Sounds and control panel of Audio devices - the speaker settings & gray device Volume

System restore point created and then installed audio & video drivers from Microsoft Update.  Lost audio & fucking video, speaker in the system tray icon disappeared.   Tried to go back to a restore point, but system says that there was a problem and he is unable to restore my system to a restore point and no action was taken.

What I did:

  1. Went to Creative & Nvidia and got the latest drivers and installed OK.
  2. Device Manager shows no problems.
  3. A ran Microsoft FixIt.  No problems found.
  4. DirectX diagnostic ran.  No sound on all the tests.
  5. Open 'Sound and Audio Devices Properties' Panel.  On the Volume tab, "Device Volume" & "The speaker settings" are grayed out.  Slider is set to low or non-existent and "speaker" icon is deselected.  "Audio" tabs & 'Voice', have selections SB X - Fi Audio as default devices.  'Hardware' tab has all the devices activated and functioning properly.
  6. As the loss of his is systemic, I checked the BIOS and he had disabled his, so I enabled it, but suspect it is for his mother integrated.
  7. Activated the Windows Audio Service, restarted and assured, it starts automatically at windows startup.
  8. Restored sndvol32.exe from the Windows XP installation disc.

Nothing has been able to restore all the sounds from my system.  Any other ideas?

System details:

Dell XPS 400 card, Windows XP Pro SP3, Creative Sound Blaster X - Fi Extreme Music

Hi Jim384.Whenever I had a sound problem, I go to the Device Manager open the audio video and game controllers. In the list, you should see peripheral audio. Right click and uninstall it. Close all applications and restart the system. When the system reboots it should detect the hardware as a new device and proceed to load the material. Probably wouldn't hurt to run the program below. Click on the link, download it and then start in safe mode with network and run the program. If there is no bug in there it will remove them.

original title: no sound coming from my speakers

    To everyone

Thanks for trying to help me.  However, since some of the suggestions seem to me be beyond my capabilities, I decided to take the hard drive to a computer technician.

It took him an hour to solve the problem.  One of the problems was that the new map, he installed had crushed WMV. He is also turned off user account control.

Everything works now and I'm very happy, because I had spent the day trying to solve the problem.

Once again, thank you to all of you who gave me your opinion.

    Kind regards

    These are yours?

Alternatively, you can try to restore your computer to a point before the attack of Trojan with the Microsoft System Restore.

Go start > all programs > Accessories > system tool > system restore.

If the Trojan damaged your system to the point where you can't fix it, you may need to reload your OS using your HP Recovery Manager. Save all of your personal information. prior to this, as it will be deleted.

  • How display the Quick Launch toolbar while right-clicking is prohibited and control panel is also forbidden?

I have a user limited access to work where the right-click and access more common is forbidden by the administrator of the computer. Can I show the Quick Launch toolbar without using the right click on the bar of tasks and without the help of the control panel.

At the same time, the shortcut for show desktop is also prohibited (windows logo + D)

    Hello

After some reflections more and a little research, you can try this...

    • Click Start
    • Click on run
    • Paste it into the Open box: %SystemRoot%\System32\rundll32.exe shell32.dll, Options_RunDLL 1
    • Click OK
    • This should run the bar spots and the properties of the Start Menu
    • Check the box "Show Quick Launch.
    • Click OK

However, you may find that you are locked out of the race and taskbar and properties of the Menu start too!

If you can start the task (ctrl-alt-del) Manager, you can try the same thing in the drop-file for the new task. Or even try the same from a command prompt (start - all programs-accessories).

  • No sound in vista, error: no audio device is installed.

Original title: no sound in vista, please help...

I was angry myself in the walls for weeks... the sound, in the lower right icon, has the small x on the subject. I go over it, and it says "Volume: 0-top-speakers-Realtek High definition Audion peripheral ' but when you click on it, no volume slider appears and when right click, select open Volume mixer, but it says"no audio device is installed"in a small window. I reinstalled the drivers audio as many times, without success. In its in the Control Panel, it says that the devices are there, but when I select properties for the device and click the levels tab, there is no detail, totally blank. Help, please... I have a HP's Pavilion a6303w desktop, works with Windows Vista Home Premium sp2.

    Hello

Step 1: It is also likely that you need better drivers for the chipset or audio device. Consult the manufacturer for the latest drivers for your sound card and chipset.

Step 2: Also to isolate the problem, you can use another sound card and check if the problem persists.

    Hello:

From what I can find on the product number you posted, it only comes with the integrated graphics Intel HD 4000 which means that you can not install the AMD software because it won't do a thing.

That only works for laptops with AMD/Intel switchable graphics.

  • Windows 7 - How can I get rid of an "All Control Panel items" icon on the desktop?

Only, I've migrated to Vista Ultimate x 64 to Windows 7 Professional x 64.  I used Laplink to move all my users, programs, and settings.  Everything is great, except now there is an icon on the desktop for all my users that I can't get rid of - it connects to the control panel and is called "All Control Panel items" - it cannot be deleted or moved to the Recycle Bin. Make a right click on it brings up a menu with 'open' and 'create a shortcut' by dragging it to the trash does not delete it.

If I am right cick on the desktop and add Control Panel to the items displayed on the desktop, a second control Panel icon appears with the same picture, but the text is just 'control panel '.

I don't know there is a registry key that I have to remove or adjust but after a lot of research can't find anything.

Open the Publisher of the registry (Regedit.exe) and navigate to:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace]

Backup the key by exporting to a REG file.

Expand the branch above and delete the following subkey:

    {21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}
(The above is the GUID for "All Control Panel items" Namespace)

Similarly, to remove the entry here (if found)

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace]
