Soft pictures for Macbook

I just bought a Macbook for my thousands of pictures.

I don't want pictures to be the only photo editor and wanted to avoid duplication, I did some research and get still very confused.

.    I copied my pictures in a folder under office called myhometown

.    Photos - reference - general: I unchecked the box to copy items in the photo library.

.    Option start pictures and create the new library: myhometownphotos: import the photos in the folder above (myhometown) in this library.

.    Start with this photo library Photos has created.

I thought that this would avoid duplication of work, but it seems that, when I delete an image from the Photos app, the image is always in the main folder in office myhometown. Did I miss a step?  I'd appreciate any help that I have thousands of photos and cannot afford duplication and won't delete twice that it would fine cleaning of all defeat.

Is that how I should put in place?

Photos is the referencing of the photos in your folder "my hometown" and is not a duplicate in the library.  To do this, select a photo in Photos and use "file > see the file reference in the Finder.  If this command is available and shows the file in "myhometonefolder", you indeed have a referenced library and no duplicates in the Photos.

Because the made pictures refers only the photos outside the library, deleting does not remove the referenced image files. When you delete a photo in the Photos, it will just be deleted the thumbnails and previews he created, but the original file referenced will remain. You must remove it manually.

Reveal a picture in the front Finder that you remove Photos, so that you know which file to delete.

A referenced library requires a lot of extra work. There are easier ways to use your photos in external editors. Consider buying the extension of the AppStore "External editors" photo editing You can call many publishers directly from the control panel of the Photo, if this extension has been installed.

If you change this way, you can have a managed library and deleting photos, backup and restore will be easier.

    With the amount of information you provided that it is impossible to offer a solution.  We cannot see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and the configuration, i.e.:

    • What system version are you running?
    • What version of Photos do you use?
    • How have you tired to transfer, what methods?
    • who is the manufacture of phone?

    Have you tried the following:

    • Launch Photos manually once you connect your iPhone to the Mac.
    • Enter the ⌥⌘S tomato (command-option-S) key combination the sidebar visible.
    • Click on the camera in the sidebar when it appears.

    Your iPhone shows in iTunes or in the Image Capture?

    If iPhone doesn't appear at all, make sure it is properly loaded and unlocked, disconnecting, take a new photo, then reconnect it.

    • Start iTunes and confirm that you agree with the mac, the prompt on the iPhone.
    • Try a different USB port.
    • Try to force reboot the iPhone.

    Apple officially supports the 4 GB of RAM in this model, but it can handle up to 8 GB.

    The Snow Leopard is one of the more stable OS Ive ever used, but you won't have a lot of features.  Mavericks is in the Middle, has more features and is always quite stable. I would, however, try to reinstall El Capitan, or deleting some files to free up space.

    If Yes, have you ever tried to force reboot the phone by holding down the button sleep and home for 10 seconds, until the Apple logo comes back again?

    You won't lose data by doing this, but it can cure a few glitches.

    If still no luck, set it back to factory settings and restore from last backup:
