Slow bookmark manager

Hello. Is it just me or is the slow super Bookmark Manager on large projects?

It seems that every time I open Labview scans all files, search for comments

It takes between 15 to 20 seconds, every time I open it.

the project has 900 + screws

but only around 50 comments #, the largest part of the application is already done

Why not analyze the newly edited files only?

or even better, to keep an index.

Maybe I should try just to make my own...

under windows I have 7.9 disk of data and information on the performance of transfer rate (SSD) and 7.6 on the processor field (i7-3770 3.4 GHz)

So I excluded slow hardware.

Comments appreciated.

If you do not hesitate to share with the community.  Not only the support for customization of the tool bookmark manager, but real bookmarks are stored in plain text format in the file VI.  No need for LabVIEW, until you want to do something like open the VI where the tag.

Now that you mention adding the features you suggested with an index of files, maybe not that hard.  Perform an amount of control, or MD5 or something on file ever, and then if that does not help, there is no need to rescan that VI for bookmarks.

EDIT: Here's a few screws I wrote a while back on the VI file structure.  There is an example on how read bookmarks by looking at the files on the disk.

I want to clean my favorites that are a real mess and have been moved from one computer to another over the years. Then someone know how I can get all the bookmarks sorted showing? They are not in the unsorted bookmarks folder.

N the bookmarks manager that is labeled Menu bookmarks is itself a record. That opens on the right side of scroll down, who can then be bookmarks that you have not yet found.

If bookmarks are those on the bookmarks toolbar look in this folder.

In Firefox 4.0 and it is now "show all bookmarks" (item #7)
always in bookmarks (menu) with the same hotkey ("Ctrl + Shift + B")

Restore the missing shortcuts in the menus by using Windows 7 (approx. point #9)

You can make Firefox 6.0 look to Firefox 3.6. *, see numbered items 1-10 of the next topic difficulty Firefox 4.0 UI toolbar, problems (make Firefox 4.0 to 6.0, resemble 3.6). If you make changes, you must be aware of what has changed and what it takes to use changed or missing features.

  • Bookmark Manager - ignore certain directories / files / classes / libraries

Before raising this as an idea or to roll my own, I thought it was wise to check to see if it already exists.

I have a large application with bookmarks in all directions. When I load the Bookmark Manager (and when it updates periodically), she goes through all the screws in the project.

It's great, except that I have a special class that has a few members, including many reference certain DLLs. When the Bookmarks Manager search Favorites, there are a few screws that seem to fight to locate these DLLs. The loading window appears, with the intended path and the directory of current research. Curiously, despite the intended being correct path, LV seems to seek in the first directory of LV and waived, then, actually checks the projected track. A compilation of mass does not seem to prevent this research.

Some of these members pointed out in the diagrams of block with hashes in ("#1 exit, exit #2"etc.) which would never be favourites when they were written first - it would be nice never to have to see and avoid the five minutes of search for the dll that occurs.

It would be great if the Bookmark Manager allows you to exclude files or folders to search for bookmarks. Anyone know if this feature exists somewhere, or is - something I'm better to do myself?

    Hi thoult,.

This is an expected from the Bookmarks Manager, such behavior indicated in the section "unfinished management tasks in LabVIEW" in the following help file:

    http://zone.NI.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361K-01/lvupgrade/labview_features/

I am aware that you can change this. Please find below a similar idea in the exchange of ideas:

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/LabVIEW-idea-exchange/bookmark-manager-project-dependencies/Idi-p/2530246

The person who posted the above idea has continued to extend the Manager of bookmarks for their own use, see here. This might give you inspiration before "attacking yourself."

Please let me know if I can be of any other assistance :-)

  • Bookmark Manager crash

    Hello

I believe bookmarking was a great idea, but I was unable to use it in my current project.

My project is large and has been in development for LabVIEW 8.2, and I am now under 2014SP1 (I got the same problem with 2013). Whenever I run the Bookmarks Manager, its window opens, the search begins ("Populating lists... Please wait"), but he plants systematically, with LabVIEW, before showing results.

The info I get from LV Crash communicator are:

    Exception: Access violation (0xC0000005) PIE = 0x0131833A

    Version: 14.0.1 (32 bit)

    Possible cause: C:\Program Files (x 86) \National Instruments\LabVIEW 2014\resource\dialog\BookmarkManager\managers\Default\support\BMark_Get Bookmarks for VI.vi

If I run the bookmark manager in other projects, it works fine.

Everyone has met (and perhaps solved) the same?

    No idea how solve it?

    Thanks in advance.

If you have already sent in reports of incidents, it's probably good enough. I found a page of short help on the use of Manager of bookmarks with tips to avoid errors.

  • Very slow bookmarks after 48.0.2 updated to Firefox

Everything was until the terrible v48 update hunky dory. With no other changes to the system, bookmarks are now annoyingly slow to use. If I try to bookmark this page for example, FF thinking for 2 to 5 seconds before I can enter the tags. Having saved the bookmark, it freezes again 1-3 seconds before I can do anything else. It is a terrible downgrade.

There is absolutely no other changes to my configuration, with the exception of the update. I didn't change any preference, install an addon or similar. In any case, I conducted a test in safe mode and this makes the breaks even worse.

What else can I try? Your knowledge of FF would be greatly appreciated.
