SOUL of slow encoding

Hello Adobe community.

We are a small company in California of the South capture 8mm film in a JPEG sequence and returning it to customers in a full movie 1080 p.

Our biggest problem is to end that we can capture up to 4,000 feet of film on a daily basis, but only make 1200 ft. This is equivalent to about 240 minutes of capture with only 72 minutes of the product. Our process of capturing the movie on an external drive, to which animate our computer edition (I'll include the specifications below) and then in rendering on the computer editing and modifying. Our edition is very simple. We use: 8mm settings; Quick Color Correction v4 and reduce grain. Our average amount of grain per clip is 18-26. When we export the clip to the SOUL, we averaged about 30 minutes of rendered by each sequence of 3 minutes. We simply can not work at these speeds so you need to be a way to accelerate our process of encoder with internal changes to the computer or changes to how we edit the film. We cannot lose the grain reduction but we could stay to do not the color correction. Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sebastian,.

Adobe does not list all compatible cards, but the 660 GTX has the basics of working with Adobe. What version of Adobe apps do you use? With legacy applications, there was a 'hack' to make unlisted maps to work. With CC 2015, any card with minimum requirements should be used automatically. More information here - Adobe Premiere CC CC 2015 2014 CC CS5.5 CS5 CS6 graphics cards with CUDA Mercury Playback unlock Hack David Knarr MPE

With respect to the workflow, I found 'Remove the Grain' in 2015 of the AE. Was not already familiar with this effect, perhaps it's more recent? I use Red Giant Denoiser II on my system and have in the past also tried the trial ordered video Denoiser. I know that the red giant uses acceleration GPU, not sure that all neat. Maybe one of them would be faster? In any case, I can tell you this video denoiser is incredibly intensive treatment and always time consuming. An HD picture has millions of pixels and denoising works by comparing each of these pixels pixels in the adjacent images (before and after) to determine what belongs and what is the 'noise' and then the averages/smooth results. Many calculation!

When you use an effect that is accelerated by GPU, then yes a bigger video card can help. The 660 GTX is on the lower end of the performance scale and perhaps a few years now, so a larger more recent map might help. As a GTX 970 or 980, if you have an adequate food and room for her.

Workflow - so you can feed thousands of JPEG files by SOUL and then during the treatment of noise reduction? I wonder if a video clip would treat any faster than all the individual stills? In other words, convert the sequence again video clip, then treat. The conversion will take almost no time at all. Worth a try for a short excerpt. Open the sequence still in first or SOUL, and export as an .avi file.

I heard that the Cineform codec is perhaps included in CC2015? I installed 2014 and don't see it. Otherwise, the Lagarith codec is lossless and free, download here - Lagarith Lossless Video Codec , but everything you do not export as "uncompressed" because it will be a huge file!

Good luck

Thank you

Seriously? 13hrs for a sequence of 2 minutes? Can someone help me to make it faster without ruining the quality. Please, I beg you!

There is a problem in the SOUL by using only a single core of the processor for encoding in some cases.  If this is the case, please launch Media Encoder before Premiere Pro and AfterEffects.

  • New computer - slow encoding!

I received a new computer Saturday and had hoped to see a difference in time of coding, but so far, it seems pretty much the same. Specs are: Windows 8.1 (64), 32 GB of RAM, i7 4770 3.5 GHz, GeForce GTX760 (not support CUDA), 120 GB SSD for the OS and Adobe and Adobe CC 2014. I have 4 video that I shot in 1080 p 29.97 FPS and exports even a minute. Only the effects are stabilising Warp and a few effects Lumetri looks like. All have been made. SOUL 2014 took about 45 minutes to export. I checked the memory settings, and the 32 GB 27 GB is used by first, SOUL, etc. and has been optimized for performance. My old computer had supported CUDA, and it does not - that's the main difference? However, the rendering in the first time is much faster. Have I not some bad settings that slow down the speed of export?

With CS6, there is workaround to get the first to use the GTX cards for hardware acceleration. My understanding is that CC will automatically use capable cards... maybe you need to change the supported cards text file?

But anyway, stabilizing Warp takes forever to render, and color looks plug-ins are also known to take some time. If you want to do any type of reference between the old and the new computer, encode a raw video without effects. It really takes real-time or faster to encode a video in H.264 format on this machine.

  • SOUL MP3 cbr encoding is incorrect

Analyzing an MP3 file that has been encoded with SOUL (adjustment (128 Kbps cbr, 44.1 KHz, stereo) I get a result stating the file actualy has 133 kbps.) Can someone explain this?

    Screen Shot 2014-10-17 at 13.44.42.png

    Hello

I see that you use SOX to see the attributes of the file and I saw the same issue as well.  SOUL adds additional metadata specific Adobe (called XMP) files.  It seems that these additional data (larger file size because of the additional data that is unknown to SOX) are confusing SOX.

You can try the following steps to disable XMP?  This should give you a good flow of SOX.

    1. import a file into SOUL.

    2. open the export settings dialog box.

    3. Select MP3.

    4. click the button of "metadata".

    5. Select No for the "Export Options".  This disables XMP.

    6 code.

It seems that it is a question on SOX.  The actual flow in a file is OK for me.  Other tools (iMediaHUD, MediaInfo, VLC, etc.) gave me a value of correct flow even with enabled XMP metadata.

  • SOUL - unknown error encoding h.264 has failed/gel/is blocked

    Hi guys,.

I use the update for Premiere Pro CS (6.0.3). I worked on first, After Effects, and SOUL for at least 1 year. I bought Adobe Production Premium Box. Usually I use images from the Canon 5 d and GOPRO 2 and 3. Lately, a longer video have been crashing after 10 minutes when rendering to the H.264 - mov or just in 1080p25 fps h.246 format (both using SOUL and direct export in first). I never had this problem before with longer videos (10 min long and much more). I tried paths of different sources, no effect, combining, don't turn Mercury playback engine.

Message: Unknown Error Encoding failed - if you use SOUL (his sheep)

Or: Freeze - the program does not respond and I have to close it

Using direct export first - freezes or just always lies in the recognition / crashes.

MXF, AVI loosles looks very good.

I tried different projects and all formats. I checked the CPU temperature and max 60 C.

I lost all hope. Is - this material?

    Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit

    MB Asus m4a785t evo

    AMD Phenom II x 4 955BE

    NVIDIA GTX 580 DCII (Cuda)

    SSD - system (256 GB)

    2 x hard drive 7200 (2 x 500 GB)

PS. I used pure, mercury read cache enabled, different GPU - still crashes on H.264 (1080 Youtube, Vimeo 1080, Android Table 1080 25 fps)

    Any tips?

    Arti

Hi all, this was a processor. Apparently there were a few problems with AMD and Adobe to make, when temperatures reached 65 c it hung. I changed CPU and cooling and it works very well.

It is strange why the AME crashed over 65 ° C while HOTCPU has not crashed.

    Anyway, problem solved :)

  • 'Audio Préparation' now come before each file coding... causing seriously slow encodes as well!

I hope someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong.

Since the 2014 to Adobe Media Encoder update I noticed that, if I'm encoding for the web, DVD or Blu - Ray, Adobe Media Encoder "Prepared Audio" first.  This significantly increased the time of encoding for each source and really starts to hack me off the coast.  It was fine before, why now all of a sudden is something I'll have to deal with?  As much as I know I do anything differently.

I should mention that the source is a direct result of a first Pro CC2014 project.

If anyone can shed some light on that, then I would be really grateful!

    See you soon

I have experienced exactly the same problem.

The SOLUTION for this is to make sure your sample rate "audio" sequence matches your audio in the sequence and to make sure that when you export it in the "audio" section the sampling corresponding to your sequence as well. I get no more audio rendering.

  • Is it possible to assign color spaces in SOUL (Adobe Media Encoder) CC?

I am trying to output video h.264 for a web project, and can't seem to get the sRGB color matching when rendering on EI.

I see in the native AE render engine, but not in the SOUL.

    Thank you.

SOUL (and Premiere Pro) do not support color management in After Effects how does. Links, through dynamic, which is how SOUL bed After Effects comps, the pixels of color-space-set are not corrected for the display.

To get the results you want, add an adjustment layer to the top of the layer stack in the model and apply the color profile Converter effect. Set the output profile to Rec.709 (sRGB is virtually identical and will also work, but Dynamic Link using Rec.709 in-house is therefore a better match). This force After Effects to transform the pixels adjusted in a non-linear color space that seems correct.

Note that, although the effect of the CPC is active and view > display color management is enabled (it is enabled by default), this extra layer of transformations of color will make the model appear erroneous in After Effects, at the same time, the model will now correct in the SOUL or Premiere Pro. Disable display color management to make the appearance of the comp in After Effects match what you see in the SOUL or Premiere Pro. While working on the computer, however, you probably want to work with color display on and off the adjustment layer management.

Under the hood, when color management is enabled in After Effects, to write to the cache pixels are transformations of the appropriate color for the settings you have chosen. When the model is displayed in the Composition Panel in After Effects, further transformation is added to the screen buffer (not the pixels in the cache) pixels to make it look correct on your computer screen, or not if you have disabled the display color management. When the pixels are interpreted through dynamic links, no screen color management doesn't happen, nor SOUL or Premiere Pro applies, so that you get the same look with the display off in After Effects color management.

    Make sense?

  • SOUL CC2014 wants to encode anything

    Hello world!

CC014 SOUL wants to encode nothing! It opens, adds the files (Comps), presets are changed, everything perfect I try to start the encoding: when I press 'Start encoding' nothing changes at all, none of the actions/encoding/nothing! Encoding launches automatically only in the case of the folder with the files/comps is added in the selected records 'spyware' and so 'files automatic watch - encode'.

    Hi Ty,.

    It is a 64-bit Windows 7 system.

There is no special audio effect to this topic, just some WAV and AAC I guess.

But yesterday, I noticed a bug next :-( Maybe you can take care of it too

If you have a few audio mixed titles in first. After a while your audio track does not display any what signals more and make the audio in the first. It's ok

But if you have not made manual audio and that you start SOUL, it starts to make audio files... Nice... but... the resulting video h264/aac has a blank soundtrack... the track is AAC, but no sound in it - lol

I had no time to study more deeply, but I think that it make the audio in a file, or a temporary drive or where ever, and the final rendering of the clip will not use these temporary files :-) I guess he had still to take a look in the regular rendering files, find nothing and recode anything...

I fix this in audio rerender caraa in first and now it works fine.

  • First and SOUL CC 2015 coexist with CS6?

I have many projects in CS6 and would like to keep such what.  In the case where I have to make some small change, I won't continue to do in CS6 and SOUL CS6 to encode.

If I install first CC 2015, I guess I have to install SOUL CC 2015 as well.  These co-exist well (especially when encoding with SOUL who throws first in the background)?

    Thank you

Altogether.  I have two computers with the largest installed and functional as well.

  • Rendering 3D AE projects in the SOUL

I'm currently finding stuff on After Effects, like 3D motion tracking.

Now, I want to make the video but as soon as I go to the SOUL (Adobe Media Encoder) 3D text turns the back of 2D text.

So now I have to try it to render after effects itself but who is literally taking me now a full day (30 second video).

I've seen this problem on several forums now and none of them have been solved. I hope to get an answer soon!

    Kind regards

    Richard van Hengel

We need the details of your workflow. I assume you mean tracking camera that AE has no such thing as 3D motion tracking. I suppose that you have added a camera and a text layer to a scene. There should be no harm in this workflow if you preview your project by selecting the view camera activates in the Composition Panel and that you use the TEA to render using a standard preset that corresponds to the size of the image and the cadence of your comp.

If you use traced to the RADIUS that you may have other issues. There is a bug when using text rendering and extruded raytraced in the latest version of CC 2015. Workaround for render raytraced projects is to use the Cue to restore and configure the output to the default Lossless format module, and then add the rendered file to the SOUL for the rendering of a delivery format suitable as h.254 by using one of the standard presets that corresponds to the size and the pace of your comp.

Never been a problem for me, even if according to the codec you use to encode, you may experience some slowdowns in the general operation of the PC. I have an i7 processor overclocked to 4.0 GHz and 24 GB of RAM, so this isn't really a problem for me

  • What factors affect the speed of encoding the most?

    Hi all

I'm actually very happy with the speed of encoding to DVD formats. I was under the impression that he was 'real-time' coding. Encoding 1 hour long PAL 48 kHz capture VHS to DVD only took about 30 m.

I opened the Task Manager and noticed that the two hearts of my Athlon X 2 5400 running hard during this process. So I guess that coding can use multiple cores.

    My questions are:

    1. If I'm on a Quad core CPU what performance increase what I see with the above example encoding? 15 m?
    2. What influence hyperthreading there - if any?
    3. Do you expect that PE8 will support nVidia CUDA at some point? I noticed that the latest version of Roxio software don't.
    4. Will be slow encoding drops considerably when I started working with HD content?
    5. A Matrox hardware encoder work with PE8? They seem to only support Premiere CS4

    I have SATA - II RAID 0, 2 GB of RAM, AMD Athlon X 2 5400 + and XP SP3

    Justin.

The two factors that most affect your rendering, as well as your speed of encoding are:

    (1) the power of your processor. So, Yes, in fact the upgrade to a quad core processor would make a significant difference in your performance. Your graphics card and RAM have no real effect on your rendering speed.

    (2) the format and resolution of your video.

The resolution, for obvious reasons. It takes more time to display the 1.5 million pixels (hi-def) it does 345 000 pixels (standard definition video).

But the format can also make a difference. If you use the video from a non-standard source, such as a camera or a camera Flip, the program has to decode the video and more re-making.

And video AVCHD, because it is so highly compressed, takes the longest first to make.

In other words, the video from miniDV camcorder should make pretty quickly after you add an effect - that video from a camcorder AVCHD will take much more time.
