But I can't get there. I used the HP manual both this post I saw on LaptopUltra (can't seem to paste the link on smartphone :/) on taking measures to get background.) However, no luck at all. I can get the free corners, but that's all. It seems stuck around the center of the back and the front. And I do not plan on the use of excessive force to get him out. Can anyone help.   My son managed to break the touch screen (Digitizer) (the LCD is fine). I've been advised by Hp that I can replace the screen display only (plastics, bezel, mic, screen, etc.) which is out of stock and very expensive.

  Can someone tell me where I can get a replacement screen and a digitizer without having to buy anything else?

  I have been informed that the screen is stuck on the digitizer, if it does not buy just the digitizer?

  All suggestions from suppliers etc. would be greatly appreciated as I am struggling now after having exhausted what I can find on google.

  Present 716398-001 699378-001 are the only numbers I have for HP. Both replace the entire screen. You may be able to find other options available, but I would not be able to recommend other options.

  Apple has figured out how to include the power cord in its overall design. Why manufacturers of PC/Windows cannot do the same?

• The place 8 Digitizer replacement

  Does anyone have experience replacing the digitizer on the venue (2013) 8? I've seen video disassembly to remove the motherboard but don't know about the removal of the digitizer LCD screen. I'll start to disassemble that I work tomorrow but hoped that someone had some experience with it to facilitate the replacement.

  I replaced the digitizer today. I will assemble the rest and test tomorrow. Heat the edges of the digitizer and carefully extracting with spudgers/card did the trick to remove the digitizer. Although he didn't come off easily.

  It seems to have been followed using a foam type adhesive tape double face (cut from a template). The replacement screen is not comes with a Ribbon adhesive but had a LCD attached to seal so after the old cassette of cleaning off the coast, I used strips of 3mm LCD tape double-sided to ensure the digitizer to the frame.

• Spare part Portege M930 digitizer pen

  I'm having a little difficulty finding replacement/pens digitizer replacement for my Portege M930 - I still have the pen that comes with it, but I've been known to lose this kind of thing, so I want to be ready for the inevitable and know where I can get spare parts before I'm stuck without one!

  Please note that I'm only after the pen supplied with the M930-l am aware l can use wacom pens or other digitizer pens but I want really the same thing, as I have so it will still fit into the laptop, as soon as the pen must remain separate I lose them all the time and $ 30-40 a pop that will become expensive quickly! I have looked through the manual and cannot find a reference for her number, nor has google found a lot of use.

  I guess if you want to use exactly the same pen that has been delivered with the Portege M930, you should contact Toshiba service provider authorized in your country. The service guys should be able to order this part (if available) directly from the main warehouse of Toshiba

  What should I do to get a laptop HP to work for my money?

  You can do it to a laptop repair center. The display and digitizer costs usually in the neighborhood of $ 100.00 from a third-party online vendor. Anyone who can replace a LCD smartphone can replace the screen on a 2 X.

  You can also contact an HP Service Center and ask for a quote.

  The downside is that if there is a x 2 with an Atom processor, then having the screen\digitizer replaced by a store will cost roughly half the new value of the device. I would consider that worth the expense. That would make me worth it.

  Thank you! I'm not in this thread because I have the same question on a cold start. My touch screen works fine other than the issue of bar of charms.

  So I searched in the thread and noticed that technot fixed his charms bar problem by resetting the calibration data. I did the same thing, and it works perfectly now!

  No it will not damage anything else as long as you do not let moisture touch the screen or damage it more.

  Do a search on Google or Bing for touch digitizer of replacement for HP Slate 7 2801 to find an online provider of a touch digitizer replacement.  Otherwise, you can contact HP to arrange to have done, at a cost, because it was customer induced (inadvertently or otherwise) of damage. You can find screens for about $ $50,00 if you're looking for with sufficient diligence.  You will need a tool thin spudger to replace the touch digitizer and adhesive strips to hold it in place. There are tutorials on the web that show how this is done, but you will have to search for them.

  I dropped my computer a few days ago from cracking of the digitizer, but not the LCD screen. The display still works, and I'm debating whether to pay to fix it or just do it myself or ask at a local store to do. My questions are:

  (1) do I have to dissect your laptop to replace the digitizer, or y at - it a simple way to just pull the digitizer off the LCD display and replace it?

  (2) in doing so void my warranty? Especially if I don't really have to unscrew anything, and given that the display is not covered by the warranty anyway, if it voids the warranty on everything else?

  (3) if I go with it, what is the model number of the digitizer and are there instructions I could follow?
