If you think that you use.

  • The Terminal Services WMI provider DLL is missing

I have Windows POS 2009 ready installed.  The "WMIC SERVICE LIST" command fails with the absent error provider.  I checked the systems, and it seems that the "c:\windows\system32\tscfgwmi.dll" DLL is missing.  Anyone know how I get this installed on my system or what package installs this dll?

I see it on m another system, but I can't determine what package installs.  I have all the updates that are installed.

  • a few questions about the Push Service

    Hi all

Have some questions about a Service of BlackBerry Push.

    (1) when registering for the assessment, it is requested

Source IP address for shoot - what happens if I have a dynamic IP and I have two servers different one for development and one for the Production environment?

    1. Push is via the BIS-B connection only
    2. Register to access push Eval with RIM. Download the SDK, which includes a sample application for the client side and 3 examples of applications for the side server. Once RIM gives you access to Eval, you'll have an app ID, password and other details. Deploy the provided sample applications and enter your Eval details when prompted. The client-side sample must be deployed on a real device (i.e. not a simulator). There is a catch: many developers (including myself) have reported on this forum that their client-side sample is not able to receive push messages.
    3. I did not look to push on BES, sorry.

I am fairly new to push myself, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

  • The Terminal services Server popup closed at startup

After booting to the desktop, I get a popup saying services Terminal Server is not running. He reads an APPCRASH. I went to the services.msc and top one was auto and ongoing enforcement, the other 2 are manual and off... Always at every startup I get this warning. I have uac on and dep off following a conflict game.
    That's it, thank you

    Hi lobsta21,

If you need Services Terminal Server or to prevent a person from remote desktopping in your system, you can disable TS on your computer and which should get rid of the boot error message. Try this:

Go into the Control Panel - System - Remote Settings. Click the Remote tab, clear the check boxes.

Let us know how it works for you.

  • Small Question about the Framework Services folder

OK so I set it up and learn how to use CRMI to speak at the University Complutense of MADRID, I don't really need help in this regard.  My question is I am to read the documentation of records Services and read "FLD_CREATE_FOLDER" and has been in deficit.  A how can I find the GUID for the parent folder, and secondly I don't see a way to add the name of the new folder.  I'm a bit lost with this one hoping somone can point me in the right direction.

    Hello

To obtain the GUID for the parent folder, you can use either the service FLD_INFO with IsJava = 1 parameter or executing the query on table FolderMetaDefaults.

    1. service a part:

From the browser, use the following function call:

    http://ucmhostname:port/cs/idcplg? IdcService = FLD_INFO & path = / Folder1

Here the path refers to the hierarchical structure for the real one whereby we create a new.

For example: If Folder1 is created under the root, and unless we create a new subfolder then path = / Folder1

    If under Folder1, we subFolder1 then path = / Folder1/subFolder1.

Than under ResultSet "FolderInfo" look for fFolderGUID and use it as the value for fParentGUID

    Sample code: https://forums.oracle.com/thread/2554885

The code would be like this:

    dataBinder.putLocal ("IdcService", "FLD_CREATE_FOLDER");

    dataBinder.putLocal ("fParentGUID", "FLD_ROOT");

    dataBinder.putLocal ("fFolderName", "RIDCFF1");

Example above creates a new folder under the root itself.

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you

  • "Check video cable" message on HP 2311 x (different question than the original post from jca93)

    Hello

    The State monitoring displays:

    --

    STATUS MONITORING

    DVI: No Signal
    HDMI: No Signal
    VGA: assets

    Auto-Switch Source: Off

    By default the Source: VGA

    Recommended settings: 1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz

    --

I only have the VGA cables, so I don't use DVI or HDMI to connect the monitor to the computer. I was configuring the display on the screen (OSD) when I accidentally went in Source code control Options and change the video source to VGA to HDMI (or DVI, that it is placed directly above VGA).

By default, auto - switch should be on, but I turned it off a month before. Computer is not affected, control only. I tried Access Source Control Options, but the OSD appears.

My question is: is it possible to fix this error without buying the other 2 types of cables? Is it possible to open the OSD menu?

Help with an HP Expert or community will be much appreciated. If you give me more information, I'll be happy to comply.

    Please try to perform a hard reset on your monitor 2311 x;

    1. disconnect the power cord from the monitor.

    2. hold power for 30 seconds.

    3. reconnect the power cord pc.

This should clear up your video present source question and your question OSD back to factory settings.

    Please send Bravo

You have Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 2, then you have to do the updates after SP2.

You can save the service packs where you need them again for resettlement.

  • Terminal Services the differences between operating systems.

Can someone tell me the default performance options used with the Terminal Services on Windows XP vs on Win2K3?  When I use TSWeb to connect to a Windows XP computer, I see wallpaper and see the full window on the trail.  But when I connect to Win2K3 server, I don't see these things.  I tweaked the settings AdvancedSettings.PerformancFlags during the call to the ActiveX control and can 'disable' those things when you connect to the XP machine.  But I want to know what are the default indicators for Win2K3 to ensure I'm turning off what I should be.  In addition, what type of bitmap caching is done on Win2K3, or better yet, what is recommended for the best performance?

Sounds like a question you need to ask in the forum Services Terminal Server.  Try here:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/winserverTS/threads
