Specifications of customization Manager

Hello

How orchestrator can I get a list of the "customization specifications Manager" as "Get-OSCustomizatonSpec" in PowerShell?

Thank you

Hello

Here's a code example

var vc = VcPlugin.allSdkConnections[0]; // this simply gets the first vCenter; if needed, modify it to match your use case
var csm = vc.customizationSpecManager; // get customization spec manager
var specinfos = csm.info; // get all customization specs as array of VcCustomizationSpecInfo objects
for each (var spec in specinfos) {
// print the name and the type of customization spec
    System.log("Found spec: " + spec.name + " of type: " + spec.type);
}

  • Edit sysprep recorded entries in the 'specialization of the customization Manager' in VC?

If I understand correctly, these information are kept in a file .xml on the Virtual Center Server. (maybe) However, I was not able to locate this file. I would like to change and or remove some older saved customizations and can't seem to find an easy way to do it.

If anyone has any ideas. Please let me know.

    Thank you

AFAIK, the comments customization information is stored in the database of vCenter.  You can export the customizations in a xml file by navigating to Home-> management-> specifications of customization Manager and right click on personalization and then click Export...

This xml file can then be edited and re-imported.

  • Specification of customization - English and Spanish XP at the same time?

Hi, as I work in the Mexico, sometimes we have to use a specification of customization with the English versions of Windows XP and a few other times with Spanish versions of Windows XP

the question (requirement) that came with a single customer was:

they want (need) to use the two versions (English and Spanish) the deployment of English for a group, Spanish for other virtual desktops

is it possible to use the same customization specification?  (the real question would be: can they mix sysprep for the English and Spanish versions? or do need to install different sysprep and if so, where and how?)

hope you can help him (and me!)

    Jose

Actual sysprep files do not need to change, you can use the same on the VC server.

For the specification of the customization, you might have one for Spanish, one for English, or you can create a sysprep file that adds support for both languages and who import in the technical Customization Wizard.

  • Manager of specification of customization for Windows machine with auto login

I would like to use the customization of the specification (CSM) Manager to provide a host name for the new virtual from Windows 7 machine. I create new virtual machines, based on a template. The model is set to auto login as administrator.

With CSM, it is possible to use a profile to set the host name. It's ideal for me. But it seems to break the automatic connect feature.

Is it possible to create a new virtual machine from a template, assign its hostname through CSM and keep activated the automatic login?

PS: I noticed that CSM has an automatic connection property. But it is limited to X connections. I need the automatic connection to persist.

I see. Well, yes - call us Sysprep / generalize. Therefore, if we do not pass the automatic connection information, sysprep simply disables it.

Could you please try with activation of the automatic connect feature and addition of the following single command (it will take place at the end):

    cmd /c reg.exe delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" /f /v AutoLogonCount

  • Removal of the specifications of customization with Dr.-ip-customizer

    Hello

I have three scripts of customization in my DR environment:

I would like to get rid of them, because one of the servers no longer exists, and there are two scripts for the other. What I've read, it seems that the removal of the GUI is not a good thing (don't know why), so I tried to use the command 'drop' of the to do.

So I run the following command to create the. CSV:

    VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager\bin D:\Program > Dr-ip-customizer - cfg... \config\vmware-Dr.xml - csv d:\prod.csv - cmd generate

It then creates the. CSV which contains entries for all protected of the VM, but does not list any of the indications for STMTEST. I then changed to remove all the lines containing the entries outside these two virtual machines (so two entries left, one for the shadow-vm-6448 and one for the shadow-vm-11151), and save the file.

I then ran the customizer again:

    VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager\bin D:\Program > Dr-ip-customizer - cfg... \config\vmware-Dr.xml - csv cmd d:\prod.csv - drop

    Part of the output includes:

Deleted CustomizationSpecs out shadow VMs on VC.

Everything looks good, but my customization scripts are still there.

I have also tried to manually edit the prod.csv file to add entries manually and re-run the command 'drop '.

Still no joy, the scripts are just going.

    Has anyone encountered this?

After playing a bit with custom specifications, there are my conclusions:

    1. drop command detaches and removes the custom plug attached to the existing placeholders

2 drop command deletes the customized specifications that are not attached to any placeholder, but the placeholder with ID and name exists

    3. drop command removes renamed not care or care of non-existent placeholders

4 command drop do not detach or remove the personalised if you provide a CSV file "base" which was created by 'generate' command. You must provide the CSV file that you use for the command 'create' (with all the properties at the breast).

  • Specifications Manager not applying custom settings do not to clone

    Hello

I have a picture of clone Win2008 R2 Server, it is Sysprep and power off. I created an answer file through the specifications of customization Manager and when I cloned the server I chose this model parameters. The clone is created successfully, but when I have the power to get the Mini Setup and settings that I've specified are not applied as if the settings file has been completely ignored.

I used the command sysprep in the build of the server (c:\windows\system32\sysprep\sysprep.exe)

The clues where to start troubleshooting? I went through the requirements doc, creating a clone and a doc of parameters

It looks pretty - free create a virtual machine, sysprep it (generalize), clone and apply the settings file created from the CSM. Turn on the newly cloned virtual computer. But the settings are not applied, have I missed something?

    Thank you

In this case, which is the stage that 'syspreps' it? -When you arrive at 'comments' customization that is actually performing this part?

If you try to deploy an older operating system like Win 2003 model, you should see the 'comments' customization isn't available until you have copied the necessary sysprep files on the vCenter server.

This isn't necessary for Vista, 7, 2008 + because the necessary sysprep files are in the operating system natively...
What if all you have to do is to install your 2008 VM and configure it as needed, close, convert model and then start the deployment using your selected customization. The settings defined in your additional is then injected into the invited during the deployment operating system...

  • How to change the existing customization specification?

I have a few specifications of customization that I created all by deploying the vm model.

Is it possible to edit this specification with some editor?

    Thank you

You can change in the specification of customization Manager console. Right-click and select Edit.

Also, you can import files of responses in xml format to use as customization specification. Never used editors for answers sysprep files MS if Google or someone else need VMTN will tell you all about them.

  • Manager of customization with Server 2008?

Does anyone know if the specification of customization Manager will work with Server 2008 model?

When I create a new set of specifications through the wizard, there is no option to choose anything other than "windows" or "Linux".  The section below these options makes reference to a custom sysprep answer file that let me hear XP/2000/2003. Bascially Microsoft has deleted with Sysprep in 2008 (you can run a very simple, no custom version to change the SID and do an OOBE) or create an XML part that is personalized through Windows AIK. So I am wondering if it is supposed to be for 2008 too? I have a feeling that it is not. How do others are 2008 deployment models?

It's the same as it was never really.  The only difference is that now you don't have to have the sysprep files copied in prior vCenter.  I have specificaitons of customization for 32-bit and 64-bit 2008 and 2008 R2.  Everything works fine.

    Good luck!

    Follow-up.

Tried what I could.  It descends by using personalization and cloning Script Manager.  Seems like it's a not in the 64-bit version of PowerCLI.  Only way I could make it work is to run the 32-bit.  I hope that VMware is reading, I wish than that to be added to the list "Ahhhh OOPS" for them.

    Thank you all.

  • Related Office Clone join domain and gets then disjoint after reboot

    Hello

I have an ad in which a DHCP server is configured.

My image of parent is not connected to the domain. I created a customization script using the specification of customization Manager. The office linked clone uses this script to enter the field.

Singularly, the linked clone office made an entry in the Active Directory computers and users, but when it restarts and displays the login screen, it gets WORKING group instead of domain.

In the end, I get an error of customization in the Console Administrator display.

A possible explanation for this? Am I missing something?

I did release the ip address and empty the DNS before taking the snapshot.

    Thank you

When you enable the composer on the Administrator page, you specify a user account that has permissions to domain indicated in the installation guide.   When you create a new pool, select quickprep as the method of customizing of comments that user account is used to join the domain and place the machine in which OU has been specified.

  • VM full Media Pool creation within the view

I used VDI for only 3 or 4 months now in my POC. I created essentially to persistent and not persistent related Clones. However, I would like to create a pool of media relying on full virtual machines. I tried a node 4, pool full VM media and only 1 of the 4 actually worked. Well 4 virtual machines have been created, work only 1 and 3 other computers virtual I can't connect to. I'm willing to bet THAT SYSPREP does not work correctly or something similar. I know that SYSPREP runs when I use use link-clone media pools.

SYSPREP does not during the stage of creation on a VM full media pool?

What step am I missing? I think one hoping this is an easy solution...

    Thank you community!

Open the vCenter client, click home, finding the administration section and then click on specification of customization Manager.   You can view, set and change the specifications here.   They in turn will appear in view to choose.

  • VCenter 4.1 does not see the sysprep files

I have a brand new installation of ESX 4.1 and, of course, VCENTER 4.1. VCenter is installed on 2008 64-bit standard. I put the sysprep files in the virtualCenter\sysprep c:\programdata\vmware\vmware directory.  When I go to deploy a model and try to customize, he does not see the sysprep files. Any idea?

It wasn't my question.  You have created a VMware for OS customization specification, you intend to sysprep?

  • Customization specification Manager problems

I tried to make a specification of customization for my Windows 2003 SP2 32-bit virtual machines.

I created the specification, but every time I deploy a virtual computer to use, the host name is incorrect and the SID is never regenerated.

I searched online and found a Ko of VMware, which States that the appropriate version of sysprep must reside in the specified files.

I saw that my version was incorrect and downloaded the correct version by using their link.

Now, I have the appropriate version of sysprep and it still does not work.

Is there anything that can be the cause?  I am trying to deploy a test with the child domains domain and generate a new sid is a must.
