  • Satellite A30-921 PSA33E - no sound and the missing "speaker" icon

Some time ago, I lost the sound and also the missing "speaker" icon.
But the sounds in the control panel and all its grayed out. Restarted the system and everything has been restored.

Once again lost both and rebooted but is more than this noise of restoration. Icon was back at the helm of the tasks, but when you click on it, all greyed out.

Uninstalled the audio driver and used the disk utility to try to restore the sound, but does not work: visited the download from Toshiba site and I tried the Realtek driver, no luck. Checked with my Bios Update and I have the latest version.

    What is going on???

    If anyone can help...

    Congratulations to all.

    Hello

I think that you must first remove the old sound driver.
Check if there is an entry in Control Panel-> Add & Remove programs.

In addition, you should go to the Device Manager and should remove the sound card in the list of devices.
Just mark the sound card and remove it.
    Reboot the laptop.

After that restart of the operating system (Win XP) should start looking for a new device and should ask the audio driver.
This is the time to point the driver package, and files that you downloaded from the Toshiba European page.

Check to see if that would help!

  • I can adjust is no longer control volume via the speaker icon in the notification bar.

I found issues of users on this forum where the "speaker" icon has disappeared.  My problem is slightly different.  The "speaker" icon is always visible, but when I click it, I no longer get the vertical bar that allows me to adjust the volume.  I have made no recent changes to my computer and does not understand why it happened all of a sudden.  I have spent at the taskbar properties and tried to turn the volume icon but this has not cured the problem.  Can anyone help?

It is not a 'solution' in its true meaning.

The corrupted account use more. You will need to remove it. BUT, before you do, and if you want to save what are in this account, you will need to use this tutorial:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-CA/Windows-Vista/fix-a-corrupted-user-profile

Note: after you create the profile, you can copy the files from the existing profile. You must have at least three user accounts on the computer to perform these operations, including the new account you just created.

Of course, if there is nothing to save the corrupted account, then just delete.

If this account is an administrator account, make sure you first create a new admin account AND make sure that the new administration is working FIRST before deleting the old one. *******

PS It is not advisable to activate the guest account. Disable it.

Create a standard user account for all guests who may need to use your computer.

  • upgrade from Vista to Win7: no color for speaker Icon or WIFI icon on the system tray

After the upgrade to Win7, both the WIFI icon and the "speaker" icon are white without color.  Just annoying for the speaker, but I cannot see the strength of the signal for the wifi icon.

    Hello
This does not solve the problem.  The advice given doesn't turn, and turn off the system icons.  The issue is not that the icons are invisible.  The problem is that the icons are there, but they have no color, as I expect.

    Hello

It is design in Windows 7. There is no way to change this in the user interface.

  • The unwanted 'no speaker' icon on windows desktop and active

We have a large square icon 'no speaker' bounce around on our Office W7 and on top of active windows. The President works currently as are all audio components. Thinking that it was associated with the button "mute" on the keyboard, we changed keyboards but no luck. We looked at the parameters related to the speaker icon in the system tray and they all seem normal.  A reboot didn't help. We cycled headphones/microphones in the connector of the control panel front and which did not help. This makes us crazy!

    Thank you.

I simply blow the computer and get a new one if this continues.

    Yann,

No need to blow up the computer. Right after that I sent the last answer I looked down on the ground to find out my Cocker Spaniel Puppy sleeping on the remote control for my monitor. I picked it up and there was a 'Mute' with the same icon that I complained. I pressed the "Mute" button and the problem resolved!
    Now I can sleep again.
That's the problem with dogs. Always play with our remotes.
