Sound icons & network disappeared.
I have Vista and my sound & network icons have disappeared from my bar. I went into the control panel and see that both sound & network icons appear in gray. Active Device Manager and no exclamation point. Now what?
Hello

I have a Dell Inspiron N5012, windows 7, my sound icon keeps endangered any suggestioms?
Hello
You did changes to the computer before the show?
Method 1: you can try the suggestions in the link and check if it helps:

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

Current Volume icons, network, disappear from the notification area.
I know that microsoft has heard this problem many times that I read many forums to ask this question.
I went to this link
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/945011
and used the microsoft fix and it worked for a few weeks, but then the icons disappeared again.
I tried the Microsoft fix it once more and restarted my computer, but it did not work.
so I tried to fix it manually by removing the two registry subkeys, restart explorer.exe, and then I restarted my computer.
still no effect. I also understand that the icons disappear only on this computer user, the user can see the icons in the notification area.If this happens only to a single user...
You might want to try to create a new profile for this particular user. The profile may be damaged. You can take a look at this tutorial:

Try these steps and check if that helps:
** Turn it back on. Sometimes a reboot will solve this problem.* *.
1. close all programs and stop the laptop.
2. remove all power supplies (battery and power cord)
3. empty the remaining power by pressing the power on button for 30 seconds (even if you have no power).
4. put the battery back and start the computer
5. once fully loaded, right-click on the system tray and select Properties.
6. This will bring to the top of the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" dialog box. The "Notification area" tab.
7. at the bottom of the tab, is the area 'icons systems. " There is a checkbox for "Power". "check" the box and click on apply or OK.
Also update your graphics card drivers.
It works! Tanks a lot Johnny D.81!

The sound icon disappeared into the notification area
The sound icon disappeared in the notification area, so can not adjust the volume without having to open the system information. Even after that the restart several times there no re-appeared, grateful for any suggestion. Thanks in advance.
Use this tutorial:
http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/106787-notification-area-system-icons.htmlGo directly to the third method,
2. for the Volume icon.
(B) to activate the Volume - icon Enable_Volume.reg< click="" to="">
Then follow the instructions from #5 to #9.
Don't forget to restart the computer to perform the procedures.
Note: If someone you said to disable all Windows applications, using a method first, it's trash.
Go directly to the method three which applies to all versions of Vista, and it is also the simplest method.

I have WINXP Pro s ver.2002 / SP3. The power icon keep disappearing several times from the system tray? I have restore but when I restart the laptop, they're gone. This also occurs in the Volume icon at the same time. Do not remember what has been loaded or were able to do. This fine all worked until the day. Now I have to live with almost a one-time problem by sinister using the sound properties and uncheck, Power Options apply and then check, apply the box "Show icon in the taskbar". I tried some fixes automatic Microsoft (I think) Web site but no real chance in the long term.
Hi JayBregand,
· Did you do changes on the computer before the show?
· Who are the automatic patches from Microsoft have you tried?
Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:
Method 1: Try to add the icon again and the Coachman. If the problem persists you can read the following article and check.
Volume icon is not displayed in the notification area, and you may receive an error message when you try to add

Method 2: Create a new profile on the computer and check if the problem persists. If this is not the case, the other profile is corrupt. To create a new user profile, you can see the article mentioned below for the procedure.

Shortcut network disappeared from the Office of Windows7
Hello
first of all sorry for my English, I'm Italian!I'm a system for a small and medium business administrator. We are moving to Windows 7, because I think it's faster and more reliable than XP... but we have a little problem:
Any customer using a new PC running Windows 7 , are complaining of the same problem (but boring):
Some times generally (after the reboot, but not always) all the 'shortened network' disappear from office without reason.
With the word "shortcut network" I mean: link to the remote folder (folder on a network file server), link to computer from the network or link to my own connections (such as the VPN to my company)
An especially don't bind to the network resources are affected by this problem, [the desktop icon, the internal links, ore file icons, are not affected by this problem]It happened to me also (on all of my 3 PCs) and I'm really surprised!
I found some forums with the same question:
example 1 http://forums.techarena.in/operating-systems/1285630.htm
Example 2 http://www.bdc-forum.it/showthread.php?t=91939
but all have not yet given a comprehensive responseCan you help me?
Best regards
GiorgioBossDweebe thanks for your quick response. Yes, I mean that!
In general I want to say "link on the desktop pointing to external resources" as:
link to removabke USB pen
link to the memory card
link to the computer from the network
link to the shared folder [not on my PC] network. My idea was this link to clean periodically broken (or does not apparently) of windows from the desktop:
Without doubt, I found the solution for this problem:
You must click the Start Menu > Control Panel and then > go to system and security > administrative tools (bottom) > Task Scheduler > Task Scheduler (Local) (top left corner) > Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > diagnosis >
(right pane) Right-click on planned > disabled
In the case of the active shortcuts then all desktop external drives such as card readers, usb, CD/DVD player and also Panel readers so items are deleted by Windows 7 when planning
