slow downloads of windows

When windows downloads updates, I can barely use my computer, it takes forever to get something and sometimes it even closed its doors, I have windows vista and dial up to service which is all I can get where I live, is there a solution here? Thank you
Please notify me when someone answers, thank you

Hi wagsysmama,

As Amritha K said, you can't download Windows Vista using modem connection, because the connection is very slow. But you can try to download the standalone version of the Package on another computer with an internet connection ADSL and then burn to a DVD and try to install on your computer.

To download the standalone package please click the link below.

Thank you very much for answering I forgot the question was still open.

The problem has been resolved by the recent update for Thunderbird - download speed is now instant - and still is after upgrade to win 10. I can only assume that it was a problem with the previous version of Thunderbird.

  • My new HP Pavilion with windows 7, I bought recently is terribly slow download?

I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and bought a new HP Desktop Pavilion. It's terribly slow download.  So slow, the computer falls asleep before the download ends.  Windows 7 sucks. Is there a solution?

58elmer wrote: I tried to download "Speed test" yesterday and there never load.  My computer would go to sleep before downloaded it.  I have "Snipit", but need to learn how to use it.  Thanks for the info. Elmer

Hello 58elmer, you could try go to Control Panel Power Options, Information of Performance tools and select it in the top left of the screen, change when the computer sleeps. Put forever.

Then select choose when turn off the display. Indicate what ever.

Then to close these windows, and on the desktop, right-click on the desktop and a menu will appear which shows a screen saver. Click on the screen saver and select None.

All these parameters will keep your locking system and can allow you to run the speed test and also to use the tool captures Windows 7, which can be accessed at the beginning, all programs, accessories, Snipping Tool.

  • REPEAT THE DOWNLOAD VIA WINDOWS UPDATE

HI HI! Last week, I noticed that the Windows Update icon continues to show I have a new critical update to be installed. I'll go ahead and make this facility, it strengthens its registry backup and it will say it is successful and if you look in the history of successful downloads it will show there as well for all the times I've downloaded it, BUT when the PC is restarted, the icon will be back once again or sometimes in only a few minutes after that the first case was allegedly downloaded. Update is Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - December 2009 (KB890830. So far, I have 7 different instances of the same download the update history. I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate, Service Pack 2. I used malwarebytes and SUPERAntispyware to scan the PC and it found no infection. I have AVG Internet Security 9.0 as my anti-virus and firewall. BTW * I noticed my PC is much more slow and made windows Explorer freezes which prompted me to think about an infection, but nothing is found *.

A last round in my bag:

Uninstall AVG Free 9.0 & reboot. Now do a new installation of AVG Free 9.0, this time select the CUSTOM installation option and do NOT install (uncheck) Linkscanner Search-Shield, Active Surf-Shield, security or the email of crawl components toolbar.

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.

  • Slow download on a single computer

I have 3 laptops.  The first is a HP Pavilion since 2009. Secondly, one is a Toshiba satellite about 2 years. In third place is Lenovo around the age of 8 months.

HP has been upgraded to windows 7 and Toshiba comes with windows 7.

My internet package is 50 Mbps.  I currently get very close and sometimes more with the ch and pretty close with Lenovo. It's the Toshiba I constantly had problems with.  I check the speed with speedtest.net

The Toshiba constantly fluctuates between 3 and 22 Mbps. (22's on a good day) usually on average 11-17

My cable company has been here many times and they can't find anything wrong. They even replaced all the wires at home to see if that would help.  If I connect with ethernet then I get the speed I should get. But of course, I don't want to sit in this room connected to the router.

I tried and uninstalled the wireless card without noticing any difference.

I hope to find the answer from someone here. It's pretty frustrating when you try to stream movies that they retain the buffering and I am unable to watch a full.

I even had Geek Squad look at him and they have no idea why this is happening.

    Hello

Im getting a little frustrated here since I tried to install several times now. After you download the windows files, I'm invited to download the support software. When that ends the next thing appears.

I don't understand what it means by 'this' because I already downloaded it and I have no options other than to stop smoking.

You are supposed to install Windows. Downloaded files can be installed once Windows has been implemented.

  • Very slow download speeds

I just bought a macbook 12 "that I love. The only problem is I noticed very slow download speeds when downloading apps. I have also a 13 "macbook pro that I use on the same internet connection and downloads very quickly.  I have not tried to download any music or video yet, so I don't know if it's just a problem with applications, but it is ridiculously slow. It's a trait of these macbooks little, or something may be wrong?

If you bought the product in the United States directly from Apple (not a retailer), you have 14 days from the date of delivery where to Exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you purchased from a reseller, its return policy applies.

It started at least with v17 or before, and the upgrade to v18 does not change. Have dechecked 'remember to browse and download history', and even that does not work. A related issue is one that I really want to, which is apparently is more available in the latest versions of Firefox, is to have custom history that records the history research & shape (until deactivated manually), records the history (xx) days of navigation, but does NOT record all download history, especially in the downloads window. This used to be possible and works very well in previous versions. Now, it seems we cannot set the time to save browsing history (or not) and cannot be separated the download history of navigation history. It seems that "improvements" have in fact reduced the options available (Oh, how I miss FF 5-6!)
