• DirecTV DVR not seeing internet via router TC

  I installed a modem Arris SB6183 on Comcast xfinity network.  The modem is turned on and connected to the network, xfinity without problem.  All my other devices connected to the TC and could see the internet without problem.  (Though, as I write this I realize that they were all apple devices.)  However my Directv DVR (HR44-500) did not see the internet via the wireless or ethernet cable.  My TC is a 3 TB A1470.  The installer has been in DHCP + NAT.  I also tried to give Directv a (local) fixed IP which address found DVR, but still couldn't find the internet.  When I plugged the DVR directly to the SB6183, without going through the TC, he saw the internet seems to indicate a problem of TC.

  After a few days of futile efforts, I have reconnected the router xfinity and replace the TC in Bridge mode.  Everything is working now and the DVR sees the internet, but I'm still pay Comcast 10 $par month to rent their modem.

  Does anyone else have this problem?

  You need to clarify a few things.

  I would expect questions for Internet access to the DVR by the TC without doing manual port forwarding. The DVR itself must be connected to the internet as long as you have the correct values for IP etc. Although I suspect that ipv6 might complicate the situation.

  If the DVR awaits UPNP router compatible... the TC is a failure. Apple is not compatible UPNP, adopting instead their own port open NAT - PMP protocol which is limited to most of the time the Apple products.

  To get out, you need to return to the configuration without your xfinitiy router... and give us a stack of screenshot... To see the complete configuration of the RECORDER and the TC... screenshots are the best way to do it.

  DNS, in particular, can be a problem... so make sure you use Google public DNS on the DVR and see if that helps.

  Any other suggestions we really need to see all your settings...

  Some screenshots of a working Mac or iPad would also show the configuration of a unit of work... rather than the DVR has failed.

• More than two devices to connect to the LAN ports and none can see Internet

  If I connect another router to my Netgear and use this another router by connecting four or five devices, all can see the internet and work very well. But if I remove this another router and connect these four devices to one of the ports on my Netgear modem/router, these devices each receive its own IP address (as expected), but NONE of THEM can access the internet.

  Everything works fine. Note, please, that the Netgear modem/router has always worked well - the problem was with the flaky DNS server addresses provided by Comcst.

• WUMC710 connected to the router, but can not see internet

  2 re your post last Sunday where reference you the site practically networked - I'm not sure of the spelling, but if you see "Internet gateway" in network connections, it's just your router via UPnP, Microsoft.

  If you have a compatible router UPnP - and most are these days - and you enable UPnP in router configuration (often) utility, and you have enabled UPnP user interface, you get the "Internet gateway" icon in network connections.  You can use the icon to configure the router without using the web interface of the router.

  I don't think I have UPnP enabled for this connection. I don't see the Internet gateway in network connections. only in the system tray.

  Even if you don't think you have UPnP turned on, you can be certain that it is not.  When Microsoft first introduced UPnP, several people a bit paranoid (including the FBI) said that it should be disabled on each machine.  Steve Gibson, which some might say takes such things a bit too strongly, apparently still accepts 10 years later, and has a simple utility to turn UPnP: http://www.grc.com/unpnp/unpnp.htm

  Check if task | Settings | General | Automatic download options has both the 'recycled CD album art... of the internet' and 'download automatically... '. "options checked? If both are checked, then click the 'Download now' and if you are prompted, walk through the internet connection wizard, then click again on the button 'Download now'.
  If you get the notification that the download was successful, then return to the start menu and you should see internet TV and Netflix.

  If you're still having problems, then I suggest that you post at www.thegreenbutton.com \forums. It is a Microsoft Website and only deal with themes Windows Media Center.
  They would be better placed to help with your problem.
