Some dba and the associated operating system confusion

Hi all

I have some doubts related to the database and from the perspective of the OS. Could pelase let someone delete my those doubts and clarify below questions:

Qus1: Can we have two with the same default port number 1521 listener.ora file?

Qus2: Why create two groups 'dba' and 'oinstall' during the installation of oracle database?

Qus3: If my database is using newspaper archive and in case the archiver process is killed and then redo will be archived or not otherwise what will happen?

Qus4: If I have the catalogue for RMAN metadata database. And in the case of catalogue database broke down. I will be able to use RMAN backupsets to restore the database?

Qus5: What is needed to run the script "some_path/root.sh" during the installation of the oracle at the last step database?

Qus6: How can we know what are the database running in my server level operating system itself means if no database is down or crashed, can we get to know on these data base level operating system itself? If Yes, then please specify the command?

Qus7: How can configure us UDP protocol for my interlocutor?

Qus: If I update a table and query update happens. Between the two OS gets stop then when he is back my transaction will be rolledback. Please let me know how TI happenes means is there any process to do this or something else?

Please clarify the issues above.

Kind regards

Michel

Michel, you must work on your technique of learning. In the Oracle environment, "If in doubt - try it". This applies to three of your questions:

1. try to start two listeners, listening on the port and the same address. Then, try different addresses.

3 kill the archiver process. You'll see the result soon enough.

4. yet once, test it.

You have also some questions of documentation:

2. There is a chapter on this in the installation guide, but I guess that's a little vague on the 'why '. You need to think about the situation where you have multiple databases on a machine with different databases, and you should restrict DBA access to their own DB only.

7. the Net Services Administrator's guide describes the configuration of the supported protocols.

8. the Guide of Concepts a chapter describing the background process that will be answered.

That leaves two:

5. I don't understand what you're asking.

6. If I understand correctly it is y no definitive answer on Unix, if you can deduce by looking at files such as oratab or the contents of your directories of dbs. Under Windows, look at the Windows services

  • VMPlayer newbie - switch back and forth between the host and the guest operating system

I am newbie to VMPlayer. I just installed VMPlayer 3.0.0 build-203739 on Red Hat Linux 5 (host). Then I created a VM comments Kubuntu (8.10). So far so good. In the VMPlayer window, I selected 'play Virtual Machine '. After this, the host operating system controls disappeared and I could see a taskbar on the top of my screen and I could also see Kubuntu startup (in an area of the small window in the center of the screen). The problem I'm running is that I'm not able to navigate outside of this area of the small window. I'm not even able to click/Select the taskbar of VMPlayer top of the screen. The mouse movement is limited to the area of the small window. How to and fro my host and the guest operating system? Is there a key combination? I finally had to stop my VM guest to return to the control of my host system. I guess it's a problem quite newbie that I am running. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello, welcome to the forum

Host Windows to switch between comments and the OS (when you are in the guest operating system), you must use ctrl + alt.

According to this link , it's the same thing in Linux host too.

    >Default VMware Player uses key combination Ctrl + Alt to jump out of the guest. Then CTRLAltdel is accessible via theAltInsert command. If you find this annoying, you can change the jump shortcut to CtrlAltshift by adding the following lines to your ~/.vmware/preferences:

    > pref.hotkey.shift = "true".

    > pref.hotkey.control = "true".

    > pref.hotkey.alt = "true".

After your installation OS in the virtual machine, install "VMware Tools" on it so you will get better performance and some improvements (like moving your mouse out of guest to your host operating system operating system and Vice Versa, or be able to copy beyond host/guest, better resolution on reviews and...)

I hope it helps a bit.

  • Want to download 10 W but not able to do that, during installation, a problem arises and the previous operating system is restored.

My laptop is preinstalled with Windows 7 Home Basic.  At the free launch Windows 10 I downloaded the same and after 2 months, the hard drive crashed.  The repair shop trying to fix formatting, but could not revive.  This is why I bought a new hard drive and repair charge shot Windows 7 Ultimate edition.

Now, I want to download 10 W but not able to do that, during installation, a problem arises and the previous operating system has been restored.  When I posted the question about how to solve this problem, I was told to try the download by way of USB/ISO file.

    Now my question is that

one) can I reload Windows 7 Home basic as I have the product key?

    (b) I can then download Windows 10 according to the normal procedure?

I'm not tech savvy, afraid to download files in USB and then load into the laptop, so this question.

You can directly download Windows 10. Windows 7 complete edition currently installed is not genuine.

When you upgraded from a previous version of Windows, what happened is that (your PC) hardware will get a digital right, a unique signature of the computer which is stored on the Microsoft Activation servers. The real Windows 7 or Windows 8 license you were using previously will be exchanged with a key to the diagnosis.

Whenever you need to reinstall Windows 10 on this machine, go just to reinstall Windows 10. It automatically reactivates.

Therefore, there is no need to know or get a product key, if you must reinstall Windows 10, you can use your Windows 7 or Windows 8 product key or use the reset function in Windows 10.

  • I would like to install Windows XP on my computer and get rid of the Vista operating system. Can I do this? I only have 512 MB of Ram and 32-bit processor.

    Windows XP instead of Vista.

I would like to install Windows XP on my computer and get rid of the Vista operating system.  Can I do this?  I only have 512 MB of Ram and 32-bit processor.

    Hello

There are a few things that you would have to do to install XP instead of Vista:

    1. contact the manufacturer of your computer and see if the XP drivers are available for your computer model to make sure that XP has worked properly in this regard.

    2. If the XP Drivers are available, buy a XP disk operating system / license. Try local computer repair shops because Microsoft sells more than XP and online sale buy you pirated copies can cause. Be very careful.

3 XP runs with 512 MB of RAM, although a little slow by today's standards.

    4. do a clean install of XP. Make sure that all your data is backed up as the hard will be cleaned of everything during the Installation of XP.

  • This disc contains a "UDF" file system and requires an operating system that supports the ISO-13346 "UDF" file system specification.

I've seen other posts on this topic. Nothing seems to work, so I thought I would explain my situation.

The machine is new. Win7 64 bit company. The problem I see is that I try to load some versions of Visual Studio on the new machine. However, none of the discs auto-run using my local internal DVD drive. They all have a Readme file with the message "this disc contains a"UDF"file system and requires an operating system that supports the ISO-13346"UDF"file system specification."

I know that the discs are good, I used the on my old machine, and I can always use them on other machines I tested.

The real kicker here is that I can plug an external USB DVD drive... and then the local drive starts to read the installation discs! It's like making this action allows something else in the machine.

Also, I even restarted the machine mode of diagnosis (without external DVD drive attached)... and restart, the drive would read the installation discs. BUT when I do a full stop and then turn on the machine upward, the local drive gives me the same readme file. Again, it is as if something gets activated, and then reset to a complete stop.

I am at a loss of what to check then. Real head-scratcher, because I know the drive works and the machine can recognize the drive and even read installation discs.

I do not have the applications installed on the machine of DVD burning, so I don't think there is a conflict.

    Any suggestions are welcome.

    Thanks in advance!

  • How can I download and install the latest version of Safari without having to install the current operating system?

I just bought a MBP of 2013 (MacBookPro) renovated with OSX 10.9 (Mavericks) and want to update my Safari (version 7.0.5) the latest version of Safari. I tried to download Safari from Apple's site, but he said that I would also install the current OSX (10.11 El Capitan) as well. I want my MBP to stay on OSX 10.9 (because it is the last operating system that supports Adobe Creative Suite CS6).

Can someone advise me on where I can download ONLY the last Safari?

    Thank you

    Steve

You cannot run the last Safari on Mac OS 10.9.

It requires the latest Mac OS (10.11)

You can create a new partition and install the latest OS above and use it.

Then the Mavericks partition boot when you want to use Adobe Creative Suite.

    HY,

If I partition my hard drive and I install a new OS (E.g. Ubuntu 14.04) my warranty ends?

    SA

    Hello

No, it will not void the warranty but HP only supports the problems with the original operating system and prove the operation of the equipment of the original OS.

Do the recovery disks and keep them safe before so that you could go back to factory settings if there is no problem of partitioning.

Recovery partition usually works after partitioning, depends on your luck, but you could make the 'Active' Partition in disk management and try for recovery if it works or not.

    Thank you

Reformat the disk and reinstall Windows XP would heal any problem of malicious program with the exception of an infected MBR (Master Boot Record) on the disk.   The F-Secure rescue CD is a tool that allows to remove a MBR infection.

    Hello

There is no free upgrade Vista to 7, 8.1, or 10.

Follow these steps before you buy Windows 7.

Microsoft sells more than 7; Try Amazon.com.

Go to your computer / computer laptop manufacturer Web site and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.
