Sort bookmarks?
InDesign CS4 has a function of bookmarks sort - is - does anyone know how to invoke or reproduce it in a script? This was referenced before (http://forums.adobe.com/message/1106343#1106343), but has failed. Autour thereon Googling led me to discover that ID sort bookmark will by order of the pages, but nothing about scripts. I'd love to be able to use the service without having to code them a sorting routine.
I think that's what you want:
app.menuActions.itemByID(95498).invoke();
Hope that helps.

Cannot sort bookmarks; they are divided into two groups
I am trying to sort the bookmarks in the bookmarks Menu by name. They seem to be divided into two groups with no demarcation between them. The first group ends with "Windows"; the second group starts with 'test ideas '. In the list in the bookmarks Menu, "Essay Ideas," comes just after "Windows". Right click on the bookmarks Menu and choose sort by name doesn't fix this.
There are separators between these two groups?

In the 10.0.2, version I do not see how to sort bookmarks
All the help I think points to a 'View' menu at the top of the window, but in this version there is no such menu and I do not see where the ability to sort bookmarks disappeared.
The menu displays in the Bookmark Manager (Bookmarks > show all bookmarks) is to display bookmarks in a different sort order (where the name of views) and does not sort the bookmarks permanently.
If you want to sort the bookmarks then you must right-click on a folder and use "Sort by name" to sort this issue.
You cannot sort the individual bookmarks, only one folder can be sorted like this. -

Please confirm - Safari is 9.0.2 provide to sort bookmarks? Yes or no.
I'm not looking for or interested is a workaround.
If so, please point me in the right direction.
If not, I'll send feedback to Apple for what it is worth.

No, I don't think that it is possible. I don't understand why this would be useful. If you want to sort on the link address or the title of the link?

When I right click on a bookmark in a folder of bookmarks, I'm not presented with a way to sort the bookmarks. I'm used to IE where there is an option to sort the links (or folders in a folder) in alphabetical order with a single click.
Hi soundprodj, when you right click on a folder instead, there should be an option to sort the bookmarks contained by name...

Hi all
OK it's 2016 and something changed. In order to sort my favorites, I did drag a folder of bookmarks to the desktop, used to be open in the Finder and then all bookmarks have been sorted in alphabetical order.
Then just drag the folder in the bookmarks.
UH Oh. Now, it does not work. I can drag a copy of the folder on the desktop and it's done but I can't drag it to safari! Ugh! I work of Favorites-Edit bookmarks.
Called Apple support and he said to google and find some names of app and then go to the app store, but I can't find anything in the app store, unless I'm wrong looking.
I use OS X 10.10.5 on a 6 months old iMac and Safari 9.1
The reason is that I was using Chrome but now Chrome acting up so going back to the last Safari. I need to make sure that all my bookmarks in Safari are ignored before importation (or copy/paste) my current favorites of Chrome.
Thank you
Allen

TouchPad: Anyway to sort bookmarks in the browser?
Seems simple enough that I feel I'm missing something, but is it possible to sort the bookmarks on the TouchPad? My pre can, it seems that it must be an update if it is not possible right now.
Tap and hold the bookmark you want to move, it will turn transparent, move the bookmark to the desired location in the list, free, done.
EDIT: This is how it works on our phones. Currently, the TouchPad cannot re - order bookmarks.

Cannot sort bookmarks. Ineffectibve worm 50.0.2 sorting option
Sort by name on the list of bookmarks seems doing nothing right click. New bookmarks and folders are always added at the bottom of the list and sorting will not move them. I'm sure that feature sort used to work?
Hi jruk, this part is normal:
New bookmarks and folders are always added at the bottom of the list...
But this part looks like a bug:
... and sort will not move them.
Where are you right-clicking? Usually, you can use either the dialog box library ("Show all bookmarks" / Ctrl + Shift + b) or the bookmarks bar so you can right click on "Bookmarks Menu" to get the sorting by name even appear - it works on the user clicks post, if it's the top level of the menu or a folder.
Another thought: If the new folder/bookmarks are below a separator, sort by name will sort them within this distinct group only and not be moved in the first group. You should be able to remove a separator that is unwanted in the Library dialog box (make a right click the separator > delete).

Sorted bookmarks manually reset after a certain time
First of all, I use Firefox 50 on a Tumbleweed openSUSE Linux distribution.
Most of my favorites is located in the bookmarks bar and is arranged in folders whose positions are defined manually. And several bookmarks there are sorted manually as well. They work as promised. But, several bookmarks in some files, mentioned above, jumps to random positions after some time after the sort manually.
Could someone help me understand the jump back or in the wrong order and solve the problem?
I already read the apparently related posts here

Are you possibly using Sync syncing bookmarks because this could be a cause?
Also some problems with the places.sqlite database can cause Firefox to restore bookmarks automatically from a JSON backup to rebuild places.sqlite.
For problems with the database places.sqlite (bookmarks and history), you can check in the Firefox profile folder.
