  • Sony clie hot-sync with Palm desktop on Vista (32 bit)

I got my Clie TH-55(Palm OS 5.2.1) for some time now, say 2 years, but recently, I made the switch to Vista (not by choice, I got a new laptop for free). I had been synchronize my CLIÉ Palm Desktop and so when I got my new laptop, I went and download desktop 4.1.4e in the hopes that I could continue the sync on vista. The installation went well, it is, I can do a hot sync but none of my data transfers. If I create a new contact on my handheld, it will not be displayed on the desktop and even vice versa. When I check the hot sync log, it says that there are no errors. I didn't know if I should go to the forums of Palm or Clie forums so I apologize if this is no longer a Clie problem which should be in the forums of clie. Thanks in advance...

I found the problem, it had to do with the running of the Office to palm as an administrator. Once that I thought that was the problem, I put it to always run as administrator.

  • Windows 7 64-bit and Sony Clie SJ22

    Hello

I've browsed the forum and looking for a way to synchronize Clie my wife for Windows 7 64-bit.  I followed the advice here and bought a USB infrared adapter.  I could synchronize with it before the upgrade.  I have no professional but my machine doesn't support virtualization so I can't synchronize in XP mode.  I installed palm desktop 4.1.  When I try to sync, I get an error on the handheld:

"Cannot start the HotSync operation because the port is currently in use by another application"

I would try Palm Desktop 6.2, but I don't think it will work with the customer, and I'm not sure what I need to do to make it work.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Trent

After some research I have it works I discovered "port is in use..." it was a common mistake with IrDA synchronization by this faq IrDA.   I had to disable the beam receive and perform a soft reset.

I was also able to install Palm Desktop 6.2, then install PalmHotSyncSetup a free download of Pimlico software, which allows 6.2 work with legacy devices.  I discovered that from here: http://forum.brighthand.com/showthread.php?t=261651

So, I was able to sync and backup device.  However, it is horribly slow.  What was a few seconds under XP takes 10 minutes.

  • IR hotsync problem: "because the port is in use by another application."

I finally got my system operation.  Sony Clie TJ - 25 pda, Palm Desktop 4.1, Windows 7 64 bit.  Very delicate balance.  I failed to install the new software released by aceeca.  I finally got it by infrared hotsync.  Several times.

Now, today, I get the message on the Clie: "could not start the hotsync operation because the port is in use by another application."

I saw this thread and in fact ensure that the transfer of images using a digital camera box is unchecked.  It still does not.  The icon hotsync in the lower right part of the screen, when I check that IR is checked, nothing else is.  It still does not.

    Thoughts?  Ideas?  Suggestions?

Cidercat I had this happen to me with bluetooth hotsync before. I listen to radio, transfer files and surf the web with bluetooth. I could solve the problem by turning off the bluetooth, then turn it back on. Sometimes a warm reboot might also work. I came across a free application for the Palm tree named NetworkDown. It closes completely all active sessions down. You type right on the icon to run it. It works on my TX.

  • transfer data from your old computer to new computer. Palm Desktop app where led apps?

    Help, please

I backed up my old files from my Palm programs out of my old computer database

(The hard disk and the computer went wrong, and then he died.)

Question: which directories and where do I copy the old data, so that I can hotsync?

I hotsynced once, but I do not see programs in Hotsynce led screen, where

you select handheld to crush desktop or synchronize files.

Question: In the screen sheath, which directory it seeks for programs?

    I have a Sony Clie PEG-SJ22 Palm Desktop v4.1, Mgr Hotsync 4.1.0.

I spent 4 days on re - install the palm software, to solve the problem of usb hotsync.

I'm finally able to hotsync, thanks to previous assignments and hours of re - install different versions

    the palm software.

Any help on the issues, would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

Your data directory will usually be c > program files > palm > [user folder, usually an abbreviated version of your hotsyncid]

Are they missing conduits for third-party applications?  If so you will need to track down and reinstall them... most applications that have a duct must run a desktop installation routine to install the duct.

  • CLIE on windows 7

Hi, can someone help when I clie hotsync on windows 7, I get the message full hotsync, but he never transferred not the address book or other data on computer or computer to clie, I use desk top 6.2

As far as I know, all Sony Clie PDAS all run the stocks of PalmSource PIM applications.  Palm Desktop 6.2.2 expected reinforced Palm PIMs that where introduced in October 2003 and later versions.

While Sony dropped support for the customer some time ago, you should be able to get the Clie to synchronize with Windows 7 If you download and install Palm Desktop 6.2.2 and then install PalmHotSyncSetup from Pimlico Software. (Amine to the bottom of the page for the download link.)

Once you have PDT 6.2.2 and installed PalmHotSyncSetup, you'll have to figure out if you are running a 32-bit edition or 64-bit Windows 7.  Knowing this information will determine how you will be able to synchronize.  (Palm, Sony, or ACCESS have written a driver USB HotSync 64-bit.)  You can learn more by reading this thread.

It has been long since I got my Clie and I have not tested this, but it should work with Clie PalmOS 5.x.x with a Wi - Fi or Bluetooth connection running.

  • Clie/Centro compatibility?

    Hello:

My wife has a Sony Clié TJ25/U with Palm OS 5 (I don't know the exact version).

She wants to buy a Centro and wondered if the files are compatible.

She will be able to import its current Clie files (address book, calendar, notes, task list)

from the computer to the Centro?

The software provided with the Centro accomplishes this?

    Thank you very much, kenp

    Hello!

Yes but ONLY the book addresses, calendar, memos, and task list can come from the Clie Centro.  Data can be xfered via infrared or HotSync via the Palm Desktop software.  If you do not use the hotsync method, make sure to have 2 separate users, one for each device and everything just import clie data so that the user centro their will be other files on the client that is not compatible with the Centro.

It is not supported, except if you use Vista there is no reason to install 6.2.2

  • Replacement Palm TX has problems white screen even after hard reset

I hope someone can help me find a solution.

I've been a happy user of Palm OS since the early days of Palm III.  After a Palm III and V, had a Sony Clié which lasted a long time, but finally fact poop, went to a Z22 and broken screen, then almost but not quite a year ago (in warranty, so-called), bought a Palm TX.  Worked great for a while but ends with a unit I could not turn on or off because the switch was dead.  Worked around to keep the sync cord and power on by pressing the button and then cancelling.  Finally he sent for repair under warranty.  Return a unit back to me.

It worked well for almost a month, then it started (with no new software or usage patterns) to have white screen problems.  To resolve this problem, I tried a lot of things.  Soft reset, reset hard, leaving completely take its battery for weeks at a time.  Nothing works; It continues to go on me.  In addition, the sound is strange and garish when it beeps (for example accept zone after reset).  I bought the TX to the United States when I was home for a visit last July, but am currently living in the Netherlands.

I contacted Palm repair center in the United Kingdom which has replaced my original unit; They said would pass on the word of my troubles of Palm and Palm should contact me, otherwise for them by e-mail.  They do not have.  I don't find an e-mail address to explain all this to anyone with any power to help me.  I tried to use the Palm website to solve this problem, but neither the original serial number or the serial number of the replacement unit I have now shows as eligible for warranty repair.  I tried calling the support number us Palm (http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/47005_en.html#howservice), but I get "call is temporarily unavailable."  When I click 'here' when asked 'If you want to query the status of the warranty of your handheld, or prefer to repair through our Technical Support Department, click here' (https://www.euroservice.palm.com/repair_entry/NLD/EE) I find myself on a page that simply says: "Please enter the Url of the Source."  I hesitate to provide information of credit card for a problem, if it can not be covered by the warranty (which I think it should be, since I'm still in the initial period of 12 months), can I give up.

I am very frustrated trying to solve this problem.  I am disappointed with the support decreases for a PDA (which is not a phone) with Palm OS.  Since I am living (though not comfortably or well) without my calendar, address book, alarm, player, dbs, cookbook, checklist, etc., I am seriously considering to leave Palm OS.  My preference is to resolve this problem, and my idea nearly a year ago was to climb the Palm OS until it was completely gone (embedded in phones, anyway), but my problems have discouraged me to the point that I wonder if it is my end.

    Does anyone have a suggestion?

Hello..  Not at all.   I suggest that because it was repaired in the United Kingdom, which indicates that it is a device of UK. Otherwise they would not be able to fix it it were an American feature.  Warrenties are the same, Yes, but on the marginal seas cannot be fixed across the country, they were designed for.  If it is a U.S. unit that UK should have refused to repair and referred you to US support.  Because it didn't happen I guess that's a device and if so you need to communicate with them. From the link that I sent you, on the left thumb to contact us, there are ways to communicate with them another email then. If it fails try another phone and I'm sure you can get this resolved.  If it is infact a device US contact our support pda to US @ 866-935-7256
