Smartphones using blackBerry curve as a modem. What is the villain?

Need to be on the corporate network?

Current Vaca. Want to use with the laptop if possible

Since you're on VZW, the instructions for you to follow would be the entire CDMA. I can not you if you have a proper plan of the Association to allow this feature... try it and, if it does not, contact the ASBL and ask if your plan with them allows you to use your BB as modem for your PC captive. They can then tell you if you have the right plan and costs associated with the use of it.

  • Smartphones from blackBerry Curve 8530 has stopped responding during the wipe - I'm in trouble!

    Hey Gang,

I'm in a bit of a jam and I hope someone here can help. I searched the forum for an answer but couldn't locate one.

I have a Blackberry Curve 8530 and he knows some from time to time to gel.

    Model: BlackBerry Curve 8530

    Carrier: Koodo Mobile (Canada)

    Software version: Bundle 5.0 1108

I decided tonight to backup all my data and do a "Wipe of security" in the menu options.

I selected these two options, type "blackberry" and clicked on "wipe".

I currently have the popup on my screen that says:

    "Deleting information...".
WARNING: do not pull the battery until the erasure is complete. »

On top of this popup is the formidable clock Blackberry with him will hand turns around and around (like an hourglass would be on a PC when it is "thought").

It has been like this for nearly two hours now and seems to not react any longer.

    UPDATE:

OK... good news... of all kinds...

The phone has finally turned on and proceeded to go up through the deletion process and it now on the home screen.

Now, the only problem is that when I wiped it off, the programs that I had downloaded previously are still on the device so it didn't completely wipe it off as I intended.

I'll try another rag and hope for the best.

    See you soon!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones using my curve as a Modem...

Just, I got my curve about a week ago and was informed by the seller to alltel, I could download the software for my phone to use it as a modem, but now I can't get any support or help with this.  I am running Vista on my laptop and I need to do what I'll be traveling and going to college online.  Can someone tell me how do I contact someone or get some kind of help?  I would really appreciate it.  I'm about to throw the phone and cancel my travel plans.

I can't give you an answer regarding where the software can be found. But, as a student who travels all week and has taken an online course or two, I can offer the folling tips: using the BB as a modem will work, but it is generally as fast as a dial-up line. It's perhaps not fast enough for some online courses, especially those who have streaming video conferences, for example. In addition, do research for essays to these slow speeds can be painfully slow and tedious. Although it is not as convenient (and more expensive), I had much better luck looking for good quality WiFi hotspots to take care of my work in the classroom. The extra time spent to find one will be partially offset by the opportunity to spend less time in line with the much faster connection. But, everyone has different needs and what works for me may not be better for someone else. Good luck with your studies.

  • Smartphones from blackBerry Curve 9360 and USB connectivity in the form of media card

I was wondering if anyone knew the answer to this question.

When I first connect my BB for my laptop, I am presented with the possibility of using the media card on the phone as a USB device.

If I refuse this and leave the phone connected via USB, it is possible to use the storage media card later without having to disconnect and reconnect the device to get the command prompt?

    Thanks for your comments.

Hello and welcome to the community!

Sorry, no... Once you refuse, which remains in force for the duration of the session. So a new session needs to be generated, which requires the Quick disconnect/reconnect the USB cable.

    Good luck!

  • Music of blackBerry Smartphones with blackberry curve 8310

So I bought a used blackberry curve 8310 off ebay a few months but never changed any information that the previous owner had here other than my name and such. on the blackberry desktop manager, he still has his information, how can I update my phone to put music on it without losing all my contacts and information that I already put on here? If that makes sense

The SIM card is located under the battery, you will see a metal locking slider. The memory card is not the same as the SIM card. Make sure you align the contacts of the same side. Close the guide wire and reglissez in place.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones USE FOR CURVE 8520 WIFI

I recently bought a blackberry curve 8520 with Fido. My phone is connected to my wifi at home, but I want to assure you that I'm strictly using data NOT wifi (because I don't have a data plan). I noticed that in a network public wifi, a red asterisk * - appears on the WiFi icon in the upper right of the phone. Like this:

(the WiFi symbol is surrounded to demonstrate what I mean when I say WiFi symbol and the asterisk appeared like this)

However on my home network, if it says it is connected, the asterisk does not appear. As you can see it it says "Fido-peanut" (my router name) which means that Yes, I'm "connected..." BUT without the red asterisk on the wifi symbol (with my home WiFi) does that mean that I am not connected correctly?  I called Fido and the CSR said she thinks she has something to do with login password in public WiFi, but she's not sure.

The problem seems to be this: when I go on 'The Mobile Network Options' to activate ""data services ' OFF(to make sure that I am only using wifi and no data), the connection fails and I get this message: "

When I turn it on, I am able to connect.

    For ""connection preference ": "

what setting should I put if I don't want to use any WIFI data BUT?  Yes, the obvious answer would be to choose "WI - Fi" only, but this means that I won't be able to call/text because my mobile connection turns off.

So, how can I make sure I'm really only using wifi and not data when both the data service is turned ON and my wifi is 'connected '?

It is a list of what I've done:

    (1) the HOTSPOT USER - check.

    (2) insterted PIN provided by the phone to my dlink router (via online)

    (3) tried the push button configuration

    (4) restarted my router/modem

    5) there is a check mark next to the WiFi connection:

It would seem that I am connected to Wifi, but again, to reiterate, that I would like to ask if the WiFi is the ONLY thing I use and not data.

    Thank you!

It's pretty simple... IF you are connected to your network Mobile disabled (no phone calls or SMS) you will use ONLY WiFi. Only. As long as you have the 'white' dashboard and the name of the network "green peanut butter", you are connected to WiFi, but without BIS BlackBerry data services.

If you disable Data Services, you will not be able to use data in any form (via WiFi or Mobile network, if it is enabled.)

No BlackBerry data plan, you will be able to use the WiFi hotspot browser and some few third-party apps like Pandora radio.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones used BB Curve, how to remove the previous E-mail addys

Hello! I bought a used BB curve and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to remove the e-mail address of owners at the previous address. When I compose a message he asks me what email I want to send from and he has my address and 2 of the former owners of e-mail addresses. When I look in different folders there only my email address listed to delete or change. Any ideas?

To remove the previous owners email ID

    1. go to Options
    2. Advanced options
    3. Service books
    4. Highlight the E-mail ID that you want to remove
    5. Click on the Menu
    6. Select Remove

  • Smartphones from blackBerry Curve 9380 - gel/pause

I've had this phone for nearly 18 months without any problem, but last week I almost he threw out the window!

For starters, he did pause for a few seconds, making send SMS, e-mail etc very frustrating! You might be texting, and then it is paused on everything that touches your tent to support on, then will take between 5 and 20 seconds to come for herself. Sometimes when I unlock or just try to navigate the phone - its fustrating Yes aswell!

And then yesterday and today, the battery had drained by noon, although he had been accused of the overnight! I rebooted my phone at noon today, and its once again once drained (18:20)!

They relate, or if my phone died?

Hello and welcome to the community!

Please try this sequence... Note that, throughout the whole 4h15m process, your BB should stay connected to a good charger (not the USB PC):

    1. With battery, connect your BB to the wall charger
    2. Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the screen not
    3. Remove the battery
    4. Wait 15 minutes
    5. Insert the battery
    6. Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the screen not

This has been known to "revive" some BBs.

It is also possible that your battery or BB has encountered a problem... to test, this sequence is necessary:

    1. Get a known good and already fully charged battery... use it in your BB and see what happens
    2. Get access to a BB good and the same known... use your battery in there and see what happens

The results of this will show if your BB or your battery that has the problem.

You can also try to start safe mode:

    • KB17877 How to start a smartphone BlackBerry in Mode safe

It will take several attempts to get the combination of keys ESC (press/release/hold) OK, so be patient. When properly in Safe Mode, see what happens.

If the behavior continues, then well... think what happened just before this behavior started? A new application? An update? A theme? Something else? Think carefully that the slightest change can be causal... and try to undo all that was.

But if the behavior continues mode without failure, you may need to consider more drastic measures - WIPE, OS Reload, BBSAK Wipe/Reload and the process of reloading OS 'skeleton '. To prepare, you should be sure that you have a full backup of your PC... Please see the Backup link in my sig auto on this post for instructions.

    Hey.

After the update, it asked for a reboot so I clicked restart now. It has been restarted normally, and then it got stuck on the Welcome screen (the white screen where it says just BlackBerry® as well as the blackberry logo). I tried to reboot again, but it gets stuck on the same screen. I don't know what to do. I rebooted it several times but whenever he is stuck on the Welcome screen. I also tried to wait outside hoping he would come, but waited for half-anhur and it was still stuck.

    Could offer some advice please?

    Thank you.

Problem solved. Started in safe mode. delete the app have apparently he had some problems. In safe mode, delete the app and rebooted. It worked fine after that.

  • Update of Smartphones from blackBerry Curve 8310

Hello. I realize that there are a lot of topics explaining OE to upgrade these smartphones. However, none of them address the issue I am experiencing.

I'm trying to upgrade Blackberry Curve my wife v4.2.2.181 (Platform 2.5.0.35) to the latest OS (v4.5.0.302).

It's an O2 handset unlocked running on Vodafone UK.

I run the Desktop v6 software. It recognizes the phone without problem, but will not accept that there is an upgrade available.

I downloaded the new OS and deleted the file vendor.xml without success.

The opening of the list of applications in the desktop software, it shows only three applications: Bloss (Status: mandatory); Bloss One Click (Status: mandatory); and Google Sync (Status: installed).

    Screenshot:

I get the same list of apps in the app Loader program. I know that from my own phone (Curve 8320 which walking without probs) it should show the OS and various other softphone.

I would be grateful for any idea that anyone can give!

    Hello

I advice you jump in front of Desktop software (with the exception of the backup/restore). From a PC, you can install any bundle of BONES to a BB via this procedure:

Note that although written for "reload", it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or recharge - it depends on the OS package you download and install on your PC. You can even use a different OS package carriers simply insert, between steps 1 and 2, the deletion, on your PC, a file named PROVIDER. XML. remember that you remove, since any other devices OS BB as packages with more than one installed on the PC, your PC may result in conflicts with this procedure.

If you are on a MAC, you are limited to only your sanctioned carriers OS packages... but can still use any level they currently have to sanction. See this procedure:

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BlackBerry Curve 9320 phone charger exploded during the charge.

I put my BlackBerry Curve 9320 on charges this morning that the battery is running low. Plugged into a wall jack, and after 1 hour, the charger went pop! Fortunately, I was sitting next to and off the charger to the power outlet before unplugging. Used cable comes with the phone and is plugged into my laptop (I know very risky) and hey presto on the phone was OK, so was the USB cable so that the fault was the charger plug! Jack was OK as my other half is an electrician and he said that the outlet was OK also. I am waiting for a new charger be delivered by Royal mail while I'm typing this. A lot of people who have this phone have the same problem? I was just lucky that I was able to disconnect immediately without any damage to the phone thanks to God.

Yes, the tat is thought too. Generally use a surge protected socket but used a regular wall outlet this day there without thought. My husband is an electrician and was told that the used was ok, the USB cable was ok, but the damage has been done to the charger and saved the phone thank God! My other half, with my permission opened the charger and one of the items was burned and stank! Have since been replaced charger and had a free USB cable included in the package that I'll keep it as a spare.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones new BlackBerry Curve 8330 (Verizon) - upgrade of OS?

Hello, I use a Powerbook G4 and just bought a BlackBerry Curve from Verizon.

The OS that is installed on my BB is v4.3.0.127... should I be upgrade immediately to the latest OS (4.5 I think)? And if yes, where and how can I get a copy of the updated operating system, it is easy to upgrade to the latest version, and I need to know about making an upgrade?

Thank you for the direction - I'm new to the BB and can use any help/tips & tricks as possible.
