Source of data on network drive

Hi all

I work on my laptop on the development of a web application for my company. I installed ColdFusion Developer Edition and Dreamweaver. I'm trying to connect my Data Source to my Access database located on my network z: drive. This drive links to my folder of network in the office that is backed up on a daily basis. That's why I like to keep my database of test on this drive, so it is saved.

However, when I go to bind the data source in the administrator I see only local drives. Any ideas?

Thank you

Ivan

    Palm IIIxe software version 4.1

(I guess you can say that I am not the first...)

    Thank you.

Hello dhlytle and welcome to the forums of Palm.

Palm Desktop does not support to be loaded on a shared network drive or is like having its data files, separated on a shared either drive. Palm Desktop was a single-user application that is installed on a single Mac or Windows PC.  There is no control over the software to see that if a database record is locked before, say, a second user tries to read/write a record that is already connected by someone else.

In short, you could power something Palm Desktop installation on a shared drive or get the data files on a shared network drive, but you will be running the risk of data corruption if more than one computer attempts to use data at the same time.

    Hello

We have very little space on the Essbase Server

    Is this possible with:

    SET DATAEXPORTOPTIONS

    DataExportLevel "Level0."
    };
    DATAEXPORTCOND ('Sales' > = 1000);

So far I only managed to write on the Essbase Server

    Thank you

The network drive should be accessible from the Essbase server. A volume of network/folder that is accessible from your customer, unfortunately, does not work.

However, I exported data through MaxL to network (from the point of view of the Essbase server) drives without problem. Of course he gets excited network admins, but that's a different issue.

  • L2TP VPN connects but won't see network drives

    Hi all

I just got a MacBook Pro with El Capitan. I joined it to my area of work and I have implemented SonicWall VPN Client Mobile and I tested it on and it works - only if my network, I am connected to and the VPN will not have the same IP range.

I would like to use the integrated VPN L2TP client, but I have questions here. I have configurted on my Dell SonicWall and connect this VPN from a remote location, it will connect and show the data transfer (sending / reception are green) but I can not access my network drives.

Once I have switch back to Mobile Client VPN SonicWall, everything works well.

    Any idea?

Routing on L2TP or PPTP will probably work or at all, if both ends of the VPN tunnel terminate on the same CIDR network block. Which is why people never give a one VPN server address local 192.168.1.0/24. the network block is much too common. Please use something in 10.x.x.x.

  • network drive connection

I try to get LabView to connect to a network with a Username and a password to designated drive to save the data, then disconnect after the data are written.

I can't have windows automatically connect because it is a 'public' test computer, one that has a name of log shared for several technicians.  I make sure the netdrive maintains individual logon for traceability.

I've seen a few posts for the use of the tiara, which I do not have or need.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

You can map the network drive using "net use". This is possible via the system exec command.

    'net.
use"you can specify a drive letter and the user credentials to use. Use of the "/ persistent: no ' flag not to register the connection.

You can also disconnect a network drive by using the same command (flag "/ delete").

    Hope this helps

  • Logging with DSC on a network drive

Hi, it seems that I can't save the data on a network drive.

My ultimate goal is to connect to a NAS, but I now use a mapped shared folder as drive (say S:\).

I tried with a shared folder on the development PC itself or on another PC. I have permission to write to both (at least, I can interactively create files on these records).

LV accepts the new database, configuration, however, after deployment, no file is created on the target folder.

MAX also says, that the archives are created instead on the local PC with URL Default_database (in c:\programdata\national instruments... etc...).

    Any suggestion? I use LV2011

    Hmmm.

Whist, that I suspect that Richard is correct, you do not have the readers of network (based on your own description of yourself), it does not necessarily follow that a standalone PC does not or can not have any network grows. There is nothing to say that someone could not create a network drive on their own standalone PC, for example in a deep subfolder of 'My Documents'. Maybe it's to facilitate navigation in this subfolder without having to navigate through the folder structure. Real examples...

You could have a folder structure in My Documents as follows...

    My Folder\Yet of Folder\Another of Documents\A one

You can create a network directly drive to "Yet another folder", which could be given to the letter Z (like the disks/partitions on the PC itself gives a letter, so are all network drives). If you open my computer and then open the drive Z you get directly on the content of "Another folder" without having to navigate through all the intermediate folders.

Normally this would be folders that reside on other PCs in a network of PC, but it is not obliged to be like this.

In the simplest XP environment, you will have a C drive and almost certainly a D drive. Drive C will be your primary bootable drive that contains Windows, installed programs and data. Drive D will be your optical drive. A and B are usually reserved for floppy drives and not used if the PC has no floppy drive. If you have created a network drive on your PC or any other PC, the drive letter is given to can be a letter E through Z.

If for example you have two optical drives, they would probably be D and e. leaving F thanks to free Z for future added features or network drives. If you have a card reader, this will also give a drive letter (format the card multi readers will receive more than a driver letter). The external drives and USB keys also will give a drive letter (or letters) as well as housing of readers of card/USB on attached printers.

Open my computer and look at the listed drive letters. If you have network drives, they have been handed a letter and probably described as 'the PC' where PC is the name/description of the computer where the data resides, which can also be your PC.

Like Richard, my bet is that you will have none.

  • All user accounts Windows XPrestricted open all of a sudden 'Map network drive' by clicking on the desktop and the "research" by clicking on any folder

    Hello

you have a problem with my Windows laptop that left me speechless.

I would really appreciate if someone could provide a solution or any ideas where to start fixing this, as I get close to return to the previous backup full system, but reluctant to do so as I have never done it before so I'm worried if it really works as supposed (Macrium and Ping).

    1. description of the problem

All users of Windows XP (SP3) restricted accounts open all of a sudden 'Map network drive' by clicking on the desktop and the "research" by clicking on any folder, including My Documents.

However, all accounts administrator work as before and also user accounts work like so usual, they are included in the Administrators group, with respect to the clicks of the workstation and records.

In addition, the correct icons for 'Drive' and 'Record' are visible when connected as long as administrator but lacking when logged as long as user restricted when you check the file associations by "open the folder and then click on Folder Options in the Tools menu.» Click the registry file types list. »

    2 solution unsuccessful attempts

    2. google and tried the solution to manually change the registry entries from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321186

    "
Start the editor of the register (Regedt32.exe).
Look for, and then click the default value under the following registry keys if this problem occurs with folders:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
If this problem occurs with drives:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell
Click on edit in the Edit menu.
Type 0 in the value data box, and then click OK.
    Exit the registry editor.
    "

(Fixit associated meanings has also not working for some reason, says that the Windows Installer does not run, don't know if the same problem...)

    2B. and then also tried the fix "regsvr32 /i shell32.dll" at http://blog.chron.com/helpline/2005/10/double-click-opens-search-instead-of-folder/.

After these steps, the registry under "Drive" and "Directory" information are as attaché at the end read somewhere there should be a "find" under lock and key, as I have, but don't know if the subkeys under 'Search' are what causes weird behavior.

If anyone knows and could provide what the values for the registry values must be in a system that works, would be nice to compare to possible problems.

Unsuccessfully, with what precedes, to solve the problem, but noticed through that:

2 c. When you are logged in as administrator, I am able to see and modify the registry keys concerned with regedit, considering that when logged in as a regular user, I get an error that translates roughly as "the key could not be opened [consultation]?.» Error in opening the key. "for"Default icon"and subkeys 'shell' to 'Drive' and some subkeys under"shellex ".

Oddly enough, this is also the case even if I "Run with" regedit as a user belonging to the Administrators group when logged in as a limited user.  Could be the mechanism of Windows registry access.

Noticed that the small group 'Users' did not have access to "Drive". Grant read access, even as the "directory" and other registry keys next to them, for "users".

Now see the values of registry as a limited user, but the problem persists. Do you really know what to try next, after spending hours Googling for answers.

3 computer laptop environment and other factors

    3. don't know if it's related, but perhaps that coincides the time and the possible reason of sage:

I had the problem two days ago described in "account Administor doesn't have access to some files and registry entries" to http://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Windows/XP/Q_27415496.html.

Zone alarm free firewall prevented changing the key of HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microdsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.

Which was fixed as in the article above tweaking of Zonealarm settings so that changes are allowed.

    3. the environment of the laptop:

    Acer Travelmate 8204 laptop

Windows XP SP3 with virtually all updates of installed Microsoft.

Recent issues (related?) with the .NET Framework 4 updates and the repair facility. FixIt against MS to install MS Update and the Application works and reveals no problems, but the settings from-> Panel-> Add or Remove Applications said that it cannot change or delete NET Framework 4.

ZoneAlarm Free Firewall version: 11.0.000.057, prevented possible culprit get earlier access to the registry, uninstall?

Norton Antivirus version recently installed 20.3.1.22, possibly in conflict with ZA or bug?

It seems that I managed to solve the problem on my own. Did two things:

1 set the registry keys determine programs associated objects 'Répertoire', 'Drive' and 'File' to the default values by using the settings found here: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\

    2. If you want to have permissions for group 'Users' to read all these keys in the registry. For some reason any access worked only partly for standard users.

Not sure who finally solved this problem, but after I had finished 1. and 2. for the purpose of 'Record', by clicking on 'My computer' and any folder works normally for all users of the computer.

I suspect that some recent installation of program which adds actions associated with these objects messed up the registry. Suspects are Norton Antivirus and dbPowerAmp.

Thanks for the suggestions for this problem!

  • Windows XP Embedded no initialization of network drives

I'm developing a c# application that runs on Windows XP Embedded and recording data on a network drive. I mounted this drive in Windows like X:\ and set it to "Reconnect at startup.

However, after the restart, if I run my application, I get an error "could not find a part of the path"X:\filename.csv"
If I open windows Explorer, the network drive exists. If I double click to open it, the file exists. If I restart the application after you have done this, the application will then work perfectly.
It seems that even if the disk has been added, it is not initialized at startup and can not be used by applications. Only when you manually select it become initialized.
Is it possible to automatically initialize this drive to make it accessible?

Create a batch file to perform the boot container...

    ; delay for 60 seconds
    PING 1.1.1.1 n 1 w 60000 > ZERO
    ; Removes current mapped drive
    NET use x:/d
    ; Remappe drive x
    NET use x: \\ThePcName\TheShareFolderName

Right now, your drive is mapped, but it is not set to automatically connect at startup or the network connection is slow, manually by opening the Player X:\ you initialize it.
The batch file waits 60 seconds in order to give time to pc to establish connectivity network and maps the drive, so the connection to the drive is there before running your program.
To ensure that your computer never automatically disconnects / times out from the network.
    • Open command prompt
    • Type in net config server/autodisconnect:-1
    • Then press enter
  • Backup on a network drive with Ultimate

I recently installed a NAS drive in my home network and I want to keep my backups here.
I used to date the backup/restore utility of Vista Ultimate with a USB HDD, however, it seems that this utility can store on a local disk.
Is it possible (and if so, how) to backup on a storage area network with this build-in tool - that has worked well for me so far?

    Thanks for your replies.

No, although it seems logical that you can do, your "PC Backup" does not save to a network drive, since you are going from a boot CD.

If you choose not to make a "Backup Files", you should see Net readers. Is - that answeer your question? Mark L. Ferguson MS - MVP

  • Adding a specific file to all subfolders on network drive

How can I add the same folder all the files located on a network drive? For example, if I want to add a folder "Billing" to all customers on a disc records, how so without going into each folder and adding them one by one?

PowerShell is my go to the source, this is a perfect example.

    http://community.Spiceworks.com/topic/473565-PowerShell-script-to-create-subfolder-in-all-folders-but-not-create-if-existing

The first response also describes how to ignore if this folder already exists in the destination.

  • message "Could not reconnect all network drives" is an error

I am using windows 7 Home premium, with a small local LAN supporting 3 PC.  There are 2 stores connected to the network on the LAN for backup (a device) and multimedia data archives (the other device).

Lately at the start, I always get the message "cannot re - connect all network drives", but explore can access the network drive and view the contents of files on this subject.  the following image illustrates this case:

Note see the sharing Y: mapped drive that is not connected with a big red X, even though I can access the contents of the folder of this one (pictured above).

So next, I selected Y: and properties and got the following picture for the reader (bomb box properties coming to slightly overlap the content of the file):

Now it is said nothing in the drive capacity which should contribute to this (25% of space), but pointed out that only the action get properties has managed to change the y to so-called connection not connected (but still available) by a big X red, supposed to be connected, with a green sticker on the drive icon shows now.

These 2 images were taken less than 3 minutes apart - the timer it took to snapshot screen not connected, crop the image to remove the spaces empty and save them, and then get the properties one and do the same thing.

The question is - why windows do this?  It is obviously not something wrong with the devices, and even when it allegedly is 'not connected' the drive mapped a share can still provide content of records of levels 2 and 3 to the bottom of the tree.

    Hello David,.

You can see the article mentioned below to solve the problem.

Drive mapped to the network connection may be lost

Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.
